DogLost were wonderful when our boy went missing a few years ago and was found safe and well. Wish I'd known, I would've helped in search. Stay safe dear Frazier and hope you get spoilt rotten. xxx

Hes home hes home hes home!!!!! I am over the moon . If it wasnt for this site ans so so many good friends and helpers would never have found him. He was quite a way away and in the other direction to what we thought, laying in long grass, found by gamekeeper, and it took ages to catch him. Its a miracle, so happy tonight. Thanks Gang xxx

Hi Jayne, please move Frazer into the Blue, it was him that Jo's gamekeeper friend found and is on his way home. he was wearing a bandana that was very unique so easy to identify. Kind regards. Mark (Grwe Eastern region)

Jo Wood Green are on full alert, you never know, he was cared for very kindly there and he was with them longer than me, so you never know it might be a case of the incredible journey! I have been out walking for a couple of hours early this morning pinning posters and talking to dog owners in Waterford Marer shes and woods, will go again to Stoneyhills, and will be lighting that bbq just before dusk, would of thought perhaps for news today as it is lovely and sunny. It hasnt helped that have read of someones elses dog being shot by a farmer, I suppose I would never find him if this happened, but will try to stay positive. Debbie/owner
Jo
I have a bit of an odd question. I understand that Frazier was at Woodgreen Rescue for quite some time. Has there ever been a case where a dog aims for the rescue centre, rather than home?
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
If the sun comes out, he will be sunbathing as they love to do that, so let's hope for some sunshine. Rail police are more on the ball than Network Rail, so well done with that. Well done with the BBQs. Early morning and evening when its quiet, dogs often come out. A BBQ at dawn or at night, might be good if you are up for it. Trouble is we don't know exactly where he is, although smells travel at those quiet times and dogs have brilliant noses. I remember Mr T (greyhound in reunited) a couple of years ago, he disappeared from view for a wek or so and then he popped up 7 miles from home relaxing in a field, so let's all pray for sun and a sighting. Come on Frazier, time to get you home boy. You have a fantastic team in your corner. x
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
Well done team Frazier...
sushman
Also ad in Mercury and their partners coming out this week, hope that reached even more people for sightings.
sushman
Was with Kris and Carmel today, both been great again. Maybe the sausages will bring him out, certainly smelt good! More postering etc. will go out again tomorrow spreading the word. Have spoken to rail police who were very helpful, so they will contact if spotted near railway. If only we could get that sighting. But I see from this site there are lots of you helping me and my boy. I may go to Waterford tomorrow and target that area with posters.
Thanks everyone again, couldnt do it without you all. xx Kris - will also do that bbq where you suggested later in day.
kris
cooked sausages all afternoon in a field! no news no sightings :(
called at a few farms in stoneyhills yesterday as that is quite nearby - but we could really do with knowing where he is now. feeding stations at two points and recommended two points more along his original route. loads of stables and stables with barns and the like - just the sort of place he could bed down.
Ginnys Mum
I've put some posters up in Benington area. Am in Bengeo tomorrow morning before work so will put some up there too. Lets hope there is a sighting soon
Saffy
Have printed off posters, will put up on walk this afternoon, over the fields at chapmore end
Saffy
Hi, I walk over Chapmore End way most afternoons, i will pass on to any dog walkers i see.
Dog WardenDog Control East Herts
If he suddenley decides to double back he could very well, looking at his path, go through Stoneyhills onto Waterford Common at the back of Bengeo. There are lots of dog walkers around this area so it may be worth putting some posters up in Bengeo and all around that area. I will try to visit and speak to as many as I can to get them to phone in any sightings.
kris
have just rung the dog walkers that cover that area and asked them to look out and tell everyone they know x
will go out and cook some sausages outdoors this afternoon (if I dont get arrested :( ) might just draw him to a feeding station
Jo
I've asked Phil to text the gamekeeper to say Frazier still hasn't been found, just to keep it in his mind. He covers a large area and goes off road, so you never know............ he might spot something.
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
A bit more on the triangle. If we say his home was point one, the woods may be point two, where will the third point be? That's basically how you do it. If you plot the sightings, does it start to form a triangle or were they on the first leg only? The triangle can be long or short or a bit off one way, but nevertheless a triangle. x
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
You are doing great out there. I was so hoping for another sighting today. The triangle is what dogs do after they've calmed down and started to get their bearings. It kind of becomes their own turf. The mileage they go depends on the dog. Some dogs will do 200 yards, others 2 miles, huskies could do 20 if they wanted. Greyhounds possibly between 5 miles and 10, but it all depends on the dog and where he feels comfortable. Often this will be because of a water source, a food source and shelter. They need to find their own comfort zones along the way and so they will return. Hence the feeding station idea. If Frazier picks up the scent of either home or owner, he will follow it. Dogs are extremely clever; we just need for Frazier to feel calmer and to be able to think, and then he can start to work his way back. Hopefully, this will be the last of the large fireworks, although I'm sure they'll be a few odd ones. Can anyone tell me if Network Rail and the stations have been notified and whether they checked their computer for sightings? Debbie, I sent you the numbers of who to call in Essex along with the scenting instructions and Network Rail's number. Did you access the attachments okay? Good plan re riding stables. If there is a sighting please ring is and let us know asap. Well done team Frazier. Let's get this boy home. x
Carmel
Sorry I couldn't make it today. Will be out tomorrow!

Ginnys Mum, thank you so much for doing some posters and keeping a lookout! If you could stop at some of the stables in the Tewin area that would be great.

Any help offered is very gratefully received.

Just to add, Jo, that Debbie has not moved far, and was previously living with her Dad who is also actively involved in the search. If Frazier makes his way to either address he will be welcomed with open arms and a big bag of treats!!!Last edited: 2012-11-05 22:38:59 by Carmel
sushman
Hello everyone this is Debbie, I dont know why I have the name sushman, my soet this up for me, but everytime you see that name it is me.
Have put in quite a few hours today looking for my boy. I went up to Perryman Road and walked all over the fields there with my daughters dog calling and putting up posters and giving to people with dogs. I came out opposite woodhall park, put a poster on main road and talked to lady at gate cottage, then walked through grounds of woodhall. Also went into Heathmount school, and gave leaflets to give to children to distribute and look out. Then headed out to Benington Lordship, all the time pinning up posters. Put poster at Watton Rail station, and phoned rail police. Also put food surrounded by flour at Perrywood and scented as advised by Kris. Postered Broad Oak End. Going out again tomorrow with Carmel, just praying for another sighting. He could be in Cambridge by now!! Once again thank you so much to all the wonderful people helping me
Jo
I have left Frazier's details with Mutts in Distress at Littlehallingbury, Yohanna at Whittingham kennels, Waltham Abbey which is part of the RGT and also Margaret at Lodge Dog Rescue at Baldock.
Ginnys Mum
Have only just seen this at work this morning. I live near Watton and drive through there towards Hertford and Sele Farm daily for work. Will print off some posters today and pass round. There are quite a few stables in the Tewin/Bramfield area - have they all had posters?
Jo
The "triangulation" that people are mentioning. Does it have a "usual" coverage ie, certain mileage, or could it be any distance? Also Debbie says that she hasn't lived in her new house very long, would this effect Frazier's instinct to be around his home area?

Kris, Carmel, did either of you go north over the A602 (Ware Road) and poster farms up there?
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Frazier is out there, we just have to keep looking, watching, postering and waiting for another sighting. Can you see if the local papers will do a story? Local radio? Sometimes they won't but sometimes they do! Well worth a try. The more eyes looking, the better. Is there anyone who can go out on horseback, who would have permission to cross the farms etc? Riders have found dogs before, often huddled in places people wouldn't normally see. Although I must say, those out buildings sound good. Debbie, when you find him, he'll be alright again. Keep going. He's out there somewhere. If it weren't for the shooting and the fireworks, I'm sure he'd have made his way back home by now. He just keeps being spooked so runs on. Has anyone called Network Rail to let them know? So much for Hertford North station not letting you poster. Poster around it instead! The stations are not owned by Network Rail, they are owned by the operating company i.e. Anglia something or Greater something or other. The lines are owned by Network Rail. I would also contact the stations to let them know as well. Bus stops are good, but they do get taken down so maybe near to a bus stop as opposed to on it or in it. Debbie, do not give up on Frazier. Sometimes it takes days or even weeks, but persistence very often pays off. This boy is constantly in my thoughts. x
sushman
Thank you all so much for the work you have put in. I did go out early this morning and went up to Bridget Bs and have left a message on her phone, it does Iook cosy in the barns up there so he may go up but I didnt see him. I called a lot as I was driving, but I only had a short time before I had to go to Ipswich to work. I intend to go and look around tomorrow, will speak to Kris first for a plan, she is so good, she gives me hope, when by now I think I would have given up, trying to hold it together but I feel I have let him down, I promised him there would be no more misery for him and now this
Carmel
Kris & Jo - brilliant! Just in from drive around. Got a poster up at Hertford North station but ticket inspectors at Hertford East stopped me putting one up there. Might be worth trying tomorrow and speaking to ticket staff. Also think it's a good idea to poster at bus stops near the stations, but not sure if it's legal? Will speak to Debbie tomorrow - I can go out for a couple of hours after work.
kris
no news :( hardly surprising he is laying low with fireworks and the weather! will text the owner as I wonder if a feeding station where the shoot started would be a good idea? I reckon thats where he was just before he ran out on the road - you never know - he might cross back and go there xx drying out with a cuppa at the mo kris x
Jo
I've just had a text from Kris and she's asked me to update with the following info: "have done all shops, pub, garden centres in and around Watton and public footpaths. Also done industrial units backing onto Woodall Park.
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Yes Kris, good idea. A small throw away BBQ going when all is calm and quiet, may entice him over if he's close enough to smell it. Well done everyone, poster a bit outside the areas too if you can, so the posters get there before he does. School kids like to help, give them all leaflets at the school gates tomorrow if he's not home. x
kris
the outbuilding could be worth a feeding station? I am sure the owner could get some yummies over to him and a blanket on monday?
Jo
The gamekeeper has just called us. He's very kindly going to check the out buildings at the school as he has keys and also the farm buildings near by. He's aware Frazier is very nervous and knows to call us if he sees him and not to approach him.
Jo
ps. my friend that tipped me off that he was seen at the school said there have been no further sighting over night.
Jo
As Carmel bumped into the shoot at the school, it seems he actually gone towards them as he's crossed the main road from West to East. They have literally just text us to ask if he's been found or should they keep looking, which is very nice of them. They will be off road and across open ground so ideally situated to maybe see things. I'll update on here if I hear any more.
kris
text sent to carmel - am going back out and happy to collect posters and put up. its a shame the shoot moved him over the road, there were few roads where he was :( I will poster now across the road and back where he was original seen too in case he has crossed back xx
Carmel
I am out all morning in the opposite direction. In view of the weather and traffic reports on motorways, it sounds like I'll be late back so may not get a chance to put any posters up before nightfall. If anyone else is out today and can pick the posters up, please text me on 07932 948064. Thanks.
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Debbie, I am going to text you. The attachments on scenting were in the first email I sent you. Going to email again now as well. Don't take his bed as he could be somewhere else now, and you don't want to lose it. Take an old jumper or something belonging to the house or any of the family members, or anything that you don't mind never seeing again (in case they get stolen or rained on) that smells of home. You will need to get this as close to the actual sighting as possible with a poster nearby in case he stays there and someone needs to call you. Make sure you scent as well and do this well away from the rail line. Scent from the sightings back towards home. By scent I mean what is written in the email (you will need a few bottles). Every sighting, as you are plotting, is a clue and will be one of his triangle lines. Texting you now.
sushman
This is Debbie Fraziers owner. You have all been so helpful to me. I will go out tomorrow first light to the last sighting and see if I can see him, also drop poster off at train station in Watton. How does this scenting thing work, I can take his bed but where would I put it?

I am going to laminate some posters and leave them at my Dads house, if anyone is in the area to picl them up its 5 Hornbeam Close, Bengeo, Hertford SG14 3AH Tel 01992413167. Carmel knows the house
Its so unfortunate that I have to be in Ipswich again tomorrow all day with a big show I am working on for my business.

If hes still not back by Monday I will devote every day to searching etc.
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Oh dear! Awful ordeal for a nervous dog. So, he would have fled the area of shooting. With any luck he would have fled toward home. I have emailed Debbie instructions on scenting and it may be wise to scent towards home from these sightings. It can be done and this is how dogs find their way, by sniffing their way. Debbie, please do that. If you can't access the scenting instructions please, please tell me. Thank you. You can do it! x
Carmel
Was out in the same areas as kris & JN today. Speaking to everyone. I'm trying to print off posters for tomorrow but printer not happy :-( Frazier's mum will be out round the area at first light tomorrow. I can't get there till after 2pm.

I'd say the shoot today would have been more worrying for him than fireworks, it's a very rural area so hopefully not too many of those during the hours of dark.

Thanks to everyone.
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Well done, everyone. This boy is going to feel the cold so he will try and find the warmest, coziest spot he can. Could be undergrowth, trees, wood or he may come towards houses and people. It's going to hard for him because of the fireworks, bless him, but hopefully he will find a place he feels secure in and they won't be heard so much in the countryside. It is a proven fact they all do a triangle once they have their bearings. Where he has passed, he will return, so anywhere along that route, is worth monitoring and even leaving food and water. Of course, wild animals may eat it, but once Frazier knows it is there, its an easy meal and worth returning for. Obviously you are out there on the ground, so you will know best as you play it by ear. Also, I understand there is a railway line and station at Watton, please could someone keep in touch with Network Rail and the station master as they need to be aware he is on the loose. Poster there heavily too. A driver may see him running in a field and if he sees a poster, may let us know. Also, all councils in the area need to be informed. If you have a good Dog Warden, they should help you as well. We have a trap available for when we have enough information to use it, but these fast babies are hard to pin down as they are one giant step ahead of us, but we can do it. Keep those posters going up and the more posters the more sightings. Also, please keep checking in with the Highways Agencies and council road people as they all need to be aware. Finally, we have had greyhounds run 7 - 10 miles out on each leg of their big triangle before now and they have quite successfully been located and reunited safely. You are a fab bunch of helpers, you are what every owner needs at at time like this, thank you! Let's get this poor boy home quickly. x
kris
will start there tomorrow towards lunchtime x
Jo
Last sighting today around 2pm at the big private school on the watton roundabout and junction of 602
kris
we cant start a feeding station yet, we need to know where he is.
I spotted a big stables with open barns etc and left numbers there - I think this could be a likely spot as its not far from the last sighting. As soon as we hear summat - I will go out with a bag of venison (nice juicy bit of road kill from my village!!!)
Jo
ps. he was last seen in Perry Wood, which is near Perry Lane, watton at stone. This is roughly 3 miles in a straight line north, from where he was last seen on Thursday. Last edited: 2012-11-03 13:30:39 by Jo
Jo
We have just got in from having a look in the area Frazier was last seen and talking to any local dog walkers, horse riders, cyclist we saw. We've also put a poster in Bramfield Store. Kris has left notices with as many farms/stables she came across from Bramfield road, up to Watton at Stone. We have circled from Watton at stone, drove through Branfield wood on the byway and back to Watton. The gamekeeper is alerting the local farms and friends of our also know the local farmers and they've been informed. This is a farming area and HEAVILY wooded but obviously has busier roads running around it.
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Can I confirm, is this near to Hertford town or out towards Welwyn Garden? Many thanks.
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
WGAS Helen! Got it, thank you! It's okay we are sorting out the trap from Basildon. Can owners/helpers start the feeding site asap. Thank you. x
Dog WardenHelen exWGAS
I'm not actually a dog warden. I work for Wood Green where Frazier came from. I have spoken to our local council and I can't get a trap from them until Monday. We are Huntingdon so a good distance away. I don't know if anyone has a trap more locally? Has anyone asked the local council? I know they r not always helpful. Frazier did not have a good start to life and is very wary of strangers. Poor boy x
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
I am concerned because fireworks were going off late into the night and will probably do so again. If this boy is nervous, this could make him even worse. I don't know if this was happening where Frazier is? DW Helen, does the council not hold traps? I can access one but it is in Basildon. I believe it is quite big. If we can get it to Hertford we would need someone to man it 24/7 who knows what to do and will abide by the trap rules as stated by us. Before we can do that we need to know Frazier's triangle and have at least one further sighting. It may be prudent to start leaving food and water next to a blanket (that smells of home) in the same sheltered location daily and check every hour or sit and watch. This is basically what you'd do with a trap anyway. If owner was there, he would probably go to her now. Before a trap, we need to know where he is. the exact location of the gamekeeper sighting is the place to start. He has passed that way before and will do so again. Is it possible, and is it safe, to scent from that location back home? How far away is it? Pls keep us posted on here so we know what to do further. Thank you. Come on boy, let's get you home. x
Dog WardenHelen exWGAS
Please remember that Frazier is a very nervous lad. He will run away if confronted by people he doesn't know well. Particularly now he is on his own. Does anyone have a dog trap? This may be the best chance. Last edited: 2012-11-03 11:03:41 by Helen exWGAS

Thanks Jo. Will get there as soon as I can.

For anyone local, Frazier is now a fair bit north of Windyridge Farm.Last edited: 2012-11-03 10:17:54 by Carmel

My husband and I are heading out to look for him where he was last seen - chasing a fox apparently!!! The gamekeeper now knows he's a lost pet and will contact the local farm owners.
Jo
We know the local game keeper and have just had a text back from him saying he was seen yesterday in a local wood. We are on the phone now trying to find out more. Will post more as soon as I know.

I'm really sorry to hear that Frazier is missing. I will have a drive around tomorrow, in the hope that I spot him. I would suggest putting posters up at the parade of shops in Sele Farm if you can. I hope you have some news about Frazier soon - keep positive.
Carmel
Thanks kimmybear and sanbarn. Frazier's mum said he was spotted on the Bramfield Road yesterday evening. I don't know the area but will head over there with a friend tomorrow. Frazier is a shy boy, not now wearing a collar as he slipped out of it, so will be very hard to catch.

Sorry Kim. we pounced at the same time :-) x
