How tragic. I am so very sorry, and my thoughts are with the family at this very sad time. Way too young for the bridge, but run free, dear little Eric xxx

Fair enough. This the problem sometimes, even though the owner is vigilant, others dont alwaYS think do they? RIP Ericxxx

The garden was secure but the gate was found open, so we don't know what happened. As far as we can tell from the trail which Wispa followed, Eric simply saw his chance and went off exploring.

How sad, am so sorry that you have lost Eric; my thoughts are with his owners. Night, night sweet Eric, sleep tight, and play with all the other "Rainbow babies" at the bridge. One day you will be reunited with your family: sending them lots of ((((HUGS)))) for their tragic loss. RIP+ Eric. God Bless. A~~~Candle~~burns for Eric. PS In view of the many dogs that escape from gardens, and are involved in rta`s would in not be a good idea for the animal to be tied to something, and put on a long lead? My sister used to do this with her dog as she was THE escape artist if not secured.; This surely would stop some fatalities, and lots of broken hearts. Am not blaming the owners here, as I know these things can, and do happen. Just a thought.
rottie

We went out tracking Eric today together with helper Rotty. Nice fresh trail, which went straight out of village and that explains why no one saw him about. He appears to have done a big circuit, taking a left turn at each crossroads, going nearly all the way to Via Gellia but turning just before to head back over the hill to the village via the Peak Trail footpath and Middeton Top visitor centre. There has been a possible sighting today of 3 cyclists trying to catch a dog which was in a hedge, but it escaped.

The details above are for the owners friend. She has managed to get Eric on the local radio and she has checked the local holding kennels. He may have been picked up by someone in the village.
