- Hi all, I'm Maisy's owner, I heard the news of Maisy's escape from my holiday in Barbados, you can imagine how I felt, miles away from England and my little girl lost, and nothing I can do to help, we were all devastated. However thanks to Liz and all she managed to co-ordinate on ours and Maisy's behalf and to all of you, so concerned about her welfare and turning up to search, words really can't express our gratitude to u all!! All I can say is that thanks to Liz and Jeanie and my dog loving family ( of which Wispa is part of)I am currently sitting here on the sofa cuddling my poor wounded girl who is comfortable and dreaming a thousand dreams! God bless u all! Xxxx

- Thank you so much for the email, Liz, and San for the text. I am over the moon! You see? She came back to the car park to find you! What a clever girl! She could have been sleeping off her head injury and then found her way back when strong enough. What an amazing girl! Owners, you listened to what we said and you acted upon it, well done. You so deserve to have your fur baby back home. You are great owners. I am so happy and relieved. Well done all the helpers; I knew you were great out there! You have given so much time and support to Maisy and her family. It is support like this that gets people through. Thank you. Well done to Mollie as well! You've got you best friend back. Kisses for them both. xxLast edited: 2012-07-25 19:01:53 by Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders

- I'm delighted to confirm that Maisy was found and recovered from South Weald country park late this morning!
We are all over the moon! This little dog has been through so much but is so lucky to have so many people like all involved.
Thank you so much to everyone who have been giving up their spare and often sleep to be out searching for her.
Liz will be along shortly to fill in the further details - 2012-07-24 23:46 Spangles
- The contact website for the sniffer dog is http://www.invisiblefencebrand.co.uk/ Hope Maisy is home soon, if I can get over to the park tomorrow I will join the search, in the meantime sharing on FB...have you contacted Essex County Council as they have Rangers that cover the park?

- Hi Kimmy, we are still heavy on the search, we postered the route from Maisy's house all the way to the park and did a big ring round the lake tonight, so hard being a 500 acre park, we are all up there tomorrow around middday as a pet search team has been organised to help with the publicity and family will be there for sunrise. Please could you re send the email with the attachments on the route info as the boys are getting on there bikes tomorrow and going to cycle round and check all the verges and ditches. Kazza - thank you so much for caring, would be brilliant if you could print some posters up and put them at the station and anywhere in the surrounding areas, we need all the help we can get putting posters out ! Maisy best friend Mollie in the picture has walked the whole park as well bless her. good idea re the metro will call them first thing, hopefully she will be home by the weekend but if not yes that would be great if you could help, thank you ! Kimmy - Will search now for that dog sniffer company !

- I am so sorry to hear about Maisy and am willing her to come home safe very soon. My brother's black lab went missing for five days and was hit by a lorry. We eventually found him sheltering in a ditch and he made a full recovery. Please try and stay positive. I notice from the photo that there are two black labs. Is the other dog able to pick up scents from Maisy and help with the search? We used my brother's dog's brother to help us. I live about 20 minutes from Billericay. Please let me know if I can print coloured posters for you and how many you would like. Also, are you on the Liverpool Street line? If so, have you approached The Metro (free newspaper) to see if they could print an article or advert for you? It would then cover commuters who live in your area and help spread the word? If I can be of any help, please let me know - if you are organising searches etc. Although I work in London, I could help at weekends but am hoping Maisy will be home safe and sound by then with her family. Have you approached light aircraft owners (I can never remember if they fly from North or South Weald)? They could keep a look out while flying their planes? Keeping everything crossed for you and Maisy and willing Maisy to show herself. xx

- Just had a thought, we have a "dog" sniffer dog that way. Search for "Invisible Fence" (a dog fence company) in Essex and look for the owner of a Bavarian Mountain Hound. Give them a call - they have helped in the past. Apologies to this sweet dog and kind owner as I can't think of their names off hand, but I will look. Sometimes a sniffer dog can really help. x

- What great helpers out there! Thank you! And thanks, Riverlady. Okay, I thought Maisy lived in Brentwood. In that case, Maisy will probably run around for a bit, trying to get her bearings. They can travel a few miles, so she could even go out of the park, however, if she did, she will probably come back in as well. They do usually return to where they were lost. If you read the email attachments I sent, it explains about the route they travel. Once they settle down, they will continue to walk a circuit, round and round, in a triangle. One point of this triangle will be where they were lost. If she doesn't know where she is, she will be looking for something familiar and as they they have great noses, she will follow her own trail back to where her owners were, if she can, and, she can pick up the scenting. The only things stopping her will be 1) if she has been picked up or 2) injured, or 3) stuck. Sometimes they can take days to return, or even just hours, depending how far they travel. It is important to scent this area regularly, but not all over the place, just leading back to a safe place that she may recognise. Leave some food there too and water, early morning or late evening. Wildlife may eat it, but it could also be Maisy. If she was hit, she could have concussion so could be sleeping it off, or could be a bit confused. When checking ditches etc, look for any places that may have been made into a bed or den i.e. flattened straw or a place hidden from view. We need to find her route. Having said that, she could be very close, just hidden. The local newspapers won't always do a story on a missing dog, but, the fact that she could have been hit by a car should be enough for them to help. Please get contact quickly, for this week's edition. From what I understand this is a big park, so the more helpers, the better. Also, as always, please be on the look out for any strange activity or vans in the area and never rule anything out. Does Maisy go by car to this park often? Does she look out the window, could she know the route the car travels? They can also, sometimes, follow the scent of tyres. Poster the route of travel as well. Need to cover all our bases. Also, check for holes in the ground - sometimes there are concrete drains not covered in fields, especially if there is water nearby. They use these for drainage and can lose their lids, so to speak. Are there any water works, sewage places, rivers? Is there a railway anywhere near? We need hundreds of posters! You can never have enough and you never know which poster will be the one to get her home. Come on Maisy, where are you sweetheart? Let's get you back home, quickly. x

- Kimmy - No she wont be able to find her way home from there, brentwood to Billericay I think to far...but you never know ! Horses are not really allowed to close to the park but a great idea ! we are contacting a local stables to see if they can do some kind of route. I have tryed that link wispa and cant seem to access anything but will keep trying thank you. - Hi, just been doing some internet research, I don't have a facebook account but can anyone reach out to this group of people please? It should reach people who ride in South Weald Park: http://www.facebook.com/carina.lewis...parkincidents/
Looks like it was set up for a different reason but hoping we can appeal to any members to help with the search. Thx!

- Well done everyone, keep up the good work. Can you please put the facebook link on here so that I can share. Thank you.

- You are all fab out there! Well done. Could Maisy find her way home from there? Dogs do that sometimes, even if they don't know the area outside of the park. Other times they keep to the routes they know, so she could be walking her triangle around the route you take her. If you arrive by car, she may try to get back to where you park, so leave something for her to lie on there and make sure it smells of home. Do you know any horse riders who could ride through the park checking ditches and undergrowth for you? Go and speak to any stables or riding schools, they usually help. Dogs are very clever at surviving, even if injured, so we just need to keep going until we find her. The posters need to really get in people's faces as someone must know something. I'm posting her on facebook and I'll ask Riverlady to twitter. Come on Maisy, where are you sweet girl? x

- Arrived at 4.30am as dawn was breaking, searched along the verge, the wooded area behind the road up to the church boundary wall then crossed the road and scanned the fields opposite with binoculars then into the woods next to the fields.Checked as much undergrowth as possible. Lovely to meet you both this morning Wispa. xx
- 2012-07-23 23:11 Wispa
- Thank you everyone for your help and advice so far. We searched the fenced field opposite the park across the road but no sign. Also checked near water sources. Will be returning back at dawn
- 2012-07-23 23:01 Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
- Well done all of you! Dusk and dawn are the best times to see a lost dog, and it you can have a BBQ there the smells can bring her out. But, leave something there like I advised and do some scenting. She might be lying low if she is poorly until she has regained her strength. Dogs are amazingly clever at surviving in the wild so do not panic just yet. Cravitz Printing, you are fab! Poster everywhere, especially along the roads in the eyeline of motorists. Let's get this baby home! x
- 2012-07-23 22:51 Liz
- Big Thank you to " Cravitz Printing " in Brentwood, they Printed 100 posters out for us and kindly did not charge, the owner just wanted to see Maisy home safely.
- 2012-07-23 22:31 Liz
- there is about 6 of us at different times walking around the park during the day and handing out flyers, we have posted to local houses, farms, cricket clubs put posters up around the area and Brentwood High Street we have covered tonight.I have changed the breed, she is a full labrador. Thank you for all your help, will be back in the area tomorrow walking around the park and praying she will appear.
- 2012-07-23 22:18 Jo - Area Co-ordinator, Essex
- Yes I agree pollydog, that would be best. Owner is Maisy a full Lab or a Lab cross?
Hope there is news soon, get loads of posters up! - 2012-07-23 21:53 pollydog
- Can I suggest that her breed is changed on her to Labrador? It's very unlikely that a finder would think to search for "gun dog" as thats' not a breed and she's clearly more black lab than anything else. I hope you find her safe and well soon.
- 2012-07-23 18:52 SanBarn
- I'm thinking if she has an injury she will lay up somewhere quiet for a while, she may return to the visitor centre when it's quiet and scavenge around the bins, on the other hand there is plenty of wildlife to eat if she is well enough to chase and catch it.xx
- 2012-07-23 17:45 SanBarn
- Ok, if I don't see any new postings before dawn tomorrow to say Maisy has been found, I'll go to Weald at dawn, could be she's hiding up somewhere over there. Can't get over tonight but is there anyone out there that can look later this evening? xx
- 2012-07-23 16:12 Liz
- checked with the cleansing dept again nothing. also called highways rangers, nothing.
- 2012-07-23 16:03 Liz
- Thank you all, there was a rumour that she was clipped by a car and ran off but no one was sure, have walked the road and verges and could not find her, been trying to get through to the highway agencies. also reported it to the police yesterday as well as dog warden and all local vets, no luck as yet... but will call visitors centre again.
- 2012-07-23 14:57 Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
- Oh no! What they need to do is call the Highways Agency for their area and also the Cleansing dept of the council NOW. If dog is injured should get to a Vet and they will scan for owner. If dog has gone to heaven owners need to make some calls to road people. They rarely ever scan dogs, so owners need to call them ans ask if this is true and if they picked her up? Am texting owner. thank you SkySasha. x
- 2012-07-23 14:04 SkySasha
- Hi, just alerted parents who are walking their dog over there right now. They were talking to the people in the shop who say that a black labrador was found run over. Sorry for being so vague but it's third hand info, dog is injured as far as I know. Maybe worth calling the visitor's shop at South Weald to get more info. Really hope Maisy is ok.
