Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.

There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. Have just also seen a message from a helper who was in the area today and seen the Fire Brigade pulling two dogs from the canal, sadly looks like one was Poppy and the other owner was in the area.

It is with the deepest regret to inform everyone that Poppy's body was found in the canal today. Family are devastated and would like to pass on their thanks to everyone. This was everyone's worst fear and not the outcome we wanted.

I've checked the AW site and there was one registered which could be the same one and now reported as REUNITED and is a male.

There been a report of an accident on the M57 involving a car and a dog being involved in a fatal RTA on TUESDAY 22.01.13.

Tonight I've contacted the HIGHWAYS AGENCY, LIVERPOOL CITY COUNCIL, MOTORWAY POLICE and also MERSEYSIDE POLICE re the dog TBL&F were alerted to. There are no reports re an accident or a dog being killed. There was reports of a dog being on the M57 and this report matches the one we are already aware of and description matches missing CHANCE Saluki 47518. Sighted in the afternoon and Motorway Police tried to catch her, she ran off toward Huyton (Chance's owner is aware of this). The person who gave the info has been sent a poster of both CHANCE and POPPY and asked to take a look at their photo. Thanks Team Beagle Lost & Found for the alert.

Spoken to owner. They are going to chase the Liverpool Echo up. The Echo did ask if o.k. to do a cover story but up to now nothing has gone in. I've passed on a contact number for the Liverpool Echo.

Owner/family are going to have a search of the area on SATURDAY 26.01.13 at 10.00am meeting near WANGO LANE SWING BRIDGE (as in picture).

Owner has been trying to get more details. Info maybe flawed. It is Copple House Lane, near some farmhouse but he does not know which one. This area is more likely as it is L10. Great there has been a possible sighting and rooting for it to be Poppy at least we know she is not in the water. xxx

It was a dog walker who has reported this sighting.

Someone I know was out this morning looking for Poppy while on a walk, they have taken a photo of the area, this will help others see what it is like and conditions. The canal is frozen over and there are breaks in it.

I suggest anyone searching along the canal don't take dogs with them if they are going to be looking close to the canal. Is there anyone who can cycle along the canal on both sides as she may have managed to get to the other side. It might be worth cycling for some way down on both side, or if we have any runners who would like a gentl jog along the canal. Are there any ledges she could be perched on.

It was a DL helper who lives in the area and owner has been made aware.

Poppy will be going in the Liverpool Echo tomorrow, waiting for clarification if a paid add or cover story.

Just spoken to Liverpool RSPCA (Halewood) she has not been handed in up to now. Whatever condition Poppy is found she would be taken to the RSPCA and scanned.

Just had the following update from her owner, I asked for an update, more precise location and if he witnessed her going in the water:

Yes I saw her go in but it took me a minute to reach the spot so hoping she got out. I would like to organise a search of the canal when the ice clears and your help would be very much appreciated.

By the end of the Racecourse near Wango Lane swing bridge.

Spoken to owner who is out looking for her. She was wearing a collar on with ID. She was SPAYED about 6 weeks ago and has a spay scar.

Sometimes dogs picked up in the area are taken to the PDSA in BOOTLE L20 owner knows where this branch is. I will email info/advice which includes contact numbers and places to try in the area.

I've started sharing her details on fb and others are sharing. Thank you to everyone who is spreading the word. Keeping everything crossed she is found safe and well soon. x
