- Thanks ESSJ for sharing that as I didn't know any details. Wonderful story on how she was caught and goes to show how Plotting and scenting works. So pleased she's home.

- lovely update on how Jess was caught, copied from her facebook page.
Due to all the sightings of Jess I plotted them on an OS map. From there we knew the best area to focus our search. Having no sightings since Saturday it felt like a gamble to concentrate on this area so closely but we had no other leads at the time. With help from my friend we posted the MISSING posters on lamp posts and through houses letter boxes. We had a few phone calls minutes later saying yes they'd seen her on Friday and Saturday and one person said food was going missing from their compost bin by the back door which was really unusual as it's never happened before, even the fox leaves the food! We knew and hoped it was be her!!!
As we carried out the search in this fairly localised area I dragged her smelliest towel behind me in the hope of leaving a familiar scent for her to find and then she would know I was trying to find her.
We visited the house where the food was going missing and did the same there too. I felt really silly dragging the towel but the facts said it could work so hey ho. You do what you have to do.
When we got there she wasn't any where to be seen. But I cut the towel in two and the couple living in the house were happy for me to leave it over night in case she returned for the roast dinner she'd already prepared for her on a plate (I knew if she was out there she was in good hands just by there offering of top quality looking roasts!)Anyway...she didn't show up. They phoned to tell me and we were devastated. Gutted. We had no new leads and we thought she must have moved on and perhaps the towel dragging had confused her (I was blaming myself again).
Early next morning, I had a phone call saying they've just seen her in their back garden sitting on the half -a -towel I'd left and she's eaten the roast dinner.
I couldn't get dressed fast enough. Drove as safely as I could and quickly too. It was a long 10/15 min drive.
Got there at the house but no Jess. She wasn't anywhere to be seen. The couple were convinced she was, encouraging me to look under the bushes and around the gardens because they said "she's right there". I doubted them! I took out her cage and bed and metal bowls with food in and placed them in the garden for her to catch the scent, also left the car doors open for her to smell that too.
After nearly an hour she came. I was so overwhelmed by emotion I just got down on my knees and had a little cry as she approached sheepishly. This set the lady off crying too as she was watching saying "Arr look there she is, she's seen you now".
A moment I'll never forget.
She was so happy to get in the car and be driven home to be reunited with my 2 boys and partner.
I hope this reads ok and that it makes sense. I'm so tired.
We'll all sleep really well tonight and hope you all do too.
Thank you again.
Ps. Jess was a very lucky dog as all she seemed to have done was cut her leg on something. She's got medication from the vet and a funny blue collar to wear to stop her licking the wound. She's sulking a bit because she keeps bumping in to things.
Nice one everyone, from all of us xxxx - 2012-12-05 20:36 Jayne - Founder Doglost.

- Wonderful news JessieDog......Jess looks like a real beauty and I was so worried about her from afar. Dare I ask if Jess is a Cavapoo? Only she looks just like my black & tan cav but with the poodle mix xx
