Great news! Murphy is home. A friend of the family went out to look for him this evening, parked up and saw Murphy nearby! Rather than risk scaring him off, he called the family, who rushed over there with Lily (another lab). Lily went off to play with Murphy and managed to lure him back! Unfortunately, my phone died at the end of the conversation, so don't know if there were any more exciting details.
But, suffice to say, family is ecstatic, after a weekend of long hours looking for Murphy and not looking after themselves. Now they can relax and enjoy having their boy home.

Murphy has been sighted several times since he went missing, mostly in the vicinity of the B3046 between Farleigh Wallop and Nutley. People are out looking for him on a daily basis and we are postering all the surrounding area. There were two sighting of him in that area on Monday. Can his page be updated to show he has been sighted?
Many thanks.
MFP
I haven't seen Murphy I'm afraid but saw your poster in Pets at Home today and have emailed details onto my local Pet Pals walker in Fleet who knows loads of dog walkers in the area & asked her to spread the word. Have also tweeted and asked for RTs.
Hope you find your lad soon.

Took my dog walking in the fields betwen the M3 and the B3046 (Farleigh Wallop) this morning.
I saw Murphy's owner, who was waiting by the field near Farleigh House where Murphy has been seen more than once, including once by his owner's son. Murphy's owner confirmed there have been several sightings of Murphy in the area, including one last night. Murphy was seen in the Nutley area, which is 2 or 3 miles from Farleigh Wallop. The sighters tried to catch him, but he ran off up the hill in the direction of Farleigh Wallop. He is obviously still in the area, so could the page be updated to say he has been sighted?
I will leaflet in Cliddesden either this afternoon, or tomorrow after work. I am also going to poster a little further afield, so that if he does wander beyond the Farleigh Wallop/Nutley area, he will stil be somewhere people are aware he is missing.
The owner has done some scenting.
Anyone who can help looking for Murphy, it would be very much appreciated. He has been seen in quite a small geograhical area so far, but it is farming land, with losts of small woods and copses, so many places for him to hide away and watch us looking for him!
Meeka
Have spoken to owner and advised re scenting, BBQ and setting up a feeding station, posters are the most important thing, get as many as possible up as fast as possible, the more people who are aware of him missing the more eyes are looking for him and the more chance of sightings coming in. Will text B'stoke DW now to make sure she is aware. Good luck, all crossed here for Murphy to be home safe soon

Aargh! Sorry.

Mandi, I've tried sending the poster to that email address but it keeps coming back with an error. Is it correct below or have you got an alternative?
Amanja
Fantastic news! Fingers crossed.
Send me the poster and I'll send it out - if he is found before the end of the weekend I can always send a follow up asying that.
When I get in tomorrow I'll check on here and hopefully see that Murphy has been found! If not, shall I contact you and see if there is anywhere you would like me to look for him? Our dog will need walking by then and I don't think she has ever investigated the hedgerows of Farleigh Wallop, although my brother went to schol out there, so we know it quite well.

Thanks for compiling the list of vets, i will send you the poster shortly. After putting a poster up this morning in Farleigh Wallop i had a phone call to say that someone had seen Murphy in their garden that morning. When he went out to try and catch him he ran off. So all afternoon we have been searching around that area. We have informed a lot of people in the village and also the estate manager so a lot of people are looking out for him. I will look into scenting and maybe take one of his blankets to the place he was last seen
Amanja
If you can email me the poster to mandi.laing@tiscali.co.uk, I have compiled a list of vets and can get it out to them in a matter of minutes.
I have plans tomorrow until mid-afternoon, but if you would like help either postering, or possibly walking round the Farleigh Wallop area looking for signs/sightings, after that, just let me know. I will have to walk our dog, so might as well be doing something useful.
Do you have details from DogLost on scenting? If you think he might be in Farleigh Wallop, or perhaps even further towards either Cliddesden/Alresford, perhaps you should try scenting.
Let me know.

Thankyou so much for your offer to help. There have been two potential sightings so far both on friday evening. One of them was on Cyprus Road in Hatch Warren and the other was crossing the motorway bridge from Hatch Warren over to Farleigh Wallop. We have contacted the dog warden and the emergency vets in the area. We have also left details at Pets at Home. We have a list of the local vets ready to call first thing wednesday morning when they reopen. If you could email them the poster we would be very grateful. We have drawn up a poster ourselves which has a bigger picture on. If you give me your email i will forward it on to you
Amanja
Please put on here if there are any sightings, or ideas on where he may be, or if you want any help to poster a specific area. I could email his poster to all the vets in the Basingstoke area tonight, just in case any one is working over the holidays. Have you contacted the dog warden and all rescues in the area? If not, I can help with that. Let me know.
Murphy_missing
My dad was walking him down by St Marks school and we think he got freaked out by the hot air balloons and run off. He knows that area so well though so we think he must have run somewhere he didn't know which disorientated him. We did have a possible sighting in Cyprus Road which isn't far from where he went missing so that will be one area i put up some posters. This is the first time he has run away.
Amanja
Hi, can you fill us in on what happened? Did something scare him? Has he run away before? Is this somewhere he knows well? Is it far from home?
Live in Viables, so if you have any leads on where he could be and would like help walking looking for him, or would like some help with postering, please let me know.

Hi Murphy_missing
...is the field where he went missing long crops/grass? or short so you can see across it?

Good luck tomorrow
Murphy_missing
Thankyou for your help and advice so far, we are all extremely worried as its been over 24 hours now. It doesn't help its the long bank holiday weekend with lots of the vets being closed until wednesday. We have prepared our posters and will be taking them out tomorrow
