- iknow, weve been waiting 24 hours for a ring back now its forever when you dont know if it is or isnt your dog, im being to fear the worst now, but you would have thought they would have lt us know, but its just a dog to them but to me hes my baby shiv, i just need to know one way or another now
- 2012-09-05 21:57 skippy
- hi libbielou - sorry the highways agency has been a pain - good that the police were able to confirm there had been an incident - I really do feel for you - I know how upsetting it is to have these conversations with them - even harder when you have to repeat the questions because they appear to be obstructive.
Thinking of you and hoping this isn't him!x - 2012-09-05 18:49 Maggie
- Hi ibbielou,
I'm sorry that the Highways seemed bit stroppy with you, not nice when all you want to know is if its shiver or not. I hope they let you know one way or the other, then you will know what you have to do next.
If you still haven't heard back from them tomorrow let me know and i will ring them for you to see if i can get an answer.
I'm more than happy to help you in anyway i can - 2012-09-05 17:52 libbielou
- hi again, well we have been onto the police and finally a officer said they have a report of dog ran over that day, they gave us a ref number and we rang the highway agency again, they got really stroppy and said we just have to wait for a phone call to see if it was shiver, we have been waiting since last night, you would have thought if it was shiver they would have contacted us by now, the dog in the road had its collar on and if it was shiver its got the name and address on and hes chipped, i hate the highway agency
- 2012-09-05 15:12 libbielou
- hi, well ive been onto the highways agency and got nowhere, we went to see the cleansing department and they have no record of picking up any animal from that motorway, the guy said if it would have happened then it would have been recorded and they have on board scanners to locate the owners if the animal is chipped. This is a mystery as two people are adamant there was a dog dead on the motorway. so where has this dog gone
- 2012-09-04 23:22 skippy
- Hi libbielou - sorry it sounds like you have another disappointment. I too hope that the hope sighting brings better news.x You are doing so well and working so hard to try and find your lad!
I do hope the dog on the motorway wasn't him - bearing in mind the number of other tan dogs we have seen in Salford in the last few days, it is just as likely not to have been him, but it is right that you follow up all leads as you are doing.
As Anniesparky says - normally the cleansing department of local council is responsible for removing animals from roads - I'm not sure if it's different on the motorways though. You might find that the Highways Agency 'traffic officers' remove to a 'pick up point' for the local councils to collect from due to the hazards of people working on motorways. Police 101 should be able to point you in the right direction (in theory any accident involving a dog is reportable to the police though as you'll appreciate this doesn't always happen)...if not try the highways agency traffic officers... just keep persisting...sometimes it can be quite hard to talk to the right people. If there was a dog on the road, someone will know who was responsible for removing it.
Do hope you have some good news soon.x
- 2012-09-04 22:27 libbielou
- thank you i will ring them, you have all been so good, just hope the sighting in M6 brings good news x
- 2012-09-04 22:24 AnnieSparky
- Must have been posting at the same time libbielou.....sorry to hear about the messages. Really difficult but am sure its always the council who are responsible (th "cleansing dept"), unless the Highway police would know anything. You can use the police 101 number for enquiries such as this.
Hope the sighting brings good news xx - 2012-09-04 22:18 AnnieSparky
- Just logging on to post that one :) .....really hope its Shiver. Fingers crossed xx
- 2012-09-04 22:17 libbielou
- i know me neither, I dont think the dog in your message is him, the a/w said they think this dog is deaf and blind, but hopefully the sighting in the M6 area may be him. We have also had two messages to say that a dog of shivers colour was seen dead in the motorway not far from my house the day he went missing My husband went to the council where they take dogs that are found dead and shiver wasnt there, the guy said no dog had been brought in of his description and if he was chipped and/or collared they would have been in touch. The rspca said the council were responsible for removal and the council havent had a dog like these people saw, do you have any idea of where else we could look to find out where this dog was taken. Even if it wasnt shiver this dog cant be located thank you
- 2012-09-04 22:00 skippy
- Really hope this time it's him libbielou....I can't believe just how many tan crossbreeds there see to be around Salford at the moment.......
- 2012-09-04 21:47 libbielou

- Unfortunately not Shiver at Leigh dogs Home :(
Owners txted me to say they had been down to look in person.
They are trying very hard to find Shiver and appreciate any help possible x - 2012-09-01 13:23 skippy
- Well spotted AnnieSparky - dog is male I think - same dog is on 'Dogs in Salford' facebook page, but chipped as 'Tyson' to an address in Wythenshawe, but Salford Dog wardens had been unable to get in touch with owners.
The two dogs do look very similar, so if Tyson has had a name change I hope his owners have prove of ownership. - 2012-09-01 10:38 Jayne - Founder Doglost.
- Tx...fingers crossed,
