- smv please don't give up hope, Daisy is out there. The fur trade is very much a rumour - don't pay heed to that - dogs can too easily be sold onto pet or working homes for quick cash, selling for other uses is far too complicated and for us, unheard of. Usually the dogs are within your immediate area - please please continue to poster, someone somewhere knows something. Take care, call if you need to, Dee xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Just spoken to the dog warden and the dog at the triangle is an adult dog, not a puppy. He also drew a blank at the Cuckfield site this morning :( What a shame, we will keep on looking. Let me know if there is anything else to follow up in either Brighton/Hove or Haywards heath area. JulieLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- I'm back! The traveller site is right in the car park at the Triangle leisure centre. I walked past 3 times and then my friend and I drove past another 3 times! I did see a small , youngish brown/black dog run across the site which MIGHT have been a border - the tail is quite long for a border though. When we drove past there was a terrier-type dog lying under one of the caravans, but it was too far off to have a good look. If anyone else is going to do a reccie - it was under a caravan on the road side of the site, towards the back end of the car park. There wa s large white van parked beside the caravan. I will ring the dog warden and let him know what I saw, I think its worth a closer look. julieLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- I just picked this message up from another dog list: "There are 2 traveller sites in Crawley, some of which have been in the Cuckfield/Burgess Hill area. There are some small red terrier types on these sites. First site is at Jubilee Walk, Three Bridges, second in Old Horsham Rd Southgate. Both sites can be checked reasonably well from the road if you know what you are looking for. Eviction date is Tuesday, so they will probably be moving off Sunday or Monday. Might be worth a look, but don't get involved unless you have backup. " Both too far for me to get to, but I am wondering about Pip and Poppy too? JulieLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- I have fingers and everything else crossed ! Dont worry, I wont do anything silly in Burgess Hill.I will still go just incase, and to look for the others too. My friend is going to the Triangle to pick up some tickets (its a leisure centre) and will be bringing me back. She thinks the camp is actually on the site of the Leisure centre so its notlike its down a remote lane or anything . I wont get too close. But hoping for a good result in Cuckfield....... julieLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- I will hopefuly get over there at lunch time - I am just waiting to speak to my "lift" though I might be able to get there anyway by bus. I'll look out for any likely matches. I spoke to the dog warden who covers both the Cuckfield and Burgess Hill sites and he said if there was "evidence" (not sure how this can be defined) he would go and scan them. I gave shiela his number so hopefully she has been able to speak to him directly. I have my camera (zoom lens!) and mini binoculars and with me, just incase!!!! Dont worry , I wont approach them but you never know - I might get lucky. I dont know tha site or how it is situated so I will have to play it by ear. If I can loiter at a bus stop or something all well and good. JulieLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Just browsing the site by chance looking for dogs similar to my mum's Poppy (Dee - did you mean Poppy - brindle, RH13 - I know there are other Poppy's!), and found this! There was a possible sighting of her with travellers on south coast end of July so if you could keep an eye out for her on gypsy encampments that would be great. Hope Daisy is found soon. Sheila you might want to ring them and give them any info you have, see if they can suggest anything or offer any help? Or maybe ask them to look out for her or ask around? Worst case scenario is I can probably get someone here to pass some leaflets on to a friend who lives in Ansty, the next village. Mid Sussex Times is the newspsper covering Cuckfield. - I put some posters through letterboxes in Portslade high street (Boundary Road) the other evening and they are now being displayed in the railway station, pets shop and newsagents. These are all high traffic areas. I was wondering if anyone has contacted the travellers support people at Brighton and Hove Council as there have been a lot of travellers around the Hangleton area recently. If they are visiting sites they might be asked to look out for Daisy? julieLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have sent a message to the Border Terrier list on Yahoo (I think Naomi may be away as she usually picks these up) with a link to the poster, and I have send the poster to colleagues in my workplace (in Haywards Heath) who live in a range of places in sussex. There is a big piece in the Argus this morning. Sheila I really hope Daisy is recovered soon. Hopefully because she is quite distinctive she may be spotted soon. I ask as you have had three dogs taken, is there any gypsy camps you live near, or any unruly places that are near to your house etc? Please see jake 21.1.05 if you want to talk, you can give me a call, I hope you hear some news about Daisy soon! Our dogs are out there somewhere and i hope Daisy is back where she belongs soon! - I wish I could say I had a good relationship with the Argus. They are singularly unhelpful. However, I'll have a go !!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- How awful that it is the 4th dog that has gone missing from the owners garden! I feel for her, and will definately been on look out for Daisy in my area. If she is found and reported as a stray she will come into the rescue centre I work at. In which case we can get Daisy home very soon!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Nik.... as you have such good relations with the Brighton & Hove Argus, do you reckon you could get Daisy mentioned? After all, one owner to have a 4th dog stolen is quite a story - if it helps get Daisy back lets go for it?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- It should also be noted that Daisy has Kennel Cough and she is still sniffly and snuffly - not the kind of illness a thief would want to pass to their dogs! Please get her home so she can continue treatment.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Please guys poster Hove and surrounding areas like mad: if anyone can give us tip offs on likely sites, "iffy" areas, etc then please let us know ASAP. Daisy is chipped so can be identified easily. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- How awful for these owners. I'm miles away in Yorkshire but thinking of you. Hope Daisy returns soon and may these thieves get their just desserts! - ValLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- owner can be contacted on 07801 563180. This is the 4th dog stolen from this lady! Please print off poster when photo arrives. Owner has already had a call asking if there is a reward. Lets make this dog too hot too handle!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
