i often wonder about Jess,( she is my uncle's dog) and where she is now. i just hope and pray that she is in a loving inviroment and is being cared for and loved like any dog should be. gorgous girl!! i do also keep hoping that one day she may find her way back to my uncle. xxx

I have kept my ear to the ground down here and haven't heard anything, i live 10 mins from crowhurst and have not seen any news dogs like Jess in the area! I am really shocked about the CCTV footage! Did anyone check out Devils Dyke? Unfortunately i have not been able to go up that way as i am quite busy at the mo, trying to plan a wedding, but as soon as things quiten down i could give it a try?! Has Nick heard anything? Or been back down this way?? I hope Jess is found soon. Jake 21.1.05 x

I can't believe nothing has come from the cctv footage?????? This seems very strange! I think i might speak to Dee and then call the hotel and find out if the girl looked at this footage and what she saw??? If not i will ask if i or someone else can have the tape to look at??? Another place to look for hare coasers - is towards Brighton, i think they call it Devils Dyke?? A big bowl to some others, loads take place there!!! I cannot believe this dog has just disappeared!! Seems very odd!!! I hope Jess is home soon!!!

Still no news of Jess? I live in the Gravesend area and have put up posters in my local office, which serves members of the public, there has been some local coverage, I noticed in the freebie Kent Messenger a write up about Jess, I believe in the past hare corse racing used to take place on Cliffe Marshes which is near Gravesend, but has switched to Tilbury in Essex, this may be worthwhile checking out.

No news about the CCTV yet. I was speaking to a local policeman in cambridge, he seems to think that because JESS was a trained gundog, the traveling community have started to use stolen gundogs to flush out hares from cover, so that they can set there coursing dogs on to them. I wonder if the police check any dogs that they find when they approace illegal hare coursers? probabley not, they are far to busy catching speeding motorists.

Hello To you all Still no news of jess, 4 weeks is along time without your best friend beside you! I looked around the crowhurst area again on Thursday 15th, even done a tour of the Hever Road Gipsy site, no sign of jess any where. Not sure what to do next! any idea's ?

I will continue to ask around my area as there were lots of days between the theft and the dumping of things at Gravesend, so it is possible that Jess might still be Surrey way rather than Gravesend. Well done the lady at the Travel Lodge for being prepared to help. There are so many good people out there.

Great, if Jess is local then the Reporter should reach a good number of people who may have seen her. Thank you very very much to the lovely receptionist at the Travel Inn who offered to help us by going through the entire 24 hours of the tape in her own time to see if anything useful is on it. It will obviously take some time but as soon as we have news I'll be updating.

Dee the day managers number for the hotel is 01474 335310-Go on chat him up and get someone over-the items were found early morning last Tuesday-they may only keep the cctv footage for 1 week-cant speak properly at the moment as I have just been to the dentist!

Altough Jess has not been located yet, i would like to thank everybody for all thier help. its now been three weeks but i have not given up hope yet. The police were not interested in any possible CCT footage from the hotel car park, nor did they think it was worth looking for finger prints on any off the stuff found in the car park. It was found on tuesday morning and had only been ther a few hours.

Ok, been following link all week, has anyone contacted the hotel yet? have we heard anything, i saw that the labrodor is now back, could these two be related????? I have keeping my ear to the ground and asking about but no one has seen anything, the other thing i was thinking of, was if the things were dumped in the hotel car park, did the police get them to finger print? and is there any camera's on the highways or on pubs located near by, sometimes they point on the road????? If anyone wants me to do anything, please pm me and i will try my best, but i can only log in when i get a comp free at work! SORRY XX

Establishments often wipe their tapes after a few days, so someone local should check the hotel CCTV before the opportunity is missed.

I haven't been to the RSPCA in S Godstone - or Westerham, Limpsfield - and into Surrey - but it looks like they went the other way - and also that place above theA22 - the trouble is, you cannot be sure they did not put her out,so I keep asking. The owner says she's gorgeous - aren't they all, she doesn't bark or whine and is just a lovely dog - so they may have kept her - I am going to concentrate around the A25 and onto the motorway I think. Have checked with local dog wardens this morning - is there one for Caterham? - I'd bettere check.

Wow, its all been happening here, sorry i haven't been on, i cannot write passwords on my work comp, so cannot use this one all the time. Anyway enough about that, I will speak to my older Bro, who knows Dartford (nr Gravesend) and will get him to ask about! When appealing to the hotel's better nature, don't forget that they won't want people to think that their car park is rife with crime - not good when all your customers have cars. The alternative, of course, is for the police to pay them a call and they wouldn't want that either. If all that fails, let me know and I'll see if the PRs at Whitbread appreciate the benefits of good community relations.

Marian I expect you're probably right about police being needed to check hotel CCTV and if they're being no help that's a shame as that could be one of the best leads. What about appealing to the hotel's better nature (0870 990 6352) or maybe the owner trying through Gravesend police station as that's where the articles were found (01474 331055). I'm not confident about going out putting up posters on my own but I have sent the poster link to the main vets in the area asking them to put it on their noticeboard and to the main groomers for their window.

Right I've had a think about this. The Travel Inn is on the A2, Hevercourt Road - now the car was stolen from Surrey - so the thieves have come round the M25 via the dartford tunnel junction and down the A2 - I thought originally that would mean they were going to Essex/South London - but the Travel Inn is on the wrong side of the road for that - they were heading towards Gravesend and Medway towards the coast. Now there is a dodgy gypsy area in Denton, Gravesend, and some travelling gypsies in the area too. I think we need to poster wildly in the Gravesend town area and down towards the ME postcode as well as DA area. Stray kennels to contact are Viking Oak, at Wrotham Heath (Brian Milligan uses them - can we alert him asap?), and Jasmil at Upchurch, Sittingbourne. Now of course, there is the whole of the M25 area between Surrey and Dartford to also cover... that's a hell of a lot of dog wardens... but as Jess is microchipped I'd be surprised if she has been picked up by the authorities in between... I'd think she's more likely been sold off somewhere or is still with them. This is a huge area to cover, we need as many helpers making calls and sending posters all over the place asap.

Do you need the police to get a hotel to check its CCTV, becauase, having spoken to the owner, it would seem they are not very interested in this theft - AND it involved a car and contents - which is usually taken more seriously than a dog.

Its right on the A2 but in the opposite direction from Surrey, and past routes to London/Essex so possibly they were heading away and down towards Kent?

Jayne just picked up your message - it's Singlewell, which is near Northfleet/Ifield area of Gravesend, right on the A2 - if that's the case then I'd be willing to bet the theives headed right on up the A2 and over the water to Essex... or South London. Do you know what day the belongings were found at the Travel Inn? Was it the day the dog went missing or more recently? Is the hotel displaying a poster as its customers may have seen something - I can send them one if necessary. Just wondering what other help the travel inn can give, i.e. CCTV footage from the car park may pick up if the same car dumped the belongings, if Jess was in car at the time, if she was put out here etc... Live in Gravesend and will keep my eyes peeled for my namesake! Jess

We have put posters up at Hever, Hever Road, Haxted, Lingfield, Crowhurst, Tandridge and the Mormon Temple. Hever Road and the Mormon Temple were very full - we had a job finding a space!!! I ran out of drawing pins, so will carry on next week. The Crowhurst fete is next Saturday, and posters have been put up at the village Hall. We spoke to several people in Crowhurst and were surprised that they had not heard about this theft. A lady who works at a vets in Lingfield took some posters. We also took posters to livery yards in the area. I am going to try to contact the owner tomorrow. Dee ,do you know the car - some friends of mine have been watching a 4 wheel behaving suspiciously this last week.

Yes, my Suzy was stolen with a car - it was most unusual, that they kept her. My thief usually put any dogs out that were in the cars he took. We are just off to poster - I will give details of where we go later.

Hi, a friend recently had her car stolen from her drive in dormansland with her 2 dogs in. They were dumped in a lane near Marsh Green very soon after. If this is the same people they may have done the same again! I will keep a close lookout when out as I am local!

Hi Dee, I was thinking about within the estates, the leisure centre, and the library, also the shops. New Addington is rife with not so nice disareables, also i will take a look down a lane tomorrow where cars are often dumped and torched, see if theres anything unusual about. Also did anyone speak to Hazel about the Pub up the road from Hever Road, in Edenbridge? I think thats a good pub to poster near! I will take some posters out with me when i'm doggie walking. Also, I can do Tandridge - what about further over into Surrey - is Hazel still in touch? Yes the 4x4 was taken with Jess in the back. I'm afraid offhand I can't remember the exact make - but it's the sort that a certain community would love to own - that being the case I doubt it will be recovered and will either be in bits now or will have a new numberplate.

Ok, will speak to friend who lives in Crowhurst, he hears alot about whats going on! I think we should head towards on Edenbridge on this one (just down the lanes, about 5 mins away? I also live 5 mins from Crowhurst, so will try and get some posters up when i walk Murphy!
