Thank you all so much for your kind words but unfortunately Jason wont let me see Holly :-(

Scootjockey I am so praying for you to find your lovely Tay x
scootjockey
WOW ! Well done Helen and Holly. At last I finally found you. Lovely to read of a now happy ending. You were always really in sync and connected to Holly you had to really know your little girl to have been drawn to the place she was, Its a gift. Best wishes Helen. Stolen Tays mum xxx Ps can discretely mention a sighting of Tay. It could take some time.
Jackie
So happy to see Holly home, hope she soon settles back in xxx
BBKM
Absolutely wonderful news Holly is home safe and has made a full recovery. I am so happy for you Helen and your family, you worked so hard to find Holly. She must be one tough cookie (like her Mum) to have survived out there for nearly 7 months then to be injured and recover well. Have a lovely Xmas, would love to know how Ghillie reacted when he saw Holly....Welcome home Holly, gorgeous girl xx
Helen
Just to let you all know Holly has been given a clean bill of health today :-)

We are so happy for you Helen but I am sorry to hear you and Jason have separated - I am sorry some of my ideas were rather wacky to say the least in trying to assist you ! Will keep checking back to see how Holly is getting on and hope she is soon A1 again. With all best wishes to you. Julie x

WOW...!!!!
Pop's Mum
So So pleased she has been found. I logged on for my almost daily check and it was such a lovely suprise to see her in the blue. I hope she recovers quickly.
Helen
I can't tell you how happy I am that Holly is home...unfortunately Jason and I seperated a short while ago and she is with him but I did get to spend some time with her yesterday which was the best moments of my life :-)I will try and keep you updated on Holly's condition. She is currently suffering with a damaged lung and had a dislocated shoulder and but she's doing really well.

I really do need to give a special special thank you to Holly's search team for keeping me going when times were bleak, for making me laugh and sharing my tears. I really have made some very special friends and I couldn't have done any of this without each and every one of you!

For those of you just starting out or still looking for your beautiful girls and boys......

Poster, poster and poster again....check the map and poster again.
E-mail the whole country and get the word out.
Harrass the radio, papers and TV stations until someone listens....you can get advertising for free...we did!
And once you find where your baby is......
Scent, feed, search.....watch for runs and beds....once you have that...lure with cooking, scenting, feeding, set up traps, cameras, camp out and even just sit and watch all times of the day and night.
I have done all of these things day in and day out for nearly 7 months and now my girl is home safe and sound.

Good Luck and never never give up!!Last edited: 2012-12-12 12:42:40 by Helen

Just an update for those checking little Hollys page. Owner (Helen) is still tirelessly working to get Holly home. We know where she is and we are getting closer but she is a frightened little girl and its taking its time. She is at least definately not sitting in a kennel somewhere in the UK waiting for her owner to come, will take as long as it takes.

So sorry Holly not found yet, have been checking and hoping you were very close to finding her.
Will keep checking websites and definately willing Holly is back home with you very soon xx
Helen
Our Holly has been gone 5 months tomorrow,
And it fills our hearts with such great sorrow.
We postered, searched, camped, cooked and tracked,
Had tears, tantrums and laughter until we're flat on our backs!
Often confused, frustrated and don't know what to do,
I know you are there willing Holly home too!

Thanks everyone. There are reasons why Holly's page has not been updated and these will be made clear when eventually she gets home. She is not being held by anyone, so no need to spend time checking found dogs or dogs for sale. Thanks for the links wensmum, they already have one. I didn't know about that site and will check it out, can always use new advice and tips.

Good to hear from you Helen. You do what you have to do to get Holly home I am sure everyone on here understands that at times things need to be kept quiet and no one would want your search jeopardised so I continue to wish you all good luck and best wishes and so look forward to seeing Holly in the blue. Julie x
Helen
Thank you everyone for your continued support x x x

Just a quick update....we're still actively looking for Holly on a daily basis. I can't give you details as I'm not wanting to jeopardise our search which I know must be very frustrating as I know I would be. What I can tell you is we are very close to her and will continue what we are doing until the day I can tell you everything and put her in the blue.

Again we thank everyone for their interest and support x
We would also like to say a special thank you to Holly's team. We couldn't have done any of this without each and every one of you, you truely are incredibly special people and without your dedication, time and patients we wouldn't have been able to get as far as we have x

Holly it truely is time to come home, we miss you so very much and will never stop trying x x x
Helen
Thanks Millypod but not Holly unfortunately.....too much white on chest and I think a cross breed. I had a look last night but couldn't get logged on to reply.

Come on Holly its time to stop playing games now, you've well and truly won this game of hide and seek. You have an amazing family who want you back home where you belong and you have a lot of new friends that can't wait to hear the news that you are home. Helen, family and friends you are doing a fantastic job x

I am sure you will have Holly home eventually and like you say just waiting for Holly to give herself up and one day she will. You must be so tired but do keep up the good work it is bound to pay off in the end. With all good wishes. Julie x
Helen
Thanks Julie and Bazil I'm sure we'll get her home eventually we do think we're getting closer and closer...it just seems like a waiting game for Holly to pluck up the courage to pop her little head out and say she's had enough now!

We're still actively searching every night and day. When we're not at work we're looking for Holly, it's all we do x
BBKM
Praying for Holly to be home safe very soon. Keep up the brilliant work Team Holly x

I am so pleased to hear you have had some good news this week and in the fullness of time we will all know what it was - keep at it and great you know where Holly is zipping off to. Facebook can be a bit tricky so probably a good idea to have closed Holly's page. All crossed here fingers, paws etc. that before long Holly is most definitely in the blue. Best wishes. Julie x
Helen
Thanks Julie and Gypsy x
We're still actively looking for Holly everyday. We can't always both be there but one of us is and we have an excellent team x
We think we know most of Holly's movements and where she sometimes zips off to and we've had some good news this week but can't broadcast it at this time.
We always appreciate everyone's kind words and ideas and can assure everyone we will never give up looking no matter how long it takes....I can't always post on here everyday as the internet is still not working at home but I always have a quick look x
We've now closed Holly's facebook page as we have found some people were writing things on there that could put our search in jeopardy but will keep you all updated here and tell you as much as I safely can x
Gypsy
I haven't posted for a while but I certainly haven't forgotten about Holly. Keep checking in hoping to see Holly in the blue and hopefully it won't be long now!

Helen when you mentioned the high weeds and grasses, the first thing that came to mind was the high chairs that deer stalkers use.

Just want to you to know that I'm thinking about you and wishing you all the best in your search xx
DogLostJulie - Area Co-ordinator - Surrey & South London
Oh such bad luck Helen but I expect you are right in that she has moved somewhere she feels a bit safer especially now with the holidays and more people around - do keep trying you have done so well and I am sure in the end it will pay off it is just keeping the faith and persisting in your efforts which must leave you exhausted. I am hoping someone may spot her moving around and you will get the call quickly. Constantly thinking of you and wishing you all the best. Julie x
Helen
I'm sorry I haven't posted for a few days but we've not seen any signs of Holly for a few days. We camped out again Friday but saw nothing. No food has been taken since last Wednesday and no fresh beds or runs, although some of them look like they could have been used. There have been a few changes to the sight over the last week and fear she may have moved to another "safer" place. We'll keep trying and update as soon as I have something new to tell you x
AnnieSparky
Feel sure shes on her way back to you.... but had to make sure :)
Good Luck camping out....and hoping lovely Holly comes to see you x
DogLostJulie - Area Co-ordinator - Surrey & South London
Well done Helen and lets hope whilst you are camping at the weekend Holly does come and sit with you - I'm sure you must be fed up with kebabs also ! Looking forward to great news after the weekend and as always good wishes and prayers for you all - Julie x
Helen
Thanks AnnieSparky, she is lovely isn't she but unfortunately not Holly.....very very similar though but Holly only has a little white diamond on her chest and has a docked tail whereas this one has a full tail.....thanks for trying though x

Thanks Scootjockey....hope you're okay after recent events too x

Thanks Julie and everyone else who keeps looking, we're very close to Holly but she's proving a little shy, bless her. Camping out again this weekend.

Come on Holly, don't be shy poppet, mum's getting too old for all this camping out and being eaten alive by mutant midge.....oh and getting sick to death of eating kebabs! I'm sure dad would love a home cooked meal.....just this once you could sit at the table with us.....hell, when you come home you can sit ON the table if you want!! x
AnnieSparky
Keep checking from afar....hoping Holly found soon x
I know this is unlikely but just wanted to make sure....there is a lovely female black cocker spaniel in Dogs lost Found section 41524
scootjockey
Praying she shows herself. Good luck Stolen Tays mum x
DogLostJulie - Area Co-ordinator - Surrey & South London
Keep at it Helen with more people about it may be someone will spot her and it is just so hot at the moment - at least if the fields are being cut you will be able to see more hopefully. I am sure you are right about Holly hiding up as lots more people activity over the weekend and she ventures out later when it is quiet again. All good wishes. Julie x
Helen
Thanks again everyone for your ideas and words of encouragement and yes Sam we certainly are knackered! I was just apologising to Millybeau for not answering her on Facebook last night but must have fallen asleep with phone in hand and finger on keypad as that's how I woke up this morning!
My poor camping buddy is poorly and I would like to wish her a speedy recovery x

The last few days having been very trying as little sign of Holly, we think probably because of the number of people about, more fields being cut and the heat! A little bed has been dug in the sand trap tonight which would suggest Holly trying to cool down as the sand is still damp underneath and also in the woodchip pile probably for the same reason. Food has gone every night but later than usual. There are a few runs that appear to be being used more than others which all lead to the thick hedge. A few signs of runs and beds along side one of the fields too which is probably where she was hiding out over the weekend while it was busy which suggests why we saw very little. Of course I'm just speculating.
Very emotional time but we'll find her eventually x
DogLostReynard
Perhaps actualy something she is used to, chuck a dead Rabbit or Pheasant in there ,,,,,watch out for a Fox or Badger though best perhaps to put in in the morning if possible Foxes & Bdgers likley to go in at dusk :) ,,,, Good luck Helen praying for you xxx
DogLostJulie - Area Co-ordinator - Surrey & South London
Yes cat food also my dogs are big fans although it does go off very quickly in this heat and attracts flies very quickly but anything could be tried. Aniseed has been used for laying a trail in the past and dogs seem to be attracted by the smell of it - just thoughts. If anything else springs to mind I will post again. Helen and her family are doing marvellously and I constantly think of them during every day hoping for good news. Julie x
Mollychops
Thatsa really good idea JUlie, aniseed has ben been used in the past hasnt it for laying a trail, Owners are still doing amazing stuff, working to get their little girl back 24/7 Today hasnt brought anyything, but team Holly still very optimistic
Sam
What about cat food? Sounds daft but my dogs have aways preferred it to their own. Good luck, you must be knackered.
DogLostJulie - Area Co-ordinator - Surrey & South London
I was just trying to think of some sort of food that may entice Holly more than others and I wonder if you could try licorice or aniseed sweets - my dogs are always sniffing and wanting to get at licorice - I don't think it would harm Holly in the short term and a different smell in the trap may just make her more inquisitive and lure her in. Julie x
DogLostJulie - Area Co-ordinator - Surrey & South London
I think it would be a good idea to leave the trap in place and maybe move it about a bit but I can see how difficult it is with all these other sources of food for her. It is also very difficult with the grass and weeds but if you keep baiting the trap with any luck she may just go in. I'm sorry for you Helen you are trying so hard and it must be so disappointing but don't give up I am sure sometime she will appear - do the local hunt exercise their dogs around here at all I just wonder if that may flush her out although of course you don't want to frighten her into another area. Willing Holly to give herself up. All good wishes. Julie x
Helen
Thanks Raynard and Julie, we have a trap and have been cooking up a storm. The only camera we've been able to locate is from Bampton Fire Station but it's not an automatic and needs someone to physically take the photo....they've offered to do a stakeout but the grass and weeds are so high and the hedge so thick we're just not seeing her. She won't come anywhere near the food when there are people there. She has so many entry and exit points and loads of runs and tree cover, she could walk right by and we wouldn't see her! And we're not her only food source! There are herons dropping fish all along the river, hundreds of rabbits, walkers dropping bits and people throwing food off boats. She's not relying on us for anything! Very clever little dog!
DogLostJulie - Area Co-ordinator - Surrey & South London
Well done Helen - I really think the way forward is to try and put a dog trap in place with lots of tasty things in it and if you can manage to have a BBQ near where you site the trap in the evening with very smelly meat etc. it just may tempt her to investigate the area when it is quiet and hopefully go into the trap after the food. Another dog that was missing recently went into a dog trap in some woods after the scouts and guides had had a BBQ in the evening so I guess the smell of food wafting around draws them out to investigate. Is there a local rescue or Dog Warden that could loan a trap to you or failing that sometimes Gamekeepers have a fox trap which Holly would probably fit into. With good luck and all good wishes. Julie x
DogLostReynard
Yes she seems to want to be close but is still very wary ,,,the food is the key I expect not sure if you have a trap yet Helen but if food is her thing she may take it from a trap also?
Any news on a camera?
Fingers Crossed xxx
Helen
Camped out again last night....thanks again Tracy x
We didn't manage to stay awake all night this time but we only slept between 1 and 5. Very little food was taken early yesterday evening, none through the night and none so far today. I've had to come home as exhausted but cooked up some bacon about two hours ago but still no sign. We do think she possibly slept under the trees last night as it was very cold and wet out in the open. We walked a bit by the river this morning but again very little sign. Quite a disappointing couple of days.....our little Holly is getting wise to our tactics....time to change them I think!
DogLostJulie - Area Co-ordinator - Surrey & South London
Shame no sign of Holly tonight I wonder if she has found something else tasty to eat today and is sleeping it off somewhere - with good luck for tomorrow I am sure it is just a matter of time now before Holly is home with you. Julie x
Helen
Thanks everyone but the elusive little Holly has shown very littlw signs tonight and only a little bit of food gone that looks like the slugs had it (gross). Not much to tell really.

Come on Holly please even if we saw your backside disappearing in the hedge would be better than nothing!
Mollychops
Just seen the latest Helen , its absolutely fantastic !! Little minx , Not long now im sure, come on Holly time to give up , Im sure your having a whale of a time, with the yummy rabbits and chasing ducks, but your mum and dad want you back, please when you are ready !! Sooner rather than later would be good!!
Isla's Mum
I didn't see any either, I will take some with me on our next walk and pop some up.
DogLostJulie - Area Co-ordinator - Surrey & South London
Good Helen and pleased you found the blanket too ! Such a shame she won't be caught and keeps hiding up surely before long she will be in the blue. What a nuisance that the posters have been taken down too so time consuming to have to keep doing things twice. All the best. Julie x
Helen
Just noticed on our way home that someone has taken the posters down at Radcot....we only put them up Sunday and had permission from the pub to put them up! Will go back tomorrow and start again......again!
Helen
This morning some food was gone but not all and a couple of paw prints but no other signs. This evening, completely different kettle of fish....the rest of the food gone, paw prints everywhere, new runs everywhere but closer to food and I found the blanket! Dragged Holly style 15-20 feet away in the long grass and a new bed further on!

Holly, you surely are giving us the run around!
Isla's Mum
Good news on the food, poop and sleep for yourself. Bloomin annoying if it is a person rather than a fox moving the blankets (I do not understand people sometimes). If you there is anything we can help with, let us know. Come on Holly, it's time for you to go home and move into the blue. Take Care, Lou x
DogLostReynard
Helen Owl & Wispa - well done! Thats great News.
Come on Holly time to go home now darling xxx

DogLostJulie - Area Co-ordinator - Surrey & South London
I should think you are exhausted with all your hard work over the weekend etc. Good food gone again irritating that someone has removed one of her blankets though - could possibly be foxes they will sometimes take things. They often take my dogs toys and I find them a long way from where they were if I find them at all ! Is there any chance of getting a dog trap in place now as you know which area she is in ? With all good wishes. Julie x
AnnieSparky
Oops sorry ignore that just realised it says 2011 xx
AnnieSparky
Wow, you are all doing fantastic.
I know following is a bit wayward after all the info you have but couldnt ignore it. Was doing random website searches and found following from www.amissingpet.co.uk
Greenham, Newbury. Found Found: 29/05/11, Female, black field spaniel... 01635 32570

Helen
Thank you everyone....I didn't post yesterday but I was busy sleeping....finally managed a semi-early night and was in bed and asleep before midnight!

Food gone again last night and tonight and a possible new bed and more doggy doo! Unfortunately someone has seen fit to remove one of her blankets after it being there for seven weeks! Praying the other one isn't removed!!!Last edited: 2012-07-17 22:28:24 by Helen

Great news Helen - so pleased you have had confirmation that she is hiding out there. :) She's good at hide and seek isn't she? I'm sure with all the hard work you are putting in you will have her home soon. Good luck! :)x

Fantastic....you are working so hard to catch Holly....hoping its very very soon x Good Luck x

We can now confirm Holly is in the area we have been feeding and scenting all thanks to the lovely Owl and incredible Wispa!!!

We have mapped Holly's main routes. All we need to do now is catch the little buggar!

Oh my she is a cheeky little thing sleeping right behind the tent like that ! Good you have a theory about where she went too and the tracking team also went that way. Weather is just dreadful at the mo. rain all the time and every day too. Keep at it she must surely be in the blue before too long. Julie x

It appears that our little Holly may have slept right behind the tent last night while we were camping! Cheeky monkey! And we had a theory about where her next movements were which just happens to be in the same direction that the amazing Wispa tracked her today. Thank you Owl for travelling all the way down here to help us x

It really was an extraordinary experience to watch the incredible tracking team Owl and Wispa work today, again than you Owl.
Unfortunately the heavens opened and down came the rain.....drenched! Sank in the swamp and nearly lost both my shoes! Got drenched through to the skin!
DogLostReynard
Very pleased Owl & Wispa is there with you Helen, good luck to all of you xxx
DogLostJulie - Area Co-ordinator - Surrey & South London
Well done Helen on the camping and sending good luck wishes for Owl and Wispa tracking Holly down. Love Julie x
Mollychops
I hope the tent didnt leak Helen ! Camping out is a fantastic idea, along with a barbecue to lure her out with the cooking smells. This wretched weather, just makes everything like this so difficult . Owl has come down to stay today with Helen and Jason. She has brought Wispa her intrepid tracking dog. They are out there now searching. Well done Owl and Wispa, and very good luck !!
Helen
Camped out last night with one of Holly's search buddies...thanks Tracey....managed to stay awake all night but saw nothing!
Thanks for the tent Millybeau x

Come on Holly, it's nice to see your little clues but we'd rather see you! xLast edited: 2012-07-14 12:00:39 by Helen

So frustrating. She is a clever little poppet. Has Ghilleys tracking formed what could the triangle? Try soaking dried foods in your meat juices. You are doing a fantastic job and you will find a way. Good luck stolen Tays mum x
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Positive thoughts to all of you searching in this atrocious weather. Perhaps you could soak biscuits in juicy gravy to make them more appetizing? Am keeping fingers and toes crossed that Holly is found very soon.
DogLostJulie - Area Co-ordinator - Surrey & South London
Yes weather absolutely awful and Holly will have found herself somewhere to keep dry and out of it I should think. It might be the biscuits don't smell as much as the meat so not so tempting. Come on Holly as soon as the rain stops time to come out and go home. Julie x
Mollychops
The weather is just dire . Im sure Holly will have found herself somewhere she can tuck herself in, in the dry . Well done Jason . Come on Holly , get your self seen again when the rain stops X
Helen
Rained off again! Flaming weather!

Jason did a three and a half hour stakeout this afternoon and saw nothing!

Only bird prints today....we don't seem to get paw prints when we just put biscuits down....is this because she will try to only eat protein and fat? One of the blankets had been dragged a bit. Saw something move the nettles but couldn't find what it was and the runs in that area are about three times bigger than the rabbit runs round there....Is that you Holly....don't be shy poppet x x x Last edited: 2012-07-12 20:13:16 by Helen

Helen definately trust your instincts, especially as Ghilley's behaviour seemed to say he had picked up her scent. So hope you find your precious girl very soon. Good luck to Team Holly xx
scootjockey
I agree trust your instincts. Helen your so in touch with Holly arnt you and
I know what you mean about being drawn to a particular point I have a place Ive always felt drawn to. Have a good feeling and thoughts are its Holly.
DogLostJulie - Area Co-ordinator - Surrey & South London
I always think go with your feelings and gut instinct - with the paw prints, towel being dragged around etc. I feel you must be so close. I also think dogs are not often wrong and with Ghilley behaving as he is surely this must be Holly. Julie x
Helen
I so hope so....we've always concentrated on this area and although I've sometimes doubted myself I've always had a feeling about this place.

Millybeau at least we didn't end up on our back's in the muddy bank tonight! And you forgot to mention the bramble you had to untangle from my hair so I could get out the hedge!
DogLostJulie - Area Co-ordinator - Surrey & South London
Wow Helen it is just too much of a coincidence it has just got to be Holly especially with Ghilley showing such an interest I am so hoping that I will log in and find her in the blue very very soon. Willing Holly home to you. Julie x
Mollychops
Helen Its all sounding so hopeful, Im sure She is out there somewhere, its too much of a coincidence not to be, Come on Holly, time to come home X
millybeau
You forgot to mention barbed wire fences, oil seed rape, thistles, stinging nettles and bits of various trees that I am still picking out of my head!!
And I would do it all again in a heartbeat if it helps to bring Holly home.
COME ON HOLLY SHOW YOURSELF XX
Helen
Amazing response at such short notice from Holly's search buddies, thank you x
My word is this frustrating....

Loads of paw prints....two in the sand trap....some on the track and loads by the river bank. Her towel had been pulled on one corner....Holly was always dragging her towel around the garden. And Ghilley was fratically tracking through loads of tracks in the long grass and through the hedge (sorry Millybeau and Tracy) but still no Holly.

Was it Holly trying to drag her towel and got disrurbed?
Is it Holly's pawprints?
Is it Holly that Ghilley is tracking?
I like to think so.....the sightingings so far tie in with all our movements and Ghilley's tracking.
Looking forward to seeing what the next few days bring. Go team Holly!!!
DogLostReynard
Good news on the sighting Helen ,Good Luck! x

WE HAVE NEW INFORMATION!

Holly was seen 2 weeks ago in the fields near Tadpole bridge and told another dog walker who reported it to the police.....we're not sure which field but PC thinks it was Clanfield side according to the description given.

We are heading out there now to do another search if anyone is available please come and join us x

Have just looked at the picture - my best guess would be a goose - are there any canada geese etc. around I think they have three claws on a webbed foot but I am not an expert ! Keep up the good work. Julie x
Helen
Thanks Ladies,

Well tonight all the meat and fish has gone from the new sand trap and blanket but there was an incredibly strange footprint left....the positioning of it suggested it sneaked in from behind the tree and it looked like a cross....I've put a photo of it on holly's facebook page MISSING HOLLY to see if anyone else has any idea what it may be.....we've lived in the country all our lives and have never seen anything like it....please feel free to take a look and make suggestions!?
Mollychops
My dogs eat a lot of grass atm, and it goes throught the system very fast I find. Not just grass too, lots of other wild greenery too!
DogLostJulie - Area Co-ordinator - Surrey & South London
I think foxes would eat grass much like dogs do but I wouldn't think they would eat a large patch or anything - if you are seeing a large patch it may be badgers as they make quite a mess getting at insects etc. in the soil. Really pleased to hear you spoke to the Fire Brigade too they are good people and I am sure will help all they can if they are available - good luck. With all good wishes as usual. Julie x
Isla's Mum
I don't know but google and found a site on foxes (http://www.thefoxwebsite.org/urbanfoxes/urbandiet.html), although it focuses on urban fox diets, it does say that basically will eat almost anything. Not sure if this helps or not.

Fingers crossed on the thermal camera and please do shout if you need anyone else checking on any specific areas.
Helen
Can anyone tell me if foxes eat grass?
Helen
Thank you everyone for all your birthday wishes....I only have one and I'm sure you all know by now what it is x

No Holly but food gone from original sight but not from new ones which unfortunately suggests fox but we'll continue to do as we've been doing as I did find more faeces that was definately not fox.

I spoke to Bampton Fire Station Manager today, they have a thermal imaging camera and may be able to help on a stake out later in the week, I will be speaking to him again and will keep you updated.
millybeau
No news again today, but maybe the next few days will bring news. Come on Holly out you pop please x x

I would have been out searching with you but live too far away. Well don Team Holly on all you hard work xxx

Hi, I was there on sunday with you all, just wanted to say Helen if you needed people to just go sit in trees and watch out for her all day then let me know, I'm not at work at the min so have much much time on my hands. Can't get this little one out my head so may as well sit there worring about her as sit here worring about her. X
DogLostReynard
Well done Helen & all the others I was with you in spirit & wishing you well, you have made good progress. Good luck for some very good news soon x
DogLostJulie - Area Co-ordinator - Surrey & South London
Well done Helen on today's work I am sad that it didn't turn out as I would have hoped for you but press on and keep the faith. Are there any specialist camera shops around you that could maybe loan a night camera to you? I know the fire brigade have thermal imaging cameras might be worth asking if they could help - if they have a slack period and one of them could be freed up they may assist you. I wonder if it would be worth putting a trap in place anyway as if you catch any wildlife you could soon let them out - just a few more of my thoughts. All good wishes to you. Julie x.
AnnieSparky
You really made progress there.....wish I could help with the camera trap. Dont know if its the sort of thing you can hire.....but I just searched for wildlife night camera trap on Amazon and see you can buy them though they are about £100-£150 each.
Was thinking if there are signs of a dog wandering there (hopefully Holly) ie prints and faeces could a trap be put in place anyway to try to catch it? Or do we need more evidence that it is a dog first?
Sorry hope you dont mind me sharing thoughts....bet you are all tired after a long day. Fingers crossed for news of Holly soon xx
Helen
Well what a day!

First of all huge huge thank you to all the people who came to help....there's no way on this earth we could have done as much as we did without each and everyone of you x

Although we didn't find our Holly today we did have a few positive signs where she maybe hiding out. We found a couple of possible beds, some paw prints in two possible locations and 3 sights of dog faeces which is a first. We also feel we can now rule out several areas. We have been back there this evening and the treats we left this afternoon have been eaten and we found a duck carcuss although probably a couple of weeks old but the bones had been stripped bare which suggests it's not a fox as I think a fox would have crunched up the bones, unless anyone knows different?

We are even more desperate for cameras now but not have been successful yet.....we have laid more sand traps and food and hope if this is Holly we can keep her in this one place....once we can get her on camera we'll consider a trap.
AnnieSparky
Me too.....I would have been out searching with you but live too far away. Am still keeping a lookout on websites etc.
Well done Team Holly on all your hard work xx

Mollychops
Any local helpers out there !! Hollys fantastic owners would love it if you could help with the search on Sunday X
Helen
I CAN CONFIRM IT WAS DEFINATELY HOLLY SEEN BY RUSHEY WEIR ON THE 1ST JUNE.

I spoke to the guy who saw her with an interpreter.....she came out of the trees (could have been in the rape) jumped up at the gate just like in her photo, ran along the fence, mooched about in the grass then moved away in the direction of the Trout but not that far as he lost sight of her after about 150 feet! In light of something sleeping on her blanket, the food always going and the paw prints in the sand she could be still in this small area.....the grass is waist high there's trees for cover and rape fields behind the trees.

We think her triangle is now between Barcot where Ghillie was found, 200 acre field (her first sighting in the fields behind the pub) and Rushey Weir (her second sighting).

We are planning a search of this triangle Sunday at 10:30 meeting up the track towards the construction site if anyone can help.

Thanks to everyone who is already searching.......I've been out tonight throught the grass fields that have been cut but saw nothing, had to leave earlier than usual but left you some lovely treats Holly x x

We are just back, sadly we did not spot Holly, I will see if we can do the same area tomorrow or Friday. Come home Holly xx

Come on Holly time to come home. drive and walk the same routes daily. thanks everyone for your help and input, we just need to keep going and bring this little lady home. Yes Julie what a nice pressie that would be for Helen and her family. Thanks again.

Isla and I will go for a walk tonight along the thames path from the Trout to Radcot (or as far as we get with the light) and back to see if we can see anything (I will also take some posters and speak to anyone else I bump into to and pop some sausages in my pocket).
Helen
scootjockey, I've posted on Tay's page, hope it helps x

Helen - do you have a local scout or guide group they may be willing to help do some searching for you or maybe even postering at the Faringdon Festival, just an idea and let's hope as it is your birthday on Sunday you get the best present of all and Holly is found. Julie x
Helen
For anyone fancying a walk tomorrow, we got rained off tonight (drenched again!) but the grass field next to the trout has been cut which is where Holly was first sighted and we keep trying to cover the back streets and alley's of Bampton but there are so many nooks and crannies we've not been able to cover them all....we are currently doing to the right of the roundabout coming from Buckland Road.

Thank you all again for all your ideas and support....we can't always answer everything but never ignore anything x
Helen
I am looking for volunteers to poster Faringdon Festival this weekend....we're doing Fairford Air Tattoo on saturday and big search sunday and it's my birthday so suppose I ought to do something for that and are stretched a bit thin..........
Helen

Helen
Strung up with cheesewire wouldn't even cause as much pain as we've been put through!

I agree with all of you but unfortunately a £550 phone bill and just as much spent on petrol and probably another £200 on printer, paper and ink cartridges has pretty much wiped us out so not really an option at the moment.

Couldn't get to one of our food traps as too wet but food gone from the new one but no prints.....so either it's a giraffe or something has flown in, which is probably the more likely option.

Going to see if the local military college will do some flight training exercises with their thermal imaging over the rape fields instead of over our house at 2 or 3 in the morning!
BBKM
I agree with Scootjockey, a reward offered for information that leads to her being found may be a good move. She has to be somewhere....keep going Team Holly you are all doing great. Hope you get that lead very, very soon xx

Hi Helen and Miiybeau your doing a great job with no stone unturned.Any thing that keeps Hollie in the public eye is a must, remember posters!!!! Its not helpfull and it does hurt when your dogs FB doesnt take off (I do Know)at the moment its bleak,no sightings and nothing to share but your thoughts which you cant always share, these are the worst and loneliest times. If only we had a pet detective. Its a quiet time for Hollie however take comfort from the fact she hasnt been forgotten. And she hasnt vanished from the face of the earth tho it feels that way. Dont forget theres no such thing as the perfect crime an there will be someone who can enlighten you! it may take time but im sure as your theif isnt an animal lover that too much thought was put into it and will have dropped a bollock!(soz) Could you offer a reward for information Helen. I too check daily as Im willing Hollie home lots of luck and best wishes stolen Tays mum.XXX PS signiture is my way to keep Tay in profile.

Do you need any areas/walks checking whilst we wait the seed is cut. I am in Lambourn and normally have a spare couple of hours each evening so I can take drive up and take Isla out for different walks to see if we see Holly (don't know the area but have OS maps and can work out some routes).

I noticed Holly and Ghillie's poster has gone from our village police station, I will print a new one out and pop it through their letter box asking if they can put this up.

Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help.
Mollychops
Ive uploaded a new photo of Holly,

Sorry Julie, didn't mean to ignore you......we have a Duck and Teal whistle, will give it a go......really must get off to bed!

So many wonderful people thinking of us, helping us, sharing your thoughts and ideas in the search for our precious little Holly......I really wish you could all meet her when we find her (and we will!), she is the most delightful character you could ever hope to meet and we miss her so very, very much.........

We've been out to check the blankets/sand/food tonight....some food gone from one sight but no prints in the sand and nothing from the new sight.....checked the newly cut grass fields nearby and drove back through Bampton and Clanfield but nothing....

Thank you wickedweims for the help in searching for a camera.....I look forward to that call.....will keep you updated.

Helen I was thinking again today and wondered about those whistles that sound like a duck I am sure I have heard people using them in the past - not sure if they use them to lure ducks in but just wondered if that would be worth a try. I am sure shooting people would know what they are called - hope it is not me just going completely mad. Hope you have had a productive day today it has been wet and miserable all day here today. with all good wishes. Julie x
DogLostJulie - Area Co-ordinator - Surrey & South London
Just a thought Helen any way you could fire some shots from the shotgun where the food is being taken and where Ghille gets excited - it may be you can't but I am still wondering if that would possibly draw Holly out as it would be a familiar noise to her unless you feel it would scare her off. Poor Ghillie and all of you so frustrating for all concerned. Sending good wishes for tomorrow and good luck. Julie x.
Helen
Thanks AnnieSparky and Julie, we were waiting to confirm that it is Holly before setting cage traps but we're still trying to track down a camera, have a couple of ideas to try tomorrow.

Didn't take Ghillie today but did on Friday night and yes he dragged me down the track air scenting for about a mile but unfortunately he can only manage about 15 - 20 minutes then gets too tired and frustrated so we don't push him. He so misses her as do we all!
DogLostJulie - Area Co-ordinator - Surrey & South London
Good luck Helen with the food and getting an infrared camera. Did you take Ghillie with you today I was just wondering if he was excited again being back in that area ? Yes never enough hours in the day we could all do with a backwards clock I feel ! Thinking of you. Julie x
AnnieSparky
Wish we were closer to help with Holly but know we are willing Holly home....you and Ghillie are doing so well in your search.
If the prints are a dog, is it worth thinking of a cage trap....or is it better to have a sighting first or I guess see with a wildlife camera as you suggested (like the ones they set up on springwatch!) first in case it is a Badger or something. Keep going, we are cheering you on xx
Helen
Thanks Julie but now we've seen the print in sunlight we do think it's dog......we've relaid the sand and put more food down today and laid two other food and sand lures elsewhere......we're currently trying to find someone with a infrared camera to set a camera trap. We've also re-searched some of the fields near Black Bourton as we felt we couldn't ignore Ghillie getting so excited in that area but again have seen nothing. The weekends seem to go so fast and there isn't enough hours in the day to cover as much as we'd like!
DogLostJulie - Area Co-ordinator - Surrey & South London
The only other thing that came to mind was wild boar as they would probably eat meat. J. x
DogLostJulie - Area Co-ordinator - Surrey & South London
The only thing I can think of with two pads would be sheep, cattle maybe some sort of ruminant but would not have claws - how very bizarre - and they would not eat meat will keep thinking about that one ! All good wishes. Julie x
Helen
Rained off again! There is definately a print in the sand but we can't work out what it is.....the toes look very similar to dog prints but the pad is in two whereas a dogs is one pad....I've searched the internet but can't find anything like it......does anyone have a clue to what our mystery animal could be.....whatever it is is probably eating the meat and fish too! (we've ruled out fox, otter, duck and badger, it's too big to be rodent and nothing like rabbit or deer).Last edited: 2012-06-30 23:38:56 by Helen

Helen it is a pleasure to be of some small help to you. Keep up the good work you are not alone we are all willing Holly back to you and you are constantly in my thoughts. With all good luck and best wishes today. Julie x
Helen
You are all so kind I don't know what I would do without you. It's so uplifting to know I'm not alone especially when I've been pacing the fields, climbing through hedges and ditches (most full of water!) often on my own as hubby often works late and weekends and can't always come and driving endless tracks, to come home empty handed wondering what on earth to do next......to sit and read all your comments and ideas gives me a huge amount of strength and drive for the next day's phone calls, e-mails, facebook messaging and twittering (can't get my head round this one though).......(if my boss is reading this, I do work honest!)

Thanks for the media tip Gypsy, I have e-mailed the shooting times but now I have contact I'm sure it will help.

We do have a facebook group MISSING HOLLY and twitter @helpfindholly

We'll be trying some of your ideas over the weekend so will keep you posted.
Gypsy
Hi Helen. I really wish I could be more than an armchair observer and offer your more practical help in your search. I will continue to share Holly's details online and do as much as I can in that regard.

I know whilst helping other owners how difficult it can to get the media on board. This is just a suggestion...but Selina Masson a journalist/editor of Shooting Times Mag had her black Cocker also stolen and she registered him on Doglost, see link http://www.doglost.co.uk/dog_blog.php?dogId=21070 It might be worth contacting her to see if she can offer any help in the way of contacts etc.

Does Holly have a Facebook group? This might be another way of raising awareness and getting others involved. Sorry if this has already been mentioned and discounted.

You aren't on your own... we are all here to support you. Sending you lots of positive thoughts and good luck. I really feel for you and can't imagine what you are going through. I know its difficult but stay strong...I'm sure all of this will be worth it in the end...when you get Holly home. xxLast edited: 2012-06-29 22:03:07 by Gypsy

Helen - just another thought is there a microlight or glider club anyway near you? If they could get over the top of the rape field they possibly could see into it and can cover quite an area. Julie x
DogLostJulie - Area Co-ordinator - Surrey & South London
Helen I should think you must be exhausted with all you have done and are doing just wish I was closer to you to lend a hand. Shame the rape is too tight for Ghillie but lets hope they harvest soon. It may be Holly has a den in amongst it as it is so thick. I will keep thinking of anything else and if anything comes to mind will let you know but for now sending love and best wishes to you. Julie xx
Helen
Sorry I didn't get chance to reply last night Julie, we were so tired!
Holly's never had a squeeky toy but will try anything so will give it a go. Loving the shots idea but unfortunately the rape is too tight for Ghillie to get through.
We've been using the whistle, tried calling and keeping quiet, scenting, luring but nothing yet.
I've been trying the news papers/local news and radio for weeks but can never get anywhere....apart from once on radio oxford....I'm still working on them doing a follow up and will kepp everyone updated on that.
Mailing offices/depots have posters up in both and local posties are aware. City Link couriers have them in their depots but aren't allowed to put them in the vehicles and so the councils for Oxfordshire/Wiltshire and Berkshire.....Air and sea freight forwarders have covered the docks and airports......I've have been postering the local truck stops and they have fliers to hand out too......you have made me think of the gas oil deliveries though as they quite often go to the more remote locations, will get on to that today.
The local hunt have been helping to spread the word and did a search for us on the ground the first weekend Holly was sighted.

Some good ideas thank you.....will get cracking on them today.
DogLostJulie - Area Co-ordinator - Surrey & South London
Are all the local postmen aware and do you have couriers around the area - any chance the couriers would put a poster on their vans so people can see while they are driving about - worth asking I would think. Also do you have a local hunt nearby as their slaughtermen would drive around picking up deadstock from farms and if they could carry posters and give them out maybe another way of spreading the word around. Also lorries from local or not so local firms perhaps another help in fact any companies that travel around the area also dustmen. Haven't made it to bed yet still thinking hard ! Julie x
DogLostJulie - Area Co-ordinator - Surrey & South London
Just another thought - is Holly trained to a dog whistle ? My neighbours have working labs and they use one sometimes it sounds like the London to Victoria trains leaving the platform !! If she is used to a whistle would be a good thing to blow around the area and certainly with the gun and Ghilley. Am off to bed soon - hoping to hear great news soon - all the best Julie x

Thanks widget, need all the support we can get at the mo.
Even if your not here its nice to know that people have not forgotten XXX

Local papers not really interested. Helen did an appeal on radio oxford but it did not throw anything up as in sightings or anything. Thats a good Idea re walking the rape/gun and ghiley. I will text helen now and get her to look at this post and see what she thinks. Thanks again and keep your good ideas coming. XX
DogLostJulie - Area Co-ordinator - Surrey & South London
Yes it is so hard for you all but my dogs like squeaky things and sometimes dogs will come out to investigate - I am constantly thinking of Helen and Holly. Do you have a local paper that could help out with an article about Holly at all ? Any way you can arrange someone to go into rape fields with a shot gun and fire some shots skywards as if Holly works that could help draw her as it would be a familiar noise and of course take the lovely Ghilley with them. Just thoughts I am in East Sussex so not close enough to help on the ground but will keep thinking and if I get a better idea will be in touch again. The bloodhounds that helped with tracking for another dog would also be a good plan. Love to all of you and especially Helen. Julie.

Im too far away to help but wanted you to know that my whole family are thinking of you and wishing Holly home safe. We keep checking hoping there will be news soon....Please stay strong xx
millybeau
Thanks Julie, Its so hard not knowing where Holly is. I dont know if she has a squeaky toy as she is a working cocker, but will ask Helen. Its nice to know some people are still thinking of her.
Need to try and get the media involved in some way as we may have a very large area to search when the rape fields are cut. Hoping that a tracker dog can confirm the sightings and we will take it from there. Thanks for the idea re-squeaky toy.
Keep in touch x
DogLostJulie - Area Co-ordinator - Surrey & South London
I am too far away to be of any help on the ground, please keep the faith I am sure Holly will show herself again it may be she has found a nice quiet place to sleep and has water and food nearby - are there wooded areas around which would offer her good cover. Does she have a favourite squeaky toy at all which you could carry around with you and give it a squeak now and again ? I am trying my best to rack my brains to think what else can be done - you are so committed and have done so much I am sending love and prayers that Holly will soon be back with you. Julie V. x

Andy can you keep tweeting for Holly, cos I just dont get this!! Bazil, I wish you lived closer too. Helen seems to be really struggling now. Owners are both so tired and everyone seems to have forgotten about Holly. I live close to where Holly was sighted at buckland but I drive the same route every day looking and calling, but dont know what else I can do for them??
And anyone else who can offer any advice. YES PLEASE
millybeau
Another long evening ahead of you as you go back to the site where you have put Holly's bed. I cant understand why more people are not willing to give advice? PLEASE ANYONE.

Helen please dont be saddened by this, as you know most of bampton are looking for her and a few other people who are working in and around the area of bampton.
Stay positive and keep your chin up. More of the fields seem to have been cut and baled in the last 24hrs so maybe she will show herself soon.
CAN ANYONE OFFER ADVICE OR HELP HELEN SEARCH????? WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE??
Holly come on we need you home. x x
Helen
I feel that we are really struggling now.....not knowing if we're searching in the right places or doing the right thing even....what is the next step when you've not had a sighting for so long? Are we doing enough and if that is the case what else can we do?

Holly's facebook and twitter pages took off really weell in the first couple of days but we now struggling to gain new interest, does anyone have any ideas with that?

I don't seem to be able to get any media attention because I don't have any new news, does anyone have any ideas with that?

Should we still be scenting and searching at Holly's last sightings, does anyone have any ideas with that?

Really at a loss and don't know what to do...it's so draining and upsetting...please someone give us some direction????
Helen
Went out later than usual tonight just to try something different......we know most of the signs to look for but can anyone give us any tips that would rule out either fox or dog?
Helen
Bazil you do help with your continued support and kind words...it's people like you that keep us going.

Usual haunt tonight, a few tasty treats out there for you Holly, hope you find them.......please show yourself little lady we miss you so much x x x

So wish I lived closer to help you get your girl back home safe xx
Helen
IS THERE ANYONE OUT THERE WITH ANY MEDIA CONTACTS.....I'm struggling with getting any media coverage at all.

Thanks scootjockey, we have been very careful what we've put on here....there is a lot more going on in the background that we don't/can't write but agree with every word.

Thanks for the offer Andi, I've only been a tweeter since last night and need as much help I can get with Facebook and Twitter being technically challenged and all that.

Isla's mum we'll hopefully be doing a cleansweep search soon and we'll be desperate for as many helpers as we can get, thank you.

Back to work but I've called/e-mailed all the usuals this morning.
Isla's Mum
Helen, I have recently moved to the RG17 area and work near Didcot so if let me know if there is anything I can do/search etc just shout. Followed Holly on both FB and Twitter and have twetted that she is still missing.
Andi
Sorry to hear you are not having much luck, but if you want to use Twitter to it's full effect I am happy to offer some advice? I raised @findbadgers account to 750 followers in the end and we had a couple of "sightings" reported as a result of Tweets. It's easy when you get the hang of it - daunting at first! I have been tweeting for you and managed to get you 40+ followers but you really need to start tweeting now to keep them and get more - happy to help if I can with that? Good luck with your search and hope today brings very positive news xx
scootjockey
......You have to wonder the purpose of the Brampton sighting if not genuine.I think it has to be as a decoy, back track to the point you where at before that call or the plans you where making and what you where discussing on here or Hollie`s FB. Remember your dog theif probrably reads all Holly`s posts and will be a member of her FB, mine is, im lucky because i know his real name and found him lurking behind a company name I suspected I would as soon as I saw it as a member of North West DL FB. and it has 1300 members. Keep your eye on stuff like this! hes also a member of a co-ordainator! You have to search for a stolen dog in a different way to a missing dog and get your detective head on. Was the sighting before brampton genuine?the one before that?has she ever been running free?if she was stolen. Do you think she was stolen by an opportunist theif or was it premeditated ?if later then its someone who has seen your premises or been there and knew what you had and what they wanted.. I remember before the Brampton sightings, posters were a concern did you ever find out why?posters beng removed could be a positive i feel, it could mean she`s still in the area.Willing your baby be back home saftly soon.xxxx

MOLLYCHOPS AND OWL FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT AND ADVICE

Amazing people we couldn't have got this far without you!
sarah.dugdale
Just a thought - Quigley's owners had bloodhounds and handlers to help with tracking, the area co-ordinator is Shereen (he went missing from Watlington, so I guess whatever area that comes under) I'm sure she could get you the contact details.
millybeau
Steve is just doing the twitter page for Holly now! XX
Helen
millybeau you are an abolute blessing, we cannot thank you enough for everything you do for us....I don't know what we would do without you.

Sorry I've not been able to post for a few days but as our amazing millybeau explained we had no internet for a few days.

It's been a very trying weekend with lots of highs and lows and had two occations where we thought we'd found Holly, one Friday and the other this morning but unfortunately not.

We do however have a plan......we are desperately trying to find a tracking dog and owner to determine if Holly is still in the area of her first sightings. (we're not treating the third sighting near Bampton as real as there are several strange occurances around the details). Once we can determine that she's in the area we will cleansweep the rape fields once cut. This is going to be in a few weeks time and there will be a huge amount of organising to do and we will be desperate for search volunteers. I'll let everyone know more once we have confirmation that Holly is still there.

We are aware that this is probably clutching at straws but at this point in time it's all we have. We will still be out there everynight searching and scenting just in case or until we can get another sighting.
Mollychops
Ive bumped Holly as she is in the Faringdon newsletter today. Well done to Millybeaus hubby for creating Hollys facebook page. Thanks also to Millybeau for all the support you are giving Helen, its so frustrating when the trial goes cold, Fingers crossed this brings some fresh news. Thanks Skippy, My hubbie is going to set up a facebook page later today for Holly and he is also on twitter.

It is already on several sites on facebook but a page of her own would be good so hopefully like you say if someone has picked her up it will make her too hot!
Thanks for the offer of help with the facebook page, if we get stuck I will give you a shout.
skippy
Sorry to hear there is no further news of Holly...really wish I was closer to help out on the ground. I think the facebook page is a really good idea. A group (or community page) is great for coordinating efforts and things to be done, and also allows a way for people to 'share' Holly with their friends and spread the word amongst non-doglost friends. If you know anyone that knows what they are doing with twitter, this is also proving a more and more effective way to spread the word.

I really hope that Holly is still hiding out in the fields and will show herself when the rape is cut, but if she has been picked up by someone, this sort of campaign really helps to make her 'too hot to handle'. If Helens internet is playing up at the moment, perhaps if jules could get the ball rolling by setting up a facebook page, and add Helen to admin once it is done.

For inspiration about the sort of things a facebook page can achieve, I have copied the link for Brooks page - (missing dog 29259) Brook owners work tirelessly to get their boy back, but have nearly 4000 group members to help them now.

https://www.facebook.com/?ref=tn_tnmn#!/groups/104217123000692/

If I can help at all with facebook, I'm more than happy to.
millybeau
You might not see any posts on here from helen this weekend as her internet is down at the moment.
She is still out looking for Holly at every available moment, so much so that she is wearing herself into the ground. She is so tired but so wont give up looking for her beloved Holly.
Problem is we dont know what to do apart from keep covering the same ground! Or to wait untill the rape fields are cut in the hope that she shows herself up near the trout at tadpole bridge, which was where a black cocker spaniel was sighted in the very early days of Holly being missing.
How do you know that any of the sightings are genuine? Helen is waiting for the call either with a positive sighting or to say Holly has been found. That would be a dream come true for the whole family.
Any ideas would be really welcome.
Not really sure how lost dogs get back to the top of the page either? Some say there has to have been a sighting?
I am in constant contact with helen so any ideas like i said earlier would be welcome then I can text them over to Helen and her family. Thanks Millybeau
BBKM
Keep checking here, sad to see Holly is not home yet xx
jules
hi helen , you set up a group like they do for selling and you call it something like 'Missing Molly' then add details and pictures, the tell us on here what the group is called and we add all our friends and they add theirs and so on until the whole country knows about her x if you need help come back to me x
Helen
I'm not sure about that Mollychops, we're jut doing as much as we can. Every night we try to work out what to do next.

We can't do Faringdon Festival as we'll be doing Fairford Air Tattoo all weekend but I will e-mail the organisers tomorrow and see if there's anything they can do for us or maybe we could rally round some volunteers?? I've been a bit limited this week as most of the internet stuff I have to do at work as connction at home is really slow and drops off the line more often than it's on and I've been so busy afteer two weeks off it's not been easy to sneak things in.

Jules I'm a bbit technically challenged with things like facebook and Twitter and attempted to turn my own Facebook page to all abouut the dogs but it didn't work.....I'll give it a try though....perhaps someonee out there could give me some tips?

We are in the Faringdon "What's On" mag on Monday and I'm waiting on calls from ITV central and Meridian and BBC1 Radio who are currently reviewing our story.

We tried looking tonight but it was hammering down.
jules
Helen have you tried making holly a page on facebook, when Tia the spaniel went missing she had a page and it seems the whole country was looking for her x
Mollychops
The email I forwarded to you from Rose re the festival has come back , dont know why but if you google Faringdon Festival you can see the info there
Mollychops
Helen you are just doing amazing brilliant stuff. You are staying strong, positive and very very focussed . You and Jason are one truly amazing couple. Ive emailed you details yeasterday of a lady who had her dog stolen In Oxfordshire too, she got her back, and along her way she got loads of useful info , which she wants to share with you . Reynard just emailed me a link about the Faringdon Festival which kicks off on July 6th I think it was . If Holly isnt back by then it will be A good place to put some posters up, as it looks like it will be very busy. XX
Helen
usual route tonight, scented some of the rape fields in case Holly is hiding in there somewhere but there are so many.......poster and fliers now in the kebab van in Bampton and by the way his kebabs are delicious, left some chicken for Holly, hope she finds it.
Helen
Thanks millybeau, we did a mailshot to vets, kennels and rescue centres when they were first stolen but will need to check the list as can't remember who they went to and it wouldn't hurt for them to get another one anyway. I think we're going to have to go back postering a lot of areas as we're seeing fewer and fewer.....it's like banging your head against a brick wall!
millybeau
Helen, just had a message from my Kate, saying now the fields are being cut around there might be a good idea to poster all the local vets in witney and carterton. Like kate says if you take a poster in they will put it up but if you ring them it will just be logged in a book. She is going to do the vets she works at today. Also Vets that are further out can be emailed with the poster of Holly, just ask them to print it and display. X
Helen
We postered the pubs last week but they don't seem to have put them up buit I did notice a few in windows tonight.....I also postered the kebab van but noticed tonight it wasn't there so asked why he's taken it down and he said someone asked if they could have it!? He's kindly offered to put one back up and keep some fliers to hand out if anyone asks for a copy but I din't have any left tonight so will go back tomorrow.

There should also be one in budgens, the therapy rooms, the cafe, the notice board (the one in the bus stop has been removed) and I went door to door on both sides of the main street from the recreation ground to the weald. The recreation ground on the back of the board and the bin, the bus stop by the Aston road houses...and door to door from the Trout to Bampton of the stand alone houses.Last edited: 2012-06-19 22:41:37 by Helen
jules
everyone who puts posters up in bampton say the same about them being removed, have you asked the pubs in bampton as i see they have little billy in the window.
Helen
There were posters at the Trout and the board on the left of the bridge where they fish but they keep taking them down even though we had permission to put them there....oh and the pub weren't very welcoming after we'd been in there several times!
millybeau
Why do they keep taking down the posters in Bampton??? I know Jules put posters up as I have seen them, my hubbie and I drove all up weald and RAF bampton castle at the weeekend. Stll one in bampton on the notice board by public loos. I checked today. Did normal route today then over to clanfield then Alvescot/black bourton, brook road, chimney. Come on Holly. Time to go home xxxxxxxx PS Jules. Will pm u on f/b
Helen
Thanks everyone.....

k9chum....Jason was searching Clanfield area Saturday, I'll check if he did Marsh Lane....we walked the fields opposite all the way to the road to Black Bourton Sunday but not a sign.

scootjockey....they'll harvest the rape about two weeks after they spray it so look out for that and is generally July but could be earlier this year as it grew more than usual October/November time....I pray it's earlier. We have rape all around us here and Holly used the rabbit runs to get about although generally came back to her recall.......I've just read a section on lost dog behaviour and it says "lost dogs will look for/stay close to familiar scents that remind them of home"......there are rape fields surrounding the areas of her second sighting so am wondering if she's hiding out in there (more hoping!). We've been walking the perimeter of a lot of them hoping we're leaving enough scent. Foxes are drawn to compost heaps so maybe that's what lures your cocker. I haven't seen any obvious ones near to Holly's sightings.

jules.....thanks for postering the weald, I put fliers through doors up that way and the paddocks last week and we've been down there nearly everyday since Holly's first sighting and only ever seen one dog there.

I've had a drive round tonight and followed a tractor and mower up the road but got pushed on by the traffic and couldn't find him when I finally managed to turn round. The grass is usually cut by now for silage but it's been so wet they are late and the fields round there are still quite boggy in places so may cause them some problems but at least they are starting to cut it.
jules
K9chum i put the posters up the weald, if you go further on from the car park i put them down there as well as i work down the bottom, i have been watching the travelers camp and there are no new dogs there, my office is in the middle of the fields so if holly was to appear down there in the day i would see her. hopefully someone will put some posters down by tadpole.
scootjockey
When do they crop the Rape, its impossible proper needle in a haystack! my elder cocker nearly 2 loves running through the crops ( BIG PANIC)I Ive learned now he`ll be found in the compost heaps on the land belonginging to nearby cottages. Could be hedgehogs or rabbits attracting him I really dont know. But we really do have to go in there and drag him out of there.he`s given us a fright or two when he`s hunting and totally oblivious to his recall but on that particular walk we`ll find him in the compost everytime. Thought Id mention it. xxx

Went to Lechlade at 4pm and came back via Kelmscot and Little Faringdon. Met a Lady with kids dogs and a pony in Kelmscot and she promised to pass the word around the farm which seems to have a lot of horses. Said the Girls will keep a lookout when riding. Drove up to Clanfield. There is a back road there called Marsh Lane, it leads to some farm buildings. Cant get my elderly car up there but wondered if anyone has been to have a look round. Drove to Weald and saw the only poster by the car park. I now know where the travellers are.Swung thro Bampton, checked the playing field
and then drove slowly towards Buckland much to the annoyance of commuter traffic. Did'nt see any posters around the Trout area but that could just be me. Passed thro Buckland Gainfield and Home. Have you spoken to the chap who keepers Buckland Warren? This is the wood that boarders Gainfield, Hatford, up to Carswell golf club, close to where Ghillie was found. If you hav'ent I'm happy to go and see him.Last edited: 2012-06-19 18:16:34 by k9chum
Helen
Thank you so much Bazil.

I've just heard all the grass fields around Tadpole bridge are being mowed and they've just finished spraying the rape so it won't be long before that is cut......less places for my girl to hide and more chances for another sighting!!! Yaaaaay! Time to come out Holly!!
BBKM
I keep checking here, hoping that you get a positive sighting of Holly very soon. It may be that she has made herself a cozy safe den somewhere, within easy access to food or water and she only comes out when hungry. Stables, old barns, unused huts/sheds just keep checking any that you see when out looking. Dense bushes not far from pubs and B&B's too, where she can smell food too. The sound of other dogs tend to attract a lost dog too, so along with the Kennels where she was sighted, also any farms or residentials who have a barking dog/dogs. Good luck, you are a fabulous owner who could not do any more than what you have been doing stay strong. Well done millybeau too, keep going everyone, i am sure she will be seen again very soon xxx
Helen
Morning millybeau.....not sure yet, we think it'll be the fields either side of the river by the Trout.....Jason's ringing as soon as he gets out the yard this morning.

WILL THE PERSON WHO SAW HOLLY ON BUCKLAND ROAD WALKING TOWARDS THE KENNELS PLEASE COME FORWARD AND GIVE US MORE DETAILS.......your call will be treated with the strictest of confidence, WE JUST WAT TO FIND OUR LITTLE HOLLY!

millybeau, I can't express how grateful we are to you....I didn't finish work til 6 and Jason 10 so didn't do any searches tonight but drove through Faringdon, Radcot, Clanfield and to the Vines in Black Bourton, doubled back to the Weald and through Bampton to the recreation ground, then up to Tadpole bridge and thought I saw something in the field so sat in the gateway for a bit but nothing. Then down to the bridge between Cote and Chimney and back over Tadpole Bridge, through Buckland and across to Charney Basset, then on to Lyford, Goosey, Baulkin, Uffington and back home but saw nothing.

Sorry I missed your call k9chum and thank you, really appreciate your offer. I work 20 miles from Holly's last sighting and am the only one in the office on Thursday's and Friday's so it's not easy to leave at the drop of a hat and Jason's usually in the middle of a field somewhere!

Jason did hear on the grapevine today that they may be cutting the grass fields over that way so is trying to find out exactly where and when. It may be an idea to stand on point while they are cutting because if she is there it may push her out.......any volunteers most welcome. I will update as soon as I know anything.

This is my 3rd attept at writing this as keep losing the bloody connection!!!

Drove usual route twice today and went up to clanfield stopping, looking and calling your name young lady. Please pop up and show yourself. Camt wait for the day you come home little girl. X

Thanks Skippy I do know him and have spoken to him and others.

I know exactly what you mean.....I get butterflies everytime I drive down our track hoping she's already home and I wake up at the slightest movement on our drive, just rabbits and pheasants so far.........
skippy
Hi Millybeau - man at recreation ground is called Glenn. email came from Parish website page I posted about last week, but can pass it on to you if you want it
millybeau
Like you I feel a bit deflated and useless at the moment. But lets just keep going and hopefully she will show up soon. We keep saying (steve and I) What would you wish for when you open the curtains in the morning, And we both say We hope Holly is in the garden. COME ON HOLLY WE ALL LOVE U XX
Helen
Millybeau you are absolutely amazing we are so grateful for your help and everyone's kind words and you're right I am exhausted but more frustrated.....just praying for that phone call that says "I've just seen Holly" rather than saw her a few days ago!

We've been back out tonight driving around...we tried postering but everyone we came across already knew which was amazing.

Come on Holly....please, please, please show your face so we can find you, then you can meet all these amazing people and they can see for themselves what an amazingly lovely little dog you truely are! x x x
millybeau
Skippy, do you have a name for the man who looks after the recreation ground? I might know him! And yes Helen is exhausted and very emotional.
millybeau
Right just had a message for one of the greyhound yards on the buckland road. 01367870581. So give them a call in the mornimg. You never know what it may bring. Also all the dog warden numbers listed below. If you cant do it, just text me and I will first thing. x
skippy
Well done Millbeau!!

Helen please try and stay strong. You must be exhausted, you have worked so hard, and it must be so frustrating especially when you have to be back in work tomorrow, but there will be people looking out for Holly when you're at work...all of the people who have seen her posters, or you have talked to or dropped leaflets through the doors of.....just this afternoon, I had a email reply back from the man who looks after the recreation ground in Bampton... he hasn't seen her, but will keep his eyes open and hopes you get her back soon.

People will be looking, and all it takes is one of them to be in the right place at the right time. Hoping tomorrow is a better day!x
millybeau
Helen, Dont give up hope now, all we need is for a sighting and to be informed asap. And if you cant get there I bloody will! I can get out of work with a moments notice so dont worry about that. I will go anywhere you need me to. I am only a phone call away. I will continue to do usual route untill I know otherwise. We all want Holly home safe and well as soon as poss. Lets hope this week will bring good news. DONT FORGET I AM ONLY ON THE END OF THE PHONE. HOLLY SHOW YOURSELF! XXX
Helen
Thanks Mollychops, I know how busy you've been and to be honest don't know how you fit it all in!

Been the worst day ever today really feel completely useless! I have to go back to work tomorrow and will have two weeks work to catch up on as nobody covers my job and it's tearing me apart......nobody looking for my little Holly until tomorrow night, I falling apart at the seems and can't stop flamimg crying which isn't helping anyone!!!
Mollychops
Sorry Helen not to have posted on here in the last couple of days , just helping other dogs too. You are just the best owner a dog could wish for, Holly and Ghilley are so lucky to have you XX You are doing an incredible job here , I wish I was out there helping with the search but im with you in spirit
Helen
Thanks for this morning Filo.

Walked most of the fields between Ghillie's last tracking to Clanfield and Black Bourton but nothing and Ghillie wasn't shaowing any interest what so ever.

Filo, brilliant idea to ask the military if they want to do a tracking exercise! Will get on to it tomorrow.

Giving Ghillie a rest this afternoon but am going to try him up Buckland Road this evening.
skippy
so wish I was closer to help you search for this gorgeous girl tomorrow. I am keeping everything crossed for you that she shows herself again soon. Come on Holly - time to go home!!
millybeau
Yep I know. Steve and I went out again and drove all the way up weald again and right back to lew on the curbridge side. Also the brook road and back up to the trout. But nothing.
I have more numbers for you to try but I find it very odd and confusing that there seems to be so many different numbers for dog wardens in the area!
Cherwell dog warden 01295227001
oxford dog warden 01865252887
south ox dog warden 01491823203
West ox dog warden 01993861020
Some of these numbers are different to the ones you already have the only one that is the same is the vale which is the same as listed below. May be worth a try but how far you would get today with emergency staff,I have no Idea. But give it a go. We need another sighting of her to know where to go from here. I hope you get enough people to help sweep the area tomorrow, but I am afraid I wont be able to as out for most of the day.
Can you text me your email address?
Helen
Tried Charney Kennels Thursday thanks smurf.
Thanks for all your help today millybeau, to be honest I'm not sure if last sighting was reliable enough....weKve plastered so many posters in the whole area everyone we meet now knows about it but still nobody is seeing her. There is a never ending supply of areas that are just fields she could be travelling in, if she's still in the area at all!!?

We seem to be at a dead end again not knowing which way to turn but saying that would like to do as big a search as possible tomorrow.

If any body is free tomorrow morning to help and we can get as many people as possible we may be able to cleansweep the whole area in one go. It's the only thing we haven't tried yet and I don't know what else to do.

So please if anybody has the morning free tomorrow could you meet us at the Bampton recreation ground around 10:30 and we'll give it a go.

Thanks again everyone!Last edited: 2012-06-16 19:14:34 by Helen

Have you tried Charney Kennels just off the A420 on the A417 towards Stanford in the Vale? I believe they take in dogs from the warden the number is 01367 241063. Good luck finding her x
millybeau
We will not be meeting up today but if any one is free tomorrow to look for Holly please look out for times on here. I am sure Helen will be on later to give times and places. Thanks
millybeau
Been out looking for Holly in bampton for a couple of hours this afternoon but nothing. Please lets hope that we have more positive sightings of Holly over the weekend, can we let the owners know as soon as poss. Its like looking for a needle in a haystack! We are just going round in circles Just dont know what to do next. Anyone have any ideas please?
millybeau
Anyone free to come and help look for Holly today. We are going to cover the buckland road and then head out towards alvescot and clanfield. Any little amount of time you can spare would be great. Thanks
millybeau
Right I have more numbers The Vale dog warden is 01235 520202, and emergency out of hours 01235 524886. West oxforshire dog warden out of hours 0845 3039706. Also have you called pet log, to register the microchip number that Holly has as being a stolen dog? 0844 4633999. you will obviously need her chip number to be able to register her as stolen, if you dont have any paperwork maybe your vet will have a copy. Will get back to you with the number for greyhound yard down the buckland road asap.
Helen
Thanks Millybeau...just added a bit below....Jason will be about but I can't. I will get him to go to greyhound track as well.

It certainly is a mystery but Miss Marple always solves it!
millybeau
Oh right, maybe we should get the number for vale too then? I will do that first thing. The Greyhound yard is on the same side as kennels down a very long track. More towards the trout pub. I can speak to someone who used to work there tomorrow and see if she has contact number might be a long shot but certainly worth a try.
Done usual route today but nothing. Also asked about the woman! No one seems to know her! Bit odd! Anyway have posted to face book about latest sighting on main wall, equestrian wall and lost animal wall, so lets keep all crossed she pops up tomorrow. Will look at the map tomorrow. Give Ghilley a kiss from me and maybe see you tomorrow. Night from miss marple x
Helen
Bampton kennels don't have any spaniels at all.....number I was ringing for Oxford dog warden was 01865249811 so will call the number below first thing, thanks Millybeau. Both garden centres were closed but have been postered earlier in the week. Is the greyhound yard opposite the kennels as my daughter went in there but nobody has seen Holly.

Searched the park and surrounding trees and fields and Ghillie showed no interest in that area at all.

Went back to the Black Bourton side of the fields where Ghilley got excited on wednesday as he was sniffing in that area. Ghillie got excited in the field on the opposite side of the road to the field with the double gates and there were some paw prints in the mud (definately not fox) but when we checked the next field he couldn't pick up the scent again so didn't push it.

Drove back through Clanfield but saw nothing.

I've updated the map with today's activities, the link below isn't working but I've saved as public so can view on Google maps if click on My Places tab and select "Holly".

I can't do anything tomorrow as my daughter is becoming a teenager and have neglected her a bit the last few weeks so need to give her a special day but Jason will be somewhere between Bampton and Clanfield and of course I will keep my phone open if anyone needs to call/text.

VERY FRUSTRATED!Last edited: 2012-06-16 00:08:24 by Helen
millybeau
Helen,I am sure you already have this but the phone number for bampton kennels is 01993850671, also the local dog warden is 01993705056. My daughter is worried that you are ringing the faringdon one which is Vale and not west oxfordshire d/c. Also the vet where she works are going to change the policy for routinely scanning dogs for microchips.! Deffo go back to kennels and down to the greyhound racing yard on the buckland road. Cant understand why its taken so long for the info to get to you. So frustrating for you! I WANT TO SCREAM! x
scootjockey
Helen was she alone or being walked? also you you need to go to the kennels and see for your self what dogs they have in there, if she was being walked in that direction it would make sense she has benn taken there!!!Ive put pressure on staff at kennels and asked to see a listing of all spaniels they had though in the time Tay had been missing some have kindly obliged and I thank those who have as its so genuinely helpfull(I know its pushing it)worth a try. Hope there`s 2 of you returning today .good luck xxx
Helen
Have confirmed sighting in Bampton......Holly was seen last Saturday/Sunday walking up the road towards Bampton Dog Kennels....I asked in the kennels on Wednesday and they don't have any cockers at all...heading over there now to search the recreation ground and surrounding area again. I know it was nearly a week ago but it's taken her a long time to get there.
BBKM
Sorry to read someone is removing some of your Posters. This could be that someone does have her in that area. Keep putting them back up. I hope the gorgeous Ghillie finds his beautiful sister very soon. Good luck xx
Helen
I've mapped Holly's sightings and Ghillie's tracking (blue pins)on Google maps and linked a line and also where we've postered (yellow pins),(we've also postered a lot of the stand alone houses and farms but have just pinned the nearest towns), link below. Not sure how this will help but hoping she now heads towards Clanfield.

Helen
Brilliant idea!

Would the person who called yesterday from Bampton please call back....my daughter answered and didn't think to take a message and your number didn't come up.
scootjockey
Had another thought....Put possters in veiw of camera`s belonging to anyone who wouldnt mind checking when posters have been taken down.If someone has her and she`s not running free, they`ll probrably be the one`s taking posters down dont you think? good luck xxx
Helen
Thanks Scootjockey, there were council workers in the park yesterday and the posters stayed up so not sure if it is them. I also collared the community police officer and gave her a poster and explained the situation.......by the way, thank you to the person who called the police to say there was a strange vehicle roaming the streets of Bampton ALL day yesterday.....at least somebody is keeping watch.
scootjockey
So close team Holie your doing a great job. Have you spoke to the council who may be sympathetic and allow posters to stay for a while?! thats assuming they are taking them down!!I was fortunate whilst postering to collar a couple of council workers actually removing posters. We had a chat and luckily both massive dog lovers who were horrified by my story and agreed to kindly ignore Tays posters and allowed me to carry on with their best wishes.. Just tip I thought maybe usefull. Another village I asked the community police officer as it would be she who`s job it would be to remove posters when told too, said she hadnt taken any down and wouldnt untill instructed too and would actually keep an eye out for who was rewsponsible for ripping them down......My dog theifs a taxi driver so postering for us was a waste of time.It could help with the proccess of elimination if you approached whoevers job it is to taken posters down if there a dog lover youve cracked it. Come home soon Hollie. Stolen Tays mum x
Helen
Oh my word am I drenched....too wet to get on the land tonight but managed to go door to door in Bampton and Clanfield main streets today and Black Bourton tonight.
Also walked a few of the fields back from half way up the road to Black Bourton this afternoon, thought I saw something moving in the grass but when I charged across the field it was just a dark patch of grass that was swaying in the breeze......paranoia and hallusination has set in.....it was bad enough with the crows!! Didn't go as far as I would have liked but not a sign......had to give Ghillie a rest today but will try and take him with me tomorrow and see what happens.

I also went out to Brize Norton as Black Bourton backs on to the runway. They're not allowed to put posters up all over the base but have put one in the reception area and I spoke to the Guardsman who patrols the fence lines constantly who will keep watch.

Really appreciate everyones help and ideas....will try and speak to WODC in the morning Filo.

Thanks again Millybeau, met a friend of yours in the park today and had a good chat. Spoke to Emma and her husband last night (although didn't know names then) and their gamekeeper who are checking the fields constantly all day.

Am ringing Mike Potter in the morning and will hopefully have the exact location then.

Thank you Owl again for your help and advice with Ghillie, he really is trying so hard, bless him.

Nice to catch up Mollychops, will keep you all posted as soon as I know any more.
Mollychops
amazing work going on here, owners and lovely helpers, Millybeau Filo animalover four muscateers, you are doing awesome stuff !! Ive just tried to catch up with Helen , hopefully speak tonight . Well done everyone XX
millybeau
Hi Helen, I have a friend who works in the buisness park that is past the gypsy site, and she has not seen Holly and she looks out onto open fields from her work place, so she is keeping her eyes open. Also told loads of people who have dogs in bampton. Lots of people are looking for her. Good Idea Filo re wodc. Why do people in bampton keep taking down the posters! They are not doing any harm! Might be worth asking people to stick them in their car windows. I am going to put one in mine. Emma bridgewaters husband is actually living on site so I would go and ask him if you need to go on the land. Nice chap by all accounts. And if you get permission let me know and I will tell the farmers who work ham court land, so they dont think your tresspassing. Let me know if you get an exact location. Still looking up the brook road and shifford daily towards the trout. XX
Helen
Thanks Filo, I've been door to door postering today and had a wander that way but seen nothing.

Good to know the word's getting around.

We're still waiting to find out the exact location Holly was seen and when.
Filo
Ham Court is Emma Bridgewaters new abode, hence all the work on the barns, she must be easy to contacted. I walk daily in the field behind Ham Court and haven't seen anything at all, but will keep looking. Opposite Ham Court is the road to Weald, unfortunately there is a Gypsy site there. Might be worth contacting WODC to see if they have a Gypsey/Traveller Oficer who could make enquiries (take a peek) on your behalf. Let me know if I can do anything,e-mails are flying around Bampton's dog walking fraternity.
Helen
Just spoke to Mike Potter from Black Acres Farm, Goosey (Potters Contractors) he's going to speak to his guys and find out where Holly was seen in Bampton.
Helen
Thank you Millybeau.

It's the one opposite the Weald....there's scaffolding up on the big barn and then the main house is behind it with the entrance in a horseshoe shaped courtyard....there are two houses on the right as you start up the track.

Don't have contact details yet.

Poor, poor Ghillie, he does miss her so! He's worked so hard today...I was shocked at how excited he was! Nothing like the other day when we thought he was just looking.
millybeau
Helen, do you mean the house opposite the road into weald or in weald itself? If its the one opposite the road into weald its called Ham court. Dont know name of the contractors either but Tim would know. I will speak with him first thing. Do You have a contact number for Potters contractors? If not I will see if Tim has it. Poor Ghilley feel so sorry for him. And just keep putting the posters up. If I get chance I will go and put some more up in bampton tomorrow too. I drove round up to trout then back down the brook road twice today then back into bampton but no luck. Keep your chin up and give Ghilley a kiss from me, will touch base asap.

COME ON HOLLY PLEASE COME OUT AND SHOW YOURSELF THEN GHILLEY WILL COME AND FIND YOU.
Helen
So many of our posters have been removed....really cheesed off that these people can do this but I'll go back tomorrow and re-do them!!

Searched almost every nook and cranny of Bampton since 7:30 this morning but nothing.

Ghilley got REALLY excited in the farm estate fields behind the Coach House opposite the Weald. The owners very kindly let us drive the field headlands all the way up to Black Bourton Bridge but on the way back Ghillie was dancing about in the car eager to get out. Once out he was particularly interested in a corner of the corn field and was jumping through the corn and up on his hauches looking around as if he was expecting to see her! Then dragged me up the tramline and down another field......he seemed to get confused for a little while so I let him sit and rest for a bit while I called and whistled but then we were off again and he dragged me across a newly planted stretch that was open but I couldn't see Holly anywhere. We lost the light and had to stop but the owners and gamekeeper are going to keep looking for us. Poor Ghillie is so frustrated! We drove back through Black Bourton and Clanfield but nothing showed up in the headlights.

I got it wrong the info on the sighting came from a farming contractor from Potters Contractors who was talking to the gamekeeper and told him a member of his family had seen her in Bampton. Our gamekeeper is trying to track down the contractor to get more info but has had no luck yet. I'm going to try calling Potters Contractors tomorrow.

Thanks everyone!Last edited: 2012-06-13 23:32:30 by Helen

Sending info to a friend in Southmoor, she wasn't aware that Holly was missing. Hope that Holly is back home very soon. xxx

Good luck Team Holly......too far away to help but willing lovely Holly home x
Helen
Postered like mad...loads of people already aware.

Checked the fields round the outskirts calling and whistling....not a sign!

Going back now to walk a line from the recreation ground to Black Bourton.
Four Musketeers
Hi Helen and Jason

I've just sent out an email note with Poster Details to nearly 40 people/'dog centrics' in Bampton and wish you all well for the recovery of Holly.

Nick, Di, Scout & Nala
Helen
The dog found by the coffee shop was a black and white springer that is now safely back with it's owner.

Still waiting for the exact day and location of the sighting....maybe a slow process as a chance meeting with a builder who's parents saw her....desperately waiting for that call!

Been out there since early this morning...just come back for re-enforcements and will be going straight back.

Come on Holly desperate to see you!

Holly is in the Countrymans Weekly today, Good luck Helen xx
skippy
good luck - hope this gorgeous girl is home with you soon!
Helen
Thanks Skippy I'll do that. Millybeau has spoken to a few people she knows and they will put posters up in their windows in the morning.

I'll be there first thing in the morning doing as much as I can.
skippy
will let you know if I get any responses from the emails :-)....if the council are taking down posters outside - it might be worth going direct to the businesses - it looks like there is a community run shop (no email) who might display. (Tel: Fenella Gray, 01993 851653.)

parish website - http://www.bamptonoxon.co.uk/viewBusiness.asp?id=120 - there were a few places there that had phone numbers but no email addresses. Hope this helps!
animal lover
This was the area where I used to live, would love to be around to help you in the search for Holly. Hope you find her very very soon. xxx
Mollychops
Gosh Skippy , well done you X, great work here
Helen
Thank you everyone....brilliant response!

All the posters we've previously put up have been taken down! We've put them back and more.....the council are notorious for removing posters in that area but we'll just keep putting them back!!!.....it was a bit late to be knocking on doors but we nabbed just about everyone we saw and gave them a poster.....some already had one from last time. Checked behind any possible food sources but nothing.

There was another spaniel missing last weekend but had more white than Holly and it could have been a springer.

Somebody told me the coffee shop had found a dog a couple of days ago and had handed it in but didn't know what breed or where it was taken.....I'll be back first thing to speak to them as soon as they open.

Still waiting to find out exactly where and when she was seen but will update as soon as I know.
DogLostReynard
Good a sighting! lets hope she is tracking her way homeward , certaintly seems that way ,,,fingers crossed xxx

ok - so I found the Bampton Parish Council website, which had all sorts of useful links on it, so I emailed Holly's poster to pretty much any of the Bampton Based email addresses on there that I could find:

Bampton Primary School
Bampton Pre-school
Parish Council
Bampton Village Hall
Recreation ground
Paw-pals pet sitting services
Romany Inn
Cotswold B&B
Little Westbrook B&B
The Coach House B&B
Upham House B&B
Wheelgate House B&B

Not sure if it will do any good, but hopefully there are some doglovers amongst the people of Bampton who will keep a look out for her!

Hope she's home with you soon.

Everything crossed, I hope she is back home with you very soon.

Holly's been sighted in Bampton, a couple of days ago, only just heard. trying to find out more info....will update as soon as I know.

Can't get out there for at least an hour, have to sort an incident from yesterday but will be there as soon as I can.

Please please please, if anyone from Bampton knows anything give me or doglost a ring.

keep going, wishing you good luck today as too far away to help.

millybeau
We will keep doing the same this end Helen. Dont give up, still very early days. Let me know what they say at Buckland house, and If the game keeper has any clues. Will be out first thing looking then off to work. Then Steve will do a drive by on his way home, then will do another dusk check. x
Helen
I think we may have finally discovered what/who has been eating the food off Holly's blanket....don't get excited, it's DUCKS unless Holly's suddenly developed webbed feet!

Finally discovered how to get into Buckland house, will be there first thing. They have camera's all over their grounds and will see if I can persuade them to check them for the last two weeks. And bumped into the woodman from round that way who gave us the number of the Buckland gamekeeper (the only one we didn't have).

Going to try and contact Phil Gayle from BBC Radio Oxford again and see if he'll announce that we are still looking for Holly and to check all outbuildings. I've re-e-mailed the TV news, papers and radio to see if we can get more airtime.

Still no sign, keep driving the same roads.....don't know what else we can do?
millybeau
Yes think he is as desperate to find her too. I think he would keep looking untill he dropped bless him.
Yep thats all you can do is sit and wait and watch. Let me know what you see. Good to Finally meet you. Speak soon C
Helen
Thanks for this afternoon Millybeau.

Thought Ghillie was interested in the nature reserve area but in actual fact think he was just looking for Holly, bless him, he does miss her so.

Checked the scented areas....food gone from blanket by the weir again.....going to sit there tomorrow morning and see what it is.

Holly we need to see you again to know where to look we're truely running out of ideas!
Helen
It was a bit of a long shot, we were late leaving this morning because we had to clean the chickens out.

Ghilley was showing some interest by the nature reserve this morning so we drove all round that area and the otherside by Duxford but no luck. We've just popped back home for a bite to eat but we'll be back at the nature reserve about 3 if you want to join us. I think there's a footbridge that crosses the river somehwere down there that comes out in the fields behind Duxford, so thought we'd walk it through and back to the pub if the bridge is there.
millybeau
Oh sorry only just seen this post Helen, I looked at 8.30 but obviously your message was left after that. Any luck today? Loads of people are keeping an eye out for her. Maybe if you read this soon I could come out this afternoon? Will log back on in a bit x
Helen
Thanks millybeau....do you want to meet us in the layby by the pub the other side of the bridge in about an hour.
millybeau
Well it seems to me that you are doing everything right, but if you need an extra pair of eyes, ears or feet, please let me know. I would be happy to do what ever you want to get Holly home where she belongs. x
Helen
Thanks millybeau but we really are stumped!

Although saying that we have been speculating today and plotted the map (again) from where Ghillie was found to Holly's sightings and the areas Ghillie tracked and the areas we have walked and have driven, then we added the days and times. The theory we came up with is that she really is following us and it seems a day behind us or two if it's been raining. So I think we need to just carry on checking the areas where she was sighted (just in case) and keep driving the same route home. It may be our imagination and wishful thinking but Ghillie seems to be sniffing the air in different places every day and each day a little closer. It sounds unbelievable writing it but at the moment it's all we have.

Oh Holly, I so can't wait to see your little face when we come back from a long walk look up at me and say "what we doing next then?!"
millybeau
Do you have a plan for tomorrow? I will walk anywhere u need me to tomorrow. I dont know what to do next, I wish I did. I really feel for you. HOLLY COME HOME PLEASE.
Ideas anyone????
Helen
Checked food on blanket at Rushey Weir and was gone again, have put more down.
Asked the construction workers if they've seen anything but nothing. There were some guy's sorting out the trees by the river and one had been there last Friday when she was last sighted but hadn't seen her.

Some family walked the river banks on the pub side and handed fliers to the boat people who said they'd keep watch but haven't seen anything.

We drove all the roads again and handed fliers out by the nature reserve but none of them had seen anything.

Can't really do traps as there are a lot of dog walkers in the area.

Going back out tonight at dusk, just to try a different time of day.

Thank you for all your kind words yesterday, we really do find all the support uplifting.

What next?
Gypsy
Happy Birthday Holly! Make your parent's day and come home sweetheart x Everyone is so worried about you. Might it be worthwhile using a trap in one of the areas Ghillie has indicated?

Helen, I just listened to your radio interview on bbciplayer. Lets hope someone was listening who knows where she is. Keep going with this campaign to find Holly, I will help in whatever way I can. I have been out a couple more times calling and walking by the trout but nothing. .................Right Holly, time to be found its your birthday today. You never know there might be a cake waiting!
Helen
I would just like to say thank you to everyone that is helping us.

And a special thank you to Mollychops, Reynard, Owl, Millybeau for all their additional support, Oxford Radio for covering our story and the Faringdon "What's On" magazine for giving us half a page in their next issue.
DogLostOwl
Glad you got on radio, Helen. Every dog has his own unique style while out tracking a missing dog so finding out what your dog is trying to tell you is a question of practice. He is doing very well to get any scent at all in this weather. Looks like he was showing you where Holly had rested in the grass. Yes, I agree with k9chum that she may be trying to follow scent from your vehicle as well as from you and Ghilley.
Helen
Just been on Oxford radio at 9 with Phil Gayle.....you can listen again tomorrow from their website....http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcoxford/programmes/schedules/2012/6/8
Helen
No sign again and the weather is awful.

Come on Holly, it's your 2nd birthday tomorrow x
Helen
Thanks k9chum, we were just plotting a route around that area, we've already postered Stanford, East and West Hanney and Grove but going door to door tonight in Charney Basset, Goosey and Denchworth. We don't know Gerald Collins personally but a friend said he already knew when she spoke to him. We have family in Farmoor and Cumnor so those areas are covered if she goes further that way.

We're goign to try and drive a direct route from Kingston Bagpuize to home to try and help her along the way if she is following the scent of our vehicle.
k9chum
Yes it is possible that Holly is scenting your vehicle. If she has crossed the A420 at Kingston Bagpuize then she is heading in her home direction. Lost foxhounds are quite capable of scenting their own way home from a considerable distance and Holly could well be doing the same. Is it possible that she is now heading towards Charney Basset, Goosey or Stanford itv. Please post if you think so. If she is going towards Appleton and Eaton then Gerald Collins is your man as he Is the Game Keeper for that area.Last edited: 2012-06-07 12:35:55 by k9chum
Helen
Thanks k9chum I will add to my list of people to call today.

We went back to the Longworth area last night and postered the other side of the A420. Ghillie behaved very strange again and got all excited just on the edge of Kingston Bagpuize. He walked me up the road and accross the back of someone's garden (we asked permission first). We got the local gamekeeper out to let us through the gates and he dragged me through a little copse on the edge of the town but then again stopped and led down on top of some long grass that had already been flattened. I have no idea what his behaviour means and tried internet searching dog behaviour but that was useless!

I do wonder if our little Holly is trying to follow the scent of our vehicle....is this a possibility?

I'm back out today postering a bit further afield, hopefully right up to Appleton and Southmoor. I'm not sure there's anything else we can do until we get another sighting.

Thanks again for everyone's help and support, we really couldn't have done this without you.
k9chum
Please try the Blue Cross at Burford. Iknow she is microchipped but that does'nt always stay where it is supposed to. Re the blanket. That could be a fox taking the food of the floor but not going onto your blanket because of the scent of humans and Ghillie.
Helen
Thanks Millybeau.

Yes spoke to the guy with the springers a couple of times. we've postered Radcot and Clanfield just in case.

Stuck at work, very frustrating!

Come on Holly show your face today!
millybeau
Hi, Yes must have just missed you. Went right up to chimmney tonight too, stopped and called and then right back down to the trout. Lets hope that tomorrow when all is back to normal with work, that some one has picked her up and is waiting to take her to the vet to be checked for a microchip! My daughter is a vet nurse in witney and she said that this very often happens over a long weekend. Some people dont sense the urgency of this sort of situation, especially if the dog is quite happy being with them. Lets hope tomorrow brings good news. But I will be out looking tomorrow evening. Might do the walk down to rushy lock tomorrow if that helps. Or if you would like me to try a different area please just say. Talking to a young lad I know (the one with 5 springers, he said he had met you?) He seems to think that she may have gone over clanfield way. Dont know about the food on the blanket! Very strange.
Helen
Really appreciate your help Millybeau and thanks for the boost Reynard.

We went door to door at Duxford, Longworth and Hinton Waldrist just in case she's following the river that way and they've not seen the posters.

Drove every road and track in the area....we'll get arrested for scouting before long!

Checked the scented areas but no food taken. It seems as though the food at Rushey Weir gets eaten if left on the ground but not if left on the blanket, not sure if that means something?

Drove round for a bit but still no sight nor sound.....must have just missed you Millybeau.

Have to go to work tomorrow but will be back out tomorrow night scenting. I think this all we can do now until we get another sighting, although we're thinking of starting at Duxford and walking the river back to the pub.
DogLostReynard
With the weather being bad people are not so much out and about hopefully she will be sighted soon when peeps are back to normal, she has probably been moving around trying to get her bearings, lets hope she will now make for home, fingers crossed xLast edited: 2012-06-05 18:55:41 by Reynard

I have walked it twice today from the field nr chimney where the two swans are sitting in the field right up to the trout pub. Just off out again in a min to have a drive around.
Lets all just keep looking, I am back to work tomorrow but I will go and look after work. And of course I will check on here for updates. I will also update facebook. If you do another search I will be happy to help. Cant imagine what you are going through.
Helen
Thanks Millybeau, it's been closed every time we went past.

Checked scented area...a little food taken from Rushey Weir but nothing at 200 acre field.

Walked the area again, checked local farm buildings, tried Ghillie again to see if he could pick up scent where we left off yesterday but he's not interested so didn't push it.

Drove every track we could get down but nothing.

Checked with Bampton Kennels but he's had no cockers at all.

Handed fliers to the few people we saw.

Completely out of ideas!

I have also printed a poster off and put it up in Aston village shop this morning. Will be back out looking later today.
Mollychops
Great Millybeau! Good luck today Helen XX
millybeau
Hi Helen, Yes of course I will do that for you, I will go and do my horse first thing, then I will walk that route early. I will do it again late morning. Will be in a blue Isuzu trooper, and I will park on the bridge on the chimney side and walk the fields from that end. Lets hope we find her. Does she have a fave treat? xLast edited: 2012-06-04 23:41:26 by millybeau
Helen
What a godsend, would you mind walking the fields from the chimney road next to the bridge towards the pub. As far as you can manage would be great. We're going to be pushing the side fields back as we're trying to get her back to where we've scented.

We won't be there too early tomorrow as just got back.....thought we saw something black dart through the hedge in that bottom field but again disappeared when we walked it up but wasn't sure what it was.

Thanks again everyone we are so grateful for all your help and couldn't do it without the fantastic support we've had.
millybeau
Helen, if u r planning another search tomorrow, let me know and I will join in, I will go anywhere u need me to go and search. post on here and I will check first thing in the morning. Lots of people are rooting for Holly to come home safe and well x

Helen
Thank you Millybeau....we've walked from the bridge near Chimney to Aston with Ghillie today but no luck yet and gave all the dog walkers a poster....loads of people today.

Come on Holly, we need to see you again, we miss you so much x
millybeau
Hi Helen I have just shared the poster on facebook. We live in cote nr Aston and saw poster on a gate in cote. We walked the thames path this morning but sadly saw nothing.
We will continue to look when we can, I hope she comes home soon
Helen
Been out since 4 scenting with mackerel....oh my word I stink!

Ghilley was very interested in the crossroads between Chimney and Aston and dragged me down the road towards Aston, he's not shown any signs of showing an interedt before this and was leaving scent all the way.

Loads of dog walkers out today....gave as many as I could catch a flier but have had to pop back home but will be going straight back x
Mollychops
Thanks K9 chum . Me and Reynard were only says yesterday as we were sesrching, I wish we had a horse, as that would have been the best way to get about as everything is so long crops etc, you could access and see so much more

Have spoken to the farmers who farm Dairy farm at Duxford. (Rushey weir is on their land) and given them the mobile number. One of the children will be riding out today so will have a good veiw of the surrounding fields. They have promised to keep a good lookout for her.

I keep checking here, praying for Holly's safe return very, very soon. You are all doing brilliant. Hope Ghilley recovers from his terrible ordeal, I'm sure the moment Holly is home this will help you all get back to your normal everyday life. Good luck, stay safe Holly xx
To the nasty cruel scumbags who stole these much loved pets and caused all this stress and heartache...I hope sometime soon you will suffer for doing this.

Helen
Thank you so much for today! It's so uplifting to know there are so many people out there who want to help.

We've just popped home but will be back out at 6 to walk a line of strong scent from the first sighting in 200 acre field to the right of the pub all the way down to Rushey Weir, the second sighting.

Getting difficult to poster as a lot of roads are closed into the villiages for street parties but have been door to door to the houses surrounding the two sightings but have a few farms to do.

Come on home Holly, Ghilley misses you!!!
Mollychops
Owners have been around and about all day searching in the area she was sightedin , from early this morning and will still be there late tonight . We popped over earlier and had a look about.Saw the lovely Ghilley , he is very quiet and shying aaway from peeps atm and owners suspect he has been knocked about The rape is very high , and all the grass has gone to seed now, lots of places too where she could be hiding out. Owners will be doing breakfast barbecues at first light tomorrow at the two points she was sighted , bacon and sausages , shame Ive got to work !!They have put posters through all doors in this area, most houses stand alone and its very hard going, owners couldnt be trying harder to get their lovely girl back. We've just heard, Holly has been seen roaming the fields on the other side of the road to where we were yesterday at Buckland March opposite the Trout pub. She was seen this mornning by some construction workers near Buckland House but they didn't see the poster until tonight. Thanks for letting us know guys.

Morning can't come soon enough so we cann go and find her......we won't be coming home until we do!!!
Helen
Thank you so much everyone, I really can't express how grateful we are for the help.

We've been postering Southmoor and bumped into the local gamekeeper who is keen to help, Stanlake, Aston and bumped into the retired Gamekeeper who was also keen to help and will have a look round. Also, the Newbridge pub and anyone who was walking their dogs on the way.

We've also alerted anyone we know in the area but still no sign and to honest still don't know if she has been let go.

I've tried the local radio stations today but to no avail, will keep trying. Don't seem to be able to get any replies from any broadcasters/publicists so if anyone has any contacts in that world it would be a great help.

Was thinking of trying to start a campaign "Got Ghillie but Where's Holly?" but have no idea where to start, if anyone has any ideas please, Ducklington Young Farmers Show could be a good start.
Mollychops
Thanks Johnson you are doing a great job X
Johnson
My niece & nephew go to St Hugh's. Lots of parents are in doggie world so will spread the word & posters this wknd. Also sister is running jubilee party in Letcombe Regis on Tuesday. Will get posters out here as all the local dog community will be there + farmers etc. we'll all keep eyes & ears peeled for Holly. I am based in Ruscombe, Berkshire. Off walking my dogs now so will get posters printed & handed out all round as much as I can. Keep your chins up, we'll get her back. Mx
DogLostReynard
This is such good news good luck for today x

Ive bumped Hollys page due to a possible sighting in a field near the Trout pub at Buckland . Owners have been out until very late searching local villages , they have a large team helping them as well with the search which is truly fantastic!! Last edited: 2012-06-03 16:59:15 by Mollychops
Helen
Just got back, no sign of Holly. We've been door to door with the fliers Barcot Lane, Sandy lane, Hatford, Little Hatford, Gainfield, Buckland, St Hews School and any stand alone houses in between.

Barcot is a field away from Carswell Golf Course off the A420 just outside Faringdon heading towards Oxford.

Ghilley is well but looks like he's put on weight. He was waiting by the gate when the Lady came home from work and she called us straight away but said she thought he's been running. Could do with a tracker after this afteroon's rain! We'll take him to the vets tomorrow just to get a clean bill of health.
Mollychops
Bumped as Ghilly has been found. In Barcote near carswell Golf Club Owners are still out there now where he was found searching and calling. Postering will be done in this area and I will ask for alerts to go out here. Not sure exacrtly where it is yet till I google it !! Last edited: 2012-05-30 21:48:22 by Mollychops
Helen
Just had confirmation that Chris has a cocker and a large black dog, so I think the lady we spoke to was mistaken.
Helen
I've just heard that a friends duck and chicken went missing from Lechlade last week. I've asked her to notify Dog Watch.
Helen
Thanks everyone,

I had a call yesterday at 5:15 with a possible sighting in Manor Road/High Street Shrivenham on Friday evening/Saturday morning but he couldn't remember which. The guy thinks it's definately them as he paid particular attention as he'd not seen a pure black cocker before but he also said the man walking them was very relaxed and even stopped to stroke his dog.

Description I have of the man walking them is 5'6-5'8 slim build, grey hair but not old.

There's a 3 1/2 mile dog walking circlular route around Shrivenham that we tried to cover last night between 6pm and 9pm and handed out fliers to as many dog walkers as we could find.

I also flagged down one of the local military police from the Military College and was very keen to help and took a handful of fliers to put up all over the College. he's on duty for the next four days and will have a drive about and keep an eye out for us.

We bumped into one "lady" and she immediately said "they're Chris's dogs" so we're very keen to find and talk to Chris.......if you're reading this please contact us.

Oxfordshire Young Farmers are going to add us to their weekly newsletter which will go out to over 300 members but I'm still trying to get them to make announcements at their Country Shows this weekend. We will be covering the Abingdon one on Sunday, so will ask while I'm there.

We also heard last night that some travellers were moved on from the A420 edge of Shrivenham yesterday but they'd only just arrived....we tried to find them but to no avail.

I'm going door to door in Shrivenham tonight and to walk the circular but I wont be able to do the morning run until Saturday.Last edited: 2012-05-30 08:58:16 by Helen

Oh everything crossed here for their safe return x

DogLostReynard
Well done Helen!
Contact other owners that have/had dogs stolen they may join forces or have some intel that would help
Helen
First, I'd just like to say I can't thank you enough for all your help.

Things I've done so far;

Notified:
The Police and have a crime number
Petlog
Kennel Club
Dog Wardens in Wiltshire and Oxfordshire - although they weren't any help
Gamekeepers/Farmers and anyone else we could think of in the rural community.

We've put up posters and fliers in 63 towns and villages in our local area, covering areas of Oxfordshire, Wiltshire and Berkshire

Text everyone in our phones and asked them to print the poster above and put them up in their area.....this will go as far as Scotland.

E-mailed my work customer and supplier contacts and asked them to print the poster and put up wherever they think appropriate in their towns.....still got hundreds of these to do but managed about 50 today.

Contacted Heart Radio (several areas), BBC Radio and News, Central News, Facebook and all the councils in the south east and south west asked for publicity help....still waiting on replies from most but Meridian Tonight say we might get a mention.

E-mailed the traveller liason officers in Wiltshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire to ask for them to keep watch....some have forwarded on to other departments within the council offices.

Tonight we are sending letters out to 100 vets/kennels/breeders and show organisers in the south west and east.

This morning I handed loads of fliers to lorry drivers at the local truck stop for them to take on their travels.

We should now be on Dog Watch UK and Netherlands and K9. I've not had time to look for more but will try tomorrow (although I really must do some work!)

I've e-mailed all our freight forwarders at work who in turn have forwarded to the docks and airports animal quarantine areas.

I'm now fast running out of ideas......if anyone has any I'd be glad to hear them.

Thanks again everyone.
