Oh how sad - yet another traffic victim. I am so very sorry, and my thoughts are with the family at this distressing time, and as for that hit and run driver, how callous and uncaring a person they must be. Run free at the bridge, lovely Ellie xxx

This is so sad, poor Ellie R.I.P. It is horrible to be responsable for someones beloved pet when they go away, this is your worst nightmare. I was lucky that the dog i was looking after was found okay when she escaped from my garden. I really do feel for you, and the owners when they return from their hols. The person that hit her should be ashamed of themselves, they must have know, and to drive off i thought was against the law, i know it used to be years ago because someone hit my dog and left it for dead in the road, the person behind took the car reg and told the police. The police went to see them and they said didn`t stop because they thought it was a cat!!!! Some people just don`t care. Sorry to have gone on but this hit a raw nerve. When will people realise how much pets mean to us.Take care and run free at rainbow bridge poor Ellie.

Oh sweetie, I'm so very sorry you didn't make it home. Rest in peace - your family will come for you when the time is right. To the driver who didn't stop - I hope you never sleep at night. Sleep tight Ellie. xx

Unfortunately Ellie was killed on the A46 on the morning she ran away. The driver who ran her over didn't bother to stop or report it. Police contacted me today. It has taken them a while to realise it was Ellie as her owner had left her old dogs name tag on her which read Oscar. I just hope it was quick. I now have the job of telling the owner when she returns from her holiday. This is a nightmare. Thank you to everyone who has helped look for Ellie. I'm just sorry I couldn't have had better news about her.

Have deleted my post as someone had posted a photo of a found dog that had a look of Ellie but they had put minimum info so I was going to suggest you look however they have now come back to me and the found dog was male. I am sorry. I will keep cross checking.Last edited: 2012-08-08 22:33:45 by reggiemollieros

I thought I'd found her this morning. A lady called me saying that 2 girls had found a Collie & taken her to Chine House vet. I rang them & they said she had been taken to Hathern Garth. I rang them & they said it wasn't Ellie & the dog had been reunited with the owner. My heart sank. I really thought it was going to be Ellie.
Thanks for driving round Helen.
Where could she be. Its been a week now & no sightings since the day she ran away. I'm starting to fear the worst now. Hope this ad in the Mercury brings some news.
B30
Good luck, I hope you get a response from the advert.
Snowdrop
Ellie is in today's Leicester Mercury, I hope that this brings some news xxx
Ellie
Thank you for looking Helen. I am afraid there is no news at all about Ellie. There will be an advert in tomorrows edition of the Leicester Mercury which we hope brings some information about her.
Helen
Any news on Ellie? I did drive around yesterday evening (Monday) just as it was getting dark near where CharlieChin saw her to see if I could see anything but didn't unfortunately.
Really hope that she is at least sighted soon.

Charlie I have spoken to my friend today who's colleagues saw her on the A50 slip road. I was mistaken as I thought she had meant she was heading out towards Coalville but she said today Ellie was heading the other way towards the A6 towards Loughborough. I'm convinced it was her. You probably wouldn't have been able to catch her as it sounds as if she was petrified bless her. Just your sighting of her has given me a little but of hope so thankyou so much.
CharlieChin
Ah Michelle I wish I could have stopped to help the man who was following the dog, but it was on the dual carriage way and couldn't pull over in time. It was on the section of the A6 between the Mountsorrel roundabout and the Quorn/Loughborough one. The dog was heading back towards Leicester. There aren't lots of bushes along there, but it ran into the first one it came to. The man following was wearing a high vis jacket, but it was a plain red van. I hope Ellie shows herself soon.
Michelle
Thanks everyone for looking for Ellie. I have still heard nothing as yet. She went missing at around 9.30am on the 31st so that could have been her out at Loughborough. She would have had time to get there. She isn't that big & she is mostly black on her back. She would have changed direction if it was her. Any more sightings would be great.
Ellie
Snowdrop and I have been out to Castle Hill Country Park this afternoon, we added a few posters though there are already a lot there. We spoke to several dog walkers who were aware of Ellie and one gentleman who walks his dogs there twice daily said he would keep a look out and put phone number in his mobile. We also went to Groby Pool and put a poster on the notice board there.
Thanks for keeping a look out CharlieChinLast edited: 2012-08-04 17:51:56 by Ellie

I don't think it was Jake, sorry. I will keep a look out for Jake and Ellie as I work around the area. I hope they are both found soon
Ellie
Thank you CharlieChin. Ellie did go missing during the morning of the 31st
Wonder if you could look at Jakes page ID 39635 just on the off chance it could have been him looking very dirty please
Ellie was spotted by police on the slip road between the A50 and A46 presumably heading towards Groby. A50 goes to Coalville. Can anyone in any of these areas help the family by searching and postering please?
CharlieChin
What time on 31st did Ellie go missing? I was driving from Leicester to Loughborough on that day along the A6 at around 11 30am. As I was nearing the roundabout for Loughborough a black dog was running along the road against the traffic. A van had stopped on the side of the road and someone was following the dog (to try and catch it I think). In my rear view mirror I saw the dog go off the road into the bushes on the left. I can't say for certain if it was Ellie as it had been raining and the dog looked very wet. The only colour I can be sure of is that it was black. It seemed smaller than Ellie appeared in the pictures but would say it was a cross of some kind. I hope the dog has been found and if it was Ellie I hope she's home soon.

Have shared on my FB page, hope Ellie is home soon.

Ellie ran off out on a walk with a family friend. Several people saw her initially but could not catch her and no sightings since. Her owner is abroad on holiday, hence her tag has their details on and chip company unknown. She does not know the area that well.
She is sending a photo asap. I am forwarding advice sheets and contact numbers. Please stay safe until you are found Ellie
