The sad thing is, if people are not made aware of this issue, they will never know where to look so it makes all the difference that you kind people are sharing this. If there are issues you feel strongly about it is always good to let your MP know. Verity, you did fantastic; you listened and you acted. Well done! xxx

Ah Lucy can you thank her from me if it wasn't for her I don't think we would have poppy back as quick as we did. I will try go see her myself. Yes something does seriously need to be done, it's just not fair. Thanks again everyone xxxx
LucyL
So pleased to come on here and see that Poppy has been found :-) Brilliant news!!! The farmer who saw these men pick Poppy up is a friend of mine. Something seriously needs to be done about these people, it's happening far to often and they shouldn't keep getting away with it! I will get something put on the neighbourhood watch in our area to warn locals of these men and to keep an eye on their dogs as this could easily happen again to someone else. Stay safe now little Poppy. x

Glad she's back. Have put a warning out on Twitter & Terrier Rescue forum.

Sooooo pleased this baby is safe and home! I also think its about time these individuals were dealt with by the law, severely. Over the moon sweet Poppy is safe and home! Well done owners, who obviously did everything right! And yes, she is home, which is the main thing. Welcome home precious. I would like to add that having a microchip and being neutered also helps in situations like this. x

There is an Agricultural college at Writtle, worth letting them know as students out and about. The area has dual carriageways and set back farm shops, nurseries, lots of little businesses, on road to Chelmsford and
Southend, the big dual carriageway garden centres, one big independant one. Very flat terrain all round. Lots of laybyes get posters in laybyes...and house to house leafletting as small villages where people know each other and especially pubs in public bars!!
Ask at filling stations and garages if van known.
Farmers will be silaging/grass cutting now so important they look out in the grass, but this also means that as its dry they are up all night at the mo..they will be either baling or putting in silage pit...really important to check whats going on on the farms as mostly arable but lots of activity at the mo with grass cutting, vehicles going back and forth from field to farms day and night as its dry...need to get the posters out . Try and find out any agricultural contractors and ask local farmers if you can drop posters off so they can distribute at food breaks, usually farmers wives will cook meal for workers, vehicles will have to return to frms to fill up with diesel every so often. These people all know each other ...
Theres a white van known in our area Beds..an is small transit so may be similar, may have cages in back....also try animal feed places and put posters up there.....
Sorry to ramle but the farming community may be key...lots of farmers have these odd blokes turn up wanting to go rabbiting, fox hunting, badger hunting on their land, these guys will have a number of dogs for this purpose and sunday mornings is a favourite time for them to turn up. good luck

Verity, if you can post as much detail about the van when you get it there are people quite local ready to circulate it on FB and various other sites. Also as Kimmbybear says, you need to get the Police to give a crime number asap. Put up as many posters as you can, whoever has taken her may be waiting for the phone numbers to appear and the word REWARD, get the posters up in as many places as you can, visit the local Travellers sites but don't go alone, make them aware of Poppy, you don't need to say too much, just give them some posters and make sure they know there is a Cash Reward, no questions asked. Lots of help out there so lets get this little lady home quickly x

Hi all been frantically putting posters up tonight still have alot more ground to cover..havent managed to get much more info on the men/van apart from it was a emerald green van quite new and there was 3 men, and when approached by the farmer as she asked what were they doing with the dog they said they thought they had hit her so was going to knock at the house (which was where she comes from, she was literally just outside the gateway) will get more info tomorrow will go see farmer for reg/make of van and description of the men. we will get poppy home!!

At least we know what happened, so now know where to focus, although you still need to keep those posters going up - more than ever! You also need to report this to the police and get a CRIME number (not an incident number) if not already done so. Many dogs back, even stolen ones, but you really need to work hard and it invariably pays off. Re read the email I sent originally, this will give you an idea of what to do. Your best bet now is to make her so famous, everyone knows she has been taken. You need to poster in all the road pit stops i.e. cafes, garages, shops, pubs along the A414 past Chelmsford towards Southend and back towards the big Harlow roundabout. These people have to eat and get petrol. Also, tell the local newspaper, they may do a story as it appears she has been stolen. You have in your favour the fact that she is chipped and spayed. But you must keep postering and spreading the news - she may be let go and could be on the lose again. If not, we need these individuals to come forward with her. Wonder if this is related to Willow SS14, not that far? Come on Poppy, let's get you home! x

Spangles...that was all I was told...verity can you ring the person back who called as he may know more about the type of vehicle...tx

Jayne, can we get a better description of the van so we can circulate in the area, if its that distinctive it may be known locally, or not that far away. Small van, transit, anything would be good and do we know what farm is nearest to where she went missing. Thank you... am circulating on FB
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
Owner has rung to say posters led to a local man calling to say he saw 2 scruffy types in a distinctive emerald green van pick Poppy up shortly after she went missing...on being seen they acted suspiciously...

The same thing happened to our Border Terrier cross Oscar back in January 2011 but unfortunately after all our efforts he has never been found :-( We live in Threshers Bush, High Laver so not far from u. I am spreading the word and asking locals to keep a look out for Poppy. U really need to get posters up, this is so important! Poster all the villages etc as far out as possible, Poppy could have travelled miles by now! I will put some up in the area for you at the weekend if u haven't already done so. Put the posters on telegraph poles and notice boards. If u need anymore help then please let me know. I really hope Poppy is found soon! x

Thank you Verity. Who did I send the email too, yourself? Please make sure owner can see it. Thank you. Right, you need to find all the farmers and remember not all farmers are dog friendly, so you need to make as many your friends as possible so they keep a look out and inform you if they hear about her. Secondly, if there is livestock, you really, really need to approach farmers, but I'm think your way is mostly arable, is that right? Are there any travelling communities around? Any shooting estates? Please let us know. Thank you so much for your help. Posters need to go up all over the area - on telegraph poles in the view of motorists, churches, every single pub, every village. Door drop smaller flyers. Give to your postman, he sees a lot. Shops, school children, school bus, give to the Pet Crem as they can put one up for you and often hear about dogs on the loose, take one to the swimming pool, the library, all areas where people meet. You really CAN find her! Let's do it. x
verity
Also owner says she has received a text so have updated the profile and added mine to. X
verity
Hi I'm not the owner but it's her mobile number on the poster. Poppy went missing Tuesday 26th June, she went out in the garden which is huge, but she can get into the farmers fields. And hasn't returned x
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Texted and emailed owner. This is fairly rural so we need to cover a lot of fields and farms. Also villages. How did she go missing? This will help give us clues. Thanks. Let's get this sweet baby home! x
