Hi Jane,

Yesterday a female black labrador attached herself to myself and my friend whilst walking our 4 dogs in Broxborne Woods in Hertfordshire. She looked very unkempt and her stomach appeared swollen. She is greying around the muzzle so we put her age down to be about 9 or 10. After going through the usual motions to see if she was lost we took her home as she lept in our car before our own dogs and appeared desperate.. We washed, watered and fed her and then took to a kennels in Wormley in Hertfordshire which the local dog warden recommends.

There we discovered she had a microchip and her name was Sophie and she was registered in the Harrogate area. An answer phone message was left as the owners weren't in. I can't find any dog matching this description on your
database so I thought I would e mail you in case you knew of anybody missing her.

Although her coat was matted and balding she has obviously been loved by someone as she obeyed commands and is very biddable. If her owner is not found my husband and I are considering re homing her with us.

Thank you for taking the time to list this found dog and ensuring the safety of the dog.
Please ensure that you notify your local Dog Warden and the local Police Station - in Scotland you MUST inform your local Police Station and if possible contact the Dog Warden also.
The found dog may have a Microchip or a Tattoo - please have the dog scanned and checked for a tattoo at a vet's so that owners may be contacted as soon as possible.
