What a wonderful story. Myrtle went missing at the same time as Jimmy our sons bully and they went on the tv about him. it was the vigilant public that made his a success story. lets hope they are still as keen and alert. Jimmy is doing well so hopefully is myrtle.
Angelita
Fabulous reunited photo- I am so pleased for you and well done to the Ark and everyone involved, give Myrtle a hug from me. xx

What amazing news and what inspiration to all who's dog is still missing. I totally appreciate the decision to allow Myrtle to stay where she is and recover from where it is she has been. Well Done to all concerned - what fabulous news.
Millys Mum
What a lovely, lovely reunited photo and the best possible and happiest of endings. Wishing dear Myrtle much happiness in her foster home where, I'm sure, the past few years will be a distant blur and soon to be completely forgotten. Bless this little girl. Welcome back Myrtle.. x

Bugs
I'm so happy that Myrtle has been found and that you have been able to see her. Also, I commend you on your decision to leave her with her foster family, a very selfless decision. It must be wonderful to have a conclusion at last, instead of the wondering about what had happened to her. Bless you all, and I'm sure that Myrtle will be very happy now.
Dolly Maude
Hi everyone and sorry not to have been on earlier. Yesterday was a very emotional day as you can imagine. Myrtle is everything I remebered and more. For what she potentially has been through she has not lost her kind sweet nature. She wagged politely at everyone she met doggy and human. I'm not sure if she recognised me but she kept leaning on my legs and was more than happy to lie on the grass and cuddle. We went for a walk and she met the other dogs with no problems. She is heaven and it is really hard to know what to do as I don't feel there is a bad bone in her body. She is so trusting. Like all bullies, her commands wouldn't be great. Even on the lead I had to suggest she might like to follow me rather than her bumbling off in the opposite direction. She really is hilarious! My heart melts every time I think of what she has been through and I can only thank firstly Annabelle for her help, support and care. To Lynda from the Bull Terrier Trust for looking after and understanding Myrtle so amazingly, not to mention all the other dogs she cares for, to Clare (TyTarw) for her never ending support, and of course to Lynn, Sandie, and all at Doglost for their faith in their system! The time that goes into all this is so commendable and words cannot describe how grateful we all are to you for making our world a happy place again. Thank you all. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

What a fantastic picture. Dolly I am so very pleased for you and your family, the last 5 years must have been awful for you, but no at the long last you can look to the future. Give Myrtle a great big kiss from me. Take care little one. Annabelle

Such a wonderful outcome. Ive been thinking of you DollyMaude, it must have been incredibly hard, knowing that Myrtle was found and safe, but that now you had little people to consider as well. You made the right decision here, and were very brave. She will have a fantastic life now, and you get to see her too!! Very well done to Angus and everyone at Ark and all who played a part in Myrtles reuniting XX SueLast edited: 2010-06-12 07:26:41 by Mollychops

I have tonight the greatest pleasure in officially moving Myrtle into the blue. Dolly has been and met up with Myrtle in her long term foster home, she is still a very sweet, friendly dog and she has met her dog family and they all got on well together. Myrtle will be staying with her foster family, a decision that has been made with the agreement of all parties in her very best interest, she will want for nothing and best of all Dolly will be able to visit her from time to time and continue to monitor her progress. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Dolly is still in shock that after 5 years there is a happy ending and an end to that question what if ........ To all owners out there with long term missing dogs please keep the faith it could happen to you, Doglost co-ordinators and volunteers accross the country continue to cross match dogs in pounds to try and make that match, with good clear photographs posted on site there is always that chance. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Personally I would like to say a massive THANKYOU to Annabelle at ARK who works in partnership with doglost and always forwards stray intake for us to crossmatch, this reunion would never have happened if we did not have this arrangement with partner kebnnels and wardens across the country. Also a big THANKYOU to Bull Terrier Welfare who have rehabilitated Myrtle and helped get her back to health and will continue to oversee her progress. Dolly is going to make a donation to doglost which will help us to continue our work in supporting owners for as long as it takes. Enjoy the photo's. Sandie xx

This is unbelievable, I do hope it all works out for you Dolly but feel you are taking the right approach for all concerned xxxx Have never stopped comparing her picture with bully bitches that have come in with black ears. Will be interesting to see a picture of her all grown up. Love to you all

I cannot beleieve this news - truly cannot believe this. I am so very happy to hear that Myrtle has been found. Bless her little heart. Dolly Maude, there is no doubt you have Myrtle's best interest at heart and that is so courageous of you. I am still looking for my dog after 5 months being missing and I am devestated. This helps me so much and I know that you are so very relieved to know that Myrtle is alive and being well taken care of right now. I am so very happy for Myrtle that people care about her once again. I hope that you realize that you have everyone's support in your decision, whatever that might be. You are a wonderful person and I know you will let us know what your final decision will be. Good luck. xx

Dolly Maude (Myrtle's mum) is going to allow her some safe, quiet time and will visit her once she is settled and regaining health and strenth. Will be a week or so but I am sure we will hear once she has been and have those lovely photos. Thanks Dolly Maude for those lovely words.
Angelita
It certainly looks like her and would be fantastic news after all this time.
Meeka
Hi Dolly - Myrtle's story has given so many people still searching for their dogs (including me) renewed hope that one day we might be in the same position as you. I feel sure that you will make the right decision not only for Myrtle but also your family but it's fantastic that you know that she is safe and well. Ark - you all do such a fantastic job, without wonderful people like you these dogs would have a very different outlook, without your photographs the match would never would have been made and Dolly would forever be wondering what had happened to Myrtle so an enormous thank- you to you all. This is such a fantastic story which will hopefully have an equally wonderful conclusion.
Dolly Maude
Morning everyone and thank you for all your supportive posts. Joan is an absoloute star, and as you say Angus, with their professional guidance, I hope that we will come to the best arrangement for Myrtle. She deserves a quiet time for now so she will be staying with her foster mum Lynda to be assessed. I will visit here there and we are keeping in close contact as to her progress. It certainly would be a bridge too far to introduce her into this mad house at the moment...Maybe in time. I wanted to say that with out all of you out there working tirelessly for people like me and Myrtle, we never would've found closure on this very very sad tale, and for that I will be eternally grateful. Although I have nightmares now about how she has been treated, I know that she will have a happy and safe remainder to her life. There were times I felt like giving up, but your support at Doglost was so supreme, that it would've been an insult to do so. SOo THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU ALL for being such wonderful, supportive, understanding determined people. You certainly helped to restore my faith in human nature. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx P.S Updates to follow with photos!!
PaulaK
So its looking pretty certain that it is Myrtle - I would say its unbelieveable but Ive seen others turn up after years on the missing list. I hope it brings an end to the years of wondering where she went and if she was ok. Im very pleased to see that things are being done slowly and assessments taken seriously too - as you said she isnt the puppy that went missing. I hope things work out for you all, and Myrtle and wish you all the luck in the world xxx
dinkydoodle
Myrtle went missing before I joined DL but I have just read all the posts on her page to catch up and am so glad she has finally 'popped' up all these years later. Her owners will make the right decision for them and Myrtle and I wish all of them the very best for the future.x.
Spindle
Dolly, you will make the right decision I am sure, this just shows how important photos on our site are, without them from the brill rescue and the ones you put on the match would not had been possible. Looking forward to talking to you once you have visited her. Sure we have put the world to rights in our conversation in the last few days. This case is going to bring such hope to so many and proove that we never give up on Doglost. Remember that camera, we need those photos.
DogLostAngus
Dolly - Thank you for taking the time to give us an update - I cannot imagine the emotions that you are going through at the moment, but haing spoken with you yesterday I know that you are very sensible in your approach to if and how you may be able to take Myrtle back into your family and I know that between you and the very experienced people at the Bull Terrier Welfare that you will come to the right decision for both the family and for Myrtle. I would like to personally thank Joan from the for her diligance and care in this matter and dealing with it as quickly as she has to get to this point. ~~~~~~~~~ ARK - What can I say, you are a wonderful rescue who always have the welfare and wellbeing of the dogs in your care uppermost and without the photographs that you send this match would possibly never have come about so again a big thanks to you for making this possible. Sandie x
hello janey
This is just fantastic!!! I got all shivers down my back when I read it really was your lovely girl,,I agree you may not be able to give her what she needs anymore,,WOW,,still great to know after all this time,,welcome home gorgeous girl ;-0 Annabel xx
Dolly Maude
Hi everyone, so sorry it has taken so long to get on the computer. The lady who runs the bull terrier rescue rang me to say that the dog is definitely Myrtle and that the reason she knows this is that she bred the great granny and recognises the line!! What a small world. We sgreed that I would go and see her and then we would have her assessed as I have 4 children now and Myrtle is not the little lady she was when she left us. The whole situation is such an emotional roller coaster as I am not sure if it is fair to expect her to fit into a hectic house. I wonder if she needs a quiet time now?! Advice? Annabelle, thank you for your messages and please don't feel bad. You are a great honest caring person and did what we all would have don, and it has turned out for the best...As soon as I know when I am going to see her, I will ring you. How bizarre that the very first sighting I had in December 05 was in a village near BAnbury...
ARK
Please, please, please let this be a happy ending. Thinking of you Dolly and if it is Myrtle, give her a big kiss from me and tell her sorry from me for drawing this painfull process out even longer. Annabelle

Message for Ark. I agree whole heartedly with Spindle, you must NOT blame yourself for what is happening with this. We are just so pleased that you manage to find the time to try to trace the true owners.
bee
Hi wouldnt it be wonderful if this was Myrtle, why on earth are you not being allowed to see her to find out ?
Debra
I truly don't understand why you can't see the dog. I would think they would be eager to have one less dog to take care of and to have the dog back with it's original owner. My goodness, a bit of cooperation can go a long way. Keeping positive thoughts and energy going your way that you can at least take a look and hopefully she's Myrtle. Fingers crossed and prayers too. xx
Spindle
ARK - no one predicted this, dont blame yourself. We all do what we can to get the dogs back where they should be.There are not enough hours in the day to do everything, we can only do our best. Hopefully Myrtles mum will be able to see her to find out for sure.
ARK
Dolly I just wanted to say how sorry I am for all the trouble you are having in going to see this possible Myrtle. If I had known this was going to happen I would have kept her here for you to see her. So sorry I do feel responsible and if there is anything I can do, please dont hesitate to contact me. ARK
PaulaK
watching this closely, would be amazing if it was Myrtle, good luck!
Mollychops
Gosh this would be fantastic if this were Myrtle. Keeping everything crossed here, goog luck Dolly Maude, I hope you get to see the found EBT soon, it must be so frustrating!
DogLostAngus
I have bumped Myrtle's page so that she is easy to find - I hope that we may be able to get some resolution for her owners to be able to view the found dog and to show the EBT the many photographs of Myrtle as a 15 week old puppy. This family have suffered since December 2005 of not knowing what happened after Myrtle was stolen but have never given up on the thought that one day they may find her again, hopefully they will be given the opportunity.
Dolly Maude
Wow, how strange to think that this may all be over. If the found dog is Myrtle, it sounds like she has had a terrible ordeal. Sadly the EBT will not let me visit to verify whether we think it is her or not...I hope that this can be resolved quickly as she was in the pound for 8 days and they only took her today. I have now been told that she is their property unless I can prove otherwise, which is hard if I can't see her and them with the thousands of photos that I have on my laptop. The lady looking after her says she is in very bad condition too. It would be lovely to be able to establish if she was my dog or not quickly to avoid heart ache AGAIN!!! Thank you Lynn and Annabel for your support.
DogLostAngus
owners have been contacted re the found EBT today - they will arrange to go and see her as soon as possible to check if it could be her. Big thanks to the rescue kennels Last edited: 2010-05-27 00:10:58 by Angus

Hi Dolly Maude, I was thinking about you as our penny has been gone a whole year as well and thought I would just check on Myrtle to see if there is any progress. I, like you was pregnant through out our whole dog theft ordeal, I gave birth to Archie on the 17th June 2006 we had Penny stolen on 06th Dec 2005, and Gin was stolen on the 21st April 2006 quite an ordeal for us preganant ladies!!! Congratulations on the birth of Ted by the way, I know the babies take up alot of our time but we must still live in hope of getting our other babies back!! The lurchers are lovely, and yes, both are chipped. Netty the old hairy one is Basils 'wife'. She is now 15 and has never been the same since he went missing on the 9th May 2004. Sybil is only 3 and very shy of strangers. She would NEVER go willingly and Nettle is far too old and smelly for nyone to love her other than me! I didn't see the article, but apparently there was one in the Manchester local paper after which i started getting hoax calls from some idiot. Every night at about 5.30 and 7.30 this man would ring and say that he had sold my dog to the indian take away. Then he would ring back amd say that he was doing things (that I will not mention on this site) to her and that he would like to do them to me too as I was 'a dog too wasn't I?' So maybe mobile numbers are NOT such a great idea after all. Any thoughts?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Forgot to say your other two dogs look adorable, I hope you won't take this the wrong way but I really hope that you have either tattooed or chipped these two. The police came round yesterday to inform me that they had traced those numbers that had rung me as ransom calls. There were 2 numbers and they were both in Cheltenham, one was a flat the other he wouldn't tell me. But apparently there were no dogs at either address and the woman who lived there told him that lots of people used her phone. HOW PATHETIC that they could get that close but wimp out at the last minute!!!He told me that she was terrified that he was there. SO WHAT! They terrorised us and stole the dogs. WHEN ARE THEY GOING TO STOP BEING THE VICTIMS? I was not surprised by the result. It is one of those situations where you are so out of control that is not worth getting upset about it, but I wish the police weren't so yellow bellied about these groups of people that feel it is their diving right to do as they chose...enough said I think.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I had a phone call yesterday from a friend who0 saw some lads walking down the road in stow with a bull terrier bitch. He followed them only to discover that she had a black patch over her eye, not her ear! I know you'll never give up hope that you'll get Myrtle back and neither will we - I'd like nothing more than to hear she's been reunited with her rightful owner but I know life has to go on. I feel so much sympathy for all of you with missing dogs - I just can't imagine how painful it must be when it goes on and on and you don't get any answers. I pray you will get her back one day soon. Good luck with the move. Thinking of you. Rx Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi everyone. Long time I know. Still no news obviously and wondering when the documentary will come out to see if that helps. Quite sad to see that alot of the missing dogs are still not home. Sadly this is a reflection not on us, but on the dishonest people who are harbouring the dogs and the people who take them. We are moving house now to get out of the village and the public eye as I am sure that is how both Basil and Myrtle were spotted in the first place. Great support still for darling Myrtle. Just so glad she was not in Birmingham. Dolly and Bump (due 24th July!)Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I think the worst of it is that someone has her and knows that she is mine and is not prepared to give her up now as they are attached. I hope that is the case as at least she will be being looked after, but they must be looking over their shoulders every time they take her for a walk. Good luck to you & your family Clare. You have done what you must. You have your bump to look after as well as your other children + hubby. You have done everything you possibly could to find your doggy baby. I'm sure she is a much loved doggy wherever she is. I agree with Candy you have to do what is right for you. How all of you with missing dogs cope I'll never know - as you say the endless calls/sightings etc must drive you insane. I have such admiration for you all. I suppose what makes it worse is that some people don't understand - they don't see dogs in the way we do and expect you to move on easily. I don't understand that attitude but I suppose we are all different. You are right your number one priority has to be as a mother and I can totally understand why you feel you have to try and move on from this. It's so cruel that this has happened to you twice. Stay strong. Thinking of you and Myrtle Rx Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Roz, you are so right, and here I am checking her page again. Someone rang me yesterday to say they had seen an ebt being walked pretty much in the next door village. We are so remote around here and it seems strange that if she is close by that no-one has seen her. No-one in the next door village has an ebt as far as I know, and each time this happens it haunts me for weeks. I'm certain that she is being harboured by someone and hopefully loved very much. Every moment of every day is taken up phoning or emailing people about Myrtle or putting up posters. We are moving house simply to get out of the village so people can't see that we have dogs. I need to be a mother again and not the owner of a lost dog. I am so incredibly sad about it, but I did this with Basil too and it nearly wrecked my marriage. I will not stop thinking of either of them and I will not really stop looking, but I have to start to get on with my life now for the sake of all the people around me. xxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I'm so sorry you feel that way but I can understand it must be terribly hard. I think the hardest part is the feeling of being stuck in limbo and unable to have closure. I'm sure I speak for all of us that we haven't forgotten Myrtle and we are always praying that you will get her back safely soon. She hasn't been gone that long in Dog Lost terms although I know it must seem like a lifetime to you and there is still a great chance of her being found but I understand your feelings. Thinking of you and Myrtle Rxxx Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Oh dear. I have now decided that due to no news and no activity on the Myrtle page, and due to the fact that whoever she is with now would be better known to her than we are, I think that our search possibly finish. After all. She has been gone for longer than we had her for and whoever she is with now would be more like her 'mummy' that I am now. Poor little thing would be so confused. So thank you all so much. I am not being a defeatest who knows what will happen. But this constant search is ruining me. Dolly xxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Dolly Maude - This is the first time I've posted on this forum, although I've been keeping my eye on Myrtle's thread for ages and I did send you an email of support a while back through the Bully Bar. Saw Jayne on BBC Breakfast News - she was great ! Very calm, factual and the Newsreaders genuinely interested.Unfortunately Jimmy was unable to appear himself and I think Jayne had no time to show Posters (sorry) due to the short time she was allocated and the main thing was to promote this Site and get new People involved. It's worked as I've been trying to log on and Server down all Morning until now ! I agree Whippet, but this page is for an EBT. Any one who is looking for a boxer, Westie or Jrt should be getting in contact with the USPCA but they do think that all the dogs originated in Ireland. Still I would have a look if that is what you are missing. Goood luck to all on that. GLad that Myrtle is not part of that but still feel there is part of Glos that I missing. Are there any contacts in Evesham or Gloucester? We need inside ifo now as whoever has her does not intend to part with her for money or anything!!! HELP...Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi, Shauna Lowry is indeed the Celebrity Shauna Lowry so I can not imagine her ever actually reading her e mail but someone there should be forwarding it on to the right department. I can not seem to find any other email contact for them. The dogs were being held at the USPCA centre in Bessbrook but have now been moved to a "secret location". Even if we did head over there I wouldn't know where to start looking now they have been moved. Anybody!!! Any more ideas on what we can do about this?? Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Dolly Maude, It was Shauna that i emailed. No response will try again. Makes you wonder if it isn't worth a trip over there, although the news reports say there is some legal limbo with working out who these dogs belong to. Stephen Phillpott of the USPCA quoted "We don't know who owns them, we don't know how they came to be there and I have to talk to the other agencies to try to take this forward," he said. Well we would like to talk to them about it too!!!! It is driving me mad!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Another helpful email address is that of Shaua Lowry who is the president of ARRC (Aimal rescue ad rehabilitation centre) affiliated with the USPCA (Ulter Society of Preventio of Cruelty to Animals.) Her email is shauna@arrca-uspca.co.uk. Interestingly in the press cuttings the dogs found at these farms were boxers, pit bulls, JRT's and Westies(!) Strange combination...Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi I have tried to email the UPSCA as well sorry did not realise you where already onto it. I have a feeling we might discover a few of our dogs there!!!!!! Our Patterdales where stolen in December Penny & Archie and we have been convinced from the beginning that this is the type of place they would end up!! Funny how alot of the T word people have headed back to NI and now this place is discovered!!!! The BBC News for NI had an interesting article today regarding the recovered dogs one gentleman from NI recognised his dog on the TV it had been stolen in October he has now been reunited. Lets hope we will be reunited with ours as well!!! In my e mail I refered them to the doglost website but sadly i have not had any response but lets hope they are onto it!!! Fingers crossed!!! Do we know if there is going to be a BIG media interest in this story? It would most definately help to get the message out - that this mindless, sick, scum infested activity is still going on. Other owners with missing "fighting breeds" will also know where to direct their search. If Myrtle has become unfortunately mixed up with these gutter scum I pray that she is safe, and home with you soon. xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I hope they come up with something too. It said 180 or possibly 160 'fighting dog breeds' including puppies. So I can onloy guess we are talking Staffie crosses, EBT's, and possibly pit bulls. Some where found on a breeding farm and the rest appeared to be in transit I think. So either they had arrived from somewhere like here, or they were on their way!! More likely they had just arrived there I should think. Is there really still dog fighting in this country?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Bullies still stand out a mile, they are not the latest 'fashion' like Staffs. Hi Dolly. I haven't noticed any posters - I was in Pets at Home today and glanced at their noticeboard but didn't see Myrtle. If I had a working printer I would have taken one with me to put up. It's extremely frustrating (far worse for you i'm sure) that this woman would ring and not give you any info. I promise faithfully to look out for Myrtle on my walks both around Cheltenham and Winchcombe. I'm often approached by people who want to say hello to Sid, and will ask them to keep their eyes peeled for Myrtle. These dogs are so distinctive that people can't miss them. Just a thought, but have you rang any of the local dog training schools to see if any EBT pups have come in? I sent Sid to this one: http://www.puppytime.co.uk which is very popular in Cheltenham. I've put your mobile number in my phone in case I spot her!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Abbie, yes I do mean Whaddon. I have looked around there and I have some friends who have 'friends' around there. They have asked around and apparently she is not there, but the lady on the phone said she didn't want to get involved and she wouldn't tell me where she was, but she did confirm that she was in the Gloucestershire area. She told me that she saw the psoter in her local shop. Have you seen any posters around, because if you haven't then I should put up some more!!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I've been keeping my eyes peeled for Myrtle (I walk Sid around Cheltenham every day) - no sightings i'm afraid. Are you talking about Whaddon, Dolly Maude? Did the woman who rang give you some indication that Myrtle was there? If so, it might be worthwhile asking the Echo to run another(?) story - particularly seeing as someone has rung from Cheltenham claiming to have her. It can be presented in such a way as to pull on heart strings/conscience. Regarding knocking on doors in Whaddon, obviously take someone with you and be tactful, but I don't think it will be as bad as you think. I'm sure a few people will tell you to F Off, but the majority will be sympathetic. I think the main thing would be to say that you know she's in the area, rather than you assume that she is. The latter is likely to get peoples backs up. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sadly there is NO WAY students would go to that area of Cheltenham. Not even the police go there!!! It is incredibly rough and unless you keep your head down you are asking for trouble! It's not illegal, but bone fide market researchers are members of the Market Research Society and wear an identity card. They also don't generally cold call. Dee's suggestion of a college project is a good one - in fact people are probably less likely to shut the door in your face than with a real market researcher. You could do a questionaire on animal welfare. Make it multiple choice and no more than one side of A4. Go out in a team of three/four for security purposes and do it street by street. Pressgang a teenager so it looks genuine and make sure you know the name of the local college !!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Dollymaude re knocking on doors - you need to be careful if area very rough. Might be easier if you have a particular road in mind to carry out some kind of survey? It's not strictly legal as you need consent to do that sort of thing from the council but could you have a child at college who needs to research dog ownership in the area and say people's thoughts on the DDA?? It might get you talking to people who have dogs... and who know dogs.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We've had an interesting 24 hours as I got a phone call from a woman to say that she has Myrtle. She says that she had her Rottweiller stolen and she knows just how I feel, and that she doesn't want to get involved as she obviously feels there has been 'foul play'. She said she would ring me back to make a meeting place so I could give her the money she spent on buying Myrtle ande I obviously agreed. Since then I have heard nothing. I am waiting by the phone with anticipation and the money in my paw but I cannot give it to her unless she rings me back!!! Help. Please ring...Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I'm told there is a 'T' camp near Chipping Norton that even the police won't enter. My sis knows someone who can probably ask around the T's for information. She will do this when she sees the person, but doesn't know where they live to get in touch with them. xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

The police came round today and we now have a crime number. They are telling all the Dog Handlers in the area. Apparently when a house is raided and there is a dog there, they automatically call for the dog handlers. He said that would be a better way to advertise her missing than going through the officers on the ground! Still trying but sadly losing faith...Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Jayne, This lady rang me from the number I gave you and said she had my dog, but when I told her that ours was a bitch, she said that the one she found was a dog. She sounded fairly genuine but in a bit of a hurry, and think that possibly the reason why wshe rang was because of the reward. The DNA box has arrived so I will get a sample from Myrtles bed and one from her mother asap. Speak later xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks Ollies Mom, Being a farrier and a vet he should get to plenty of yards which is wonderful and I am sincerely grateful. Just to let everyone know, I am in France until Monday, but a woman rang me today from Cirencester so thought she had found Myrtle until I told her Myrtle is a bitch and the one she had is a dog. Not sure if whe wanted the money or if she realised that I was abroad and didn't want to talk, but she put the phone down bery quickly. I will give the number to you Jayne. Dollymaude, yes I do find myself looking at every dog on a lead which can be very dangerous whilst driving but you can't help yourself. Your comment about the oxfordshire dog warden brings back painful memories, when Dolly went missing I contacted wardens in three counties and various other departments in the local councils, I have to say that south oxfordshire (male dog warden) council were the most unhelpful, not seeming to understand that a short drive or trek across country would take a dog across the county line!! All other dog wardens and departments were unbelievably helpful, my local dog wardens have been lovely to me. Dolly 6.2.05Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

84 emails and faxes gone out yesterday and today to everyone from colleges to Asda ! All AVON / OXFORDSHIRE / WARWICKSHIRE / WORCESTERSHIRE dog wardens are aware and have details - that is 19 dog wardens in total.....surely there must be a sighting soon ? Hang on in there Dolly and keep going - my gut feeling says she is still close to home. Fingers crossed for news tomorrowLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

She assured me that if I had lost my dog in Glos.Worcs that it would not be in the Oxon area and that maybe I should be looking nearer to home! I told her about the sighting in Stanton St John. Just got in from my tour round Oxfordshire. I went to Stanton St John and I spoke to alot of the village. None of them know of a bullie in the area let alone a puppy. I then went to the village hall where the sighting had been and there was a man doing dry stone walling. he said he had 'definitely' seen a bullie puppy being walked at about 11am. She was on an extendable lead and the man with her was in his 40's. On the way to drop Ch4 at the train station we went via Barton which is the local crime hot spot and put a poster in the chippy, but couldn't find a pub...Fingers crossed and help also really needed in the Wheatley area if anyone knows anyone there. I will try and go back tomorrow.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Dollymaude yes that is us on Blunsdon Hill and Dolly is my dog. She has been missing since February 6th. I placed an ad in Horse and Hound a few months ago and have to say I didn't receive one phone call but that shouldn't put you off as it only takes one person to have seen Myrtle for it all to be worthwhile and where there are horsey people there are dogs. If you need to talk to someone in the same situation as yourself then please feel free to call me, my number is on Dollys' page (she is on page 30 at the moment), best to call my mobile. There seems to be a bit of a horsey connection going on here - I wonder if thats a lead worth following? Just in case, I will forward this onto my sister in Chipping Norton, and get her to put the word out about Myrtle. She knows a lot of the local hunt, and is involved in dressage (travels around a large area from comp to comp). Can't hurt to try. xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Nik, we have had editorial coverage in the Evesham Journal, Cotswold Journal, Gloucestershire Echo and Western Daily Press. Each has run an article. It was suggested to me that I should put an article in the Horse and Hound titled 'if you are offered' . What do you think? She has also been put on a website called www.bulliesinneed.org.uk and they in turn have put her on another website but I can't remeber the name. Jayne is coming up today so hopefully she will have some wise words...Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
