I'm so pleased to read that this gorgeous little girl was found yesterday & has now been reunited with her family. We were on Keston Common this afternoon but (of course) saw no sign of Flo. I just noticed the dying bracken, thick gorse & heather and thought how easy it would be for a scared little dog to be hiding there. When I read that Flo was missing, I was so worried about the busy/fast roads that crisscross the common. During the summer dogwalkers could be lulled into a false sense of security as the trees and greenery mask the roads & so thank goodness Flo was discovered by such a lovely, caring couple. Personally we never let our dogs off lead on the Common as we often spot deer and pheasants which our dogs would be sure to chase! We even spotted an Adder last April basking in the afternoon sun curled up on one of the main pathways! A dog from Beckenham (a Samoyed) was bitten by a Adder on the Common 2/3 years ago and so I'm now so much more careful as the Adder we spotted was so well camoflauged on the gravel path we could have stepped on it!!! mathers22 - I couldn't agree more... what a wonderful pair of ears. Finally welcome home Flo - stay safe girlie.

Lost Report made at BDCH ref 295833, though we had dog reported as jack Russell Cross and brown, no mention of white of which there appears to be quite a bit. No matches so far.

Milly's Mum - You'd need to ask her owner those questions, Flo was homed in 2011 so her temperament will be best known by her owners. They told us that she was freaked by something and ran away (fireworks perhaps?) and that this was not usual behaviour for her. We were informed that she was wearing a collar and IDtag when she went missing.

Her owners have been sent advice by DogLost regarding informing Battersea, local vets, local wardens etc. She's gone missing from a very popular dog walking area, hopefully someone's picked her up and will take her to the vets on Monday to scan for a chip.

MaryEloise - can you confirm whether SDK have been contacted as they have been involved in reuniting many of our local missing dogs and they are normally taken to a local holding kennel not far from you. I also thought about searchers contacting/visiting the large garden centre (formerly called Wyevale but now known as the Keston Garden Centre) at Keston Mark. They now have a large pets department and so I'm sure they would be helpful. Also, not far from Keston Ponds, is the Holwood Estate which covers many acres and so another place for Flo to hide away unnoticed. They built new homes there - and converted many of the older buildings - a few years ago and so would be worth postering those homes (providing you are able to gain access as not sure if it's now a 'gated development'). Flo's details state that she isn't wearing an ID tag although her photo shows her wearing a red one. Can you confirm please. We shall be 'up on' Hayes Common this afternoon with our own 2 dogs and so will keep my eyes peeled and spread the word to other walkers. Finally, is Flo friendly or timid and does she get on with other dogs? Keeping eveything crossed 'this end' that Flo is found today.Last edited: 2012-10-28 09:38:53 by Millys Mum

Flo is an ex-rescue dog. She came from us, Foal Farm, Biggin Hill, 01959 572 386 (Option 7). Have crossposted on our Facebook page, we've had over 150 shares to the local area and supporters are going out to search the area. Come on Flo, move to the Blue for us girl!

I'm so sorry to hear that Flo is missing. Do you live in Keston or was you just on a dog walk? We walk our own two dogs on the Common every day & use the Baston Road car park. Make sure you put posters up as many dog walkers visit the area. There are two pubs very close by (The Greyhound & The Fox) and so make sure you ask them to display a poster (I do know from personal experience that The Fox pub is a very dog-friendly pub). Also ask the little post office next to the pub to display as poster as it's a very popular post office. There's also a lovely, busy cafe nearby (can't recall it's name but it's diagonally across the road from The Fox and post office) and so ask them to place a poster in the window. The Rangers (based at nearby High Elms) are often working on the Common as well as the Friends of Keston Common and also the Ward Security (dog-assisted patrols) check the area on a regular basis (they park their sign-written vehicles in one of the 5 car parking areas). I know there's also a school nearby but, once again, I don't know what it's called. Finally the caring, dedicated Hayes & Coney Hall Safer Neighbourhoods police team is a must to contact as they will send out an email alert. Flo may have already been picked up by someone and passed to SDK Enviromental, the contracted-out dog warden service and so make sure you call them on 01753 538 819, 01753 538 941 or 0844 482 8337. Fingers crossed that Flo will be found safe and sound. Good Luck!
