- Thank you for looking out for Joshua. We will contact the warden for Tunbridge Wells and see if any dog was reported/handed in.
- 2015-12-28 09:13 potap
- Saw what appeared to be a stray golden retriever in Tunbridge Wells yesterday. It was lying down outside Cote on Mount Pleasant Road at about noon. No apparent owner, collar or lead. Looked scruffy and ungroomed but not too skinny. Seemed very placid and content. Unfortunately there was nothing we could do as we had got the train down for the day with my wife's guide dog and no warden picking up phone. May be worth asking the staff in case the dog often comes by.
- 2015-12-22 16:57 Skywalker99
- It should be a no-brainer for rescues and wardens to do a full body scan of all dogs...think how much money they might save to spend on dogs that really need help if they scanned all dogs, even hand ins.
- 2015-12-22 16:44 Rose
- Wensmum, I was not aware of that! Come 2016 surely all DW's will have to scan all dogs as all dog owners are being made to m/chip x
- 2015-12-22 07:39 wensmum
- Very few vets scan and check databases for new patients, Rose, not all dog wardens are even given scanners, rescues etc rarely scan hand-ins. Please sign and share the #ScanMe petition on the home page of Doglost to help make it law and help poor Joshie and thousands of others home.
Josh shared to many lost dog fb pages xx - 2015-12-20 21:12 Retriever
- Vets do not scan

- 1116046483 that's the gumtree reference of the advert which has a cream coloured GRfor sale. This owner sounds genuine and says he is his second owner, so maybe the finder sold him on? He's in Greenwich has a photo but not a good one. Seems genuine but maybe worth a call to enquire if he's your guy. On the advert headline States he's 7 months old but in advert says the seller has had him longer. Hope it helps.

Photo taken but finder couldn't get near him, but knew he was male and seems to have been living rough for a while as seemed as though he didn't want to be caught. He headed off towards a river evidently, lady called dog warden and rspca but had no luck. There's a photo of the dog concerned on the listing o may help. Fingers crossed.

- I agree with the poster below- it only takes a moment for vets to scan and a tick in the box of their computer to say it's done and correct.
But anyway, just to say a Golden Retrieve male posted in Dogs Found section today just to be aware of (no photo)

- Well done .. postering is the way to go. Don't give up. Your boy is out there somewhere and at least people seem to know that he is missing which is really good. Remember to keep telephoning all the rescue centres/vets/wardens etc to keep them aware that he has not been found yet. Let's hope for another sighting soon.

- Nothing more from Borough Green, seems to be a female retriever that keeps escaping. Posters still up though in case. 3 weeks ago were informed of sighting of pale cream retriever in St Mary's Platt. They contacted all local retriever owners but wasn't theirs, so contacted us and we put up posters, walked area with our other dog, but nothing so far.

- Shame it wasn't your boy, but at lest it means that the posters are working. Any other news or possible sightings?

- Sorry this wasn't your dog, but pleased he has been reunited. So hoping your lovely boy is found very soon too. Did you hear anymore re the Borough Green sighting? xxx

- Thank you. Sadly not our dog. We actually reported this dog as found to dog lost as a kind lady had called us to say she had found a retriever and hoped it was ours. She has also just advised the good news that the dog has been reunited with its owner as it was found to be chipped. Last edited: 2013-02-16 13:46:32 by Padden

- A gentleman has just called us from Bexhill petrol station to say he has found a female pale cream retriever, and she has a different number on her collar, so he will call them now. So sadly seems the sighting in Bexhill was not our dog, but glad someone else has their dog back.We will continue to follow up the Borough Green sighting, and are putting up posters in the area.Last edited: 2013-01-27 14:10:57 by Padden

- Sorry your boy is still missing. Yes, I don't think you should assume that chips are always checked - and occasionally they are but the scanner can't find them! Also remember that memories aren't always correct - someone may remember a dark coloured dog but it depends how close they were to him. When I was involved in a local lost dog I couldn't say whether the pictures the owner had were the same as the dog I'd seen on the loose (even after she'd emailed me several more). But that did have a happy ending so don't give up hope! Good luck, I hope he's home soon.

- Following our conversation .. if you believe yr boy has bn stolen you need to get the Police to give a crime number asap. Put up as many posters as you can, whoever has taken him may be waiting for the phone numbers to appear and the word REWARD, get the posters up in as many places as you can. If you feel you must visit the local Travellers sites please don't go alone, make them aware of yr boy whilst not saying too much, just give them some posters and make sure they know there is a Cash Reward, no questions asked. Make him as famous as possible so everyone knows he's been taken. If you think you know where he could be you need to poster cafes, garages, shops, pubs in those areas..everyone has to eat and get petrol. Give posters to the local postmen, milkman, post office, doctors, social security office .. anywhere and everywhere to get the word around. Tell the local newspaper, they may do a story if he has been stolen. Keep postering and spreading the news - he may be let go and could be on the lose again. If not, you need people to come forward with news of him. Remember to check animalwardens site regularly and the sites that sell dogs .. Preloved, Dragondriving, Gumtree. Also worth giving posters to local farmers in case they have seen people rabbiting, hunting on their land. Good luck .. let's get this boy home.Last edited: 2013-01-21 17:10:27 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex

- Ravenette .. Both sightings are well away from where the dog went missing from, but if stolen could be in either area. The Bexhill sighting 5 days ago is in my area, but obviously it may or may not be Padden's boy. However, I have offered to go look if there is a new sighting. Hope the poor dog in Storrington area is caught soon.

- So a golden has been seen in the Storrington/West Chiltington area since Monday, this poor dog is limping and dirty and dishevelled so really hope the dog wardens are able to catch it. This is some 50 miles from the Bexhill sighting, so does it tally? We need to get posters up in Storrington village and ask around to see if there is a local golden that has gone missing/escaped or one that is allowed to wander; I can do this, but not until the weekend. Please let me know xxx
- 2013-01-16 19:20 Padden
- He was lost believed stolen from Marden, near Staplehurst, Kent. However, there was a sighting at a petrol station in Bexhill of a golden retriever. We took posters to where the dog was seen, and a person at the petrol station said it looked like the dog he had seen 4/5 days earlier. Since then have been further sightings in west Chiltingdon and Storrington.

- If this retriever is by any chance picked up in the area nr the garage .. which I think is imbetween Little Common and Cooden then he could be taken to one of 3 areas, so wld suggest that you contact all 3 dog wardens in these areas. They are Eastbourne dog warden 01323 41 53 80 Rother dog warden 0845 241 7253 Hastings dog warden 0845 241 7253. I wish I'd seen this earlier as was on way to work near there. Will have a look tomorrow if no news. I have re-alerted the vets in the area (who are ones that actually check microchips). Also my hubby is driving home that way to have a look to see if he can spot him. Good luck.

- update from owner
Just spoken to Horsham Environmental Health, and they had a reported sighting yesterday of a retriever in Storrington which is very near to West Chiltington. Have spoken to Hammerpond Kennels who are responsible for rescue in Horsham and mid Sussex, and they will look out for him and let us know if there are any further sightings. We have also notified RSPCA, Brighton and will advise Worthing Dog Warden as that is the next main town.
Bumped and requesting mailings to this area

- Owners have had information of a similar dog sighted by a lorry driver loose on A 259 at Bexhill near a jet petrol station confirmed by photos shown to them yesterday . If driving in this area please watch out.
More worrying have been a call to say they have the dog and asked his name- Owners replied how much for the dog back they told them wanted to keep to train as a fighting dog- which in itself is somewhat ridiculous as this breed has no fighting instincts. If a cruel hoax then it shows how sick some folks can be. This information has been passed to police. - 2013-01-15 19:20 Padden
- Thank you so much. Have left message on the Wadars phone with his ref number and have emailed all our details to them too, just in case.
- 2013-01-15 18:17 wensmum
- Have emailed local businesses in and around West Chiltington, with your poster and details of the stray dog. Have spoken to the Worthing dog warden who will be working with Wadars 0300 3030 999 to try to collect the stray if there are more sightings of stray dog. They are aware of the possiblity of the stray being a "doglost" dog, but sorry, didn't have your ref number when the phone went. If you wish to email Wadars you can through their site http://www.wadars.co.uk/default.asp?pg=167 to give them your contact details in case............. I so hope you find your lovely boy, soon

- I’ve found that it helps to print out an A4 sheet of paper cut into business-card size slips, each with brief details and your phone number on. Give them to all the local dog walkers, postmen etc. you meet. Then if someone has news when they’re out and about they don’t need to find a poster or log on to the site to contact you. Glad he's tagged and m/c. Hope he's home soon. I'll share on FB.

- Sorry to see that JOSHUA MISSING SEVEN YEARS is missing.
- If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and check that all details are up to date.
- Owners targeted by a malicious hoaxer demanding money for the return of their dog should phone the police on 101 immediately and contact admin@doglost.co.uk
- A photograph of your dog is essential for the website. If you have not already uploaded one, please do so by clicking on Update details. Alternatively you can email it to admin@doglost.co.uk quoting the dog's DogLost ID number: (46486)
- Obtain a missing poster by clicking on View poster above. Posters are very important so start postering now!
- You will need to be logged in to upload photos, edit your dog's details, or add comments. You can add comments by clicking on Click here to add a comment.
- Contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres, and in Scotland, the Police. Give a detailed description with any distinguishing marks/scars or send them a copy of your DogLost poster. You can find vets in your area here.
- If your dog has been stolen inform the police immediately and obtain a crime reference number (CRN). Send an email to stolen@doglost.co.uk.
- If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be legally re-homed after seven days. Visit rescue centres in person and do not rely on checking by phone alone. Other people may not recognise your dog by your description, so give them a DogLost poster.
- Keep us updated by keeping your dog's page up to date and check for posts from helpers who may have suggestions and possible matches or sightings
- DogLost is free and anyone asking for money to find or return your dog is not volunteering for us. If you are concerned about an approach you have received, please email admin@doglost.co.uk
