- Hello there. We are the fortunate couple that were awoken by Penny's barking last night. The real thanks has to go to our English Pointer, Mylo, as if it wasn't for him we would have been asleep. It was as if Mylo and Penny were communicating together. Until last night he never barked! So glad that Penny is home safe. P.S. Can I add it was my girlfriend (also referred to as the lovely lady, earlier) in her PJ's, and not me! :) Nice to know there is so many caring people out there!

- Janiejewe1649 what a lovely story. I'm into cockers all mine have been rescues so I have had age and/or illness to cope with all of them. Would I change any of it....never:o))

- Mammypat. I believe in fate 100per cent. Friend of mine loses his beloved Springer to old age/illness, decides it would be his last dog. Very, very shortly afterwards in his local shop, someone is desperately looking for a home for a Springer (puppy) (Due to an unfortunate domestic situation). Preferably with experience of the breed. Yes, my friend did take Bailey on (now 4), they are inseparable. You couldn`t make it up. ANYWAY WELCOME HOME PENNY. STAY SAFE NOWxxx ((((((HUGS))))))

- So pleased for you ladylocker that she is home and ok. We sat in the car with binoculars at the bottom of the road on that new estate as we thought you could drive through but saw and heard nothing. Excellent result once again from Penny's owners and doglost and its helpers. Hugs to Penny xLast edited: 2012-05-30 12:09:15 by BBKM

- Well how is this for a story....my friend in Peterborough 200+ miles away emailed me Pennys details as she recognized the DH4 postcode as being mine too. I decided to take my dogs for a quick walk then was going to go out know my bike afterwards to look for Penny. Then I only go and see Penny on my walk. The lovely girl who helped me had to go to work (see earlier post) when I went back later I put a poster thru her door. She was the girl in the PJ's. I love it when everything comes good. How can anyone not believe in fate

- Yeahhhh have just had a call from Penny's ecstatic owner with the brilliant news that she is home. !!!!
Well done to EVERYONE who helped search and put up posters and worked towards this beautiful girls reunion ! . It was due to the posters that the young couple who found her were alerted that she was in their area. They heard her barking late last night and went out to try to catch her. She fled into a neighbouring garden where they were able to trap and contain her and in their PJ's too !!! lol A VERY BIG THANKYOU AND WELL DONE YO THEM !!!! With great pleasure I can say welcome home Penny and PLEASE stay safe from now on xxxx

- Hi Ladydocker. Got back home just after 10.30pm. Had a good drive around all areas and a walk around country park. Some people were flying there remote control aeroplane what spooked my sprocker Maddie a bit, so if Penny was nearby she will probably have been lying low somewhere. We walked up lots of back lanes, garages and around New Herrington Industrial estate as it began to get dark. Checked Churches and around the allotments but sadly no sightings. Passed by your house a few times just incase she was getting nearer home. Hopefully we will get another positive sighting tomorrow. If possible try and get out very early tomorrow as they tend to move about at dusk and dawn. I will keep checking here for updates. I have shared on my FB Page. Stay safe Penny x

- I can not thank you enough. Ive just driven past there but did not check that area. Thought she might go to country park, no luck. If you see her will you phone me on 5846511 and I Will come immediately

- I may be wrong but I think Penny's is forming a bit of a triangle as follows:
1st point her home St Aidan Terrace
2nd New Herrington Park
3rd behind Station Road
If she is trying to get home she may be in the Our Lady Queen of Peace Church area, nice and quiet to hide during day or Barnwell school area, coming across that way to get back to St Aidan Terrace. Also check/poster any allotments in this area, nice and quiet and where she may get food. Hubby and me may have a drive over that way soon, just going to have our meal x We will bring some nice smelly treats for her xLast edited: 2012-05-29 19:27:29 by BBKM - 2012-05-29 18:30 ladydocker
- We have just searched the railway line behind station road but a young girl that just finished school said she was running back to pensa/shiney row
- 2012-05-29 18:05 ladydocker
- The park that she first ran to was new herrington park just down the road
- 2012-05-29 17:36 BBKM
- Great you have had sightings of Penny, can you tell me if the Park where she was sighted is off Langley Street? I am just looking at a map of the area to pinpoint her sightings. Dogs usually form a triangle when lost, Penny will probably be trying to make her way home. Fingers crossed for another sighting soon and then we may be able to establish the area she is covering xx

- My husband and I have been out from 4pm until now covering the same and fresh ground....nothing I'm afraid

- Thankyou Bazil,RAFAJulie amd mammy pat !
I have just contacted Penny's owners to make sure they are aware of your message mammypat.
When I spoke to her owners earlier today they said that had informed the dog warden and were checking with all local Stray kennels. They have been postering and were going to do some more. Penny was sighted in a nearby park a short while after she escaped from her garden. Hoping that Penny is back home again very soon xxxLast edited: 2012-05-29 16:01:28 by Jumanji - Co-ordinator.South.Yorkshire - 2012-05-29 15:40 mammypat
- I came across a dog I am sure was Penny on the disused railway line behind Station Road in Penshaw. When I called her name she ran away clearly afraid. A lady saw me from her upstairs window and together we searched. I had my own two cocker spaniels with me so I took them home. I printed some posters and went back searching and handed some posters out. The dog grooming parlour in Penshaw took a poster as did the local Co-Op. I searched the line along to Cox Green to no avail. I have also left a message on the owners landline
