Thanks for your suggestions Skippy, I'll make sure I've done them all and not missed anyything.

So far he's pretty much on every possible website: petlog, animalsearchuk, national pet register, gumtree, local yahoo groups, facebook, catchat, pets located, animals reunited and a couple of others that I can't remember off the top of my head.

We've contacted all local vets and pet shops, local council, spoken to neighbours, put posters in local community groups and shops. Leafleted local roads. Next thing I'm doing is reporting him as possibly stolen to the local police, hopefully they'll be aware of any known pet thieves. I've contacted the RSPCA, Cats Protection and Battersea Cats and Dogs. All the other rescues I've contacted have pretty much said they scan any animal that comes through their doors but at the same time are telling me they're full and not accepting any new animals so don't know how they can scan them! Hopefully they'll be taking note of what he looks like and contact me if they hear anything.

I'm absolutely desperate to find him, we've had ads in the local paper and are offering a reward. He's been my baby for 3 years and he means the world to me. I'm lost without him. I just hope he's safe and warm wherever he is. Last edited: 2012-12-14 20:50:50 by FranCulley

Hi coralvb, thanks for the post, I've checked it out and whilst it's identical to Diesel, Diesel is chipped. :(

Catchat website has a great action plan of things you can or should do. Many of these will be the same as for finding a lost dog, - but link is here if there is anything you haven't thought of yet -

http://www.catchat.org/lost.html

They also have a list of local rescues all of who might be contacted if a cat is found - http://www.catchat.org/adoption/hants.html

I also assume you have contacted all your local vets - make sure they all get his details. Cats tend to travel a little less than dogs so lots of fliers through local doors can be really effective. Encourage neighbours to check garages and sheds to make sure he hasn't got himself shut in somewhere. Keep an eye on windowsills of any empty houses or houses where neighbours may be on holiday.

I work with a cat charity close to where I live (not close to you I'm afraid or else I'd help on the ground) and almost without exception it is the posters and fliers that bring lost cats home (assuming of course that they don't bring themselves back when they're hungry)

Make sure you check out other sites too - pet register have lost cats reported. Gumtree also have lost and found pets too. Good luck with your hunt.x

Could the owner check out a found cat on this facebook page http://www.facebook.com/groups/75076385567/permalink/10151347200820568/#!/groups/LOSTSTOLENFOUNDCATSUK/524830970868149/?comment_id=524831037534809&notif_t=group_activity

There is not a lot of info in the post and I will try to find out a bit more. The poster thinks the cat is an indoor cat as does not like to go out and the cat looks very much like this one. I will send them the link to this page.
