Thank you. Am closing off of here now and getting things ready for Christmas just made perfect. This is another experience she has made it through, don't know what she went through previously. Everyone has been so kind, apart from the few crank callers. I will love to see what she is like is a few months time, I am sure she will a very happy people dog.It appears that she was dumped (they think)in a vets grounds. Maybe she was sensible enough to find them herself, she could have tracked the scent of other dogs going there. Anyway I am so grateful she is safe and now Sherlock and everyone else who has met her or heard about her can stop worrying. Thank you also to all the lovely people that have helped on here. Thank you on behalf of Sherlock who is feeling a little better now.
RottieRoo
Good to talk to you. Plumbers Plain is only about 6 miles from Copsale, by road, so going a shorter route across fields, I'm sure Halo could have made it by foot. X

She was dumped somewhere near plumbers plain, don't know the area but have found it on a map. Sherlock is really ill think through all the upset unless he is getting that bug so I am ringing round friends trying to get someone to take me to pick her up as they said I could get her for him. Yes her Halo along with everyone's prayers, obviously kept her safe, a very good name I think. .
RottieRoo
That was a roller coaster 24 hours! So pleased she has been found. Where was she? If you have a problem with transport let me know and I may be able to help, if it's not too far! Happy Xmas Halo and Sherlock x

Delighted Halo is safe was so worried for her. Got in a panic last night when her page disappeared. Would love to know where she was found and that she is ok. Great she will be home for Xmas with her family. Julie x

WONDERFUL news so pleased HALO is home safe. Her Halo must have kept her safe. Well done xx
Sherlock
Spoken to a different really lovely man and lady. Am arranging transport as we speak to go and collect her. Halo is in good condition, frightened but has been walking on a lead with the people looking after her. Could not eat at first but has been eating now. Thank you for all your help. They think she was stolen and dumped near them the following day.Last edited: 2012-12-24 10:42:18 by Sherlock

Admin...maybe this dog needs to stay as 'lost' as it appears it could be the wrong dog and they are not reunited yet . I helped by postering today, and spoke to a lady who is sure she saw Halo on Friday early evening. Sherlock, or friend, please update as soon as you can tomorrow, as I should be able to give some time to looking and putting more posters up for you, if Halo is still missing. Where is this dog that the lady has found? Could it be there are 2 German shepherds missing in same area? Please update as soon as possible and I can help some more tomorrow, if you would like me to? Hope there's good news tomorrow x
Sherlock
Hi just on here for a minute, sherlock has gone home and is going to see her tomorrow, but I am not so sure it is the right dog. I can't get hold of the lady that rang my number, she said she had a photo and she said she could email it but he didn't give her an email address it just does not sound like the same dog and Sherlock was upset after speaking as he is ill and has gone home to rest.I have been checking the details where she said she was found and it is not where we were talking about. I explained this was not the place she went into but she said it was her and talked about a house next door. I am not being ungrateful but I would like to get the photo emailed so he can look at it himself, as I did explain halo is not a skinny dog as the lady described,(the lady was very kind to ring) and now on checking all the details she gave me(I had to take the phone from Sherlock) I am not so sure it is sherlock's dog and the dog would not have been chasing or frightening horses either she is too timid, she would have run away, and she would not have been caught that easy. Unfortunately the lady's phone is off and its getting late now so I will try her tomorrow.Sherlock will ring the kennels tomorrow also. I don't mean to sound ungrateful but he also feels it could be the wrong dog. I have to come off here now and I am needed by my own children. I have been helping Sherlock with the dog as I am a canine psychologist.Last edited: 2012-12-23 22:13:18 by Sherlock

Great news :) Please update us with any details. So pleased you are reunited and hope she's ok. Pleased I could help with the postering for you, but even more pleased that the posters are no longer needed! Have a great Xmas x
Julie B
Omg - my heart sank for a moment when I couldnt see her on the Lost page. Was she at Hammerpond Kennels ? and more importantly is she okay ? I am so relieved ... god knows how you must feel Sherlock. Thank god for this happy ending ...I bet she was so pleased to see you. Have a wonderful Christmas Halo with your new family and stay safe gorgeous girl from now on xx
Sherlock
Thank you for posting all those poster, and for phoning us.We have walked right down to the Copsale downs link (we do not drive, or own a car)A friend was going to get some posters printed for me on Monday, thank you so much for getting some out right now, you have all been so much help.I will ring the kennels and the warden and let you know if there is anymore news and will be back out later tonight.
Julie B
The telephone number for the dog warden is 01403 215407. I hope this is still their number. Also did you ring Hammerpond kennels as this is where she would have been taken if found by anyone ? Also you probably already have - but if not - ring Farthings Hill vets, Arthur Lodge and Maltman Cosham vets. Hoping that we get some good news very soon xx
Julie B
I have been out all day and was hoping to see that Halo was back home. RottieRoo - what way do you think she would be heading ? Ive always lived in Horsham but my sense of direction is not very good. Hopefully, because she is frightened she will stay away from the main roads. Fingers crossed that she is seen again very soon and she will be back home where she belongs. I will spread again now on my facebook page x
RottieRoo
Just got back from looking for you. Have printed and laminated some posters. Covered Copsale Downs Link / car park. Also postered Buck Barn, petrol station/coop entrance, inside McDonalds and the McDonalds drive thru. Hopefully this will help to start spread the word and get Halo home. The lady that I spoke to is quite sure that she saw Halo on Friday evening, just as it was getting dark, go back up the link, in the direction of Partridge Green. I have spread the word around Partridge Green via Facebook, so let's hope someone sees her. Please update us if you get any calls or sightings and I will come and help look x
RottieRoo
Just had a report of a sighting at Copsale downs link car park on Friday about 5pm/dusk :) a local lady is sure she saw her run from the road up the link. Have postered link car park. Fingers crossed x Last edited: 2012-12-23 16:14:56 by RottieRoo

Hi Sherlock. I have driven round Copsale, Nuthurst and Maplehurst a few times in a 4x4 allowing me a good look over fields, but didn't see anything. No posters which is a shame as lots of people out. The more that know quickly the better. Is your hunch that she ran or was taken? I was intrigued that you said your garden was trashed...unusual for a burglary. Do you think that could have been them trying to catch Halo? Happy to help look and could put some posters up for you if you want me to? X
Sherlock
Thank you x

I am so sorry for you what an awful thing to have happened - I have asked our Sussex Horsewatch co-ordinator to e-mail Halo out to all members so they can keep a look out for her whilst out riding etc. With all good wishes to you that Halo is found safe and well very soon. Julie x
Sherlock
Thank you. A friend is getting some posters printed on Monday hopefully we don't have a printer. We have just got back now, with the other dog who has been keeping Halo company. We left at 11 and have been all down to Copsale walking all along the roads and around the inside of every field along the hedges, including where the police were looking. So far no signs but a scent of the dog she knows, and hopefully our scent over the past couple of days, has been left now all over that part of Copsale too. The dog scent should also be the other side as we have walked her there up until today. Will keep searching and get those posters up.
RottieRoo
Have you postered downs link at Copsale? Notice board where the link crosses the road, in car park. Also it could be a god idea to leaflet drop all houses around there. Most people will be home for Xmas and may just see something across the fields. Spread the word as quickly as you can. Make sure people have your number. Lots of eyes then looking for Halo and hopefully you'll get that call. Going your way now, so will be looking xxx
Sherlock
No she would not cross the road, she has never been out for a walk we have only just got her used to a lead but she is still very scared to go anywhere other than an area at the back of the house. We are Copsale side. I have been trying to find the number of the dog warden in case she gets picked up but can't find one also i doubt that anyone would be able to get near her. I can't see how the people who tried to burgle the house would even had caught her she must have just ran off in fear. No sign of her anywhere last night was out searching until about 11.30.
RottieRoo
Hope you get some good news today. I was just wondering, are you Southwater side of A24 or Copsale side? Is she nervous of traffic? Do you think she would cross A24? Any particular areas that you walked her, that she may head towards? i will drive round that way soon and have a look for her xxx

Yes the house was broke into, heard people talking quietly, one dog jumping around going mad downstairs, one fast asleep upstairs, came down to find back door ripped open, locks broken, back gates broken and hanging off, garden trashed, dog print all up front door obviously trying to get in the front and skid dog marks and foot prints on top. Halo and the other dogs would not have done this Halo either ran off in fright cause unless they threw something over her and jumped on top they would not catch her or they managed to get her. Just off right now in a friends car to have a quick search again. Thank you everyone. Have also put nice hot smelly food out too, bbq. Last edited: 2012-12-22 23:52:24 by Sherlock
RottieRoo
Hi All. Sorry, just got in! Where I saw the police last night was on A24, going south from Horsham to Worthing. Between Hop Oast and Southwater they flew past with blue lights on. They then turned them off. Continuing south, a few hundred metres after the roundabout, they had stopped on the left side of road, before the sharp bends, before left hand turning to Copsale. They had stopped in the road, lights flashing and were crouched down low to the floor, shining their torches into the hedgerow. We obviously slowed down to go past and thought it was very strange....couldn't see a vehicle, but it was dark! Not really sure what they were doing, but don't think it would be connected to earlier accident...wouldn't be the need for blue lights. I hope it's nothing to do with 'Halo', but if they had a report of a dog on A24, they may have made the effort to get there fast? It's just an avenue that maybe you should explore. If it was a car going the wrong way up the A24, why were they crouched down shining lights into bushes!!! Anyway, I hope she's home soon...a poster early tomorrow on the Downs Link at Copsale might be a good idea...bike riders, horse riders and dog walkers could cover a lot of ground for you. Try and print some small flyers to give to everyone you see so they can carry your contact details with them. Keep us updated, and I will have a drive round that way tomorrow. Fingers crossed x
Julie B
She is gorgeous - she looks like she is smiling in that picture. What makes you think she may have been stolen ... was the house broken into ? xLast edited: 2012-12-22 22:36:37 by Julie B

Ok done now, you can see how she is happier in the newest photo this was taken the other dayLast edited: 2012-12-22 22:09:23 by Sherlock
Sherlock
Have a better photo but don't know how to put it on here
Julie B
That is a shame ... putting a big poster at the Hop Oast garage and the McDonalds at Buckbarn would be a good idea ... as hopefully she is still in that area x
Sherlock
Nothing to do with Halo though it was a car going the wrong way up the A24

There was a pile up also yesterday afternoon right there
Sherlock
Yes for sure. Its going towards Worthing away from Horsham.
Julie B
I will keep spreading the word via facebook and hopefully she will be safely back home with you before too long. But please call the police and check out what the police were doing on the A24 late last night. Please keep us updated x
Sherlock
She is not exactly a rescue but one that for some reason was afraid of people, not badly treated or anything, but she has come on leaps and bounds over the past few weeks.
Julie B
RottieRoo .. I am terrible with directions, would that be heading towards or away from Horsham ? If the police were crouching down looking into hedges with a torch it could be that maybe someone saw Halo and reported it - so I agree definately worth contacting police and also asking about this incident. x Last edited: 2012-12-22 19:12:05 by Julie B
Sherlock
Thank you will do. Its between the southwater roundabout and buckbarn part of A24
RottieRoo
Have shared via Facebook. Have you contacted the Police? I'm sure it was probably to do with human activity, but there were police on the A24 last night, about midnight, crouched down looking through hedges with torches! Between Southwater and Buck Barn, going South. Print some leaflets/posters asap and spread the word. Will keep looking when I'm round that way and really hope that she gets home safe. Keep us updated xLast edited: 2012-12-22 17:29:17 by RottieRoo
Julie B
Would you be able to update with details of which end of Southwater asap as people on the Horsham facebook page are asking so that they can keep an eye out when they are walking their dogs. Thanks x
Julie B
Bless her heart. If she is so fightened of people and what with the awful weather, hopefully she will not have travelled to far away and is curled up somewhere. Have you thought about maybe lighting a bbq outside your house this evening with some really smelly food to try and tempt her back in if she is still local ? Especially if she has wandered off and lost her bearings this may help her. Which end of Southwater are you ... Hop Oast ? Is she a rescue dog ? x
Sherlock
Thank you. I have been out constantly searching the fields and lanes around here with her favourite treats in my pocket, and have been leaving the gates and doors open all night sleeping downstairs in case she comes back, but she has only been here a few weeks as we are trying to rehabilitate her to family life as she is scared of people. She has only just started taking treats from our hands and walking over to us in the house. She was to be microchipped in the next couple of weeks.Apart from the A 24 there is only a house very one or two fields apart around here.
Julie B
I have posted this on the Horsham facebook page for you - so hopefully someone may have seen her and will let you know. x
Julie B
Iam in Horsham and will spread the word. You should contact Hammerpond Kennels on 01403 891825 as this is where local stray dogs are taken. You probably have already - but if not contact the vets in the area. I hope she stays safe and is found soon as that is a very busy road. x
