So glad Bertie is home but that is quite away to travel, did the people involved in the RTA take him there or did he make his own way to Stanground ?
Still very nice of whoever got him to the vets to take the time to make sure he was looked after xxx

Just had a message from Ben. Bertie has been run over and is at Stanground vets. He has a really bad cut/chunk missing but they don't think anything is broken. Ben would like to thank everyone for their help and will update the site later on.
Jojo
Ben, I will keep an eye out, the dog was sitting calmly with the man outside tesco at stalham, Norfolk. The man is a local and has not had a dog with him before. The next time I see him I will make conversation and look at the dog's teeth,,,,I will then report back. The flash on the front was very similar to bertie's so will keep an eye out.
AlisonH
Bumping to the top as Bertie is featured in todays issue of the Spalding free press and the Lincs Guardian.

Hi Jojo, It was in Lincs, but it is kinda possible that he may have ventured or been taken to West Norfolk, where abouts did you see the dog? YES HE HAS HIS FRONT TEETH MISSING. The lower set at the front of his mouth. Do you think you maybe able to get close enough to have a look?
Jojo
Can I ask where you believe Bertie to be because I am in Norfolk and have seen one of the locals with a dog who could be Bertie. Does he have any other marks, than his flash, that make hi. Stand out. I only looked at this dog because the guy has not had a dog with him before and the dogs head shape and flash were very like bertie's...thank you
AlisonH
Owner thinks that you must have been in the store at the same time as he was. He asked them to put out an announcement to alert everyone about Bertie.
AlisonH
Thank you Kerry I have contacted the owner and alerted them to your message.
duffs54
wow that sounds promising Kerry, I am 20 miles away, I've FB and Twittered, hope he is found soon
Kerry
I am not sure if this is any help but I was in the new large Tescos in Bourne yesterday (saturday) late lunch early afternoon and a message came across the tannoy about a dog which had escaped from a vehicle at the traffic lights - I am sure they said a black labarador. I didn't get all of the message but seemed a coincidence. It was the gentleman from the customer services desk whom made the announcement. He said to contact customer services for any further information.

Rescue kennels, dog wardens and Network rail all contacted. Have sent local info including list of vets to contact. Photo should come through today.

Bertie was travelling in the back of a van and the door must have come open as he wasn't in the van when the driver got home. The only place that the van stopped was at a level crossing between Bourne and Deeping St Nicholas so he may have jumped out there. Photo to follow.Last edited: 2013-02-08 18:02:37 by AlisonH
