- Heard from Bella's family. Her little leg was not a hock problem, as previously diagnosed. She had in fact been run over and her pelvis was broken in four different places! Owners got second opinion from a new vet and now poor Bella cannot be fixed as her bones have healed like this. To break them again to re-fix would be too much for her. She will need to be on medication for the rest of her life. I am so glad she has such caring owners who took this further and went elsewhere. This only goes to show how amazing our dogs really are. This poor sweetheart had suffered four breaks and still managed to get home and try and run around the garden. No wonder she wobbled. Bless her little heart. So, if ever in doubt, seek a second opinion. Bella is very lucky to be alive and it's amazing that she is. What a brave little girl! Please send healing and love to Bella. Thank you.

- Update on Bella, from owners. She is on medication but also has a problem with her leg. This may heal in time but of not she will need a split or plate inserted. But she has loving owners, so either way she will be just fine. Her bark is back and she's trying to run round the garden, albeit a bit wobbly, but is on the mend. Big kiss for little Bella and hugs to all of you, fur ones and human ones! Thank you owners for updating us. x

- Carrie, if you haven't done already poster the local schools, she may not be in the area but children travel from all over to go to school, also get hold of the postie and milkman for the area you live and where the lady is, dawn and dusk are likely times she will surface so good to have posties and milkman on board, also ask local taxi's to put poster on back of headrests this way anyone getting in a cab will see her, need to make her very very famous so that anyone seeing her will call, she is quite petite, if someone just glimpses her out the corner of their eye they may not realise its a dog, they may think from a distance they saw a cat so you need to poster like crazy, you mentioned a golf course, if you can get some smaller leaflets printed, see if they will let you leave them on the bar in the club, again, people come from all around so news she is missing will spread further, someone may remember seeing her on route from one place to another. Keep going, you wil get the call, you are 100% focused on getting her back because you know she is missing, we now need to make everyone else around your area know that she is missing so they start looking for her too. xxxx

- No news:( been out postering and sitting down by the ladies house. Even came back at 1 in the morning when I'd finished work. Seem to be dreaming about looking for bella now.. As well as thinking about it all the time. Wish someone would see her soon and call me..xxxx

- Carrie, keep replacing them. This is great news so far. Do as you have been advised. You could even take it in turns to sit and watch, but stay back a bit, out of sight. If you see her, do NOT go running over as she could easily be spooked off again. She will not necessarily recognise your voice immediately, but do not worry. She will have gone into survival mode so call her very quietly and watch her reaction, give her a few minutes to process and call again. If you think she has recognised your voice and will not run, come out very slowly still calling and keep close to the ground so you will not be perceived as a threat. Let her come to you. Patience and quiet. Give her time to realise who you are. When they need to go wild to survive, they need time to gather their thoughts and remember for a moment. Like when you come back from a holiday, everything seems a bit weird at first. Only Bella is fighting for survival in her mind, so its a bit harder. And dogs do survive extremely well. Keep going with the food at the lady's. Great stuff! x

- Another sighting back at the lady's house! SanBarn, Hayley and I are on the case. Carrie, you need to keep her by this lady's. Keep the food there, hot smelly food and blanket and scent. What times has she been seen? Thanks. x

- I've had a good chat with Carrie and her mum, they are doing all the right things, postering and scenting. The lady that gave her the milk will keep Bellas' blanket on the porch and a regular supply of food and drink will be left for her. I've explained the triangle and how to plot it. The problem is not the farmer, it's the gamekeeper, he's concerned that people walking through the fields will upset the birds as the shooting is due to start soon! Carrie, if you need to call me my number is 07742664504. xx
- 2012-09-12 13:28 Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
- What do we know the farmer? What does he farm? He should have a right of way through his fields, that is legal. If you stick to the path, whihc is what Bella would do, you are within the law. Does anyone knowabout the farms in this area - landowners etc? All there any friendly ones? Thanks. I have been having trouble trying to access this site from home, I am accessing at work, but have been in communication with owner. If anyone knows the land around here, please can we have your input.x
- 2012-09-12 00:04 Spangles
- Carrie scent all around the ladies door, drive etc, like San said, the lady showed her no threat so she will feel safe to return there, she may only be a short distance away and may have to follow her track back there so scent towards the ladies house to help her, if she does appear, ask the lady to leave the door open to see if she will go in ask the lady not to try and grab her but to try and coax with something smelly, cheese is always a good one...hope shes back with you soon xxx
- 2012-09-11 23:35 Julie - Area Co-ordinator - Surrey & South London
- That was very mean of the farmer to say that to you miserable devil. So hoping Bella returns to where she was seen and her blanket. All good wishes to you. Julie x
- 2012-09-11 22:37 SanBarn
- There's a good chance she will go back to this lady as she was given milk, it may take another day or so if she's on the move. If this lady also has her blanket then Bella may stay put. xx
- 2012-09-11 21:25 Carrie89
- Been out all day today postering and walking miles into fields! Even walked through a field of overgrown weeds covered in stinging nettles! Still no sign, also farmer told me he doesn't wanna see me in there again and I should consider the field searched! Bella didn't go back to the woman's last night :( and I have left a scented blanket where she was last seen! Hoping someone will see her soon as its been 3 days again now! Please come home bella!!!! X
- 2012-09-10 23:37 Carrie89
- The area she was sighted is in the middle of nowhere with few large houses with big gates and loads of huge fields :/ postered as much as I could but it's back rds.and a golf course opposite also theres loads of lakes and ponds around! Just praying she doesn't go near them! Called the field owners and he said he will keep an eye out and will check all the snares just incase!! Also went to the farm and gave a poster to them! She could be heading in all dif directions coz it was Saturday night she was sighted!!! The picture the lady got of her was so cute she was curled up in a ball just wish she'd made more attempts to take her in :( x
- 2012-09-10 20:43 Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
- Right, Carrie this means she was not stolen, so that is a relief. Although we do need to keep her safe out there. You have obviously done well with the posters as you got a sighting! Now, that lady's house needs to be kept as a safe place and a place where food and water is. So, I suggest you speak to the lady and ask if she, or you, can put a bit of food down every day, early morning and evening. Once Bella knows there is a good supply she will keep going back. She knows it's there as she had milk, so that is good. I also want you to scent around that lady's house, daily if possible. Try scenting from there back to home, if it is safe. If there are busy roads then just scent at this lady's to keep her there. Scent from the direction she ran in as well, as they do usually return and she will then pick up the scent. Poster like mad in this area, speak to any farmers and get them on board; if dog walkers go that way you need to get word out. I've put the sighting on the poster, so you can print these new ones for those fields/that area. You are so close, don't panic yet, you have a sighting! Brilliant! Remember the triangle - mark this lady's house and your own on a map, and read the info about this. You may be able to work out where she's headed. In fact, I think a little dog might just stay in this area. I hope she doesn't prove me wrong, but they have been known to travel miles, even little ones, but I would start with the food at the lady's, and poster like mad. You CAN do this! Remember to keep checking in with the council's road people so they know she's out there, and tell the dog warden, who might be able to assist you. You are doing fab! Come on Bella, you are so close now. x

- Carrie, how could she get out of your garden? If she couldn't, then you get police round to look and you tell them there is a spate of stolen chihuahuas in Essex. Do you really think she got out herself? Most dogs do not stray far from home and the only reason they don't get back is if something has happened. If you have checked the list of things I told you to do, then it is possible she has been stolen. Go with your instincts. I am so hoping this is not the case and you must still poster, a few hundred if you can. Speak to neighbours, find out if any vans in the neighbourhood that afternoon. Any battered vans, painted coloured vans? Any strange silver cars that are not regular? Well done for the scenting! Was the gate open when she was in the garden if not that answers your question. Dogs usually stick together, so where was your other dog? All these things need thought. You are doing well. Circulating this baby on Facebook and asking Riverlady to twitter. Absolutely well done for the ad. x

- The police are saying i have no proof to ay Bella was taken. i have just printed sme more posters to put up tomorrow and will be getting some leaflts done to post threw doors.
Bella ismy first dog and i bought a second dog to keep her company sheis now not sleeping, eating and barely moving off the sofa. Its so sad to see.
You seriously dont realise how much you love your pets.
I have been ringng vets all round and the only one that had information about a chihuahua around the same time that bella went missing was in southend and unfortunately the dog washit by a car and isdeceased :( i will be callin the southend dog warden tomorrow to find out more details as it was the weekend and they couldnt tell me the dogs sex or what exact colour dog was.
Fingers crossed it isnt Bella.

- Carrie, you now have the Doglost Team on hand so lots of volunteers will be reading the alerts and news will spread quickly. Bella is already being shared on FaceBook so she will become well known. Poster as much as you can, if she has been stolen then someone will hopefully respond when they see the word REWARD, poster around schools, shops, bus stops, post offices, pubs anywhere really public, I don't know the area but do any properties around you, shops or residential have CCTV, have a look, more houses are installing it now, so ask around, also if you have any Travellers sites near you poster around them, don't enter but poster as near to them as you can. Also contact your neighbourhood police team and like Kimmy says, get a crime number. Also cover all avenues, drop a poster through every house in the surrounding roads, if someone found her they should have contacted the Dog Warden but it is not always the case, some people think they are being kind by caring for the dog whilst waiting for a way to contact the owner so just in case she has wandered off from the garden poster near by. Also contact all local rescues daily, and vets. Lots to take on board but listen to the guidance you get from the co-ordinators and helpers, they are fab and will do everything to help you get your baby home x
