- Well done Teddysmum x
- 2013-02-08 11:51 DonnaB
- I would also just like to say well done to Teddysmum, we know you worked hard on this case (and others) and you are a credit to this site.
- 2013-02-08 10:28 Ellie
- Yes jobadger you are so right about Teddysmum. Teddysmum is another absolute WONDER WOMAN! Working hard for lots of furry animals through all our awful weather conditions, she's out there working tirelessly even though she has her own heartbreaks and problems! Where would we be without people like Teddysmum? Well done Teddysmum, you are an absolute STAR!!!
- 2013-02-08 10:14 jobadger
- Yep Kimmybear - and couldn't agree more Ellie! My concern remains for Teddysmum in all of this debacle! She works her backside off for missing dogs. Long may it continue xx
- 2013-02-08 09:49 Ellie
- Sorry, but just wanted to add that I have only known Shereen for one year but in that one year I have learned that Shereen thinks, lives and breaths dogs and most of her life is spent helping dogs wherever they may be whether in this country or another. She certainly wouldn't be saying that Scooby was safe if she wasn't. She works tirelessly for ALL dogs and their welfare and without her Doglost would be a lot worse off ! So if Shereen says that Scooby is safe then she most certainly is!!

- I wonder if I might butt in here too? Sometimes the stories that we hear with our missing dogs do go beyond "missing dog" bounds. If something is a bit vague it may be because it is not possible to share everything on a public forum. Sometimes this puts us in an awkward position, wanting to share but not wanting to expose personal lives. You and Shereen have all worked so hard and you succeeded in finding Scooby. I don't know any more on this case than what is below, but I feel sure that Carl will see Scooby again, after all Lucy was kind enough to let Carl look after her in the first place. There must be lots of things going on that none of us are privvy to as our role is to help reunite the dog, so its not our place. And Scooby has been reunited with the owner she is chipped to who had an agreement with Carl. As much as we may want Carl to have Scooby back, it may just not be possible now, but that is between Carl and Lucy. If Shereen says Scooby is fine, then I know she is because Shereen would make absolutely sure. What happens now, is not for us. As Jobadger said below, this may well be the turning point Carl needs. Scooby is found so this is where our assistance must end. Well done to everyone who searched, shared, helped and cared. Maybe one day we'll hear how they all get on, meantime let's be pleased that Carl has not lost Scooby forever. x

- I have archived the comments which were pinked - please remember that we can only work with the information supplied to us - Scooby is safe and has been returned to her legal owner via her microchip through the correct legal stray dog system, whatever arrangements Carl and Lucy come to for her care is private and between them I think we need to respect this at this moment in time and allow them to sort out her future care.

- Oh gosh I have been" pinked" as well...all I was saying is can we have some calm until a co-ordinator can monitor....as all are dealing with missing dogs at the moment....
- 2013-02-07 20:14 Jayne - Founder Doglost.
- Tx Jobadger....there were earlier posts on this thread that were suggesting something may be amiss...every comment has been monitored by Shereen...who spoke to all concerned with her calm understanding manner ..and indeed today established with the dog warden that Scooby is safe and well...

- I've just caught up with all of these comments. I'm very very pleased that Scooby is safe - perhaps this news will help Carl and his situation. I have to agree that I too have had very positive experiences with the homeless and their animals. Everyone has worked so hard to get this girl back home - we people posting on here don't know what's been going on in the background to get her back safely. As someone who's been doing rescue for some 30-odd years (not just with DL) I'm not at all surprised that she was found tied to railings. I think apologies are owed in certain quarters. I know from several recent experiences how economical people can be with the truth. It's not always easy to get a dog back to where it belongs. Very well done to all concerned. xx

- If this reunion makes Scooby happy, also her brother, and Lucy, then that`s all that matters. I dont think anyone was suggesting that homeless people dont look after their dogs. So pleased for you now you have her back. Stay safe now Scooby. Give her a big (HUG) from me:-)xxx
- 2013-02-07 12:24 Shereen
- I have just had 100% conformation this is true...(Straight from the dog wardens mouth) I suppose the last thing We can all write on this page will be a BIG thank you to ALL who have helped spread the word....(Especially as we are all volunteers)....the dog warden said he has only seen a dog so ecstatic to see their owner a couple of times in his career...
I hope Scooby enjoys being Reunited with her brother and Lucy what a relief for this lovely girl.Last edited: 2013-02-07 12:44:49 by Shereen - 2013-02-07 12:17 signthetruck
- Homeless people on the main look after their dogs just like people who have homes. Something here isnt right...people stole Carls dog, his companion they took money too according to the original story. Then suddenly the dog turns up in Dorset tied to some railings somewhere...has that been checked out with the wardens in Dorset??? if not why not??? The End is not the answer people need.
- 2013-02-05 21:13 millybeau
- Proof is what is needed that this dog has been found.!! Something very underhand has happened here by the looks of it!
- 2013-02-05 20:39 Unknown
- I am so pleased that Scooby has been found safe, and well. I do agree though with Ellie that dogs should be in a safe, and secure home; it`s just not safe these days for any dog to be on the street, albeit they have a caring, and loving owner. You have to think of the dog`s welfare, as well as the owner; Carl in this case who hopefully will soon get advice, and somewhere to live. stay safe now Scooby, and GOOD LUCK to Carl.
- 2013-02-05 20:15 bullt
- I am so happy to hear that Scooby has been found safely - I understood that indeed Scooby had been microchipped - a responsible undertaking by Carl's ex. It is sad for Carl but for the dog, it has to be better to go back to her old owner and have the company of her brother and a secure life. Hopefully Carl will receive the support he needs and feel able to take it to try and sort his life. Whoever the person or people were who stole Scooby from him have a lot to answer for. In his fragile state, the invasion of his space and theft of his companion, not to mention money etc was bound to tip him over the edge. Really, so sad. xLast edited: 2013-02-05 20:15:51 by bullt

- 2013-02-05 18:59 Ellie&4Collies
- I would also appreciate concrete proof from someone confirming that Scooby was collected in Dorset? If she is not chipped how was the owner found so quickly? Something just doesn't make sense. I really hope Scooby has been found

- Oh dear dinkydoodle...
- 2013-02-05 18:22 Observant Citizen
We are only taking teddysmums word that Scooby was found tied to railings in Dorset...
I found the wording on DogLost strange what teddysmum had written:
well everyone at dog lost scooby is found....she was tied to railings in dorset all friday until the warden rescued her.....she is now safe ...shereen i thank you for all of your help....you work tirelessly....and everyone who helped us....she wont be going back to carl....but to lucy in a house with a garden and her brother......the end
I text her earlier to ask if Scooby was ok and she said she has reported me to the police for hassassment!
Very strange...I have the text conversation on my phone and there is certainly no harassment issues!- 2013-02-05 18:18 dinkydoodle
- Agree with you Westie213
- 2013-02-05 17:54 Observant Citizen
- I feel very uneasy about this whole situation..we have no concrete proof that Scooby has in fact been found, and she certainly hasn't been reunited with her owner Carl. When Scooby first went missing teddysmum stated that and I quote from the info above:
Stolen from a homeless man...she will be going crazy without him...they have been together since she was a pup and she will be missing him terribly...maybe not eating!...they need to be reunited,PLEASE HELP!
Yet now, all of a sudden, Scooby was conveniently found attached to railings in Dorset and has not been reunited with Carl at all. Is there anyway that DogLost can check with the wardens in Dorset that Scooby was found attached to railings?
I find this story very hit and miss and will continue to support Carl in having Scooby returned to him. - 2013-02-05 16:45 ClaireC
- May I add that on talking to lots of homeless people who have dogs in and around London these people's pets are normally overseen by the RSPCA Vets and they are regularly checked over. I also have to say that the many dogs that I have ever seen are very well looked after and I agree don't take "treats" if they are offered them.
- 2013-02-05 16:41 Ottis1
- I too am so pleased that Scooby has been found safe.Sometimes people are very quick to judge and I feel sorry that it has not worked out the way Carl would have hoped.
- 2013-02-05 15:59 angi
- I am really pleased Scooby has been found and is now living with a lady he knows well and his brother. I believe every case should be taken on merit and agree there are so many people living in comfortable homes who neglect their dogs. My own experience of the homeless and their dogs in my area is a positive one. The dogs are clearly much loved and in very good condition. They sit in the duvet with their owner and I offer treats which they don't eat as they are not hungry. Most of these dogs could run away at any time as they rarely use a lead although the ones's I see have collars.I agree Carl is the one who needs help now if he is willing to accept it.I hope he is able to find it in himself to move forward in his life as his ex partner did xxx
- 2013-02-05 14:56 Puddies
- Glad scooby has been found. Whilst I agree that dog owners should be responsible I disagree that homeless people should not have dogs. These dogs are with their owners 24/7 unlike many that are left at home all day alone whilst people work with no provision made for company/letting out etc. The ones I see in Exeter are always are of good body weight, have coats on, infact most of the time I see them they are snuggled up in their duvets with a water bowl beside them. Having dogs is often the only form of love/empathy and companionship homeless people have, many peoples lives would be even more unbearable if they did not have their dogs. When I worked in practice the Dogs trust had a scheme that paid for vaccinations and emergency care for such cases, even microchipped the dogs. We had several brought in by their owners and these dogs were much loved. I wish Carl all the best for the future.Last edited: 2013-02-05 15:01:57 by Puddies

- I am so pleased that Scooby has been found and is now in a happy home with someone she knows and of course her brother. I have been following this case as it is fairly local to me but have not wanted to comment because quite frankly I have to say that I agree with charl7 to a point.People should not have dogs if they are not in a situation to be able to look after them properly. These dogs that are with homeless people are out in the elements through all weathers and it certainly is not a decent life! To add to this - who is going to pay the vet fees when these poor dogs need attention? Dog owners should be responsible people and from what I have read about Carl he is not responsible.I agree with AkitaTaz we should now be focusing on Carl. There is a lot of help in Oxford for people in Carls situation including a wonderful place called the Ley Community. One of the problems with people that are on drugs is that they sometimes don't want to help themselves and this is very sad. If Carl will except the help he will then have a chance to better himself and become a responsible citizen who could become a caring dog owner. As we on this site know only to well, dogs are wonderful, faithful companions. I even have a magnet on my fridge that says 'The more people that I meet, the more I love my dog'. This of course is tongue in cheek, but with these wonderful, faithful animals we need to be in a situation to give them something back, and sadly dark cold streets and pavements are not acceptable.Last edited: 2013-02-05 10:06:31 by Ellie

- I cant believe somebody is watching these updates and withholding information! Charl7 it is against the law to steal animals! If the people who have Scooby are so concerned for her welfare they should of reported it NOT waited until her owner slept and then stole her! Or are these people so righteous that they are above the law???? disgusting!!

- I am absolutely horrified to read that a certain individual (charl7) is withholding important information about Scooby's whereabouts. This horrendous situation has been going on long enough...your RELIABLE SOURCE should be ashamed of themselves and you also. Carl is a lovely man who's only wish is to have his friend returned. Maybe you should spend a night alone on the streets charl7-then report back, or use your reliable source to do so.

- 2013-01-25 19:08 Tenit
- charl7, If you have information that Scooby was taken by people, for whatever reason, than you are witholding evidence from the police. If in the past you had such concern about Scooby's treatment by her owner, than you should have contacted the RSPCA or another reputable authority in order for them to assess the situation. It is NOT acceptable to support the unlawful stealing of an animal and withold any valuable information you might have from the search. If Carl is really not giving her a proper quality of life, then that is something for the authorities to decide, not private vigilantes who steal another person's property and a living being. If Scooby would be happier elsewhere, then an animal shelter would only be too happy to support her rehoming. I urge you to reconsider your position, and work with the authorities so that this thief can see justice. Scooby should have her best chance at a happy life, whether that is with Carl or a new home - but it is certainly not in the hands of some misguided person who has broken the law and caused a lot of unnecessary pain.

- Hi, I have been looking at these postings since January when I heard about Scooby. I work in Oxford and have been talking to homeless people who have dogs for over two years (giving them dog food and this case a lead, which I never saw Scooby on)- Carl and Scooby being amongst the main ones. My concern is for the dogs. The last time I saw Scooby was in Oxford on 18th December. I have been informed by a reliable source that Scooby was taken by people who were concerned for her welfare and, I believe, rightly so. Please do not be so easily swayed by what you read - which will always have a bias and please do not urge another dog on this recipient. I was informed last night that he has indeed had another dog in the meantime, which he no longer has - what has happened to the dog I cannot tell you. Please think about the welfare of the dogs first. I keep my eyes and ears open for Scooby's whereabouts and am anxious too for any firm news.

- This is just so awfully sad - is there any news at all or sightings of Scooby ? There are so many people on Scooby's facebook page all looking, sharing and e-mailing surely she must soon be found. It is just heartbreaking that Carl is now drinking again brought on by the disgusting individual who stole Scooby. If there is anything you would specifically like doing please post on here and we will ensure it is done. - So sorry to see Scooby still not back where she belongs with Carl. I live a long way from Bournemouth but will also keep a watch on any websites I can.
I read on another page how the Neighbourhood Police Teams will sometimes circulate info about lost/stolen dogs. Apologies if this already done but there is a webpage "Bournemouth Central Safer Neighbourhood Team" where you can contact/email them and they have facebook and Twitter. I also noticed on their webpage info about a Night Shelter for Homeless called St. Paul's Direct Access Hostel,10 Saint Paul's Lane, Bournemouth BH8 8AJ

- I keep looking and hoping for some news on Scooby - she is so distinctive, it's hard to believe no one has noticed her turn up in their area. Stay safe girl until you can get back to Carl. x

- Will try and share with community groups in Bournemouth. Is this guy homeless or has he moved to a hostel or house ? If you don't want to post this information on here please message me via facebook. Everyone who has heard of Scooby is desperate to find her and reunite her with Carl. It is a situation that has touched many people's hearts - it is bad enough to have a dog lost or stolen when you are lucky enough to have a home but when you have no home I just can't imagine how awful it must be. I will also share with any rescues in the Bournemouth area just in case Scooby wanders and ends up in one. Julie x

- Hi LindaT...I also asked about CCTV footage but apparently nothing has turned up!
- 2013-01-11 11:47 LindaT
- Was there no CCTV footage available? Or have I missed this somewhere on another post? I do hope these two can be reunited very soon, and I hope Carl can hold things together for when he gets Scooby back, she will most definately need him as much as he needs her ... be strong Carl, what a rotten world we are living in when this can happen :-( I wonder if a reward would bring Scooby home?

- i have shared the advert for this dog on my facebook, someone on my list said to try the police as apparently theres a bloke down in london who has been stealing dogs for fighting , they have found 19 dead and more still alive and are asking ppl to contact the police, dont want to upset anyone here, but its worth checking in case she is there, she could be one of the ones they have saved trying to find its owner you never know. according to posts on facebook, the bloke they have caught for doing this have had garages full of dogs, weather its a rumor or truth i dont know, im miles away from london, but thought i best post here as it says to do on the ad just in case. any hope is better than no hope, hope she is back with poor carl soon bless him xxxLast edited: 2013-01-05 19:18:18 by tigerlee78

- 2013-01-05 12:51 Kelpie Welfare
- Hi, firstly I sincerely hope this dog is found and reunited with its owner. However this is certainly not a pure Kelpie, working or show, and from the picture, would doubt even a cross. Only making this point as if I were to find such a dog, I would not describe it as a Kelpie or KX, more likely a bull breed x or GSD x. Never see brindle colouring in kelpies. Hope that helps somehow and hope they're reunited soon.

- Thanks for the info bessamour, not a breed you see much of here and interested as there's a dog in rescue (definitely not scoobie) who looks just like her but they thought he was an English bull terrier cross
it does seem likely to be another homeless person, stealing the £38 and lead suggests that, but it could be he's sold her on, will ask some friends in Brighton if they can lookout and poster x Last edited: 2013-01-05 01:29:54 by emmalouise - 2013-01-04 22:51 Julie - Area Co-ordinator - Surrey & South London

- Hi Julie! Thank you for the comment you left earlier. It seems that there is a strong possiblity that Scooby is with another homeless person, who could now be in the Brighton area. Apparently, a man left for Brighton from a homeless hostel in Oxford, and Scooby was not sighted since. It would be fantastic if you could contact the Salvation Army etc...in the meantime I will contact Sussex police. Wouldn't it be lovely if we could reunite Scooby with her owner? :(

- She was stolen whilst her and her owner were sleeping in the Church porch way..some of her belongings were also taken...so we know its a theft...owner was approached a month or so ago asking if he would sell her ...he was offered alot of money for her..of course he refused..
- 2012-12-30 13:13 colliebird
- What were the circumstances of the theft? Was the dog with it's owner or was it left outside by itself? Even if the dog was wearing a collar, if the person is homeless there's no address. Does the owner have a mobile and number was on a tag?
