Angel dreams sweetheart, shine bright beautiful girl. Out of sight but never gone, your soul is where it's always been - with your dad. Your tail still wags, your ears still blow in the wind, you still put your nose to the ground and you still put your head on dad's knee with those big soft eyes full of love. Some bonds can never be broken.xxx

I am so very, very sorry. Not only did you lose your girl, you also had to deal with the added pressure of not being at home at the time. Please know she went to heaven quickly. If the gate man knew a dog was hit, why oh why was it not reported??? Makes me so angry. David, sweet Bella is okay and nothing can ever harm her again. She is safe in God's arms where she will wait for you, for an interval, until are reunited once more - this time never to part again. Our special ones are taken quickly; they have already earned their wings. God bless you little one, your Daddy found you! You can rest peacefully now till you are together again. In time may your family feel peace. xxx

Oh David I'm so sorry. I was hoping that if she had been hit she was just injured and managed to run off. Poor Bella, another young dog lost to the railways...
dcjrowe
Unfortunately there was truth in the reports she'd been hit by a train, I walked along the track this morning and spotted her body at 8am, although i'm waiting for rail track to retrieve her from the line is was definately her. Thank you to everyone that has been out looking or posting reports and appeals, i have removed posters of Bella but if you do spot one i've missed please can you take it down so no one is confused by it. Regards David

We're back in the area now after travelling up from down south, new posters will be up and spread further a field.
I've spoken to the night gate man and he seems to believe a dog was hit on the track on Monday, however there has been nothing reported to Network Rail or Railtrack and the line was walked (how far i dontt know) and it's clear, hopefully i'll know more when the shift change takes place tomorrow at 6am

There seems to be mixed reports coming through, there was a definate sighting of Bella and the track has been walked as a safety precaution but there was no trace of her or a body to indicate she had been it.The sightig is almost definaely Bella and she is still wearing both her collar and slip lead.
She is still around 8 mies from home, but in an area she doesn't realy know and there is no scent link between the two.
I'm unfortunately still down south with family i have a number of friends searching the area in my forced absence.
I will need to be away for at least anothe day but will be back either thursday or friday morning, i will reposter the area on my return and get in amongst the wooded area along the railway, i have read the email Sue and will search the area with the points in mind
BBKM
oh no, poor Bella, hope she has not been hit, but if she has been hit by the train, like Fluffylegs has said she may have travelled much further up the line. Praying this gorgeous little girl is safe and found very soon xx
Unknown
contact railtrack as if she had been hit sadly her body may have travelled. she looks a very gorgeous girl but sounds as if jumpy and is easily frightened, but may have just kept running on the track, maybe check locality of railway line and see if it goes into another area and therefore another dog warden domain.ALSO GET POSTERS UP AT RAILWAY STATIONS AND ON THE TRAINS AS PASSENGERS MAY SPOT HER....
Wouild she know how to get home and how far is she from her home?
Check Highways Agency and local council for local roads.
Good luck with the search
B30
Thanks heath. I've emailed you some info that you might find useful if you happen to see her.

jcrowe are you back in Barton under Needwood now? If anyone spots her could you get over there? I've also emailed you the above info.
heath
The posters around Fradley South are looking a bit bedraggled.I will be out later with my dog, will go up by the railway track.
Unknown
poor Bella, hope she is ok. Can they not slow the trains down?
B30
Sounds like she's run off scared. Make sure the surrounding area is heavily postered. Is it possible to search any bush/overgrown areas where she could hide out? She might hide if she's frightened or injured. Is it possible to get confirmation from the train driver? I hope she's ok.
dcjrowe
hello all there's been a sighting of bella running along the railway track near the fradley arms, although we've also heard the train driver reported he may of hit her but no dog has been found around the area
dcjrowe
Hi Giles we've contacted a few wardens not sure if one was Eddie as my gilfriend phoned them do you have his number and i'll give him a ring.
I've a few friends going back to work on the industrial estate today hopefully she's been lying low there over the weekend while it's been quiet
Giles
I recently lost my dog for a few hours and I know what you are going through.
I will go for a walk along the canal this evening and look for her.
Have you contacted Eddie the local dog warden ? I have his number if you need it.He is great and will know where to contact.Have you contacted Sunnyside kennels as dogs from this area are taken there.
Hope you find Bella soon.......she will turn up !
B30
Great that the phone calls are coming in. Although it's not Bella this time at least you know that people are aware and looking out for her.
dcjrowe
I received a few phone calls regarding a Springer found in Barton under Needwood, unfotunately this is not Bella, and has now been reunited with her owners.
Thank you everyone for your efforts

Hi Sue Bella usually lives in Barton under Needwood, DE13 area which i see has been alerted. I have put posters at the Marina her favourite place due to the ducks and rabbits. And also on the sign posters on route to our usual walk. Most walkers in that area will now her hopefully and will know i'm also the landlord of The 3 Horseshoes so she may turn up there if so i will immediately update the site.

We have unfortunately had to return to family members in Dorset, We took a cll last night to say Bella had run off from the dog sitter, as mentioned below she was found by two young girls (Bella is less nervous with children than adults) the sitter then took her home in the car but when they got out she again ran off and headed out towards the canal bridge. Since then there has been no sighting. The sitter stayed out searching between 9 and 11.30. And I was out 12-2.30 and then back again at 6.30am until 2pm . We have put up posters around Fradley, and also Alrewas, Streethay and Kings Bromeley. And also in Barton at the marina and near the village hall as it's our regular walking route.
I've driven round the lanes and walked over the fields, the problem maybe she is unfamiliar with the area so i do not know which direction she may head. I've also walked the canal path from Alrewas back up to Fradley via Fradley junction but to no avail.
Unfortunately I am stuck down south feeling useless so thank everyone keeping an eye out for her. I know ahe'll be attracted to other dogs so will hopefully surface when hungry.
Sargentgirl
We live in Lichfield and have been out in and around Fradley today looking for Bella. We went looking as soon as I recieved the alert. Walked through the field area around the estate and have found alot of paw marks in the mud that were not accompanied by footprints. Walked for about an hour with no sign of her. We drove through old fradley and the new estate also drove home through the lanes. Will keep looking tommorow and will print posters off to put up in Lichfield. I hope Bella turns up soon.
B30
Thanks for your help heath

Spoke to owner, DW has been contacted and chip company and owner has put 40 posters up at the moment. Owners have had to go to a family emergency in Devon, they went yesterday hence Bella was with the dog sitter, they came back last night to put up posters etc but have had to go down again today. They can be contacted on the above numbers and family members who work for the RSPCA will be contacted. Have advised owner to place an ad in the paper, this will be looked into during the week. Have told owner Advice sheet has been sent. She will look later when she arrives in Devon, there are railway lines close by so have advised her to contact Network Rail.Last edited: 2012-06-23 16:31:37
