- Oh my word! The cat's owners' pond? How dreadful for the pair of you. Sadly instincts can't be changed, it's just the way it is, but those difficult fur babies, those that give us a hard time tend to form an even closer bond - that's love! :-) And that love will be yours and Mistie's forever. You never gave up and you did find her. Now she is with your other dog and the cat, safe and sound. That tragedy was only one moment in time. All the rest of her life is what counts and you are so right, you will always be together - forever. xxx

- How tragic. Really heartbreaking news that you have lost Mistie. There is some consolation that you can lay her to restm and that you will be reunited with her at the bridge, when the time is right. I expect that Mistie and the cat are now the best of friends, and playing in the warm sunshine adorned with their wings. Let`s not forgot that someone has also lost their furry friend, their cat. Night, night both, sleep tight. RIP++ God Blessx Sending owners of these "Rainbow babies" loads of (((((((HUGS))))))) Enemies in life, now friends forever.

- Thank you all so much for your comments, she will be able to chase all she wants now. The pond had vertical walls so neither could get out and the owner had been on holiday. Sorry for them to come back to them. But she will be with me always along with my previous dog. She has taught me so much. She was a very difficult dog when I got her I persevered and she was well trained apart from when she got that instinct to chase, I persevered to find her and she came back to me, always in my heart.

- Oh my goodness! How absolutely awful. Poor, poor Mistie and the cat and their poor owners. What a dreadful thing to happen. Although this sounds such an awful way to go to heaven, I am sure it is very quick. This has really upset me and my heart goes out to Mistie's owner. Please know that some animals are so special, that God takes them quickly so they do not suffer, albeit too soon for us, but they have already earnt their wings. I believe Mistie is very special. You have found her and she can rest peacefully now whilst she watches over you from above. She has a new cat friend now too. Mistie will be with you always and one day you will cuddle her once more; this time you will never ever part again. In time, may your hearts know peace. xxx

- Oh no..how sad..and so close to coming home. I'm so sorry XX
- 2012-10-15 13:29 Owl
- We are all heartbroken, Mistie and a cat have both lost their lives in a garden pond. The pond was netted over but we assume Mistie chased the cat down a steep slope into the pond and they both went in through the netting.
- 2012-10-15 10:05 Owl
- Sighted by a walker at 6.15 last night on fields at Brookfield near where she first went missing.
- 2012-10-12 23:08 xWendyx
- So sorry Mistie is still missing. I'm out with my dogs every day searching for her, desperately hoping to spot her.
- 2012-10-12 15:04 Mistie123
- Phoned DW and Vets around the area, still no sign of her, please come home soon lovely x
- 2012-10-10 16:03 carrot
- I have walked around Linacre today looking for Sally and Mistie, sorry I had no luck. Hope she is home soon
- 2012-10-09 21:25 Barneysmum
- Sorry to hear no news yet, praying for her safe return. Is there a possibility she could have been stolen? I think it is a good idea to alert Brookfield School as she could still be in or around the the area near the school
- 2012-10-09 13:22 xWendyx
- Sorry you had no luck last night.
I've been round Somersall again this morning and also seen the poster at Spire vets. Have you approached Morrisons about putting a poster up there?
Also, have you thought about asking Brookfield School to let their students know about Mistie? I know each class has a student bulletin read out each morning - 2012-10-09 12:34 chrissie
- does anyone on here know anything about ..farmwatch..i would like to set up our own team of " special dogwardens around the uk where we can hopefully thro farmwatch leave all farmers with nos to call if a dog goes on his land ..maybe the farmers could call the wardens before shooting and give us a chance to to get there and save a dogs life !!
- 2012-10-09 12:26 chrissie
- no luck i.m afraid with last night camp cooking ..lip myself and misties owner are out again tonight ..we are going to cook in 2 areas tonight ...on the same field as last night and also in or around linacre woods as the breeze is blowing from that area and we think the smell will drift further into the area we require!! thank you lip for last nights " river walking " under tunnels under the road looking for signs of her ...you were brill!!
- 2012-10-08 18:36 Barneysmum
- Owl, thanks I'm so pleased to hear that. Lets hope the tasty camp food will coax her back
- 2012-10-08 18:13 Owl
- Chrissie and Lip, local helpers from Team Bones, are frying up something tasty on a camping stove shortly, close to the fields where she went missing and the footpath along the stream where Wispa found the scent.
- 2012-10-08 18:10 Owl
- Barneysmum, the farmer in question does know about Mistie, and he will only shoot if the dog is actively worrying sheep. Mistie takes no notice of sheep and she goes in his field he will call owner.
- 2012-10-08 17:35 Barneysmum
- Walked Barney Walton Back Lane down to Somersall Lane, sadly nothing to report. If she is timid she might be laying low until it gets darker. Met a couple walking their dog who had seen the posters, but no sighting. Will look again later tonight when we go for evening walk. Come on beautiful girl show yourself x
- 2012-10-08 17:27 xWendyx
- I've been round Somersall Park again and into the fields at the back of Walton Dam - lots of undergrowth to hide in, plus the bowling and cricket huts which she can get under, nothing there. I walked back along the waters edge and back up through the park and looked in the woods leading back up to Walton.
Have you postered the vets? I've got to call at Spire Vets tomorrow so can take a poster there if they haven't got one already - 2012-10-08 16:57 Mistie123
- Just been round Somersall, nothing seen. Leafleted about 50 more houses around the area
- 2012-10-08 14:56 Barneysmum
- Mistie looks the double of our Dog Barney. We live in the Walton area and will take a walk out later with Barney to have a look round. I hate to say, but there was a brown Lab called Teddy went missing the other week and sadly a local farmer shot it as it was in his field with sheep. Please try and contact all farmers in the area and let them know you are looking for her, I wouldn't want Mistie to wander in to his field. Praying for her safe return x
- 2012-10-08 14:01 Mistie123
- Just been at the back of Somersall Hall, found some outbuildings and will go back later to see if she is sleeping there as Owl took us there the other day.
- 2012-10-08 13:12 xWendyx
- No sign at Somersall or Walton this morning. Will go out again later and look for them both
- 2012-10-08 12:11 Mistie123
- Both Misite and Sally are on the St Bernards website as missing dogs
- 2012-10-08 10:31 Owl
- Attention all Mistie searchers, please also look out for brindle whippet cross Sally ID 43724, last seen heading down Brockwell Lane into Chesterfield at 4 pm Thurs 4 Oct.
- 2012-10-08 09:05 carrot
- I have just got back from Linacre, my dog and I went round the bottom two reservoirs unfortunately no sign of Mistie. The park ranger was not there, hopefully you got to speak to one of them yesterday. Hope Mistie makes it home today.
- 2012-10-07 15:54 Mistie123
- Thanks all, been up to Linacre, Holmbrook Valley Park, put more posters up, no sightings gave some flyers out, people are so sympathetic
- 2012-10-07 13:26 xWendyx
- We walked across the fields from Somersall Lane to Holymoorside, through part of the village and back down Greendale and onto the fields again, and we also looked at Somersall Park - no luck sadly. We didn't see any of Mistie's posters in the areas we walked, only Teddy's which we took down as he sadly didn't make it homeLast edited: 2012-10-07 13:44:03 by xWendyx

- I have been in touch with one of the farms at the back of Brookfield School fields. They will keep an eye out for her and let me know. I have sent a text to the daughter of another farm there (she lives in London but the farm is her brothers) and just waiting to hear back from her. Might be worth getting in touch with the farmers at Holymoorside (sorry, I don't know them)Last edited: 2012-10-07 11:22:46 by xWendyx

- Thank you xWendyx much appreciated. We went back this evening and got what seems to be a fresher scent, which went round footpaths and eventually up Chatsworth Rd, turning left down Holymoorside Road. That way does interlink with Somersall.

- Owner needs to contact DW, vets and poster asap. Visit the dogs home and contact chip company. She could also contact local radio and the local paper. Hand out flyers to dog walkers and post them through letter boxes. Contact local farmers and check sites on the internet. Contact the Highways Agency and Railtrack (if needed)
