- Hello to you all, just wanted to Say a big THANKYOU to "all" for your concerns and support in finding poor old Bertie. And to give you an update!
Bert has slept in his nice warm bed since arriving home yesterday afternoon a bit bewildered and not too good on his pins! We cant believe he survived four nights out in the elements I think we have experienced a miracle!
A lady who lives in the lane was walking her own dog, who found Bert, he barked at him in the ditch, realising it was Bert from the posters she came to the house and alerted my husband who then rescued him from the very deep ditch. WHAT A WEEK ........ once again thanks to everyone especially Nancy who had the savy to use this website XX - 2012-12-01 15:01 SuzeeBee
- Managed to change my plans so have been over to Lawshall again this morning and removed all posters. I was hoping to see dear old Bert but no one at home. I hope you see this message Abe babe and thanks for the offer but hopefully will have saved you a trip. xxx

- Have been out looking and postering for 3 hrs this morning. There is now a flyer at every house down donkey lane. There is a farm with cows and pigs so nice warm barns. couldn't find anyone about but flyered the vehicles. Spoke to the lovely gamekeeper at Rookwood Hall and the security at Coldham Hall they will all keep eyes peeled. Only saw two walkers and how bizarre they come from my village 20 miles away !!! Put up more posters and a kind gentleman is going to take one to the pub tonight (it is only open in the evenings at weekends). Spoke to Nancy and she has been texted by someone who heard a dog howling in Golden Wood. I will contact the green light trust as they have a poster and walk the woods. Hope this helps and you have some news today. Wherever you are Bert I hope you are safe. xx
- 2012-11-29 23:57 Jane

- 2012-11-29 20:45 SuzeeBee
- Thank you for the flyers Helen. I have printed off loads and am adding a note to ask people to search gardens, sheds ponds and ditches. Will be out tomorrow with more posters. I hope there will be some good news tomorrow. x

I HAVE JUST CONTACTED - MOAT HALL RIDING SCHOOL / WILLOWS CARE HOME and BRIGHTHOUSE FARM, LAWSALL. THEY NOW HAVE PHONE NUMBERS TO CALL IF THEY SEE BERT.
I have sent a "large" Face Book post to Bury St Edmunds Rugby Club and a relation works at the Tax Office in Bury, so he will be forwarding my email to all his contacts in the area. - Thanks for everyones help today........I have been unable to print posters off and being in leighton buzzard doesn't help!! Oh and there are 12,000 chickens!!!!!
- 2012-11-29 14:35 Abe babe
- Went today to Bert's home and started two hour search from there, including the woodland opposite. I gather he is not totally blind or totally deaf, just declining in all departments. I was told it is very unlikely that he would have walked any great distance on his own and they were out with torches and car lights within minutes of him vanishing.
He was 'off colour' the day he went missing. - 2012-11-29 14:14 SuzeeBee
- The postman saw a dog loose early in the week, if he can remember where it was he will ring the owner. He is changing routes tomorrow but will pass on the poster.
- 2012-11-29 14:11 SuzeeBee
- Have been over to Lawshall this morning. No posters to be seen. I only had 10 as my printer has run out of ink but gave one to the local postman, one on noticeboard outside school,on the bus stop, one to a fencing contractor working down Donkey Lane, one to Greenlight Trust who manage the woodland and one to the Farm at the end of Donkey Lane they are going to be selling Christmas trees and lots going on this weekend. The rest I put up on posts down donkey lane. This is a very long road with few houses can we have an address where Ben went missing from as lots of deep ditches and hedges. Have now got more inks and Helen is sending me flyers to print off. Will try to get over again tomorrow. I hope this dear boy has found some warm shelter, there are plenty of free range hens about !!!
- 2012-11-29 10:37 Helen - Regional Co-ordinator - Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridge
- Scenting advice has been E-mailed to the owner SuzeeBee x
- 2012-11-29 10:20 SuzeeBee
- Could scenting instructions be sent to owner as poor Bert is both deaf and blind his sense of smell will be stronger. I live between Bury st Edmunds and Stowmarket but will try to get to Lawshall today to help look. Good luck to everyone searching I hope he will be found safe and well.
- 2012-11-29 10:02 Denise
- Hi Nancy. Last night I forwarded Berts poster (by email and Face Book)to "all the Vets" in Bury St Edmunds. Where the Vets have a FB site, it will be seen by LOTS of people. Messaged all my friends to look out for him.
I live in Sudbury but cannot get over to help at the moment - Good Luck XXXX
- 2012-11-29 07:18 Abe babe
- Hi Nancy, if I can change my working hours this morning I'll drive over and walk the fields. I may call you for more specifics regarding his home location (where he started from) if that's alright?
- 2012-11-28 22:36 NancyGWP
- Hi,he's not very foody!!! He went out for a wee in the evening and when mum and dad went to let him back in,he was gone! He was out in the garden about ten mins!!
- 2012-11-28 22:06 Jane
- A lady and her family are going to walk the village and fields tomorrow for you.
Does Bert have a favorite food/smell etc? What circumstances did he go missing in? - 2012-11-28 21:43 Helen - Regional Co-ordinator - Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridge
- I've been off-line tonight but would like to say thank you to everyone who is helping to find Bert x

- Hi all. Im a friend of Nancy's. We called the dog warden today as well as the vets and local kennels but not West End ones. I will get her to call the local pubs too as i dont know the area. We really do appreciate everyones help so much and are keeping our fingers crossed.
- 2012-11-28 20:24 Jane
- Hi Nancy, a lady in Lawshall is offering help, Bert is staying at the top of the selling site by everyone bumping up. Have you called the dog warden and West End Kennels? Vets in Bury, local pub?
- 2012-11-28 20:00 NancyGWP
- Hi,thank you for the lovely comment, bert is my dog that lives with my parents in lawshall........I used to work at goldstar kennels, and have been ringing all day and didn't get an answer!!
- 2012-11-28 18:35 Lankeela
- Will put it on easterdogscene. The are boarding kennels in Lawshall where I used to work, telephone 01284 830333 - people often contact kennels if they see a stray dog.

There are some useful phone numbers on here, I tried to email the Local neighbourhood team but it bounced. Need to get posters up everywhere. I have looked on google earth and Donkey Lane is quite long anything to narrow the search? I am waiting for new inks for my printer so will not be able to poster yet. Stupid question but has the garden been thoroughly searched? Also any sheds or outbuildings. Keep safe lovely lad and let someone find you. x - 2012-11-28 17:55 Jane
- Poor Bert :( I've added him to the Things for Sale or Wanted in BSE on FB. There's getting on for 9000 members on this page. They are pretty good and will keep the post bumped up to the top so loads of people should get to see him and share.
Helen, I'm presuming they've contacted West End and St Eds? - 2012-11-28 17:44 Abe babe
- I've asked a farmer friend to email an alert on his farmline which is in the local area of Lawshall/Cockfield and will reach many locals.
Praying for his safe return. - 2012-11-28 15:57 Helen - Regional Co-ordinator - Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridge
- Thank you Denise x
SuzeeBee the road Bert went missing from is Donkey Lane. - 2012-11-28 15:43 SuzeeBee
- Lawshall is a very rural area and the village is very spread out. Can we have a more precise area that Bert went missing from. He can't have gone very far if the poor lad is blind and deaf.I am not very near but will try and get there tomorrow, hope he is found before then. Stay safe Bert x
- 2012-11-28 15:42 Denise
