Sorry for delay in posting, but I did hear about Belle yesterday and was over the moon! I understand that people may be wary of reporting a found dog and commend them on their thoughtfulness, however, nowadays it is the law to report a found dog to the dog warden who should be in the know as to whether one has been lost. Even if Belle had not had a chip, the dog warden should know she is missing and be able to reunite. So we do all need to let the dog wardens know. But absolutely well done to Belle's owner for getting her in the paper! Well done to the paper and well done to to those looking after her for calling owner. Shame it wasn't sooner, but just goes to show what happens out there. One very happy ending! Well done and welcome home sweetheart! x
Neighbark
Yes - SUCH great news, and great that the paper advert did the trick, maybe they can take the credit and do a follow-up? Could they mention Doglost in the follow-up? Pity the lady who had her didn't take her to a local vet to be scanned sooner....but very grateful that she kept her safe AND returned her!

BELLE IS HOME. Thank you all for your help, you have been amazing. A lady found Belle in the road on the night she went missing and almost run her over. She managed to pick her up and because she lived in west London took her to her friends house. This lady lives out of the area so had not seen the posters. The lady who has looked after her is Donna. Donna was worried that Belle might not be chipped and didn't want to take her to Battersea Dogs Home incase they put her down. She has looked after her and today Donna's mum saw Belle in the Barking and Dagenham Post and called me. We have just got home with her. THANK YOU SO MUCH, YOU HAVE BEEN WONDERFUL, I WOULD NEVER HAVE GOT THROUGH THIS WEEK WITHOUT YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT AND GUIDANCE XXLast edited: 2012-06-20 23:33:17 by karenmc

Karenmc, many, many people will be looking out for Belle, many are not registered on the site but will look at these pages and keep an eye out for dogs in their area, other helpers will spend time looking at other sites and checking found dogs and dogs for sale as well as kennels and pounds to see if matches can be made,we will never give up on a dog and your Belle is chipped so there is every chance she will be home, sometimes it just takes a little longer than we would like, but we'll get there.I know it's hard but the invisible army of helpers are behind you all the way. xx
karenmc
I know I am being a pain but can you change the poster image back to the one with the dalmatian behind Belle. The current poster image, is when Belle had her hair cut shorter and was quite an old picture. The extra image is perfect and is very recent. Thank you
karenmc
Someone called me today and said that a neighbour had knocked on her door asking if she had lost her Cavvi on Sunday. She said that the cavvi was brown and white. I know you are not supposed to get your hopes up but you cant help it. It turned out that the lady had found a yorkshire terrier and returned it to its owner. It has been a week today and we are no closer to finding her. There are no leads at all :( Thank so much SanBarn for your call today, I know it wasn't Belle but at least I know everyone is still looking. Thank you :)

Well done everyone! Karenmc, if you have done everything in the emails I sent you re wardens, railways, vets, highways and council roads, checked all neighbours gardens, small areas where she could get stuck, then something has happened to stop her getting back and with the other things sorted, then it would seem someone may have her. PLEASE do what Spangles, SanBarn and Debbie have said. Take someone with you, or a couple of others, try talking to anyone at the sites and leave posters with them. Be careful though. I am sure I touched on this when I emailed, if so, you will know what to do re any calls. If not, or you are worried, call us or text/email me. We will respond as soon as we can. If you get any weird calls, don't worry, just tell the police and us. But very often, getting word out to the travellers can help, especially if you have done everything else. Keep repeating some of the other things as well. Rotten nuisance the laminated posters are being removed. But as has been said, maybe they have her. See if the local newspaper will help, may not, but worth a try. How about calling local radio? The schools is a great idea and worth doing some smaller flyers for the children. Dogs come back all the time, even after weeks, and all the work you are doing now is laying the foundations to get Belle home. Put up plain ones where they are being removed and save the laminated for other places or for when they start to stay up! You never know which poster or flyer is going to be THE one! Laminated is the best type to have, usually, so that is brill. Keep them going. Come on Belle, let's get you home quickly. xxx
SanBarn
I have to go to Romford tomorrow so I'll leave a poster with as many groomers as I can find, I'll also leave a poster with the PDSA at Romford and also the Harold Hill branch.xx

If you haven't already, contact all the local schools, most have a website or a weekly news letter, some have notice boards ask them to put a poster up, better still if you can get a batch printed ask them to put one in all the childrens school bags (primary schools are good at doing this) , children talk, one may just say that a neighbour or friend has just got a new dog just like Belle...only takes one person to say one thing, and emphasise the reward.....Belle will be too hot to handle and hopefully the call will come.....See if you can get hold of the Police Community Support Officer for the Traveller site and get them to go on site with you....really hope you get your baby home soon x
karenmc
Yes I think I do. I did put a poster up there on Thursday, but I will check its still there after printing more up. Thank you xxx Been to the dog pound in Fritzlands Lane today and they have only one dog there it is a black and white Jack Russell. If anyone reports one missing I would advise them to go there. Hope this helps to get someones baby home.
SanBarn
Oh that's a shame, let's hope he/she gets home soon.I don't know if you know the traveller site that debbie 63 has spoken of but it's the Eastbrookend site just off the Dagenham road at Rush Green, Where the Eastbrookend country park is.xx
debbie 63
So sorry it wasn't belle x
karenmc
I have been in touch with them it was a Springer Spaniel :(
SanBarn
Thanks Debs,I've txt the number of the Thurrock DW to Karenmc. xx
debbie 63
karen have you looked over the chase by the travellers site? poster there to x
debbie 63
good luck, hope this is belle x
Debs
I have just seen a post saying someone found a spaniel in Aveley and Thurrock dog warden picked it up last night, so may be worth ringing them. It did not clarify whether it was dog or bitch. What a beauty Belle is! paws crossed one in pound is her
SanBarn
If someone is removing posters then it could be someone local that has her, keep replacing the posters, if someone has got her they may give her up or set her loose because she's become "too hot to handle". This is where the scenting could be useful, I would say scent from where the posters are going missing, all the way back home if possible. I know your area and it's quite built up so someone should see her if she's on the loose.xx
karenmc
I have no idea where to scent to be honest, I haven't had any sightings of her, I am just taking Lilo for walks around the area and she seems to be going more than usual. We live near Martins Corner off of Parsloes Avenue and to be honest its not so easy going further afield, in fact I am spending more time replacing the ones that have been removed than getting any new ones up. I have no idea where the travelling community is, but I did go over to the circus and they said that they hadn't seen her and wished me luck in finding her. I will be calling all the council wardens again in the morning. I have since Thursday been laminating the posters so that it protects them from this wonderful weather that we are still having, however I went out and replaced 70% of them again today that were no longer there. Well done, Karenmc. You can never have too many posters, try and go furher out if you can. Do you know where the travelling community lives your way? Suggest you poster around there a lot, as well. But, remember what I said about calls, okay? Keep going. xxxx
SanBarn
Hi karenmc, for scenting I'd use yours or your dalmations as these will be a better guide for her to get home. Roughly what part of Dagenham are you in? I know some parts but it would give me a better idea as to what's in your area, industrial sites etc or fast food outlets where Belle could scavenge.xx
DogLostMajorjet (Jan) - Area Co-ordinator - Liverpool/Merseyside, North West
karenmc, I've updated the details to show up on her DL poster with the info you requested. Keep up the brilliant work and making her known everywhere. Great your dalmatian is scenting, once you get sightings you can start scenting. Have you been emailed Scenting Instructions? If not let us know and they can be emailed to you. Good luck in finding your gorgeous Belle. xxx
karenmc
There have not been any sightings of Belle so I am not sure of where to scent? I have a dalmatian also and have been taking her out for walks locally. They have both been trained to use a certain area of the garden for toileting do you think that her scent will be better than ours diluted or should we scent areas also?
karenmc
Thank you for all your information. You have given me quite a few ideas. I don't think that Belle would be at the railway we are in quite a built up area, but yesterday I laminated some posters and put them up within a 2 mile radius. Thank you so much for the dog warden contact details they are very helpful. I have already contacted Battersea Dogs home but will call them again. Can you update Belles details to say that her build is petite. My mobile number is 07804 699698 and I am offering a reward. I have added this information to the new posters that I have put up. Thank you so much for your help. Lots of people are posting Belle's information on Facebook.
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Karenmc, you are doing brilliantly! Keep going and let us know as soon as the paper is out. Emailing you with some ideas and keep postering, do the supermarkets like Tesco,Asda,Sainsburys,Morrisons. Come on Belle, where are you sweetie? Let's get you home! x
karenmc
Yes so happy about the paper doing an appeal :) nothing at all from the dalmatian, she is just whinning lots today and really restless like she is really missing her now. Doing everything that I can but feeling worse each day that goes past. Do appreciate everyones support though, thank you xx
SanBarn
Ignore the prank call,as upsetting as these calls are, the people that make them are usually teenagers with too much time on their hands,it's a shame they don't put that time to better use by being a bit more helpful! Great news about the local paper wanting to do an appeal, the more people that know about Belle, the quicker she'll be home with you. Any clues from your Dalmation? You are doing great out there, make her famous and too hot to handle. xx
karenmc
Everyone is being so helpful. My friends and family are posting this page all over facebook and as a result my local newspaper have contacted me asking if I would like them to put out an appeal. I have been to the local postal sorting office today and to one of the vets that was not open yesterday. I have also spoken to people in the street. I took my dalmatian bitch out for a walk around the local streets today so that she can scent the area. Seemed like she knew what I was thinking haven't ever seen her go so much in her life :)
karenmc
I have spent all morning on Facebook so far, I have reposted this page and asked all of my friends to do the same. Still heard nothing, only a prank call yesterday which really upset me. And support from you guys. Thank you

Well done everyone! Keep going, you can do it! Owners do you have an email addy? If so can you let us know so I can send you something. x
SanBarn
Also see if the local doctors surgeries/health centres will let you put a poster up. xx
karenmc
Thank you all very much they are great ideas. I will do that tomorrow morning.
Spangles
Just an idea but try contacting local cab firms ask them to radio their drivers and maybe drop some leaflets into the cab office and ask if every cab could display one in the window. Hope your baby is home soon x
patm
Hope this little one is home soon. We have posted on our ckcsforums and our members will look out for her.
SanBarn
You are doing great. Give a poster or flyer to your postie and the local milkman, these people are great at spotting dogs, also drop some posters off at the local sorting office so that any posties going out on their rounds will be aware of Belle.xx
karenmc
Thank you for all your help. I have been putting up posters since 1.30am in the local area. I have also been in touch with the dog warden for the area and also battersea dogs home. I went into several shops who have agreed to have posters in their windows within a 2 mile radius, plus pet shops, vets and the local animal rescue centre. I have also posted all over fb and have friends and family doing the same. I have also been out scenting very locally. Thank you for all your suggestions and support it is really appreciated. I hate being at home while Belle is still out there though, it feels like I am not doing anything. Is there anything else you can think of that I may have missed? Any suggestions are gratefully received. Again thank you all for your help. Last edited: 2012-06-13 18:11:17 by karenmc

Have spoken to owner,Belle and the owners other dog got out of the front door when it didn't close properly, the other dog came home but Belle did not. Owner has informed all the right people and has been out postering continuously. Owner is aware of scenting information.
Come on Belle, let's get you home.xx
