- THE RAINBOW BRIDGE
There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth. It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colours. Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows, hills, and valleys with lush green grass. When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place.
There is always food and water and warm Spring weather. The old frail animals are young again. They play all day with each other. There is only one thing missing, they are not with their special person who loved them so much on Earth.
Each day they all run and play until the day comes when one suddenly stops playing and looks up! The nose twitches! The ears rise up! The eyes are staring! Then suddenly, this one runs from the group! You have been seen, and when you and your special friend meet, you take him or her into your arms and you both embrace. Your face is licked again and again and you look once more into the eyes of your trusting pet.
Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together, never again to be separate. x

- Now your bowl is empty
And your feet are cold
And your body cannot stop rocking
I know
It hurts to let go
Since the day we found you
You have been our friend
And your voice still
Echoes in the hallway of this house
But now
It's the end
We will be with you
When you're leaving
We will be with you
When you go
We will be with you
And hold you till you're quiet
It hurts to let you go
We will be with you
You will stay with us - 2013-04-20 00:00 CarolineU

- so saddened to read poor Banjo is no longer with us, but having followed this story and reading where Banjo ran off while on a walk with her owner, which apparently was out of character for Banjo, I deeply believe her much loved canine Mum had called her to be by her side at the Bridge, as they couldn't bear to be apart! Destiny and Fate can't be controlled and no matter how sad this outcome is, comfort must be taken that Mum and Daughter are together again, waiting for Human Mum to join them when the time is right! xxx

- It is with great sadness that I now write to advise, yesterday, sweet Banjo was found, but she had already gone to heaven. Her body was found in the bushes having been hit by a vehicle on the A406 and not reported. We can only surmise how she got to the road, but a kind worker, named William, was repairing a fence and found her. He is getting her body collected by the pet crem for Maria, who will then have the ashes of her two beloved dogs, mum and daughter, together. Whilst this is extremely sad, I cannot help but feel some measure of awe in this story. Banjo lost her mum, Lyga, only days earlier and on the very day that her mum's ashes were returned to Maria, Banjo went to heaven to be with her mum. Banjo and her mum are now once more together, safe and happy in heaven. Poor Maria is overwhelmed with grief; what a devastating outcome to lose both dogs so close together. I hope some day she will be able to look back and see how these two so loved each other, they could not be apart. Maria, my heart goes out to you. I hope in time, your heart knows peace and believe me when I say, they will never leave you. They are only a whisper away. You have found Banjo, she is no longer lost and at peace with her mum. God bless you, Maria and your two beautiful babes, now safe in God's arms.
I would also like to thank everyone who helped so much in this search and it was not in vain because Banjo became so well known and that, I am sure, is how William managed to locate her owner. Well done and a thank you from Banjo herself. xxx Last edited: 2013-04-18 12:42:36 by Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders - 2013-04-18 12:31 Unknown

Sorry it wasn't Banjo, but we'll just have to keep looking out for her. x - 2013-04-01 21:18 Unknown

- Advertised in this weeks Countryman's Weekly magazine. I hope it brings some news
- 2013-03-02 13:33 Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
- Nothing to report, sadly. Everyone on this page and those in the background have done extremely well in trying to find Banjo. I, personally, am truly grateful for your kindness and I know owner is very grateful. Just wish we could have found Banjo by now. Many things happen on DogLost and dogs do turn up in the strangest of places when you least expect, so we never give up hope, ever. Please keep a look out and remember Banjo could be anywhere. She could have been given up at any council and may have even been rehomed. But by that same token, she could still be with the person, or relatives of the person, who took her, maybe living elsewhere. We don't know for certain what happened to this girl on that day she disappeared and the possible "theft" is the only lead we have. Owner always felt she had been taken and having been to the area with area owner, I also think this is the only explanation. We also checked with the motorway/A406 people as we received a report of a dog but it didn't tie up with Banjo; I did double check and I don't believe this was Banjo. Owner also called Highways. So, nothing is over till it's over and this is not yet over. Please keep Banjo in your minds and if you live around this area, do keep watching for her. If you see or hear anything, please let us know. If you put a post on this page that needs addressing and don't get a reply, pls email me (as below threads) or contact Admin. With so many dogs coming in we don't always see everything at the time. Banjo, please let us know where you are. xxxxxx

- Can Banjo be included in the DTA (Dog Theft Action) group Crufts video? They need the info by midnight tonight in order to be included so maybe there is not enough time. They need the following information though but not sure if Banjo can be included if not proven as stolen?
Dogs Name,Age,Description,Missing Since,Microchipped, Area, Contact and
at least 2 clear photos are required no posters will be accepted.
Not sure if it will be possible due to time constraint. Further info on the DTA Facebook group page. - 2013-02-24 21:43 Buzz and Amber
- any update on Banjo would be great. Has there been any sightings at all? The only kind of positive contact was the annonymous caller and everything seems to have gone silent after that which is very odd? i know lots of people have done publicity, postering, leafleting, searching but nothing at all. Anyone have any other ideas?

- I thought it could well be the council removing them from the main road and the roundabout, but three of us have now re-postered those places and I would have thought that by now, if it were the council they would be fed up and would call the owner to ask her to stop putting them up. This is what makes me wonder? Or, is it just someone who doesn't like dogs and is removing them for the sake of it? And, of course, it could be someone who knows something. I did find some others off the main roads, in housing areas, just ripped and left hanging. I'm thinking that might be kids who just like to rip stuff off for fun. I really don't know why we have not had any sightings by now. Someone, somewhere, knows what happened to Banjo. - I just drove past the park where Banjo was lost and I could only see on poster left up inside one of the park entrances. All other posters that I put back up at the entrance, at the roundabout and on the Chigwell Road towards Barkingside and near the Broadmead Estate are gone! I saw one still up which was on the housing estate near the park and am wondering if this may be because it is on private land? Maybe the council are removing the others on lamp posts on the road? Who knows...
- 2013-02-18 21:58 Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
- Thank you! That's great. Does any one know of any kennels or rescues within a 30 mile radius, say. Owner has advised she has contacted them, but I have no idea who. Dogs Trust, Harefield. Hillside at Galley Hill, WX. Battersea. Usually if Abbalish at Battersea has a report she posts on dog's page, so do wonder if owner has called them? Any others that spring to mind? Trouble is, if Banjo has already been handed in to a rescue, she could even be rehomed. We just have to keep trying and see where it leads. Oh, sweet Banjo we are trying so hard, baby. x

- One of the vets I emailed Banjos poster to, Goddard Veterinary Group, kindly replied saying they will put her poster up on their notice board and also circulate to their branches in and around the area.

- Ilford Recorder is part of a separate company from Woodford Guardian as far as I can see although the Ilford Recorder does cover Woodford news. Have emailed Guardian now as no response to tweet.

- Advised owner re the Ilford recorder - she didn't know, so went out to buy one. Banjo wasn't in it, so told her to look online. Now she has said Banjo was in last week's paper edition, so tat is good as that wol dhave been delivered house to house. I'm not it covered Woodford side though? Not familar with this. We need Woodford side to be covered by paper too. Not sure if they will now that Banjo has been in another paper, unless of course its the same news company.

- Well done indeed! I have been investigating some things with council and Transport for London and their depot - boy is that hard work! Had a couple of reports of possible dogs, but I don't think they relate to Banjo as Banjo was wearing his coat when he went missing. Come on Banjo where are you precious? I am just wondering if as not chipped, if she got handed into a kennel she may get rehomed. I advised owner to call all kennels a number of times. Eveything crossed for this publicity to come through. I am bumping Banjo due to this. x

- I replaced the posters that were taken down at on of the park entrances and along the pathway between both entrances this morning. I have also put up lots of posters on lamp posts wher I could around the roundabout, up to the traffic lights on the Southend Rd (and at the other entrance for Roding Valley Park on this Road), I also postered up on Chigwell Road up to Broadmead (and down some of the side streets off of here). I didn't get as much done as I hoped but hope to get some mroe done at some point this week. I really hope Banjo gets home soon! :(

- I am so angry as just come back from area after finding all our posters, including our large coloured ones, have been taken down at the park entrance, the roundabout and along the main road. The ones still up are in the housing estates so that is something. The ones missing were the important ones - right where it happened. It is possible it was a council workman, as sometimes they don't like it but all they had to do was call owner. To remove the ones at the park was really a heartless thing to do. Also, of course, it could be someone that knows something or has Banjo. I put some back up but I wasn't expecting that, so ran out of posters as I had been plastering Woodford Bridge. Because of this, I never made it across the road to parade of shops on Barkingside side, so I hope Penny is okay working that part on her own. Some good news - I was really welcomed in Beal High School. They promised to put up posters and speak to the children; they were very understanding. I hope the next time I get out that way it is to see Banjo home! Will keep on at all the newspapers as have to get word out that way, even more now. Come on Banjo, pleassssseeeeee get home safe, and now. x

- We are in the Barkingside + Redbridge areas today. Trying to blitz this area now too as its the only close part as yet unpostered. I won't see this page for a while as heading out soon, but if anyone needs anything scroll down and use my email addy - I will see it on my phone - maybe not immediately as poor Sam66 found out on Tuesday, Sorry Sam, but i will see it at some point. Penny & I have about 200 or more posters/leaflets between us. Penny has kindly printed a lot herself and will have some more that I have very kindly, just been donated. Thank goodness! Okay, everything x'd for Banjo. x

- Penny, all okay. I will do as you said and email you tomorrow afternoon when I have done it. I can easily get to Barkingside as I know it far better than Woodford... side :-) I've got about 80 posters/leaflets for you in a large envelope with sellotape. But by all means use them as leaflets/flyers/posters whatever you like. I heard from owner twice today. All your hard work out there is really paying off - you have truly amazed me. Owner said the community police visited - I know who helped on that - thank you. She also said the Ilford Recorder rang her. What the outcome was, I don't yet know. I am still going to plough ahead in contacting them myself and the others that Sam has kindly given details to below. I will do this tomorrow before I head over there again. After we get Banjo home, we will sleep for weeks!:-) xxx

- The group of newspapers for this area are called Woodford Gazette or Guardian. Classifieds 0844 477 4590. Text is 80360 I did get a message back from the Old Harlow Boarding Kennels and I called back. They have not had any dogs in fitting Banjo's description but worth noting that they do still take in stray dogs from the dog warden even though technically they are a boarding kennel. Worth knowing for future reference.

- Hi Kimmybear, no problem at all! I would hope that others would do the same for me if me and my dog were in the same situation. I won't be around on Friday as will be at work however if you could leave me a batch of posters somewhere for me to pick up that would be great. I will get some printed off also to post around the Chigwell Road side of the roundabout perhaps? I could also try around Barkingside High Street if some of the shops are happy to put a poster up in their windows. I will see what I can do about the Police dog unit, at least if they are informed they might be able to keep an eye out when exercising their dogs. I have posted Banjo's info on a couple of facebook pages too, one of which has over 1100 members. It's being shared already so fingers crossed!
I'm happy to contribute to contacting some of the local papers too if you need any help with that? There are a few that cover South Woodford and the local areas, Ilford, Woodford Green, Wanstead etc so a few of them might be worth a try. Let me know if you need any help with that side of it also. - Re police, it would be really nice if they could help, but as often is the case without evidence there is no crime to be recorded. This is why so many dogs that are stolen never get recorded as a crime. Unless owner actually saw Banjo taken, there is nothing they can officially do, but hopefully a nice one will come along who will try. Nina, thank you. Sam66 thank you for checking. Red, well done & Caroline, as always a trooper. Do you think if one of us or two or all of us called the local paper, they would do a story? They don't usually, just for a missing dog (as they say) but if under pressure......?? Plus, the story could be that owner has just lost one dog and now she's lost Banjo. Might be enough. We could try. I am so full of emotion to see such amazing helpers out there. Bless you. xxx Last edited: 2013-02-06 21:30:17 by Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders

- EVERYONE PLEASE READ: PennyS, you don't know it, but you have responded to my calls into the ether for help on that side of the roundabout! Thank you! PennyS, I am coming back out on Friday to try and work on that side of Charlie Brown's. If you are able to put any posters up now, please, please do so. Even just a few to get word out. Also, I can give you a batch, or leave them somewhere for you when I come over that way. Would you be able to help put them up? My thinking is that if Banjo was taken by a young lad, by now his family should have seen the posters IF they live in an area we have covered. (Between us we have put out over £1,500 posters and leaflets). So, we have covered at least half a mile up Chigwell Road on park side and opposite. We haven't yet touched Redbridge/Barkingside's side. Yesterday Hazel & I easily crossed parts of the roundabout via the islands, so it is very possible for a lad and a dog to cross to the other side, even at the lights. If Banjo is that side, it would explain why we've had no calls or sightings. We really need to cover Barkingside side. Pls let me know, all help is gratefully received. Thank you. (As a note, owner has been advised to do a number of things, but she does seem to be struggling with all of it. It is very frustrating for us, but we really feel we have to try for her & especially for Banjo as the poor dog has only just lost her lifelong friend: her mother, and, now has been taken from her human mother too. Owner has lost both dogs unless we can find Banjo. Last edited: 2013-02-06 21:28:08 by Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders

- PennyS - I took a couple of posters into Tesco's at Charlie Brown's today. I left them with the Customer Service Staff who said they would have to ask permission. The Police Dog Unit sounds be a good idea. I think sharing on Facebook, or anything else - is a brilliant idea! Last edited: 2013-02-06 19:15:08 by CarolineU

- I have emailed the Guide Dogs centre in Woodford Green asking them to put a poster up. I will try and get to the Tesco's on Charlie Browns roundabout within the next day or so, tonight if possible. There are a few pubs/resturants around there also so will poster those too. There is a Metropolitan Police Dog Unit in Woodford Green, not too far away from Roding Valley Park. Has anyone tried there? Longshot but they might have some info? I am a little wary of contacting the police without the owners permission first.

- Lots if people in the area seem to be aware now. Been leafleting dog walkers etc and postering in the area. Now on Streetlife.com.

- Hi all. Just wondering if there is anything in particular I can do to help? I am in the Barkingside area so not too far although I am not too familiar with the park where Banjo was lost/stolen. I notice Broadmead estate has been postered which is what I would have suggested.
Would you be happy for me to post information of Banjo on some dog lost facebook pages for people to share around? Last edited: 2013-02-06 15:14:48 by PennyS - 2013-02-06 14:34 Nina

- Met up with Kim & Hazel. Managed to poster around the other side of Charlie Brown's roundabout, the Woodford side. Broadmead, now called Orchard estate, the route to secondary school, the school and route to Woodford Station and the station car park, station subway. Goddards is the local chain of vets, the main hospital is at Wanstead and the other main vets for that area is Palmerston vet group in Buckhurst Hill. I will contact them in morning just in case. Well done Kim & Hazel, it was blooming cold today, fingers crossed for Banjo!

- Can people help us to email (or phone) schools, businesses, vets, clinics and shops in the area? Just search and pick. I'm sure it won't matter if they get more than one, it may even help more. But if you could post on here who you have contacted then we shouldn't duplicate too much. We just asking if they could keep an eye out, spread the word or emailed display poster. Thank you. x

- Hazebella, thank you. Caroline is going today - see her email addy below. Email her now! She is asking for help. I am going to try & get there later but I have no idea when. H, its going to be VERY busy driving today, so maybe park up & even just speak to everyone you see asking if they know of a young lad who has a new dog in area. Caroline is going to poster a large Tesco on Charlie Brown's rundabout. I am going to poster and look at least half a mile from the park in a circle for flats. Its possible she is out the back of a small flat block. Is there anyone out there who can help with printing posters? Anyone who can get them free??? We need so many and we're doing the best we can. Thank you. H, the post code will lead you to a flat block, the park is right there. You'd have to park down a side road a bit further up as resident's parking zone exists. I'm not familiar with area but like you, am trying. H, this is my email addy, pls use it kherbie57@sky.com. I'll see it on my phone - same for anyone! Thank you. x

- ***UPDATE*** We have received information that a youth may have taken Banjo out of the park. Owner believes that someone has taken her because it is the only thing that makes sense. She is a very freindly dog. If this new info is true, it is believed that the youth didn't realise what he was doing was wrong due to a disability. Looks like she is still in th area - within walking distance - say a mile radius of park. What we need now is a massive publicity campaign, posters in shops, given to postmen, along the roads, taxis etc. Leaflets door to door or on cars. She could well be within our reach, please help us spread the word. If you poster or leaflet a street, please put the name of the raod on here so we don't duplicate. Look especially for flat blocks, even small flats blocks or maisonettes. This poor dog has only just lost her dog mum and now she's missing her human mum too! She is 9 years old and her legs are a bit dodgy. I so want to find this fur baby. Thank you. x

- Kimmybear - in answer to your question about railway lines (although I suspect you now have this information), London Underground (Central Line) runs nearby although I would imagine the tracks are well fenced because of the live rails. The nearest stations to Charlie Brown's roundabout are possibly South Woodford, Woodford & Snaresbrook. Keeping everything crossed that the weekend will bring good news. I think the name of the local veterinary group is Goddards but this may have changed.Last edited: 2013-02-01 22:49:47 by Millys Mum

- Thank you everyone. We're back. Many thanks to helper Jenny & search dog Harley. We walked & searched the whole park as best we could, taking their normal walk route. Park seems well fenced, once inside. It is very hard to understand how Banjo could have vanished. We now know Banjo did NOT bolt, she was simply going about her walk as she always does (and has for 9 years) but just disappeared. She lives next to park so knows how to get home. Park entrance is an open area & its next to busy road, only 50 metres from Charlie Brown's roundabout, but, she had no reason to leave the park or cross the road. Owner has called dog wardens, councils, Highways etc. There is a river inside the park & this needs to be ruled out properly. If anyone can spare some time to walk down river in the direction of Woodford roundabout, or wherever it leads to, that would really help. The park part has mostly been covered. We need to poster along the river even after it leaves park, especially at any River Authority buildings. Just thought! Can someone take & put up posters off Woodford roundabout by that big waterboard building! Even go inside to talk & ask. I'm too far away to get back there easily. Thank you. Something or someone has happened to Banjo. We need to find out what or who. Thank you x. Caroline I'll email you) x

- **** SEARCH PARTY TODAY ***** I've taken the liberty of bumping Banjo because we are searching this afternoon in the park on Chigwell Road. E18 1NJ is the post code for sat nav to the park. Just found out that poor owner has not received any of our advice as she cannot get onto internet and a friend put this on for her. I emailed friend but didn't realise it wasn't owner receiving emails. The tel number IS the owner's. I wont be able to comment further as I am on my way over to the area, but if you can help please come to the park for 1.30pm, or anytime after that, even tonight or tomorrow as we need help. We need help with posters too in the whole area. We don't know what has happened to Banjo. Dosg usually return if they bolt, so we need to make her too hot to handle and at the same time, get everyone searching for her. We need to find her. Thank you, everyone. If you need info pls text owner or call. x

- Heard from owner, Banjo has been missing for two weeks and owner is in a dreadful state. Is there anyone out that way that could help and support owner? Collies are very clever at surviving in the wild so this fur baby could well be around there, please keep postering and searching. How about something big on/near Charlie Brown's roundabout? Or lots of posters where motorists will see them? Can anyone tell me if there is a rail line anywhere near, or any water areas? Any "sites"? Need some checking of the area and some scenting. Sometimes owners are so distraught it is hard to function. These are her words "Please, please help me find her, I miss her so much it is killing me". Can anyone please help? Thank you. x

- I have sent advice to Jane, but not sure if she is the owner or a friend. We really need to find this lovely girl. Something could have scared her if she was feeling vulnerable following her berevement. I wonder if she is a nervous dog and heard a firework or something? Dogs usually come back to where they were lost so if anyone could set up a feeding station there and leave say, a blanket, from owner's home, along with the posters, she may hang around and someone may see her and call. Owner needs to do scenting there - that's a must! It needs to lead back to the place where lost or to the car park or home or wherever is closest and safe. Blanket needs to be in a safe, slightly hidden area so it does not get stolen and provides security for Banjo. Can people keep checking in the park and surrounding areas for anything that could have stopped Banjo getting back? Look for ditches, water, thickets, anything that could have stopped her. And of course, if she has been picked up we need to make her too hot to handle. We don't know whether she is chipped so kennels and rescues need to be called daily, just in case she has no chip. The road people need calling too, as they don't scan dogs they find but if they've seen her, they should remember. Also, they could keep a look out for her. Thank you, everyone. Please keep trying for this precious girl. If her mum has recently gone to heaven, owner is already grieving and now having lost Banjo, it may be too much. xxx
