Just got back from local vet and Mungo has a clean bill of health. He's had a bath but still smells a little of garlic but we don't care. Vet called him dim, which I didn't like - she should have read the poster. He's now registered with another vet. Popped into local pet shop and he's become famous overnight. We are so grateful to all who have helped and followed this saga, especially those who travelled so far to help, and those who offered equipment to catch him. If I had to offer any advice to anyone who finds themselves in a similar situation it would be, poster, poster and poster. There are lots of kind people out there.

So happy happy to have Mungo home and would like to thank every one who helped get him home. and Jenners what can I say to you but thank you,, thank you, thank you for every thing u did for Mungo. Me and Phil are just so excited he's back, Mungo is as I write this fast asleep curled up to his teddy near the fire. We have an app at the vets 2moro at 10am just to have him checked over and will get him a nice treat. I will no longer use an extending lead for him or Dolly my Bichon Will give Mungo a bath tomorrow as he needs one but for now just needs to rest. Once again Jenny you are a star :)

Can I just say, Mungo, is the sweetest little man, I was expecting him to grumble or be wary of me, but when I got him out of the trap he clung to me for dear life. He had definitely had enough and was glad he was going home. I am not sure how long he had been there. The battery died on the camera about 1am so I went home for some sleep. The fields are very boggy and dangerous to navigate in darkness so I left it till 6.30am to head back ... and there he was, curled up asleep on the straw I had lined the trap with. He obviously enjoyed the steak as he has garlic breath ! When we got back to Phil and Marion's he knew where he was, he had quick cuddles, said hello to his sister Dolly, and tucked into his breakfast. He has those horrible burr things stuck in his coat and needs a bath, but in all he seems none the worse for his adventure. I am sure he has had enough of life on the run, and now ready to settle down to family life. Good luck Mungo, be good for your Mum and Dad. I am just happy to have been local enough to help, there are so many dogs on here that have found themselves on the run. DogLost is a fantastic resource that many dogs owe their lives to, all of the co-ordinators and volunteers give their time and efforts to help reunite these poor dogs with their owners. Well done DogLost team, you are all STARS !!! My gang are happy that I had steak left over, they all had steak and sardines for breakfast :)

On the subject of security of extending leads Digbydog, we ALWAYS fit a cheap dog collar through the handle. Your hand goes through the loop of the collar and then grips the lead handle. If the dog catches you unawares and rips the lead away you still have the attached collar around your wrist.

What amazing news! I've been watching the site since 0530 hoping against hope for just this news. I don't know how we can adequateley thank Jenners. She should be cited for a commendation. Can't wait to hear her story. Everyone involved should give themselves a hug and pat on the back for all the unstinting effort that they have put in. I have skyped Lorna in New York(0245hrs). I am more than happy to help in any way, can help Jenners monitor traps, or fetch anything needed. I've trapped before but cats for CPL so some experience though appreciate the differences.. I was over in the park earlier this week hunting for Mungo so I'm not too far away. Let me know as I am free most days/nights to help support getting the little fella home.

The trap is set, I cooked him a tasty steak in garlic with sardine dressing, but he fancied the sheep poo instead ! Hopefully he will appreciate my cooking later and tuck in. Bumped into Jenners this morning at 07:20 wandering the fields. it was barely light. Saw Mungo at the cat trap, he must have been in there as his wet paw prints were inside and the bait gone. Trap was triggered but he was to large to trap. Trap now taken away, unsuitable. The rest is as Jenners said earlier. I live 10 mins away from here by car and jenners knows i am here if the wants. I am so grateful this has moved from a searching to catching game. My aching feet can have a brief rest. I hope the little rascal does not get himself hit crossing the road before we get him. Come Mungo it's time to give yerself up!

Mungo is still wandering around Pound Farm quite happily. The farmer has given us permission to set a dog trap where he seems to be spotted early mornings. We know Mungo is there, it is just a case of getting the trap in the right place to catch him. I will set the trap this evening and fingers crossed. The farmer has asked for people to now stay away, they have had school children and people wandering around their farm at all hours, it is a working farm and not a place for the public. We do not want to upset anyone, just get Mungo back safely. Please send him "get in the trap thoughts" tonight :)

I think we may have a good spot for trap. Down Church lane, need permission from person abroad but seeking that asap. Roscodot and Jenners Iwill text you the address and name of property it is in an area he was seen Monday by you and Lorna I think so on his route. A lot of people are facebooking and I have asked that nobody puts food out for him so he is encouraged to eat from trap. Have we any joy in getting more traps? I know hjm has offered to get another, worth trying Roscodot? Unsure whats happening with Many Tears trap??

Jenners, thanks for helping them. I am miles away so have only been emailing help to Janey.
Sounds very close now, local/rural PSCO's are often useful for calming down farmers if needed (or getting access to land). Can't imagine any crops at the moment let alone damage to them.
I did mention to Janey to look out for storage of hay/straw/haylage as dogs often crawl into the bottom gaps to hide/sleep. Sounds like it won't be long now though, fingers crossed x

Hi peeps. Just got back in. What a bipolar world we live in. Crappy people breed these dogs and then along come people like jenners who pick up the pieces. Just spent two & half hrs with her. Left her pondering, but prepared for all night. Update, saw Mungo at 16:45 we startled each other and he ran off from place we keep seeing him at. cat trap useless, I know I was told so. Check and remove it tomorrow, gonna be there approx 07:30 before the 8am that mungo seems to show up. There is a hedged lane I think he uses and may have a go at quietly ambushing him. Got to speak to Gerald the farmer who owns this land to see if we can set video monitored dog trap. He wasn't in tonight. Jenners, you are wonderful. Social life has been adjusted to cope with all this. Extra traps is the way to go I'm sure. They will need constant checking and we must keep the farmer on side. He seems, understandly, not to enthusiastic, but want us off his land. Jenners says set trap where he is sleeping, but dunno where this is.

Whilst we were looking to set trap close to Pound Farm, Mungo was spotted in a field further down Stroud Road opposite the layby where Seven Trent are working, I thought this belonged to Court Farm so I asked them and they have agreed I can set a trap on there land provided it is close to the hedge and I do not disturb crops, and keep it monitored. Turns out the field he was seen in belongs to another farm closer to Stroud, I have been there and they also agree I can set trap close to the hedge. It is now dark and Mungo could have been making his way back towards Pound Farm, that farmer is not in so I can't get permission, so for now I am sat monitoring the area and will stay here for a couple of hours, if he doesn't show I will come back first thing and try and get permission to set it up where he has been spotted a few times. Thankfully he is sticking to a reasonably small area so it's just a matter of time till we get the little monkey :)

yes the lovely lady setting the trap lives so near that she will be on duty with this trap. I can offer help too on this. Roscodot is out now I think setting the trap if they can as its Pound farm again but after you and I spoke Mungo had been spotted very very recently and they were on their way.. Its going to be OK fingers crossed that Roscodots days tramping across the fields will be no longer necessary!! he will get support, Dogs Lost co-ordinators have been fab. What a great charity this is.

It's great there's have been so many sightings. Any traps set must be constantly monitored, it is not safe to leave them unattended. They need highly smelly food in them, tripe, sardines etc. Good luck with catching Mungo.

Could a trap be set in Court Farm? he was spayed in July I think so he may have some hormones the female on heat might be worth a try especially if she could be in that area around 8am when he is regularly spotted. Dog warden from Stroud asked for an update and recommended this site. She has asked if Glos county council have been informed of his presence in the area? Do we know if anybody is leaving food out for him? could be somebody may be and that could establish a feeding pattern and time which could be used as the place for the trap. I did ask the farmer at Pound farm to cover all food so he couldnt use it. Dog warden thinks fox and dog traps will have better chance than the cat one. Is it possible to put signs up to ask traffic to slow down on that stetch as a dog is regularly straying accross the road?

Checked the trap on Pound Farm but empty. Followed the lead to Court Farm but a dead end. These farms are huge and we are aware of his presents in the area, but all sightings are welcome. I wish it would snow so we could track and trap him. Gonna check trap again tonight 5 ish and set another where he seems to get.

At 1320hrs today Mungo was spotted in Court Farm, Whaddon which is on the opposite side of the road from Pound Farm and further south. The farm owners got close enough to see he was aggressive (just very frightened).They are sympathetic with his plight and want to help. He crossed the road again back on to Pound Farm land. Maybe a trap could be set in that area?

Set the cat trap at 07:45 in area spotted yesterday. Cat trap not suitable i know, going to monitor every 4 hrs. I was going to wait across field with bino's but saw Mungo coming my way. I put food down but he strolled across field and missed trap.(it was down wind) Repositioned it but gonna recover it I think, too small. I have another plan. Done a google earth map of area and marking area's he is moving in.(all fields and main road) Identified a pattern and a funnel type location off the farmers land we can set a dog trap(I am certain trapping is gonna be the way forward) Meeting with jenners tonight to set trap. wish us luck.

Hi. I am John, Lorna Milton's husband. She is in New York desperate for good news.I have identified a company in Stratford on Avon who sell a range of fox/dog traps. These are a more suitable size for Mungo. I know that the farmer will not allow a large trap on his land but what about positioning one at the nearby garden centre, the school or a sympathetic householder in the vicinity with a relatively secure garden where he may be cornered. I am ready and willing to buy a trap today and bring it down.

Spent all day sat in this field in whaddon after 10am sighting. left at 17:30. Got to keep farmer on side as it's his land. He won't allow large (dog) traps as he has 7 of his own dogs. Aware cat trap not suitabe but seen it and seems worth a try. Problem is , as previously mentioned, not just sighting him, but catching him. He seems to have a perfect feral environment. Farmer did not want us on his land after dark so trap being set in morning. This comes with a comprehensive set of conditions. Gonna ask Rspca for advice also.

A cat trap is not suitable at all Mazz, I will get you a proper dog trar. let me organise one for tomorrow. You will need help from a person qwith experience of trapping too. As he wont just go in . Thanks Sammie, Ive just got in from work and seen this, its brilliant news !. I ve just emailed owners plotting and senting instructions. We may need a trap here if we can eventually keep him in a smaller area by m,eans of a feeding station. He must not be made to feelscared as he may panic and keep running, , we know the area he is staying in, and we want to keep it like that. So please owners read my advice sheets tonight on the plotting and scenting and good luck tomorrow .

Mungo has now been spotted multiple times. Great! He is not injured, not very white now, has no longer got a lead attached but still full of running. First seen in open fields west of Stroud road near Church lane in Whaddon area. Ran off rapidly. Shortly after he was the other side of the busy stroud road opposite Wynstone school. Not got a postcode for this patch of glos yet. Last seen approx 6pm still on the east side of stroud road but nearer to the M5. Spotting is not catching, sadly. Hope to have the help of the Stroud dog warden tomorrow, the more hands the better. Both feeling absolutely drained now. Hopefully revitalised tomorrow. So many people have come to help right now we cannot thank them all enough.

Mungo seen several times in Wadden today - In the field near the church and the fields opposite church lane.

Frustratingly, despite many people trying to catch him, he's just too scared and ran off every time we got close. Running towards him will result in him running away - so need to be careful esp. near roads and possibly more tactical and organised when trying to catch him.

He was last seen about 5pm several fields over opposite church lane and getting closer to the motorway.

Can we just emphasise again that Mungo is a very very scared dog and even after he had been in foster with us for several weeks was extremely timid, wary and easily frightened by sudden actions. When approaching, talk quietly, calmly and tell him how good he is. Reach under his chin and gently stroke him before making a grab for his collar or lead. If he is lunged at, he will bolt again. If cornered, he may well bite. Please come home little boy.

Me and my hubby have just returned from a torchlight search. Spoken again to the lady who has info on the sighting of Mungo. Positive it was a small white poodle with a blue rope attached (this would be his lead) it was hit by a passing van at 07:15. Mungo seen running off towards fields.(it may have been the lead handle that was hit). search carried out in vacinity twice. Seems to be moving out of Gloucester. Contacting Stroud dog warden tomorrow. Putting up more posters in the area also. Thanks everyone for the kind support.

Owner is going back tonight for a chat with the lady who saw who she thought was Mungo early today in the Stroud Rd . Owner has been out all day searching and postering. She will be going back to the same spot as the sighting, the same time tomorrow, Thanks Animal Magic, that would be great. Mungo is scared of bigger dogs, but would probably be tempted by food. BTW chicken and cheese he likes very much .

Do we know which direction he took off in? Fields either side of the road. Dark now (and single female so not going) but can go on Robinswood Hill in the morning and take a look about. Will he approach other dogs? Is he likely to be tempted by tasty food? Claire

I work at Many Tears the rescue where Mungo is from. We are unsure if he has been hit once of twice by a car from the postings below but it's even more important we find him asap. Please if you are in the area put up posters and contact your vets. His owners have done their immediate area but we are just desperate for some more sightings. Thank you.

There was a sighting of a poodle in Stroud Road whaddon area, spoke to a lady who said the dog was hit by a transit van traveling along Stroud Road at 7am this morning, and a man knocked on her door saying i have hit your dog but this was not her dog and the poodle ran off across the fields, they did look for him but to no avail been up there looking and calling him but no sign of him

Possible sitting of Mungo on Stroud Road near St Peters School on my son took a phone call and was told he may have been hit by a car reversing.

There have been no sightings of Mungo overnight. Owner is going to ring the dog warden. The police are aware, and Ive suggested network rail and the highways agency. Im sending out advice sheets now, and will request email alerts,
