Thrilled to hear the news that Finn is safely home. Sounds like he has had quite an adventure as the finder took him with his own dogs overnight as he was attending a wedding!
Well done to the golfer for taking care of him and his owner Jon who worked so hard to get him home.
Welcome home Finn and stay safe forevermore.

Can't wait to see him in the blue, fingers crossed it is Finn. I bet its a long night for Jon his Dad and the rest of Finn's family x
Ellie
Finns owner has been in touch with me and is 95% certain it is him. I have asked him to confirm when he collects him so that I can move to reunited.
Jon
Finn's dad here, Done a poster and info drop today to all local farms and landowners within a 10 mile radius, then started on the local pubs, first pub at Thornton village advised us that a customer who was playing Golf at a bLocal Golf club spotted Finn at the 2nd hole, he took him home with him and at the minute is with the gents other springers, I have spoken to the gent on the phone and the description matches Finns exactly, can't pick him up until tomorrow because the Gent is at a wedding until late, so I have arranged a meeting at the Gents house in Desford Village for tomorrow. Will update tomorrow.
Many thanks: Finns Dad.

I hope so Mel. Ellie will confirm with the owner asap
Mel
there's a report on It's a Spring Thing that Finn has been found, although not yet reunited, at a golf club and was taken home by the golfer for safe keeping until he could be collected.

Spoke to Finn's dad at 9 and they're postering.
LAST TIME HE ONLY WENT FOR 3 HRS, WAS FOUND 7 miles away BY A LADY WHO WANTED TO KEEP HIM. So family think he may have been picked up this time.
He has lost his collar last time.
He runs fast and owners have been back to lost place.
Springers work in thick undergrowth but can get hooked up on collars or dog jackets. Last time he bolted after a rabbit.
The woods there are vast with many different named woods interconnected as they are part of the National Forest, and only abt a mile from M1, so have alerted Leicester Forest East services.
Spring Thingers out of the area have been asked to e mail Dog Lost posters to as many orgs that are out n about in the area and we have, so far, done orienteerers, parish council in village, garden services in the hope that local helpers will be able to do lamp posts, notice boards etc.
Finn lives with experienced springer spaniel owners but has only been there 6 weeks as he is a rescue and has already had one adventure; he is nervous of noises.
Springers have the ability to catch prey, scavenge bins for food and steal food, just on a daily basis anyway.
Finn may use up nervous energy running and travels to the place lost by car usually.
BBKM
Hoping Finn is found safe very soon. How long was he missing the last time when he covered 7 miles? was it a few hours or days?
Ellie
Fluffylegs I can assure you that you are not interfering, you are just like the rest of us and want to get this boy home
Thank you for your help and suggestions and I would be grateful if you contact Spring Thing in case anyone on there has local knowledge or breed specific details which may help tracing Finn. Last edited: 2012-09-08 09:57:10 by Ellie

Also I have reported to Highays Agency due to proximity to M1

Hi sorry to appear to be interferring, but we were notified on spring thing about Finn missing and when Jess went missing last year we were able to round up lots of Spring Thingers helpers who proved invaluable in e mailing, postering and spreading the word.
Ellie, I'll leave it to you. Good Luck!!!Finn.
Ellie
Thanks everyone.
Yes I believe when Finn went missing before he was found 7 miles away, so does appear to cover the ground and is willing to approach people at the moment. I am sure his owner will update us on anything he may feel is useful in the search
I have contacted College Garth Kennels, Leicester Animal Aid and the Woodland Trust at Burroughs Wood.
Hope we have a sighting soon.

This is the second time Finn has gone, last time was in woods and he lost his collar somehow. This cld be because he got it caught on something. A lady found him and his 'dad' went to collect him, so he is a dog that, at this stage, wld be likely to go to someone. Last time he went after a rabbit.
SO, the possibility of Finn getting caught on something needs to be considered and so collar colour would help.
Finn's family:it wld help if you cld post what you have learned so far abt Finn's habitsie does he run fast or will he take time to stop and sniff, have a wee, thereby leaving a scent.
Finn will need to sleep and he will be up early; he will need to eat, when is he normally fed?
Are there cafe's or foodie places near where he scarpered...just poster poster poster and please cld you give some idea of lcality as we can be e mailing places and faxing from 8 sat morning.
Good Luck please be founf Finn

Spoken to owner. Finn was just getting back into the car after his walk when youths on motorcycles frightened him and he panicked and ran. He has only been in his new home for 6 weeks so doesn't know the area very well. He is described as a very friendly boy. Have given general advice and am emailing info sheet and contact numbers. Stay safe until you are found Finn
