Yes he is. He was checked by vet and fortunately has nothing worse than a bruised leg so should be back to normal before long.

Monty has been found !!! He hadn't been taken to the stray kennels but as a result of the leaflet drop through doors late last night a lady lving near to where he was hit by the car found him under a bush in her garden this morning !! He appears to just have some bruising to his legs but to be sure his owners have taken him to the vets to be monitored. Fingers crossed he will be okay. Welcome home Monty and please stay safe from now x x
Devetta
The sighting of the woman and blue dog at the garage was actually the owner and her other dog trying to find Monty.
Keeping my fingers crossed she'll come home with Monty from the shelter.

I hope it's him!

Thanks minigirl ! I have just had it clarified that this sighting of a man with the grey whippet was actually of the owners other dog and the lady talking to the cashier about the incident to the cashier in the garage was the owner.

We have just got home after helping to search for Monty and we also put some posters through doors near to the area he was hit by the car and were joined by a group of teenagers at one time who helped us to search which was very kind of them.
Monty ran off from his owner on a walk in a walking area along a track beside Redferns Glass Factory on Fishdam Lane. We believe he then retraced the route his owner had taken to get there which was back up Fishdam Lane and then across the road opposite the Jet Garage where he was hit by the car. We met a man who had a definite SIGHTING of Monty running back down FISHDAM LANE on the opposite side of the road to Redferns Glass Factory. However the man was uncertain of the exact time he saw him but if it was after Monty was hit by the car so he could have returned to the walking area looking for his owner or kept running past and then ended up on an Industrial estate to the left, straight on to Carlton or right to the bypass near Cudworth and Shafton. Lots of poster are up near to where he ran off but we need to get some up further afield in these other directions.

The following is a message copied from 'we are Barnsley' facebook page-
"I was at jet garage around 4ish and a man was on the corner holding the dog. It was stood up and looked absolutely fine, a lady was talking to the cashier in jet garage about the incident."

Have enlarged Monty's photo so that we can see the collar

Photo exchanged.

Owners are sending another photo in of Monty which she would like as his poster photo as he is wearing the same collar in it that he was wearing today.
Not long after Monty vanished on a walk just after 3 pm today the police had a call from motorist to say they had witnessed another motorist who failed to stop hitting a young grey dog in the Burton Road area near the roundabout/ Jet Garage area. The dog was seen to be injured but ran off. The witness thinks the dogs back legs were injured but if badly injured he won't have been able to run very far. Shame on the motorist who didnt have the compassion to stop !!! His owners have contacted local vets etc and have been putting posters up. Please can anyone local help to search for Monty as we need to find him ASAP. He may well be hiding up after the fright he has just had and may appear when it gets a little later this evening. Hoping Monty is found very soon xx
