- With the heaviest of hearts we have to inform you all that it would appeara that Sam was killed on the railway line close to our home on the 14th the day he escaped. Thanks to everyone who has helped us piece together the jigsaw that led back almost to our own door . We are very very saddened by this . Thanks again

- Still no sign of Sam but we are hopeful that someone may have taken him in . Please if you notice a new dog in your area that looks like sam let us know . He is easily recognised by a small bald patch on his front right paw.

- That would be the best news if Sam was found now. It definitely seems like someone has taken him in as there is no other evidence to suggest otherwise. Fingers crossed it is him and you catch up with him soon.

- Thanks Scoobster, have followed that up and the dog must have been picked up from police station by owner as it was not handed into EDCH.Last edited: 2012-11-28 14:04:16 by Sable - Regional Co-ordinator - Scotland

- Good to see there's been some sightings. I know only too well that people mistake flatcoats for labs and other dogs! Leafleting definitely a good idea - then people will have your number to hand if they happen to come across him. Worth giving them out to dog walkers too. Hope the lovely Sam is home soon.

- Just been looking on lost and found ads on gumtree and have come across this post, Seems a little too far (If sightings are correct) but you may want to rule it out for your own peace of mind
Pure black, medium to large size dog, appears to be a collie/Labrador cross. Male, very friendly and a bit hyper. Was wondering around Whitecraig on the 27th November, so we took him in. The Musselburgh police came and collected him, they said they would keep him at the station for a few hours then take him to the Edinburgh Cat and Dog home. He had a black collar, no tag, and long wavy black hair. He would sit and stay on command and didn't enjoy being stuck in the kitchen alone, we have a young daughter and unfortunately couldn't keep him here till we found his owner. Hope he finds his home, lovely big lad. If you want to ask any questions please feel free to ring me.

- Credible sighting last night of sam . A dog believed to be him approached a lady walking from Crosshouse Hospital to Crosshouse village . Sadly he disappeared down a dark unlit path between Dairy Cottage and adjacent converted farmhouse. The lady went to the Portland arms where there is a poster of sam and was convinced it was him . We went immediately and scoured the are but without success - will return today and try and raise the householders there and leaflet the adjacent area . have asked the Dog wardens to try and take a look and anyone else who might have the opportunity to keep and eye open in the crosshouse area Thanks again Ronnie Wilson

- There was also the Dundonald report does anyone know any more . as 4 Dog says 10 miles is nothing for a Flattie he would do that in a morning and it was a route that he went albeit by car to the beach at troon . It was not like him to wander at all and we fear that he is either very lost or being kept .

- Hi there . there has been a sighting of a dog which may have been Sam on Saturday 24th in King street Kilmarnock when a dog like him was apparently causing a bit of a fuss running up and down. This dog was wearing a collar - sam when he escaped was not but this does not mean that it could not be him - Its possible that he has been taken in collared and released/escaped . If anyone has any further detail on this please let me know . I spoke to police and security at the christmas event happening in King Street at the time but they had not seen the dog . Thanks

- I find it odd because it is so unlike Sam to go anywhere (according to his owner) and then to be seen 10 miles away- but yes- dogs are lifted and taken further afield where they either escape or are dumped off.
- 2012-11-19 18:32 4dog
- 10 mile hike is nothing to a flatcoat.
- 2012-11-19 14:22 allanabru
- A dog was found in our area which was lost around 5 miles away only just over an hour beforehand - so dogs can travel far and fast. This dog had never been in this area, it may be that someone lifted it in a car then dumped it.

- Seems an awful long way for Sam to have gone. Troon is about 10 miles away from Dundonald road.
