Janie you are so right. This is a woman in her 60's who thinks she knows it all about dogs. She has two dogs, both of whom frequently run off. In fact her previous dog did too. They'll make their way home crossing several busy roads. The vet recently told her to double one of the dog's food intake. That would indicate WHY they're running off. By the way I called her a friend, she is more a dog walking acquaintance.

Pleased Meg is safe, but I do think your friend is being irresponsible to let Meg go "Walkabouts" or scavenge in other people`s gardens. You say she always comes back, but one day she may not, she could get stolen for instance, be involved in an RTA or end up in the wrong hands. It`s just not worth it. Stay safe now Meg:-)xxx

Thank you so much for your support. This is my friend's dog (she isn't an internet person!). Meg went AWOL from outside her own house. She often goes on the scavenge in neighbouring gardens but always comes back on call. She went AWOL about 6 months ago and was gone for 3 hours. When she came back her paws were red raw and bleeding - perhaps she'd been shut in somewhere & had scratched her way out. She's not a barker, so can everyone check sheds too please. Thanks again to all x
