That area is fairly close to the river, it could have come up one of the roads such as trews wier reach or salmon pool lane etc, so it may have been being walked by someone and it ran off. It was behaving as though it has probably done this before or has been out for awhile. Topsham road is one of the main routes into the city centre so traffic is fairly heavy/noisy with buses etc and it wasnt spooked or paying attention. I think if it were mine she would be running up and down looking lost not going for a walk down the pavement stopping to peruse rubbish bags! Last edited: 2012-07-19 05:35:53 by Puddies

Thanks again Puddies, you did a brill job of giving as much info as you have in the circumstances. I have sugested Gem's owners contact the dog warden anyway. The photo of Gem was when she was still quite young so it would be difficult to tell.

I've had a look and to be honest its hard to say, I have a border collie myself and would say it probably was a border collie but may have been a cross, I think it was less mearle then Gem, almost looked more like a cocker blue roan colouring with more white if that makes sense. It was of slim build, and I got the impression that its ears were sticking up. Sorry can't be of more help but was stuck in traffic so was watching it from my rear view mirror, I would have pulled over but there was no where to do so. I rang the dog warden as soon as I got to work and left a message with someone as the dog warden was out at lunch. The dog was sticking to pavements, wasn't running or looking bothered/stressed. It was searching through rubbish bins. I have been at work all afternoon, so have not been able to ring dog warden/city council again to see if she managed to find/catch dog.

Thank you Puddies for registering this one, can you take a look at Gem and compare the colour/markings? She will be a young adult now.
