Thank you CJ. I have made it into a poster/ photo and will use it as profile picture to spread the word. I made a couple of very slight changes, my changes are in ( )for you to see
1. if your missing dog has a microchip on the (Main) Doglost site.
2. Once it is on the doglost site is is then updated now reads. Once it is on the doglost site (it is) then updated

Good points added and yes it is law that a dog ( unless exempt) must wear an ID tag with owners contact details on it. It is not necessary to have the dogs name on the tag .

Also its worth remembering to make sure microchip details are kept up to date especially if change mobile or move!!

It is so important chip number is registered in the details, for when dogs are scanned.

The dog I walk belongs to a person in their nineties (Rescue dog), and the lady had her microchipped, and wears a tag with all the details, address, phone number, and name. Very important post is this. Thanks for putting it on:-)

thanks for doing this - microchips are a great invention BUT they are invisible AND so many do not have correct details. I wish everyone would as well as chip have a visible dog tag with up to date contact details. I thought by law owners were supposed to. with a visible id tag finder can act immediately - without a tag finder has to try and contact dog warden, then wait and wait, or go to vets to get dog scanned snd they WONT give you details and keep dog for dog warden to collect. visible tag means instant, or nearly, happy ending without the cost and inconvenience of going to council kennels.

REMINDER. Many dogs on this site have microchips but details are not yet given. Please update the details if your missing dog has a microchip on the Doglost site.
The number cannot be seen by public only yourself and those with admin access.

Once it is on the doglost site is is then updated to the halo scanner being used by many police forces dog wardens and rescue.

DO NOT DELAY UPDATE THE CHIP NUMBER TODAY!

Excellent this is what they need and as CJ says they really dont have time to hang around these places and ring the microchip databases....they need to know instantly ..and then will retract instantly taking the dog/dogs with them....what we all here at Doglost have been working towards for years...and WOW if Sherlock approves...it must be good....

Today we had Kent police using the scanner for a lot of dogs in one place they were ''visiting''

Whilst many on site are chipped owners have still not put in the chip number.

IT IS SO IMPORTANT THAT THIS IS DONE AS IT LINKS DIRECT OUR SITE TO THE SCANNER.

IT GIVES A MESSAGE REPORTED AS MISSING ON DOGLOST.
OK IT WILL STILL SCAN THE DOGS BUT IF IT COMES UP AS MISSING THEY CAN SEIZE THE DOG STRAIGHT AWAY. THEY DO NOT HAVE TO WAIT TO PHONE FOR DETAILS WHICH IS NOT ALWAYS POSSIBLE UNDER SOME CIRCUMSTANCES.

SO OWNERS PLEASE LOG IN ADD YOUR CHIP NUMBER. IT WILL NOT BE SEEN TO EVERYONE. ONLY YOURSELF AND SOME ADMIN DOGLOST STAFF.

IF YOU CANNOT DO THIS YOURSELF SEND AN EMAIL WITH DOGS NAME POSTCODE OR ID NUMBER IF KNOWN. HEAD THE EMAIL MICROCHIP DETAILS AND SEND IT AND WE WILL GET IT DONE.

FOR THESE SCANNERS TO WORK THE BEST WAY WE MUST HAVE THE CHIP NUMBER PUT ON.

Sorry to see that TESTER DOG SAYS ADD MICROCHIP DETAILS is missing.

• If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and check that all details are up to date.
• Owners targeted by a malicious hoaxer demanding money for the return of their dog should phone the police on 101 immediately and contact admin@doglost.co.uk
• A photograph of your dog is essential for the website. If you have not already uploaded one, please do so by clicking on Update details. Alternatively you can email it to admin@doglost.co.uk quoting the dog's DogLost ID number: (43247)
• Obtain a missing poster by clicking on View poster above. Posters are very important so start postering now!
• You will need to be logged in to upload photos, edit your dog's details, or add comments. You can add comments by clicking on Click here to add a comment.
• Contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres, and in Scotland, the Police. Give a detailed description with any distinguishing marks/scars or send them a copy of your DogLost poster. You can find vets in your area here.
• If your dog has been stolen inform the police immediately and obtain a crime reference number (CRN). Send an email to stolen@doglost.co.uk.
• If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be legally re-homed after seven days. Visit rescue centres in person and do not rely on checking by phone alone. Other people may not recognise your dog by your description, so give them a DogLost poster.
• Keep us updated by keeping your dog's page up to date and check for posts from helpers who may have suggestions and possible matches or sightings
