- Other Info Bentley was spooked by a neighbour's firework as we were putting him into the car. He ran off and we haven't seen him since. He was not wearing a collar but is chipped. He is very timid, and probably very frightened. He is a full pedigree Rough Collie - not a cross.

- Wonderful news. Your "Lassie" (Bentley) has come home. When I was a child my sisters and I had an imaginary Rough collie, whom we called "Lassie Loma" Apparently he lived in Australia, and we lived in the UK. Ha, ha. Stay safe now Bentley:-)xxx

- Unable to go through woods today instead walked around the raspberry fields (opposite side of road), this evening only, roosting pheasants around.Have kept checking on fields from farm shop down to barracks/farm as I have been out and about. If not already done so I will put some flyers through the houses along that road. Fingers crossed he will be home soon.

- I'm so happy your story had a happy ending - it's good to hear. We live at number 34 - just a few hundred yards from the MOD base so he's usually walked through the woods and around the fields up there. I think we will try scenting in the next couple of days, we've had some fantastic advice. Thank you xx

- Im so sorry to hear your poor dog has gone missing. You must be heartbroken, dogs are part of the family. Especially as he ran off as he was scared of the fireworks, been ou all weekend with them going off :( a prime example why they should be banned from public sale, iv signed an online petition, ill try find link to share on here. Im in Hoo so me and my OH will keep an eye out. Childminder is in Chattenden so will ask her to make parents aware too. If i didnt have a baby i wud b out helping to look as i know just how heartbreaking it feels. Our dog went missing last year, she was a rescue and hadnt had her very long. She was a very nervous dog so wen she went missing it was hard to get her bak as there were many sightings but she was just running. She was found wen another dog obviously saw/smelt/heard her and went under a fence to chase her. Owner saw the dog and remembered seeing a poster so called us. When we called her name from other side of fence her tail went mad and came to us. It was a long long 7 days but was so thankful to have her home. Where do u normally walk him? If we can, we will walk with our dogs there and see if they pick up anything. Seemed silly but we scented area she went missing, and done a bbq but didnt come out while we were there. She was only across the road where we were a lot of the time, if only she had come out sooner, wud have saved us a lot of stress and heartache! Good luck and ill keep spreading the word xx

- Shared on Foal Farm Animal Rescue Centre's and ProDogsDirect's Facebook pages. Both local rescues. Worth asking the RSPCA at Leybourne and also Happy Endings Rescue in Faversham.
Dogs Today Magazine are also good at sharing these things. - 2012-11-06 17:24 Sherlock Bones Police Liaison Co-ordinator
- CJ already advised on scenting and on poss contact for getting behind the wire at the barracks.
- 2012-11-06 16:22 CJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
- Owners have postered well in many areas. if hiding i will send on scenting in an email as familair smells might make him feel safe to come out of hiding.

- He's got to come out for food at some point, possibly early morning or dusk. Someone will see him, and hopefully whoever spots him will have seen a poster and contact you. That's what happened with the dog I was looking for at the weekend.

- Thank you - no reported sightings as yet, which is so strange. We can only think that he is hiding out in the woods and will make his way home soon. Someone with a female RC has made contact so we may go walking with her later in the week to see if she can encourage Bentley to come out. Please keep sharing on facebook and Twitter. Thank you all for your help so far xx

- There is some building work going on along the cinder track at the bottom of the woods, will have a scout around there and through the woods later today. Hopefully Bentley will be home by then.Last edited: 2012-11-06 08:36:44 by Flossie

- THANKS SYLVIA >>>>Text back from owners they had already spoken to Jasmil and they have no record of a rough collie.
I will email you but if you read this can you find out a bot more about this? Maybe it was a border collie not a rough collie - 2012-11-05 17:18 CJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
- Owners were given number and have posted they have notified jasmil. I would hope if it had been Bentley they would have reunited or informed via his chip. It might have got missed but then owners did phone and i cant believe they did not match them both up???

- Important owner contacts Jasmil Kennels as according to a fellow dog walker a young adult rough collie was picked up and handed in to them at the weekend.

- Hi, we did notify the guards and we've searched all through the area. We believe he may have run through the woods towards Cliffe Woods but can't be certain. Posters are up in the local area and we've posted about 150 leaflets through doors. We've notified Jasmil Kennels and many of the local vets. Thanks for your help everyone

- Am in that area around lunchtime so will have a look and will also take a poster to Medway City Vets. Also tell my kennel lady at Hoo. Rough collies do tend to panic.

- Did he go missing from Lodge Hill Lane? Whereabouts? Was it near the military road? Have you informed the 2 guardrooms at Lodge Hill camp?
