I am so, so sorry to hear this about little Betty. Rest in peace sweetheart and at least now you are back with your family, not as it should have been but at least they have found you now. Your family did everything in their power to bring you home, they could not have done more. She will always be with you regardless. She is sad - shes a vert gentle girl in nature but excitable and hyper when playing. she looks to you for everthing - she only has eyes for you and she always makes you feel better with a certain look she gives you!
I can see trees but they feel very faint/distant, i feel she is tired but determined to find her way home, i feel she is searching for you and your home.
The place i can see feels like a large 'park' area with plenty of space for dog walkers. I feel there is a section that no one particularly uses and she is wandering there, there are houses near by this place.
I feel like her legs have walked for miles but her mind has not wavered from you for one second - she loves how you hold her head and stroke up and around her nose with your thumbs and ruffle her ears!
I feel like the place seems like its far from you but isnt, maybe a neighbouring town or a park on the outskirts. I dont feel like she has a collar on now though she did at first.
She longs to be curled up with you snuggled on the sofa of an evening warm and loved.
She knows you love her just as she loves you. I feel she lost her collar near the start of the park.
I can see you calling her and her hearing you, i feel she would get up and run to you but will be feeling a little weaker so just persevere!
I feel like you will just know when your in the right place, it will be a gut instinct that you cant shake - trust yourself!
Shes showing me you in this place holding her - i feel it will be sooner than you think.
Regardless she will always look out for and protect you.
She is a beautiful soul and has nothing but lovely, happy memories with you all i can see is this happiness.
Her favourite things to do are play games with you and toys, all i can feel is joy :)
Also in the field i feel like there are a few clearings with few or no trees and i also feel like she stops travelling at night as she is not too keen on the dark.

I really hope what she has given me can help you!

I keep popping in hoping to see if betty is home and see your poor husband has raced off on a sighting.
just to say that there is a male bulldog puppy walking around with a young man in Alnwick. I told him about Betty and referred him to dogslost if he hears anything.

Thanks Bernise, unfortunately Betty's owners searched alot of the area today where she had possibly been sighted following the lady who contacted them but no one else seemed to have seen her, they asked other dog walkers, talked to the police etc. It will be brilliant if your Mum can keep a lookout for Betty, she may still be in this area, thank you x Come on Betty darling keep safe but be seen again x

Just a thought - from Hetton Library there is a road leading up Caroline Street to Hetton Lyons Country Park... a popular dog walking area and open space, a large lake, lots of walks, trees and dense area... ?? not sure if thats of any help. I;ve facebooked and twittered and will pass the word around this area as will my mum and friends.

Bazil we have received a call from a lady saying she spotted Betty who was trying to follow her at Hetton le Hole near Library on a green, she did not know about Betty and has just seen her poster. This was about 2hrs ago and we on our way now, can you post this on doglost.

Thanks for help everyone, we received a call yesterday morning from a young girl saying she spotted Betty on her own behind Tesco near steps at Chester Le Street and when I asked when she said about a week ago, couldnt be more specific dont know if its a hoax but we walk to Tesco that way with Betty so Betty knows the route so everyone please keep an eye out maybe shes near and we just need to find her.

I have covered quite an area of Birtley this morning, saw nothing. Have got a few friends keeping their eyes and ears open incase she was in Birtley and someone may have picked her up. It is possible if these sightings are genuine, that Betty is starting to form her triangle and trying to get back home. I went out again for 2 hours from just after 4pm and searched a walkway behind Drum Ind Est leading up to Ouston. Also walked and searched the grassy/bramble verges on the the cycle path from the Wheatsheaf pub towards High Handen Hold and my hubby done the same but heading towards Rickleton and further on the cycle path.
I have spoken to her owner and have asked if any sightings come in to call me immediately so I can also get out there and help them search. I am going out again tonight when it is nice and quiet to have a slow drive covering the sighting areas and where I personally think she might be heading. Keep safe Betty xx

I live right behind this pub and didnt see this update on facebook, its no good if we arent kept up to date at all times! I have not also seen any bulldog in this area being walked with anyone or otherwise. I cant see why people are even walking past a dog like Betty in the 1st place. but on another note we had lots of prank calls with ours,,and were running all over the place looking at "sightings" some people are just idiots

I have had a text from owners with update as follows .....
We got a call to say possibly a sughting at Birtley of a bulldog on its own outside shop opposite Three Tuns pub but the man didn't know if it was 7pm last night or the night before. Birtley is just down from Springwell.
We have just got back in after putting posters all round Birtley and fliers to everyone. People ringing to say they feel for us but no more leads some last night at Midnight saying she was with a group of lads around Shiney Row roundabout but when we got their noone anywhere we drove around for about an hour and half looking everywhere but nothing. We so tired and want her back. A local paper Sunderland Echo is going to do a story and come and took some photos today so hopefully that will help as well. I thought we would be bombarded with calls but we haven't thanks for asking and bumping Betty up xx

the river goes no where near springwell,,so I never got that bit either about the sighting,,,I personally believe she is in the original area still,or has been taken in,,yes the river may have subsided now, that doesnt mean she didnt get swept down a bit and is stuck on a riverbank somewhere,,its a funny river that! there have been 2 dogs lost before in there and neither got out themselves, the are she went in is actually quite shallow considering,so I think she should have got out right away,I just wish there would be a positive sighting for somewhere to focus on,,and soon!

Just a bit confused about Jumanji's comments re Springwell. Am I missing something? The Wear runs thru chester-le-street the south/southeast edge of Washington and then to Sunderland.
It does not go anywhere near Springwell.
Whats more, I dont even think there is a river at Springwell, which is quite a distance from ch-le-st and washington.
I ask as Im a rower and often row on the Wear at Hylton. I have put up posters today and will do some more tomorrow. I have also been to the wetlands centre today and put one up.
I hoping that Betty gets home soon.

Bettys owner as just sent me the following text with regard the dog being sold in Ashington......
.......just to advise Ashington lead ended with us getting there and handing out fliers and putting up posters and then a message advising bulldog for sale was 5 year old and male. So can you update dog lost site. Thanks for the support from your phone call. Thanks again, just hope the papers give us some help because we exhausted never stopped since it happened and everyday a bit of hope then its gone. We checked all down river again which is so low that you can see stones in it and Betty was not found.  Thanks.

Betty's owners have been following up on the reports about a dog like Betty being offered for sale .
This dog was being offered for sale in the ASHINGTON area 2 days ago.
Betty's owner has had a report from a lady who saw a dog like Betty in Springwell and there has-also been a possible sighting of her in Washington.
The owners have been told there is an area where dogs can get out of the river which is in the Fatfield area and the river master has told her owners that from the point she fell in to the river it might have only have taken her 15 minutes to reach Fatfield with the flow of the river on that day. They have been searching this area
Her owners are stil searching and postering but also persuing the reports of her being offered for sale.
There will be lots of media coverage for Betty tomorrow and through the week which will hopefully bring news of her if she is still out there hiding up somewhere and help make her TOO HOT TO HANDLE for anyone who may be trying to sell her !
Betty is MICROCHIPPED and it is also a legal requirement that anyone finding a dog MUST report this to the dog warden

Have spoken to owners and will update further shortly BUT the owners have checked out this report of a dog being retrieved from the river with the police and they think there were some crossed wires over the comment the police made last night .
They have checked with the police tonight and there are no reports of a dog being retrieved from the river last night and it is thought that the missunderstanding arose from when the owners husband called them in a very distressed state saying his dog had fallen in the river.

thank you Rachel,,app the owner was with this dog so it isnt Betty,,so sad for their loss though ;-9 ,,no updates as of yet..hang on in there though.,,.mine survived 8 days in that same water ;-)
Basil,,it seems that she fell in and that was the last she was seen...

It is a coincidence that I have information that a dog was unfortunately recovered from the river last night in the area Betty has gone missing from. I don't know anything other than that. We live in Crichton Avenue which is nearby and my mam called the police after people were trying to break into our shed. The police came very quickly and explained that unfortunately they were called out as a dog had drowned in the river, It was about 7pm when they came to our house. I'd contact the police if you haven't already and I hope so much this wasn't your girl x

owners have gone back to the river at first light to see if they can find her, they have printed alot of posters to put up around the area x
