YEAH YEAH YEAH !!! I've got him! Sheer utter luck, i had just asked the ranger where i could put a poster up over the other side of the main entrance, he suggested the gate into Ranemere area. Just doing that when a lady appeared with her 2 dogs and i asked if she might have seen him ...she said YES she had been with him for 15 minutes and just didn't know what to do, she couldn't get him. He was just over the other side of the gate.Initially he kept moving away from me it was when i called my other dogs name he really seamed to look up. Eventually i was able to throw a biscuit which he took and in he came.He is a bit lame and looked very shell shocked but basically OK.
Had a nice breakfast of sardines on toast and is now sleeping under a cosy blanket ! Im afraid he is going to get a bath later, let him sleep it off first.I have tried to contact everyone who helped i hope i haven't
missed anyone. A great big thank you to all the people who gave their time spreading the word and coming out to help look for him. This is a fantastic site and your work is very much appreciated by myself and all the folk who find themselves in this awful position. The support network really helps gets you through it...you know your not alone. He is a sweet little dog, quiet as a mouse usually ! Thanks again to everyone and lets hope more lost ones are found safe and well today, it's truly awful going to bed with them still out there.Bev

Am off out again. have friends in Kings wood already this morning, i will go through british legion area. If anybody is able to cover the new Rushmere area that would be appreciated and Stockgrove old park itself.I have called the police this morning and there are no reports of him.Horrible night last night, really want him home.Bev.
paddy
Hello again. answer to the question re his knowledge of the area i would say no he does'nt know that side, he is better over the Legion side.He was driven from LB a regula route.Last edited: 2013-01-26 22:15:28 by paddy

Hello everyone, thank you all for your help. Sadly no news this evening. As i stated earlier he was spotted at the house which sits in the entrance to Heath & Reach Kennels/Vets approx 1030 this morning. He crossed the road directly opposite the house and into a small field (paddock I suspect )He ran across it in the direction of the A5, straight up.I suspect the thick bramble hedgerow would have forced him to do a left which i believe would be Kings wood. I have been mixing my wood names up, this is the area he was first spotted in. He originaly took off from the British Legion area.We had walked into the woods and walked to the right side of the Legion, there is a road to your right within that area of woodland (service road perhaps)he went under the fence, crossed that area and was later spotted in what i now believe to be Kings wood.He would have come out from the Legion area on the main road leading up to the original entrance to Stockgrove Park (now Rushmere). As you stand with your back to the main park entrance - look to the right across the road that's where he first ended up.He was spotted walking down Heath road towards Heath & Reach village about 11 last night(flying Fox end ).Next seen at the house this morning.just at the end of that
road and nothing since.Ranger is aware. I will be out early again tomorrow and truly do appreciate all your help.Im truly hoping he goes back to that house they have put food out for him just in case.Bev

Is this an area that Michael knows well? Was he walked from home or driven in the car ?

I've plotted Michael's movements and by the 10.30am sighting this morning he'd completed two sides of the triangle. Technically that means he could be heading down the Linslade Road in the direction of where he went from yesterday in Thrift Road.

being shared on local Milton Keynes & Luton & Dunstable facebook groups - the woods are very popular with walkers so hopefully someone will see him in the morning - have the park rangers been made aware and the golf club at Leighton Buzzard ?. Allotments in Heath and Reach may well provide shelter and food if he goes back into the village.
Unknown
Thanks, everyone. SuzeeBee thanks for doing that. They may be getting fed-up as I emailed, too ! Still, Sue did get the email out ! I suspect that Michael will be hunting for his dinner in that wood and will then hunker down for the night.
SuzeeBee
Nik I have contacted the club and Sue Brundle has sent an email to all members alerting them to Michael and requesting help. I have also sent a message to Buddies dog services, we helped them when their elderly wirehaired pointer Bert went missing and they are based in Leighton Buzzard. Stay safe Michael be brave and let someone help you home. x
Justine
Will keep an eye out for him and have shared on facebook. Keep postering, spread word, inform rangers, we lost Ruby at Rushmere last year and she turned up ... here's hoping Michael is returned to you soon
Unknown
I've come back to find a message from SuzeeBee about Michael. Paddy, can you plot the sightings of Michael on a map as he may well travel in triangle. I suspect that as you're in LB you may have got Michael from Viv and that she already knows. Either way I shall contact the Club and let them know.
DogLostAngus
been in contact with owner via text and will send over scenting information to them
pixies peeps
Have you contacted the BGV club to see if they can spread the news to their members ( contact numbers are on http://www.bgvclub.co.uk As they sometimes get confused with bearded collies have put link for this dog on the missingbeardie group.
paddy
I' ve just popped home to re stock and see to my other dog, all your messages are so kind i cant thank you enough.
Michael was spotted in someones front driveway this morning about 1030. they tried to feed him but he took off. The house is just on the entrance to the vets and kennels at heath and reach,on the road heading toward the park.He headed opposite their house into a small field and was last seen heading up to the big house tucked away in the woods . Last night he was seen walking down the heath rd towards Leighton ( Flying Fox roundabout end )I wonder if he is still around that area of woodland. I have been all round but no luck so far.I will be returning shortly and may go up to Kings wood area.Feels like looking for a needle in a hay stack.Thank you all so much.Bev.
SuzeeBee
Quite agree kellyw1991 PBGV's are often mistaken for crossbreeds. Anyone out searching keep your ears open as well as eyes.If Michael is a typical hound he will be very vocal when on the scent. Also a good idea to make up some small cards with contact number to give out to anyone you see so that they have info to hand if spotted. Poster everywhere you can't have too many, that will help with sightings. Good luck and stay safe little lad. xxLast edited: 2013-01-26 14:38:29 by SuzeeBee

Very sad to hear your lovely dog has gone missing. We've just got back from walking all around Kings Wood keeping an eye out for him. No sign of him there im afraid. Keep strong and we'll keep looking when out with our dogs. Take care.
kc1991
So sorry to hear Michael has gone missing...maybe check terrier/terrier crosses as well as PBGV's are a rare breed and most people will have no idea what they are.
SuzeeBee
would be worth contacting Mark Adams http://woodwalks.co.uk/ Professional dog walker in Heath and Reach. (no email)
SuzeeBee
So sorry that Michael has gone missing. I am not near enough to help search but have emailed poster to The Axe and Compass, The Heath Inn, Walking in Beds, Kingswood Farm Kennels and The British Legion. I hope this may help you find Michael safe and well. Good luck xx
lilliegez

I am heading off this morning to search through Ranmere Heath and hopefully into Kings wood. if any walkers are around Woburn, past the Flying Fox and Potsgrove woods (over the road from Flying Fox ) i would very much appreciate their help in looking out for him.I have called the local police and two of the vets Ark house and Heath and reach practice. We will be putting up posters around the area this morning. He is a very quiet little dog and doesnt like a crowd of people or too much noise, any help will be so very muuh appreciated. Bev, his mum.
