Thanks for all the help. Bailey was actually picked up by someone locally not long after he went missing but just took a while to get sorted! he was safe and sound and none the worse for his little adventure.

Owners friend has contqacted the dog warden vets and his chip company. He is wearing a colllar and disc, and as he is scared he will probably be hiding somewhere, There is no photo available atm, so Im going to find a picture of a similar dog. He looks like a small black terrier, not like a border type.
