Delighted to report I have just received a text from Toby's owner:

Hi - Toby turned up at our house tonight minus collar & a bit thin, but otherwise in good shape - a miracle! Thanks. x

So delighted for you clive that Toby has shown what a clever old boy he is and has found his way back to you. Moving you into the BLUE clever toby - welcome home fella - no more running off now! :)xx

I have been in contact with Toby's owners.

Toby is a rescued farm dog who has been with his owners for approximately 2 months. He ran from home at approx 4pm last Thursday after being scared by a loud bang from nearby. He is not used to a town environment and is normally taken by car to more rural areas for his walks, so is not familiar with the area close to home. At the time Toby ran off, there was a lot of traffic in the area. There have been no sightings of Toby since he disappeared.

It is not known exactly how old Toby is, but is probably 10+years.

I have recommended lots of posters to try and bring sightings in - someone must have seen Toby after he ran off and know which way he headed.x

Too late to speak to Toby's owners now. I have sent an email with advice and information and will try and speak to them tomorrow.x
