- If the farmer has not notified the authorities of his actions within 48 hours of the shooting, he has broken the law!
I am so very sorry for your loss xx - 2012-10-06 21:32 whiskas
- Unfortunately I think the farming land around this area has changed hands in recent years and the farmer is not kind to dog walkers. My little dog once chased the tractor and he stopped until I got her safe and has seen us blackberrying etc. Recently the hedgerows and field edges have been ploughed so we can't walk easily :( So sorry for your loss

- Natalia I'm so very sorry at what has happened. We all know that farmers can shoot if dogs are worrying livestock but to have the common decency to contact owners and let them know what has happened and have a bit of compassion should be the least they can do when they have just taken someone's beloved pet XX

- This makes my blood boil - we were walking our dogs off lead in a field that had been harvested, no where near live stock and the farmer drove across the field to us swearing, saying he would shoot our dogs if we didn't put them on the lead. Alot of farmers do not think twice about killing a dog and causing such heartache to the family. I hope you find some comfort that Teddy will have gone to heaven knowing he was loved and will now be watching over you. Be strong xxx

- Me & my daughter had a look around Holymoorside, Somersall last night only to come back and read of the tragic outcome. We are so very sorry, he didn't deserve that. God bless Teddy x

- Thankyou all so much for your kind words and assistance. We are genuinely touched, truly. We are also extremely grateful to the wonderful Chrissie and Lip for coming out to help, and also to Debbie for her advice.
However, we must point out that the farmer who killed Teddy did not contact us. My mother spread the word of Teddy's disappearance,, and received a phone call from a lady who had heard there had been a shooting at a farm. My mum then took it upon herself to get hold of the farmer, who was very rude, cold, and heartless. He could not care less that he had murdered our innocent little boy.
In addition to being utterly heartbroken, we are furious. The manner of Teddy's untimely passing, him being taken from us so cruelly, makes our loss even harder to bear.
Once again, our sincere thanks to all of you. There are some truly horrible people in the world, and because of that we no longer have our precious baby, but there are also many absolutely wonderful people like each and every one of you.
Thankyou to you all. xxx

- So sorry. My sympathy goes to Teddy`s family. Of course we dont know the full circumstances, and at least the farmer had the decency to contact the family, however I realize that this doesn`t make it any easier for them. Night, night sweet one, sleep tight, and play in the lovely sunshine with all the other "Rainbow Babies" One day you will be reunited with your owners, when the time is right, and cross the bridge together. Sent to your family are loads of ((((((((HUGS)))))))) for their very tragic loss. RIP Teddy+ Run free, and God Blessx

- I would like to point out that the farmer contacted the family directly when the posters went up, unlike some who shoot and don't report even to the police. I am sure that if the other dog was shot this farmer would have said so and reported it. I won't comment further on the incident as I wasn't there and don't know the full circumstances. My sympathy goes out to the family.

- Teddy had escaped from the garden and gone into fields. He was apparently with another dog in a field with sheep, and was shot by the farmer. We don't know anything about the other dog. Family are heartbroken.

- Owner needs to contact DW, vets, poster asap. Speak to local farmers and dog walkers. Put an ad on the radio and in the paper. Visit the dog pound and check sites on the internet. Scenting could be an option. Post flyers through local letter boxes. Speak to the postman.
