Nobody came forward to claim this old boy but luckily a nurse from the vets fell in love with him and he is now happily living with her and her other dogs.

Can't be Jed as this old boy is entire, that is until tomorrow when he will be neutered before going into his foster home.

Okay - this is miles away but.............. Jed 46198 went missing on 10th December - is it possible he's been picked up and taken out of the area. One of our local losts was picked up and taken all the way to Sheffield (and returned).
AlisonH
Sadly this is not Thor.
AlisonH
Hi gsp4 it is Lab rescue that have offered the foster home for this old boy. We are all hoping that the owner will be located but in the meantime everything possible is being done to keep him safe.

Thanks Cindy will contact Thors owner and ask them to take a look.Last edited: 2013-01-19 22:28:37 by AlisonH

Could this be Thor 42353?

I'm sorry you feel that the DW isn't/hasn't done enough for this old boy - earlier on in the comments, you may see that he has already had a rescue place secured for him - presumably by the Dog warden. Having done breed rescue for 20-odd years and contrary to popular belief, DW's do not work 24/7 - us volunteers might but they do have procedures to follow. DW's have my utmost respect - they do a very difficult job in sometimes very unacceptable circumstances and have to make some very difficult decisions. If you want to have a go - have a go at the families who don't chip their pets and the vets who don't scan for chips. I hope this old boy finds his family - if not, he will be well looked after in foster.Last edited: 2013-01-20 09:29:20 by jobadger

in respnse - why not leave the mobile number ? why leave the council office number which is not open at weekends? most folks are on internet these days, not all, i know. So why not put on internet asap? I know DWs are not obliged to use internet to find missing owners. Its a shame as more lost dogs (unchipped)would probably find their owners. Do Lab Rescue know of this dog?

Hi im shortly hopefully being matched up with my 3rd assistance dog & as far as im aware all registered assistance dogs are chipped.
Good luck to this old boy i hope his owners are found. Im not sure if some else said this but maybe its an older person who isnt on the net & doesnt know who to contact. PA.

gsp4 I do undersand how you feel being an avid animal lover myself, but the dog wardens can only do what they can. I once had to contact a dog warden, and she went over, and beyond her duty. She came out when the R.S.P,C.A refused to. I rest my case. So please dont be too harsh on dog wardens, they can only do their best. Hope all goes well with this dog.
AlisonH
gsp4 as Marian-M has said this dog warden has moved heaven and earth to find the owners of this lovely dog. If she hadn't have worked so hard to find a rescue place he would have been pts on Monday. Please try to understand that not everyone knows about DogLost and not everyone is computer savvy. Now she has made contact with us I have offered my help to add stray dogs from South Holland to this site. Also it is not her fault that there is no dog warden cover at weekends, that is down to the councils lack of funding.Last edited: 2013-01-18 23:01:13 by AlisonH

gsp4, the Spalding dog warden is one of the best I have come across. She works very hard to return and rehome lost animals. Pick on someone else!

this dog is not Sam of Northgate, Pinchbeck. Sam is a lot younger, no grey muzzle. Have contacted a few working people in the area who will spread the word. DOG WARDEN - WHY HAVE YOU WAITED 5 DAYS TO ADD THIS DOG ONTO THE FOUND SECTION? THE OWNERS NOW HAVE ONLY 2 DAYS TO FIND THEIR DOG - OF WHICH YOU ARE NOT ACTUALLY OPEN !!!!!!
ClaireC
If he were a guide or support dog would he not have been "chipped" to the owner or even the Trust of such an organisation? Hope he's not been dumped because of age and if so then I hope his rescue home will keep him safe.
AlisonH
Thank you minniemoo I have sent an email to the dog warden alerting her to your comment. Let's hope it is him.
minniemoo
Added him to Alder Vets FB page and a few people think he may live in Northgate,Pinchbeck - he has been wandering before and is called Sam if it's the same dog.

Maybe a retired Guide Dog or support dog, as they are trained to walk on the left.
AlisonH
Just had a long conversation with the dog warden who is dealing with this old boy. She reckons he is about 10 years old. He is very obedient and walks nicely by your left side. His nails have been kept trimmed and he is in good condition so somebody must be missing him. A rescue place has been secured for him if an owner does not come forward. He is entire but will be neutered on Monday (when his 7 days are up) before going into foster care.
AlisonH
Thanks glossoplass but I have just called Oz's owner and hae is back home.
