- Hi Everyone, it's been a while since I posted an update:
Holly was assessed by the Dogs Trust's behaviourist and she said that she thought Holly would be better off in a home environment and with us - seeing as she trusts us. But there were some conditions along with that - namely not taking her out for a walk at all for 6 months to allow her to build a bond with us and then gradually introducing walks to her.
We'd noticed a lump on her muzzle when we'd had her back for a few days and they checked this at the dogs trust and found that the lump was an abscess - she had several damaged teeth and has now had them extracted - all her incisors, 3 canines and a premolar. But they agreed to let us adopt her and I picked her up yesterday!
She's still on antibiotics and painkillers and is on soft food until her stitches dissolve and her mouth feels a bit better but so far she's doing well.
She's still spending a lot of time in her basket but has approached me tentatively twice for a stroke and I've had a couple of tail wags so I'm hoping once she's settled in a bit we'll see more of this happening.
We have a long road ahead with her but I'm confident that she'll come out of her shell eventually.
Thanks again for your continued interest in her :) x - 2013-02-14 20:11 ClaireC
- Zooberoo, I would have thought that you have proved yourself to The Dog's Trust that you are very capable of owning this girl through your dedication of trying to catch this girl. I hope you succeed in giving her a forever home as I'm sure she probably trusts you a lot more now. I do hope that she's not confused again as to where she should be living!. Good luck and do let us all know.xxLast edited: 2013-02-15 19:01:37 by ClaireC

- 2013-02-11 19:02 liana
- The dog trust do a fantastic job, however I don't know the full story but you have said she has made progress over the last few days. Dogs need time and if your wanting to give her a forever home you would of thought the dog trust would of let you keep her??? Hope she settles down as she has been through a lot you have done a fantastic job zooberoo please keep us updated xx
- 2013-02-11 10:01 Zooberoo
- Thank you for the lovely comments over the weekend. She settled in with us really well and was more confident than she was before she went on her adventure. She was moving around the house a lot and approaching us with a wagging tail - both unheard of before she ran off.
It was a sad day yesterday, returning her to the dogs trust, I think she would have made great progress with us as it was clear she remembered us and Hank. But she still belongs to the Dogs Trust and it was their choice.
I'm going to keep in contact with them on her progress and I hope she'll be able to come back to us soon. x - 2013-02-10 20:28 Jenni S
- Is it possible please that anyone could put Ray in touch with the owner of Rico - 46392 - lost in Bramcote, very close to Wollaton. Tel. 07805 578905. Unfortunately, I do not know this gentleman, nor do I have any contact details, but do feel that he may be able to help in this instance too.

- Is there a chance that she could have a forever home with zooberoo???
- 2013-02-09 23:25 Jenni S
- Been away, but what splendid news to return to. Am so pleased Holly is now safe and do hope Zooberoo that she is eventually returned to you, after all your dogged (sorry!!) determination to find her. Very best of luck to you both.

- So pleased she has been caught, and that she finds her forever home soon. Perhaps she wanted "Time out" first before she settles down in her new home.
- 2013-02-09 12:22 liana

- It's so lovely to see all these happy messages! It was great to come down this morning and see that she was back and it wasn't a dream. She even came out of her basket wagging her tail (not normal behaviour from her) this morning so I think she's glad to be safe and warm.
I called Ray at the start of the week and we was ready to come straight up to try and get her. With the permission of the staff on the park, Ray set up a trap close to our feeding station and waited. She didn't turn up during the day and the council staff agreed to let us leave the trap overnight with the door off, wonderful Bex had lent us a motion sensor wildlife camera and this caught her sniffinf around the trap and eventually going in to grab the food.
Ray came up again and this time set the trap and luckily for us she decided to cooperate. When we got to the trap (she was lying down and looking up at us, good as gold.
She's had a good sleep and some breakfast. Then nicked Hank's bed (he looked a bit disgruntled!) But they're both now twitching in their sleep.
I've spoken to the Dogs Trust and we'll take her back to them over the weekend.
xx - 2013-02-08 10:14 Nickhoneys

- What can I say? Ray truely is a superstar! But then so are all of you, you all offered advice and help when we were feeling so lost and helpless and kept us positive throughout.
It's been a long and emotional day and I'll update fully tomorrow after some sleep.
She's looking remarkably clean and healthy and is currently curled up in her basket having some much needed sleep after some food and a snack of liver paste!
I didn't know about this site until she escaped us and what a god send it truely is. I will be forever grateful to this site, those who run it, the volunteers and everyone who watches and helps.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
More tomorrow xx - 2013-02-07 23:25 WendyJ

- We're getting closer to catching her. She's being a little minx and giving us the run around but I'm confidant we'll get her safe and sound soon.
Thanks everyone for your continued thoughts, support and crossed fingers! x - 2013-02-06 20:14 Jenni S
- It's good to know Holly is still in the area - and safe. Surely it can only be a matter of a very short time before she is caught. Fingers xd for her and Zooberoo.
- 2013-02-06 00:45 MichelleJM
- The golfers tend to just watch her, or even ignore her. It looks like they are used to her being there. She doesn't bother them and is not scared to pass by them. In fact, she's not worried about passing by me and my dogs either. She seems to have her own little routine sorted out.
- 2013-02-05 20:44 ClaireC
- Hi just a thought re the golf course. Have you put a poster up there or spoken to the secretary about her? If she is frequenting the golf course then it might be that the golfers will shake their clubs at her or shout for fear of her "stealing" their golf balls! This could make her frightened. By alerting the Members they might be persuaded to encourage her instead. Just a thought.
- 2013-02-05 19:59 ClaireC
- If only she would stand still! Time's up girlie and now home pleeeeease. Seriously though its good she's been seen so she is obviously comfortable in the area and will probably hang around. Patience is such a virtue. I am away for a week but will check to see her go into the Blue soon. Keep your spirits up as well.xx
- 2013-02-05 12:03 Zooberoo
- She was sighted yesterday morning at about 8.30am near the lake on Wollaton Park and then at 9am on the golf course.
She's definately still about. - 2013-02-02 21:25 Zooberoo
- Michelle - it's a possibility but when she's been down there on other occasions there have been lots of reports. Of course she could be going in the middle of the night. I'll mention the CCTV to them, thanks for the idea!
- 2013-02-02 18:19 MichelleJM
- I wonder if she is going to Bramcote Lane more regularly than we think, there are food dumps there, eg behind the supermarket, fish shop, cheesecake shop etc. The day when she was seen there a few days ago was the first warm day we have had for a while so perhaps she was warm enough to leave wherever she is sleeping. Maybe the CPO could check with the CCTV guys? At least that's something for him to do?
- 2013-02-01 20:18 Jenni S
- Really good news. Am glad she's looking healthy. Hopefully it won't be long now.

- 2013-02-01 10:06 Jayne - Founder Doglost.
- Thats normal...she does not recognize you by sight its sound and smell ...which is why its so important not to raise your voice and just gently call her name...also thats why it is essential to scent the area for her.
- 2013-02-01 10:06 Belle
- Delighted to hear this. Hang in there Zooberoo!
- 2013-02-01 10:01 Zooberoo
- I was taking food down this morning about 9am and I saw her! She was running down the golf course towards me (though I was on the other side of the fence), she stopped at the fence to the spinney between the golf course and the school and looked over at me- I was rattling the food I had - and then went through the fence into the spinney.
I'm sad that she again wouldn't come near me but I'm glad she's again back over in her usual place and she still looks healthy. - 2013-01-30 22:36 Jenni S
- Zooberoo, please try to keep spirits up. This is an awful situation, I know, but you have everything covered and hopefully Holly should soon be found.
- 2013-01-30 19:51 Penny
- omg that is so bad whats the point off phoning them when they don't help so frustrating for you
- 2013-01-30 13:39 Zooberoo
- Just had another sighting on the Parkside of the park in the woodland.
Called the SCPO and left a message and then called the dog wardens and told them that she was in sight of a member of the public and the woman on the phone said "so....what do you want me to do about it?" I asked if a dog warden to go down and she told me that there had been reports this morning and they'd been down but couldn't catch her so thats that.
I asked if she was just going to stay out there indefinately then and this woman said "well she's been out there since the 5th of Jan so she's oboviously ok"
It just beggars belief! - 2013-01-29 22:49 SCPO
- Hi all, can I ask that all sightings are reported us please - pass all information to us via 01159152020 or asbhelp@nottinghamcity.gov.uk for the attention of Senior CPO. Thanks. We have mobile officers who can search for her if we get sighting reported to us.
- 2013-01-29 15:15 MichelleJM
- Hi, it was me that rang you twice today to say I had seen her on Wollaton Park. Hope she's OK, maybe she's hungry and looking for food at the shops? In this weather they do burn off loads more calories, especially being outdoors.Last edited: 2013-01-29 15:16:29 by MichelleJM

- For some reason she's very active today. She was seen about 12pm on the park near her usual woodland and is currently on Bramcote Lane in Wollaton close to the shops, moving away from the park. She's very panicked so I'm hoping she doesn't get hurt and returns back to the usual area of the park!
I've called the person coordinating things and he said he'd send someone straight down there.
Not what I needed on my birthday :-(

- Shame on the paper - tho that's typical - but perhaps the advert will help. Do hope the matter of a trap is soon resolved for you. Fingers still xd for Holly.
- 2013-01-28 11:53 Zooberoo
- Claire - thanks for your messages and suggestions, an article about her appeared in a local free paper last week. I have spoken to our main local paper but they weren't interested in running an article. We did place an advert for three nights to try and raise awareness about her though.
Pixies Peeps - The dogs trust is working with the council, the RSPCA and me to try and find a solution that works.
I'm still of the opinion that the trap would be best and am fully confident in Ray Dedicoat's abilities after the glowing recommendations from speaking to him, this site and elsewhere on the internet!
I'm going to try my best to explain everything to the council about the trapping option and am currently seeking clarification from Natural England re: the badgers - 2013-01-27 17:53 pixies peeps
- As you are the foster for the Dogs Trust for this dog can they not add their weight to the fact that a trap under 24 hr watch needs to be used, or suggest other measures to make the council more helpful.
- 2013-01-27 10:17 ClaireC
- Local paper! Good luck and wish I was nearer to you. You are doing a fantastic job in a very diffcult situation and made even more so by appalling attitudes by some people. When you phone the Council get a name it always helps to name and shame and you may well be pleasantly surpised as to how helpful they may become.Last edited: 2013-01-27 15:00:04 by ClaireC

- Well I'm pretty sure she's getting the food I've been leaving in the park. I saw a one way line of dog tracks in the snow leading into that area yesterday morning.
Ray has rang me again and is shocked that the council won't allow trapping when he would be sat with the trap at all times.
I'll speak with the council again on Monday, if they'll let us then we might be able to bring this situation to a faster conclusion - 2013-01-25 16:35 ClaireC
- Show your Council up for not allowing assistance to try to trap this girl. This may make a difference to allowing a trap to be put in place. If it were me I would be speaking to the local paper and showing the Council's attitude. Hope this helps.
- 2013-01-25 07:29 Zooberoo
- Hi Claire, I have discussed it with the RSPCA but have been told that the council (who own the park) won't allow it under any circumstances.
- 2013-01-25 07:28 Zooberoo
- Hi Bex, that would be great! I'll arrange to get some food to you. My email is zooberoo@yahoo.co.uk.

- Hi Lucy. I'd be more than happy to put the food down for her in the afternoon during the week. Also I may be able to get my hands on some handy kit. What I thought can be done on the back of this is a bit long winded so do you have an email address I can send it to?
- 2013-01-24 11:35 Zooberoo
- Thanks All :)
I spoke to a CPO last night who is the person coordinating her capture and explained what we've done up to now. They are now aware that I'm putting food out in the wooded area each morning so I'm assuming this will get to the park eventually. The Dogs Trust have offered to provide some food to keep this going which is lovely.
Claire - The area I'm putting food each morning is in a similar area but is closer to where I saw her on Saturday and last Wednesday.
She was very close to this area yesterday morning and it was just after I'd left the food so hopefully she got it.
This morning I could hear a lot of rustling in the surrounding bushes when I left the food so I hope she was watching and waiting. (I've been leaving food since Saturday so I hope she's worked it out by now)
Unfortunately I can't leave food in the same place in the afternoon due to the park gates being locked at 4.30pm - I can't get home from work early enough at the moment (roll on spring!) I'm glad the weather is going to warm up over the weekend though, it should make things a little easier for her.
Trapping is not an option due to the badger sett - I'm in the process of reading the Badger Act to see exactly what it says in there. It's frustrating that all the viable options have serious cons right now.
I hate that this seems to be the long game because I can't and won't rest until she's safe, warm and well fed again. - 2013-01-24 09:45 Penny
- Had a walk round this morning no sightings :-(
- 2013-01-23 18:39 SaffySP
- Hi Claire, we wanted to tray trapping over a week ago as we think she's taking food at another location, but the council won't allow that as there is apparently a badger sett nearby (even though the badgers are currently tucked up in bed)
- 2013-01-23 18:32 ClaireC
- Wherever the lady who saw her today can you pinpoint the location and put food down there regularly for a few days and then with possible trap after a few more days. At least she will become confident of knowing that's where food is and may just be tempted to get into a trap as well.
- 2013-01-23 18:00 Bex
- I agree regarding digging around for her in the woodland. I've not been back in there for that reason since we saw you on Sunday but I keep an eye out when I'm in the area. Do they (the council or park warden) know you're putting food down there for her?
- 2013-01-23 16:42 Jenni S
- Zooberoo, I really feel for you, it must be so distressing, but you are doing all you can. I will keep looking whenever I can get over that way, snow permitting. I hope and pray Holly is found soon.
- 2013-01-23 16:37 Zooberoo
- Just spoken to the lady who saw her this morning. Shes looking thin but otherwise ok. She was hunting around for food and was eating deer poo so she may be getting desperate for food and quite hungry.
- 2013-01-23 16:03 Zooberoo
- Hi Everyone. Just had a chat with the Dogs Trust. The Dog wardens aren't taking action right now because on their systems they haven't had a confirmed sighting of her since last wednesday. I've asked that they get the person coordinating this to call me so that I can share the sightings I've had from members of the public who've seen posters.
In the meantime, I'm taking food to her each morning to the area she's been seen in, she feels safe in there and I'd really like her to keep thinking this. But the DT and me feel that if lots of people start routing through this area, she may move on. I really want her caught as soon as possible and knowing where she's living is a big step towards this.
Everyone here has been so helpful and please keep looking for her when you're on the park or in the area but for now it's best if we don't start rumaging through the undergrowth for her. - 2013-01-23 15:52 Penny
- Well if you can get lots off people this weekend to go down let me no and I will come and help xx keep smiling at least there are sightings off her and you no she is ok am glad there is lots of people out there looking for her xx

- Hi Penny, thanks. My number is above (I think half of Nottingham must have it by now!) the best time to spot her seems to be in the mornings between 7.30am and 10am.
Sadly I have limited time at these times as I have to get to work but I am making time to go down to the park and take her some food.
She isn't carrying much body fat and I'm getting increasingly concerned about her the longer she's out there.
Hopefully we can catch each other though, I'll let you know tomorrow - 2013-01-23 13:49 Penny

- It's the woodland near the Harrow Road gate (over towards the golf course) There's a field behind the houses on Harrow Road and the woodland is there which thick rhododendrons which is what she's hiding in.
- 2013-01-23 11:47 Penny
- Aww well am going down there now with the little one and taking her sledge when you go in the main gate is it the woods on the left ?
- 2013-01-23 11:42 Zooberoo
- Thank you Penny, I was there just before then and I missed her too.
Luckily she seems to be sticking to a particular part of the park, the side we walked her in daily (the side she knows) - 2013-01-23 11:33 Penny
- Omg cant believe I was down there then I did not see her I don't think there is many posters around and am up for trying to catch her zooberoo the park is so big to be looking around your self

- I called the council yesterday on the number SPCO left below, this was the antisocial behaviour line and they had no knowledge of what I was talking about. I was eventually passed to the dog warden service who didn't know of any coordinated plan to try and catch Holly. I was eventually called back by someone who informed me that the council weren't dealing with it, the police were.
I can't get hold of the person I need at the police. It seems Holly is becoming a victim of bureaucracy. I'm going to do my best to get some answers today. Failing that I think a group of people and some dog catching kit might be the way to go and we just do it ourselves. I can't function properly at work or at home knowing she's out in the cold and alone and hungry. - 2013-01-22 16:45 Penny
- It would be a good idea to get as many people to come to the park and have a good luck can't this be arranged in any way ?

- This is so frustrating. As far as I'm aware, no one has yet contacted Zooberoo for all the information she has about sightings etc. And in the meantime poor Holly is still out in the cold. Can somebody please let us know what's happening?
- 2013-01-22 11:19 Zooberoo
- Penny - As far as I know she's still on the park. I'm still getting calls about sightings of her in the area.
Cinders - thanks, they do look very similar but the dates don't match and Holly's muzzle is blacker. - 2013-01-22 10:42 Cinders

- Aww I have been looking on Facebook everyday to see if you have found her she is not my dog but can't help thinking about her I keep looking out for her but not seen her hope she is found soon its so cold out there is she still on the park ?
- 2013-01-21 14:52 Zooberoo
- I spoke to the Dogs Trust this morning. They informed me that the current plan is to collect together all sightings and times to build a picture of her movements.
Once these are established then the plan would be to try and flush her out of the undergrowth into the open so that she can be darted with the hope that the tranquilliser takes effect before she can get to cover.
The Dogs Trust have said they will be taking her back to assess her mental state as well as her physical state so whatever happens, she won't be coming back to us for the foreseeable future. We're devastated but it's what's best for Holly. - 2013-01-20 00:06 Jenni S
- I totally agree with Sue. Holly's welfare is paramount. Zooberoo has, and is, doing everything possible to find her. Sorry I've not been able to help much over last couple of days due to the snow. Good luck Holly and Zooberoo - fingers xd for your safe return home very soon.
- 2013-01-19 20:15 Zooberoo
- An article on holly is on page 11 of the Nottingham Topper. My copy arrived today. Hopefully I'll get more sightings from that
- 2013-01-19 07:02 B30
- People have put an huge amount of work in to try to catch Holly and events in the week have left emotions running high. Those involved are understandably concerned about not causing her further stress as this will not help the situation.
SCPO as Zooberoo has said, you need to speak to her directly as she has kept a detailed record of everything and people are contacting her with sightings. She has also been in contact with someone who has years of experience in catching feral dogs, perhaps if you are now involved you should also speak to them for advice because as you will be aware from what happened in the week the way it's handled is cruicial.
I hope that people can work together on this, put Holly's welfare first and foremost and take sensible measures to get her out of this situation and back to safety. Last edited: 2013-01-19 07:07:38 by B30 - 2013-01-18 23:27 SaffySP

- SCPO - I think you need to speak to Lucy Palmer who has been fostering Holly until she slipped her collar in Wollaton Park. She has been the one organising all the searching, posters, taking all the calls of sightings, and trying to muster volunteers to help: it would probably be helpful if you messaged her or rang her direct to liaise with her. best of luck helping find her, perhaps this snow will make things easier in some ways, though of course worse in others. I'm sorry I've not been able to help look today, and probably not over the weekend either.Last edited: 2013-01-18 23:24:19 by Chris

- Can I please ask why the ASB team are dealing with this? She's a frightened dog, not a public nuisance! Why are the RSPCA or Dogs Trust not co-ordinating?
- 2013-01-18 22:57 SCPO
- HELLO ALL, I am going to be coordinating this on behalf of NCC. We need to get all the information we can - sightings, times, is she being feed anywhere? - Please pass all information to us via 01159152020 or asbhelp@nottinghamcity.gov.uk for the attention of Senior CPO. Thanks
- 2013-01-18 11:32 HennyPen
- I so hope that she is caught very soon. At this stage I think any method of capture is worth a go. xxx
- 2013-01-18 10:54 ClaireC
- That could be a wrong idea to try and sedate as unfortunately another animal can take the food as well. Not a wise thought and I personally feel a very foolish one.

- I can't get over how nice people are either and how many people are willing to go out of their way to help us find her. I can't tell you how much this site has kept me sane over the last couple of weeks - aside from the help, just knowing that people are worried about her and are offering thoughts and advice has helped in ways I can't explain.
So thank you to Dog Lost, everyone who comes here, anyone who's called me to say they've seen her and anyone who's gone out into the cold to look for her! x - 2013-01-18 09:40 Zooberoo
- Thanks Bex. I'm relieved too. The food I'd put out last night had gone too so I hope it was her. I'm just dreading what they're going to decide at this meeting this morning. I think they'll try and sedate her but if they mess it up and lose her she won't last very long in this weather :(Last edited: 2013-01-18 23:28:36 by Zooberoo

- That's brilliant! What a relief to know she's still in the area. I'll head to the park again today with my eyes peeled. A friend of ours has offered to be of help if she can. She runs a dog school in Tollerton where we took Missy. I have an idea I would have to run by her and come back to you with. I'm away this weekend but the park workers all have their eyes open looking for her and I see other people are looking down wollaton rd and parkside. Made up that she's been spotted again!
- 2013-01-18 08:00 Zooberoo
- Another sighting of her at about 2.30am this morning on Sutton passeys crescent close to the park gate. The man called her name as he'd seen the posters and she turned round before running off again.

- 2013-01-17 12:39 Chris
- dog only footprints down middle of Harrow Road sound like her (Bex, last night). Sure she'll be keeping low profile. I'll be back to driving around that way on my strange hours to and from work and vets today and tomorrow, but they're not very likely times (afternoon and late night/early hours of morning). Hope the sightings start coming back in again so you're getting an idea if she's staying in the same areas still or if she's moved along at all.
- 2013-01-17 09:44 Owl
- Glad to see Ray is now advising you, his experience of catching dogs on the run is immense.
- 2013-01-17 09:29 Zooberoo
- No food taken last night. I'll wait and see what the RSPCA inspector says when he rings me back today. Ray Dedicoat is ringing me back too once he's had a look at a map of the area.
Sat on Sutton Passeys this morning but saw no sign :(Last edited: 2013-01-18 23:29:55 by Zooberoo - 2013-01-17 06:44 Zooberoo
- Saw no sign last night either, she'll have burnt a lot of energy yesterday though and will probably be conserving what she has left. If she had found a dead deer then that would explain why bins in the area have been left alone but now that's gone she may start coming out more fir food.
I can't get out of work today, I have meetings all day unfortunately. But ill have my phone so call anyway as steve may be able to come out. I'm not sure she'll come to us after yesterday :-(Last edited: 2013-01-17 07:32:18 by Zooberoo - 2013-01-16 23:38 Bex
- Sorry, I'm typing this on my phone and I'm obviously not qualified for the job! As I was saying, more commotion needs to be avoided to ensure she stays local to that area but it'll take a lot of waiting for her to come out and get close enough. Will you be able to get out of work again if I see her? I really hope you can get the pole you mentioned!
- 2013-01-16 23:32 Bex
- No sight of her in Wollaton road/Hirst Crescent area again tonight. Some paw prints down the middle of the road near the harrow road gate though. It is understandable that she'll be lying low after everything today. I'll go back to the park tomorrow morning. I'll call if I spot her again but I won't chase after her (or let anyone else for that matter). I think if she's stayed in that area your best bet would be to post up on your own and wait for her to come out. More commotion
- 2013-01-16 23:04 Jenni S
- How worrying for you Zooberoo. Tho as Holly has stayed in the park so far, hopefully she'll continue to do so. I will still look out for her whenever I can get over that way. Hope and pray she's soon back home, safe and sound.
- 2013-01-16 20:44 Zooberoo
- If she stays in the park. She may not view it as a safe place to be any more and move on. I hope she stays put.
I've been to my two feeding stations tonight but neither needed filling :-( - 2013-01-16 17:48 Bex
- Sounds like they're seeing sense. I suppose the difference here is that darting her would knock her out whereas a measured sedative can just slow her down enough to make it possible to catch her but not put her in danger of falling unconscious and not being found in time. If they can get this approved then it could be just the thing that gets her home! Everything crossed.
- 2013-01-16 15:34 SaffySP
- What a frustrating day for you :( Is it best to speak to Sue, the Central co-ordinator?
- 2013-01-16 15:26 Zooberoo
- Apparently, the dog warden has been talking to the RSPCA inspector about coming up with a strategy to catch her (this is second hand info from the head ranger at the park) something about baiting food with a sedative - I'm not sure why they can do this when the dog warden said earlier that she couldn't dart Holly because she wasn't in an enclosed space - but because the area she's in has a badger sett nearby, they'll have to get permission from Natural England.
It's turning into a nightmare.
My poor frightened Holly :( - 2013-01-16 15:12 Zooberoo
- Such a frustrating morning/early afternoon!
Thanks to Bex's sighting I left work and went to the park. The park wardens and the dog warden were all there as was Bex and her beautiful Dobermann!
She'd been seen in the wooded area close to the Harrow Road gate, my boyfriend arrived as well with our other dog and we began clambering around the thick undergrowth looking for her.
I saw her a couple of times creeping around but couldn't get close. She eventually ran across the golf course to another spinney. The park wardens said she couldn't get out of this one because it had a high fence and only one way in or out but she managed to find another gap!
She headed off across the golf course again but doubled back to the first wooded area. I ran down there and saw her trotting through the trees - she's limping :( but not badly.
She then took off towards the main gate and then ran back and down lime tree ave. She ended up down a cul de sac in the roads around Sutton Passeys crescent and I thought we had her but as she tried to escape, one of the park rangers from the park tried to grab her but she managed to get away.
Last we saw of her she's was heading back into that woodland again but the behaviourist at the dogs trust advised leaving her for the time being because she'll be very upset and stressed right now (makes two of us)
I'm annoyed at the dog warden who had NO equipment with her at all - if she'd had one of those poles with a loop on the end we'd have got her back today.
Im also worried that the rangers found a recent deer skeleton, there's nothing to saw she's caught and killed a deer but they said if they see her chasing the deer they'll shoot her :'(Last edited: 2013-01-16 20:42:12 by Zooberoo - 2013-01-16 10:31 SaffySP
- Bex, well done, that's brilliant! I wonder if she'd been back to Lime Grove to look for more food. I work at the Uni, so if you see her again call or text me on 07530139208 and I should be able to get away. I can get there in about 15 minutes.

- I've added a food trap on Hirst Crescent but it's only been there since Sunday and none had been eaten yesterday when I went to it last night. A little had gone this morning, though I think it's cats as there were no dog tracks in the snow around the tub.
- 2013-01-15 15:03 Bex
- It's no problem at all! I'll head over tonight and tomorrow morning. If it comes to setting up another food trap this side of the park I can keep watch on it around these times but in the meantime I'll keep an eye on that area. I don't live on wollaton road but I'm close enough and don't mind keeping watch from my car. I know you can't be in two places at once and the sooner she's home the better!
- 2013-01-15 13:42 Zooberoo
- Bex that's so kind of you! She's been spotted early mornings between 7-9.30am and a couple of sightings in the evenings between 9.30-11.30pm
If you live near the main gate on Wollaton road, keeping an eye out for her around there would be really helpful as she was seen on Saturday night running along Wollaton Road and onto Hirst Crescent. She's also been seen turning from Wollaton Road onto Lamborne Drive.
If you can keep an eye out at that end on Wollaton Road, we can concentrate on the other end/Harrow Road and Lime tree Ave
Obviously I'm not expecting you to make special trips out there but if you're around those areas and can check around those sort of times, that would be great! Please don't put yourself out though - I know they're antisocial hours.
Thank you so much! - 2013-01-15 12:16 SaffySP

- If you need any help watching over specific areas for her I'd like to help. My girlfriend was one of the people that saw her near Bramcote lane last week. As you mentioned, Holly is so timid that, regardless of her best efforts, my partner couldn't have caught her. She saw her go into the park through the exit gate on wollaton road. I searched the entire park with my dog but didn't see her. I also went looking around the perimeter of the park very late last night in the hope of seeing her but had no luck. I'm free day and night if you need someone to monitor an a specific area etc. Really hope she is home safe and sound very soon!

- I spoke with Zooberoo last night. I can get hold of a trap, but we aren't ready for it yet as Queenie/Holly is not yet eating in any regular place. Food has been put out for her but we haven't got a regular pattern set up yet. It is difficult as she is probably scavenging all over the place.
- 2013-01-14 14:23 pixies peeps
- Sounds as if you may need to set up feeding station and then a trap. Has the local dogwarden or the dogs trust/other rescues in the area got one they could help you to set up.Mind you the trap would have to monitored 24hours a day as trap with or without dog could be stolen.

- Hi all,
As Sue has said, I got another sighting last night at 11.30pm on Sutton Passeys Crescent.
If anyone reading this is actively searching for her, please don't approach her if you see her, she'll just run off. Eye contact will also make her run. She prefers being behind you so it's best to turn round. Holly loves cheese but is unlikely to take it from your hand.

- Hi. I believe Queenie/Holly loves other dogs. So try walking in the area with other dogs and it may attract her, not too many people. Throw food if you see her towards her so she thinks new people are a good thing.. Just a case of sitting and waiting until she coes towards you. Fingers crossed. When I get time I will try and come with my dog because he loves other dogs..

- There was another sighting of Holly late last night on Hirst Crescent. Zooberoo went straight to where she was seen, but couldn't find her. She seems to be sticking to a general area not far from home, but seems to be moving around within that area. We're not sure how we're actually going to catch her. Also I think there's a bit of confusion. She hasn't been sighted again. I was informing Riverlady of Holly's last sightings (which were on mon 7th jan). Sorry if that wasn't clear.
A notice will be in the classified section of the evening post this evening and for the next three days. It'll also be on their website for a week - 2013-01-10 21:59 Jenni S
- It's good there's been another sighting. I agree with SaffySP about the microchip etc. Also great idea to leave poster on dashboard when parked up. Although I carry copy of poster with me when driving round searching, I never thought of leaving it visible on the dashboard when parked (doh!). Shall in future tho for Queenie/Holly and other dogs lost locally, wherever I park. Fingers still xd for this lovely girl.

- Have bumped to top of site as sighted again.

- She's been seen around Bramcote Lane and gearing towards Martins Pond maybe we could change the location to those? Thanks for keeping her on Twitter Riverlady

- still circulating on twitter...

maybe we should change the placenames to further afield.? - 2013-01-10 19:30 Zooberoo
- The dogs trust rang this afternoon and are now going to draft in the head office to help raise her profile and they're going to get staff involved in physically searching for her as well as looking into getting contacts they know to help where possible. I've also informed network rail today but I hope to god I don't hear from them. Still no sightings.
- 2013-01-10 13:13 Zooberoo
- I hope you're right. I've searched Twitter for "Wollaton" and tweeted a lot of the accounts that popped up. The Topper (free paper) are running her as a news item, it'll come out on Wednesday (I hope we find her before then). That gets delivered to all of the city and it's outskirts so hopefully it'll reach more people than the posters can in case she's moved out of Wollaton.
- 2013-01-10 12:46 SaffySP
- I think with her being microchipped you would have heard something if something had happened to her. My guess is, particularly with her being timid, that she's hiding up somewhere during the day and probably coming out when it's dark. There are loads of safe places she could be hiding.I haven't been on this site very long, but I've seen with several dogs that they can go many days between sightings, because they are so good at finding hideouts.

- Thanks SaffySP I've tweeted the dogs trust and the loughborough branch today (though loughborough is closed on Thursdays)
It's frustrating about the university but I understand their reasons.
I'm now starting to panic that she's not been seen since Monday - especially when I see the weather forcast. With so many posters about - someone must have seen her if she was still moving around the area. - 2013-01-10 12:13 SaffySP
- I'm on Twitter so have just tweeted link to Dogs Trust and asked them to retweet
- 2013-01-10 11:44 SaffySP
- I asked university security on Monday about putting up posters, but unfortunately they said they get so many that they have a policy of removing them as soon as they see them, which is really unhelpful. I usually park near the west entrance and I always leave a poster on my dashboard so people passing by will hopefully see it.

- Hi Chris,
We haven't managed to do round that side yet. We postered up Derby Road and on Faraday road on Sunday evening but after Monday's sightings around Harrow Road and Parkside we've focused around that side. We've also postered around the Priory island, and on Bramcote Lane near the shops (across Wollaton Vale from Parkside) We've also put a couple up towards Bramcote.
A friend helped us door knock around Parkside the other night but apart from that, it's just my boyfriend and I doing the postering, and with us both being back at work now, we only have limited hours to do it.
Sadly the Dogs Trust seem quite disinterested in helping. They've not rang me at all for updates since I informed them she was missing on Sunday - I called them to update on Tuesday and they said they'd call me back to let me know if any staff were available to help but haven't heard since.
I've asked them to retweet the link to this page on Twitter but they haven't even done that which is quite upsetting.
I'll try and poster the Middleton Boulevard side/the university and the QMC tonight.
We're looking at getting an ad in the Evening Post and thanks to SaffySP I'm going to enquire with the Topper as well.
I'm not sure if I'll be able to get to the schools in time to poster there.
I'll message you on FB re: the postering - if you can help that would be brilliant. Thank you - 2013-01-10 09:48 Chris
- Not sure if you managed to put posters at the Middleton Blvd ends of Sutton Passey Cres, but didn't see any there yesterday when I passed by. It's a 1-way system and should catch a few people living and walking around that side of the park. Also, did you manage to poster the Nottm Uni Education buildings at the bottom of Ilkeston Rd, on the Crown Island? And there are shops now opposite there, where there used to be a pub, on the left just before the traffic lights onto Faraday Rd - they would be worth postering.
There's a few places on Wollaton Vale, runs parallel with Parkside, that could be postered, and so extended outwards the area on that boundary.
Are you getting any help postering? Have you asked DogTrust for help from the networks they presumably have of supporters etc? If you can print plenty of posters, then I can help extend the area covered at the weekend. Message me on FB from the DogLost Midlands page and I can sort out picking some up from you.
Edited to add: can you drop a few posters off at all the local schools? Children are walking to and from school, and are out and about and are good at spotting things; and I think they all have mobiles these days!Last edited: 2013-01-10 09:50:59 by Chris - 2013-01-10 09:08 SaffySP
- Morning Zooberoo. I think the area co-ordinators bump the page if something significant happens like a sighting. Just a thought...are there any local free newspapers, that get distributed to everyone's home, you could put her in?
- 2013-01-10 08:52 Zooberoo
- Thanks Chris, at least people are aware. Broxtowe dog wardens now have her on their books. And she's given me a couple more rescue places for me to call.
Is there anyway to bump this up the page a bit or is that not possible? Thanks - 2013-01-09 23:22 Chris
- My heart goes out to you. I spoke to another jogger today in Wollaton Park (on basis they cover a lot of ground); he knew who I was talking about, so your posters are doing a great job and folk are looking out. Did you do a poster for Russell Avenue/Crescent, as their gardens back onto the spinney I noticed, and no fences - in case she went thro there and checked their bins out the back of a night? I'll be driving home in about 30 mins or so and will again drive around the Park on my way there, and stop to give Bess a little late night walk - she thinks it is great because there are foxes to watch out for; shame she's not a tracker dog really
- 2013-01-09 22:20 Zooberoo
- Hi Chris, thanks for your continued efforts, I'm ringing the wardens and the police daily. I'll ring Broxtowe tomorrow, I didn't think of that. A friend works at the RSPCA so she's keeping an eye out for her, I phoned Babbington again today, I rang a local rescue place and she said the law has been changed and not many places can accept strays anymore. One vets I rang advisers pet hotel in ruddington but nothing there. Holly has dew claws on her hind paws as well as her front which is quite distinctive, all the places I've left details with have this info.
A lady rang tonight to say she saw her running along Parkside towards bramcote lane on Tuesday morning at about 9am but when I double checked it was Tuesday and not Monday, she said she couldn't be certain :-(
Postered around torville drive and the coop up there tonight in case she's moved further away. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she's found a sheltered spot to stay warm and that I get some sightings tomorrow - 2013-01-09 21:50 Chris
- Are you phoning the pounds daily? I know they say they have details of lost dogs, but heard so many times when they have simply not put lost dog to missing dog details and let owners know. Also, is there another pound/kennels they are taken to for the area aside from Babbington. I've a feeling I've heard of one but can't recall when or where. Have you been in touch with Highways Agency for any accident reports to them? Think Doglost should be able to advise re that? I took a walk in Wollaton Park at lunch time and spoke to helpful woman in their Tourist shop who said all the Park employees were looking out for her. I walked along Parkside, and Bramcote Lane as far as the church on way home - it was about 1.00 a.m. Only thing I saw was a fox. Keeping all crossed and will continue to look whenever I can.
Another thought - have you contacted Dog Wardens for Broxtowe area, as just back of Parkside falls into BroxtoweLast edited: 2013-01-09 21:53:05 by Chris - 2013-01-09 14:13 Zooberoo
- Thanks so much SaffySP.
I drove round the area she was seen on Monday this morning for an hr and a half but with no joy. No reports of anyone having seen her since Monday, I'm worrying that something has happened to her. I'm sure if she was moving around the area someone would have seen her.
All the vets in the local area are aware and Ambivet in Wollaton and the Priory Vets on the Priory island both have posters. Priory group have also put her details on their face book page.
I have lots more posters printed and ready to go tonight.
It's getting cold out there now and I'm desperate to find her.
- 2013-01-09 10:01 SaffySP
- Hi, I had a look around the Parkside area last night and on my way into work this morning, but no sign. I'll keep doing this every day until she's found. Fingers crossed you get news of a sighting today xx
- 2013-01-08 20:47 Zooberoo
- I went round martins pond and the plantation at lunchtime today. No sign of her. I've not heard of any sightings today either. We're going to put more posters out tonight.
- 2013-01-08 19:50 Chris
- walked around some of the spinney at the bottom of Old Coach Road with my lurcher at lunchtime. Saw a jogger who had seen posters and spotted Holly leaving the Park on Saturday afternoon down LimeTree Avenue. If he can find DogLost poster he said he'll put one up in Siemens where he works. Probably worth postering Russell Avenue/Crescent and the footpath signs at bottom of Old Coach Road to catch people dog walking thro the spinney and the gardens that back onto it?

- It's good that people are noticing her posters and calling. It's a pity that you didn't know sooner but it all gives you a picture of her movements and the places/roads that she might return to.
- 2013-01-08 09:22 Zooberoo
- Update: I've had two calls this morning about sightings yesterday - firstly she was seen crossing Harrow Road and going down Brendon Road. She was later seen running out of Cambridge Road in a panic and running across Wollaton Road in front of traffic before heading down Old Coach Road.
Both of these sightings were yesterday morning before the Parkside/Bramcote Lane sighting.
We used our other dog to scent around the area last night so we're hoping she picks the scent up this morning. - 2013-01-08 04:08 Jenni S
- Received email and will keep an eye out for this girl. Do hope she's soon found safe and well.

- All of the efforts are just brilliant. This site is just fantastic! I've spoken to most householders on Parkside this evening and friends, colleagues, dog walkers and joggers are all keeping an eye out so hopefully someone will see her and report it soon. I want her home so badly.

- I had a drive around the Parkside area on my way home tonight, but didn't see her I'm afraid. I'll have another look on my way into work in the morning. If she seems to be sticking to the area around the park, is it worth someone at DL giving the owner scenting advice?
- 2013-01-07 11:15 Chris
- all crossed here too. If still not home later, I'll try and include a circuit of the Park perimeter in my next journey

- Update: I've just had a call from the dog warden, someone has called to say they've seen a dog matching her description on Parkside in Wollaton (the other side of the park from where she was last seen) the warden is going to try and catch her and my boyfriend is heading down there too. Fingers crossed we get her home today.
- 2013-01-06 20:40 Zooberoo
- Chris, it's so kind of you to look for her, we've put some posters up near the lime tree ave gate, wollaton hall drive and around triumph road and faraday rd as well as lenton boulevard. We live just off wollaton road, near the harrow road gate into the park. I'll put some posters around the places you've suggested that we haven't done yet. Hopefully we'll get her home safe soon.

- Drove around area at dusk today. If you've not already, would be worth leaving posters with QMC - loads of pedestrian traffic in and out of there. Likewise, the shop at Dunkirk roundabout and the post office on corner of Beeston Road (University Blvd) and Lace Street; shops and Crown Pub at Crown Island in the other direction, and the Uni Education buildings opposite the pub on the Crown Island. You've prob already done those. I drove around Sutton Passey Crescent which loops onto Middleton and backs onto Wollaton Park - might be worth leaving posters a either end of the Crescent. Sure you've already done Wollaton Park Golf Club. Hadn't seen the Faraday Rd sighting when I left. What direction would home be in, in case she is trying to make her way there?
- 2013-01-06 16:48 Zooberoo
- Thanks for your help rottielover.
Saffysp - that's so kind of you, thanks so much! We have a sighting near Faraday Road about an hour after she ran away from us, but she could be anywhere by now. It's great if the uni security guys can keep an eye out for her xx - 2013-01-06 15:38 SaffySP
- I work at the university across the road from Wollaton Park. I'm back in tomorrow, so will put up some posters there, including at the security office. The security guys are continually driving round the grounds so someone may have seen her if she's gone in the direction of the uni. Hope you find her soon xx
