Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Belle

Good night Bob, you were a lucky boy to have had such a happy life and loving family, you passed with dignity. x

I guess he knew it was time to "go". Dogs do the darndest of things at times. My old Border Collie (aged 16), who used to win at obedience every time, decided one day to just run under a lorry. Still very sad and my sympathies to the owners. RIP Ben xx
Nikki (Tyler's mum)
I am so sorry to hear the sad news, my thoughts go out to your dear owners. RIP beautiful boy until you meet with your owners once more at the bridge x x

Dear all. I can sadly confirm that we found Bob today and he had already passed away. We have been able to bring him home to the farm where he spent 16 wonderful years and was a very much loved member of our family. He gave us so much happiness and we were truly blessed to have had such a loyal and beautiful dog. We are now able to say goodbye properly and find a special spot for Bob to be in peace. I cannot thank you all enough for your thoughts, advice and hope. This really is a fantastic site. xxx

Oh am so sorry. RIP handsome Bob....now at Rainbow Bridge xx

This news is so sad. I had hoped that Bob could have been one of the lucky ones to be found and spend his remaining time with his family. RIP Bob.

AlisonH
Just had confirmation from the owner that dear old Bob has gone to Rainbow Bridge. RIP sweetheart.
ClaireC
Sadly looks like it. Guess will have to wait for owner to confirm.
Deb4gsd
just posted same time as yourself! so Bob has been found and has sadly passed away??? :(
ClaireC
Cheeky, do you mean Ben's owners?
Deb4gsd
still no news from the owners yet??? I'm convinced this dog is Bob the more I look at the markings! I know they were looking for Bob in local area at time someone text them, but this really needs checking out asap :( couldn't the local dog warden be told of the possibility that the dog could be a missing dog listed on here?
cheeky
just rang this lady up, see if it matched a dog that was found, sadly she has found her dog down side of an edge, and he had passed away, she hasnt told her husband yet, but will probably phone you to comfirm details, she,s just waiting to tell her hubby xx
Deb4gsd
I had seen this on FB earlier, it definitely looks like him, checking the markings out, and the fact she also feels he's deaf......fingers crossed it is :) how on earth has he got all the way there tho if it is him???
Helen
I too thought that it was a long way but, like you mention, he could have been picked up and dumped.
bullt
It is quite a long way from home unless someone took him for a prank and then tipped him out. I hope someone has taken him in - don't understand why the warden would not pick him up ?! x
kaz35
i have also text the owners of the above dog about the dog found in cardiff i hope it is bob i really do xx
bullt
Crossing everything for Bob from miles away - can't view the link due to pilot error but SO hope it could be him. x
Helen
I have sent a text message to the mobile number above to tell them about the dog in Wales. It does look like him. I really hope that it's Bob.

I have just had a reply to say that they are currently out looking for Bob while it's light but they will check later.Last edited: 2013-01-26 12:42:34 by Helen

Phoebe
Hi once again just to thank everyone for their advice and help. There is still no sign of Bob. I am going to put posters up today and hope any walkers may have some news. Bob is very well known in the area and many of us have searched the area, farm and all the ditches in the lane. We are not giving up hope and your threads and kind words are keeping that hope going. He has to be somewhere! We have had Bob in our family for 16 years and the house is very lonely without him. Fingers, toes and everything else crossed. x
DogLostNina
I had hoped that the owners would have been able to keep us up to date with progrees so far. My biggest fear is to read the fact that there is a pond and a slurry pit on land where Bob lives.
bullt
I keep looking at Bob's thread and hoping for some news about him - he surely can't have gone far. x
DogLostPoochpal - Regional Co-ordinator - South West - Police Liaison Team
Thank you everyone for all that is being done to find Bob, there is lots of good advice being given by you all. Please let us know as soon as he is mentioned in the press or on the radio so that we can bump his page.
AlisonH
I spoke to Bob's owner this morning and he said several people have searched the farm thoroughly but still no sign of Bob. Suggested they search behind haystacks and in outhouses etc but he seems to think someone may have taken Bob in. There is a pond and slurry pit on the farm but the owner doesn't think Bob would have been able to walk that far (let's hope not). Have left my number in case they need any more advice.Last edited: 2013-01-24 17:20:35 by AlisonH

Bob's details are on Taunton FB page,I've also posted on other South West missing/lost dog pages on FB.Posters need to be displayed - have all neighbours been asked to check outbuildings? With the horrid weather here he may have wandered into a shed/barn for shelter.Do hope he's home safe soonLast edited: 2013-01-24 17:45:09 by twoDs

As Bob has sight and hearing issues, keep doing the scenting. They can still smell very well so use that to your advantage. Lead him home with the scenting. I assume you have been advised about that but if not, just ask! Also he can still smell BBQ's and hot food, so try doing that where he was lost and further out to see if you can call him back with his nose instead of his ears. You can get those cheap throw away BBQs and they work very well spreading the smell across fields. Come on precious Bob. xxx Last edited: 2013-01-24 17:00:43 by Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
cindy
Have given Bobs details to St. Giles Kennels, they keep the records for the area, for dogs that have gone missing, left t/p numbers for contact.
cindy
Just contacted Taunton Gazette website, they are putting details on their website about Bob, I have given both contact telephone numbers.

Phoebe can you let us know what you have done so far to get Bobs plight to as many people as possible. Have you printed off any posters and put them around your area by chance.
DogLostPoochpal - Regional Co-ordinator - South West - Police Liaison Team
It looks as though you are all doing all you can to help Bob and his family. Have you contacted local press/radio to ask them to put out an appeal for help?
DogLostJulie - Area Co-ordinator - Surrey & South London
Phoebe - I can't find the thread but have sent the Taunton Somerset facebook page a message with Bob's details and the link to this page - I hope they will put it on their page so many more people can see. I am praying Bob is found safe and well very soon. With all good luck. Julie x
Phoebe
Thank you for all your kind words and help. I am trying to locate the thread about a collie that has been found on the taunton somerset facebook page but can't find it. Can anyone please help?
DogLostNina
I rang and spoke to owner and tried to tell her about scenting method and about leaving his bed or something he could curl up on. Face book is something I cant advise on!
ClaireC
Sidewater, I'm never too sure how Facebook works as I am not a user of it! Would the owner of this dog be able to locate the finder of the collie themselves on the Taunton Somerset page? If not would you be able to help them?
Spindle
Poor collie, hope people are out there searching for him. Extremely cold that way at the moment. sidewater can you put link to that page please.
sidewater
On Facebook, Taunton Somerset page, someone has found a collie dog. Message is in a thread about the weather.

Photo cropped for a better image of dear old Bob.

I remember an old dog I was dealing with who's owner said she could'nt possibly of gone far because she found it difficult walking...she was found eventually 2 miles away, she had just wandered and kept going.

Poor old Bob. I’ve found that it helps to print out an A4 sheet of paper cut into business-card size slips, each with brief details and your phone number on. Give them to all the local dog walkers, postmen etc. you meet. Then if someone has news when they’re out and about they don’t need to find a poster or log on to the site to contact you. Hope all the local volunteers can rally round.

Bob went missing from Gotton near Hestercombe,Taunton area.Have shared his details and asked owner to amend here via FB page.Do hope he's sheltering somewhere and is safely home soon

Really hope Bob is home safe with you soon. I'm in Suffolk so can't help with search. Would it help to put how & where Bob went missing so local people can help & look in outbuildings etc.x

Thinking of you all at this very sad time, sharing with dog-walking friends & F.B. Although Bob is old and blind, he has many years of experience to help him. Hopefully he will be sheltering up, and soon be reunited with you. X
