I have just seen the previous message. Floss was not taken to a pound, but was picked up by a Christmas holidaymaker from Sheffield who was "afraid of what might happen to her if handed in".
Unknown
Great news, but it does show just how far you have to look to find a dog that's been sent to a 'pound.'
Goldenfrodo
Fantastic news. Thank you so much to everybody who helped look for this gorgeous girl.
Welcome home Floss. Stay very safe now xx

I am absolutely overjoyed to see that Floss has finally been reunited! What an adventure she must have had! So happy for you that she's home. I will remove her 'Lost' posters from around Menai Bridge tomorrow. Welcome home Floss!!!
J Baker
Three cheers! Floss has returned home. She had been rescued in Bangor (Holyhead Road) on Boxing Day and taken to Sheffield via Moelfre. We recovered her today (5th January); she has been well cared for and is in good condition. Many thanks to everybody who assisted in some way with the search.

It might be worth putting up plenty of posters from the Antelope into Bangor, just incase Floss is in that area. The comment below from Facebook said there was a sighting of Floss by the Uni, just past the Antelope, and there are plenty of fields and wooded areas between here and Bangor where a dog could hide and find shelter. There is a homeless gentleman in the Bangor High Street are with a black and white dog, which could have been the dog sighted by the Cathedral. If Floss is in tha area, it would be worth visiting the homeless shelters (One by Aldi, one by Morrisons) and asking around there,as they would be more likely to notice a stray dog. A poster in the homeless shelters would be a good idea.
J Baker
A Bangor searcher was told yesterday evening that a dog resembling Floss, with a white front, had been seen in the Cathedral grounds a little earlier, but a search yielded no sign or further information. Floss's former fosterer left her outer door open during the evening, in case Floss was trying to reach her, but Floss did not appear.

Thanks, Mel. This is consistent with what I have been told, and what led me to phone you earlier.

MR BAKER - I do not have any credit on my mobile to contact you, so I'm hoping you see this message. A girl has seen a poster of Floss on Facebook, and has posted the following comment: ' Dis looks exactly like da dog we saw near da university b4 u get 2 da antelope but it was on boxing day, we we're in da car :s I rli hope u find her, ino sum woman was tryin 2 get the dog in her car but it seemed scared, so I dnt no if it was ur dog ort not :s xx'

Again, thank you for your efforts. I have spoken to the farmer in Gaerwen who lost a sheepdog on Christmas Eve and recovered it yesterday, but he had received only one report of another similar dog (near Dwyran), which was mainly brown.
MelAndTommy
Have done two further searches in various parts of Menai Bridge today. I spent 3 hours in the street where there have been sightings of Floss, and I did see one collie being walked through the street, but it was definitely not Floss. I go back to work tomorrow, so the time I can spend searching will be limited to eary mornings and late evenings. I will print posters tomorrow and distribute them tomorrow evening. If there is still no joy in finding Floss by Friday evening, I will try and print a load of leaflets off and go door to door with them over the weekend. Fingers crossed she gets found safe and well soon.x
MelAndTommy
Have done a search around the streets and footpaths at the top of Menai Bridge this morning. No sightings. Will continue searching.x
J Baker
Thanks for continuing efforts. I can deliver [or email] additional posters.

She has now been missing for 1 week, so it is quite possible that she has moved out of the area. [A neighbour's collie was found in Pentraeth after missing for 4 days; a Gaerwen sheepdog on this web-site was recovered in Llanfairpwll after 7 days.]Last edited: 2013-01-01 17:35:06 by J Baker

just back, put posters by coed cyrnol, lots of interest while I was doing that and then down the road from ysgol david hughes various lamp posts. Also put some posters in LlanfairPG just up from the flyover, I put 2 in the viewing layby`s between menai bridge and llanfairpg but ran out then. If we could get more up there that would be great. I have put up 20 posters in the areas, but needs more. No sightings looking down from the laybys to the straits, coed cyrnol or anywhere else. Stopped a few dog walkers and gave them posters too. she must be moving around the area though and people just don`t know shes a lost dog yet. Sandy PickLast edited: 2012-12-31 15:42:45 by SandyJohn

Have done a search this morning around the football field and surrounding woods behind the police station. No sightings. Wil be going to the street where there was a reported sighting yestrday later on, to see if there are any further sightings there.
SandyJohn
I am going out shortly to put up posters and have a search around, will update upon my return Sandy Pick Last edited: 2012-12-31 15:39:49 by SandyJohn

Have done a search round the rugby club, coed cyrnol, and through the streets near where Floss originaly went missing. Have followed up on a reported sighting of Floss today, and can confirm that there are 3 similar looking collies, one young and two old, that live in that area, and are walked regularly through the street where there was a reported sighting. There is a helper in that street who is keeping an eye out on dogs being walked there. Will continue searching.
MelAndTommy
Have been round Ysgol Y Borth and surrounding fields this morning, have checked walkways behind peoples houses, just incase Floss has taken shelter somewhere like that. Have also been round the streets at the top of Menai Bridge, but no sightings as yet. Will continue searching later today.
MelAndTommy
No sightings of Floss on my evening walk with my dog. Continuing to ask passers by if they might have seen her. Will take a different route with my dog in the morning, and keep searching. Hoping she's found safe and well soon.x

Reports of a [very white with black patches] dog wandering in the Victoria Hotel area of Llanberis have been followed up; the dog was seen and is not Floss. Likewise, regarding a collie wandering in streets on the eastern side of the suspension bridge.Last edited: 2012-12-29 17:44:41 by J Baker

Many thanks for all your continuing efforts; they really are appreciated. There has been a belatedly reported sighting of an "identical-looking dog" being walked on a rope; checking is difficult, the wider search continues.
J Baker
We have searched the whole of Menai Bridge, including peripheral footpaths - some parts, several times. Posters now going up in most towns and villages on the south-easterly side of Llanfairpwll/Red Wharf Bay line.
J Baker
Vets in Menai Bridge, Treborth and Caernarfon have been notified and have posters for display. Freshfields Animal Rescue has a notice on its homepage, has contacted various agencies and has sought help from its supporters, etc. on Anglesey, and in the Caernarfon and Llanberis areas. [Floss was rescued in Llanberis.] Abergwyngregyn, Nant y Corn and Pen-yr-Orsedd kennels have all noted the details. Last edited: 2012-12-29 17:36:53 by J Baker

I have just done a thorough search of Ysgol David Hughes, the fields surrounding it and the reservoir area opposite Siop Newydd. No sightings.x
MelAndTommy
This morning I have checked the woods and public footpath leading from the cemetary, up past the cricket club. I have also checked the wooded path leading from Druid Road to the back of Tyddyn Mostyn, and also the fields at the back of my estate. No sightings at present. Five Fields would be a good area to check if anyone is in that area, as there are lots of places there where a dog could hide/find shelter? Have all vets in the area been notified incase someone has come across Floss and handed her in to them? Will keep searching.
J Baker
No further sightings since Christmas Day. Many thanks for your assistance and encouragement, which is greatly appreciated. Incidentally, one suggested sighting might have led to the reunion of another dog with his owner.
SandyJohn
I will go postering and leafleting tomorrow in the area. hope we find her- Sandy Pick xxLast edited: 2012-12-28 19:45:11 by SandyJohn

Any updates on Floss? I spent a good couple of hours today walking round Menai with my dog hoping to see her somewhere, but no sign. Stopped to ask people I passed if they had seen her about anywhere. Druid Road is near Five Fields, so it might be worth having a good look around that area for her if not done already? Also, as she was seen in Trem Eryri area Christmas day, she could have gone the opposite direction, so the woods by David Hughes school could be well worth searching, and also the fields behind Tyddn Mostyn, as they lead to the Druid Road area.x
Goldenfrodo
Thanks everybody for all your help. Hope Floss is found soon xx
MelAndTommy
Hi Jo, I don't have contact details for them.x

Posters shared all over Facebook, and passed on Floss's details to other dog owners in the Menai Bridge area. Have spoken to Floss's owners today about a possible sighting of Floss in the Trem Eryri area of Menqi Bridge late yesterday afternoon.x
