- I am so very sorry to hear the tragic news about Marley and how irrisponsible the kennels were. I have run a pet care company for 15yrs and board dogs in my own home, I have never had an inccident and treat the dogs and care for the dogs as if they were my own, so we are not all bad.

- I am so very, very sorry to hear that Marley has crossed over the Rainbow Bridge - RIP sweetheart xx
Shame on those responsible for this - 2012-08-19 19:25 BessnMaxsmum
- There are good kennels out there who take the responsibility seriously, but you will always get ones who don't, sadly this was one of the latter. I hope that word gets round about these kennels, and people don't kennel their dogs there anymore, this is horrendous beyond belief. We don't go abroad very often, much preferring to holiday in Scotland where we can take our dogs with us. It is our worst nightmare to leave our dogs in kennels and something bad happens to them. Our deepest sympathy to the owners.

- I totally agree, mathers22. Having been dog owners for 50 years, we have also never used kennels for any of our dogs. Also, we have always holidayed in the UK so that our dogs could also enjoy "their holidays"! What a tragic ending for dear Harvey - yet another railway victim - whose death could and should have been avoided. My thoughts are with the family at this devastating time. Run free at the bridge, beautiful Harvey xxxx

- I consider myself very fortunate that my dogs never have to go in kennels. I have a lovely daughter who takes a week off work and comes and stays at the house and looks after them. I can honestly say that after reading all dogs that go missing when in kennels it's made me more sure that they never will. I know I am lucky and not everybody is fortunate enough to be in this situation but I do think kennels need to take more care when they are in charge of peoples "loved" pets. They certainly charge enough for this service!! xxLast edited: 2012-08-19 10:44:01 by mathers22

- Oh how very sad, the owners must be distraught. What is wrong with these kennels to allow dogs to escape? my son at the age of five knew he had to close every door so as not to let my dogs escape. A while back a chihuahua kenneled near to us escaped through the bars of it's kennel and was killed on the nearby road....it is so sad that dogs can't be left in kennels in complete safety without these things happening.

- In tears here reading this. What a dreadfully tragic situation, and one which could probably be so easily avoided. Poor poor Marley, I feel so sad for his family having to cope with this.

- This is terribly, terribly tragic. Not only has this baby been killed on a railway line, but it was in care of others went it happened. How do you cope with something double tragic? I feel so very sad for poor Marley and his owners. Marley is now safe in heaven, but poor owners are left to cope with this. I this railway unfenced too? A|Nd why don't they have double gates, as has been said, in the kennels? I imagine the kennel maid will be going through some trauma now as well, but poor, poor Marley and family. Dreadful situation all round. Owners if you read this, please know Marley would have gone to heaven quickly - straight into God's arms. He will be watching over you until you can all be reunited again, this time never, ever to part! You have to get through this for him. I pray in time, your hearts can know peace. With love. xxx

- OMG this is so very sad, poor Marley and his poor owners/family. This should never have happened. The Kennels should have much more than one gate when they are so close to a river, two busy roads and the railway lines and you would think the staff would be extra security conscious. Shocking!
RIP Marley, sweet little boy xxxLast edited: 2012-08-17 22:53:42 by BBKM - 2012-08-17 21:13 Angel
- I am so deeply sorry for your lose. Surely there had to be more than one gate between Marley and 'freedom'? X

- Oh dear! sorry, but you would hope a kennel worker would know better. This kennels is also used as a holding kennels by Arun dog wardens. It is right next to the railway line and the river is across the road.Ford Lane is a rat run with 2 very busy roads either end. However, there are lots of fields around. Hopefully Ford Prison and the Industrial Est have been notified as they own a lot of the land around as does farmer John Baird. I will phone his farm shop now. I so hope this sweet boy is found soon xxx
