He looks like he's a lovely boy. Its hard work when they are as determined as that to get out. Hope he's home soon xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

My lurcher is very bouncy too. Is there anyone that can watch him when you go out? I realise it's not easy but it's either that or build higher walls! Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

My lurcher Molly would jump 7 ft just for fun when younger, isit poss you could put Monty in the house when you go out to keep him safe ?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

OK this is unbelieveable. Monty was found on Saturday night, taken in by a lovely guy and I picked him up last night. There was a tiny 4 inch gap that I thought was the only way he could escape and so have covered it with loads of breize blocks HOWEVER I was out for 2 hours this evening and he has gone AGAIN. Therefore he must be getting over the 7 foot walls around my garden. I'm speechless.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thank you so much everyone. The rascal was alone for about 3 hours and the only possible way i can see that he got out would be over a locked half door, down an alley way full of things and by knocking over 6 breize blocks that were against a door after he ate through it on his last trip out. The hole showing after one of the blocks had been knocked over was about 4 inches so i'm incredulous that he managed it but the only other possibility was that he was taken from the back garden. I am not a careless owner - honest! - that hound could not be more loved. Praying for his safe return very soon. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I had an escape artist, infact he is on the list as missing, cocker spaniel IP24, but to be brief, the only way I could keep him in, when we lived in spain was an electric fence....a small strip of white tape, used for horses and such, I think it is aval in uk, it worked, very small current, maybe worth looking into, when he has finished his mini break, agree with the denutting, it does help.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

If he is inclined to do a runner, he needs to be wearing a tagged collar all the time. [Also, if he is still entire, castrating him might make him less inclined to go walkabout!]Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Monty obviously decided to have a mini break! Wonder if his camping buddy took him to the vets to get him scanned since he wasn't tagged. Lucky boy to find someone kind to look after him. Hope he stays closer to home in the futurexxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

MONTY HAS BEEN FOUND!!!!! Thank you everyone. Monty went and befriended a market trader by jumping into his camper van and making himself at home. He's had a couple of days in the country and he's right as rain! The garden is about as secure as I can make it - please don't think I'm being remiss - just one split second and the boy with the running legs will make a break for freedom. thank you Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Do you think he may have headed back to the couple who had him last time he escaped? Would be worth giving them a call-their number is on an earlier post.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thank you so much everyone. Your well wishes mean so much to me. Last time Monty got out he ate his way through a wooden door! It's been blocked up since but someone moved the barrier and in no time he was out again. I miss him so badly. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just catching up on what I have missed-welcome home Monty! If only they were all so quick! The reason for police not recognising is that they had him registered as a Greyhound type and did not connect to lurcher description!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi there! Good news!! I have found your dog, Monty and he has been living safely with us in Bedford for the last couple of days. He is fine and am sure looking forward to seeing you again. I caught him in the rain at 11pm on Friday night after he was running loose on London Rd and across St. john's St. I had registered him immediately with the police and othher websites but had not discovered lost dogs.com yet. Call me to arrange to be reunited!! Meg : 01234 293861Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just a few questions.... Is Monty a working Lurcher? Is that bald patch on his hind quarter still there? How did he go (taken or runaway)? He is a lovely looking boy, hope he's home soon. xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Monty is lurcher with (we think) some labrador and saluki. He was a rescue dog so we don't know for sure. As for height, I think the picture is the best guide. His back comes up to my husband's knees! I really appreciate all your well wishes. We are missing him so badly. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
