- Any news since this lovely oldie went missing ? Hazebella
- 2013-04-11 03:45 Unknown
- Hi Claire, thankyou :) yes had been down there and seen it all going on and spoke to some of the workmen there. I cannot catch owners in, but I am sure they will be aware as they know quite a few other boat people down there and would have been told or prob seen themselves xx
- 2013-04-04 08:54 ClaireC
- Hi Hazebella, I did hear on local radio the other day that a part of the one of the locks fell in and therefore canal closed. I am guessing that this will mean that there will be lots of maintenance work now will start on the other locks so maybe worth mentioning to the owners of Higgins.
- 2013-03-27 02:51 Unknown
- I went several times to try and catch owners in, I am going again on Thursday to try and catch them and see if there is any news their end. x

- Fb'd and tweeted again.
- 2013-03-23 11:05 Unknown
- I heard nothing back after the Canal & River Trust's maintenance run, so I'm assuming they didn't spot anything.
- 2013-03-13 13:03 Unknown
- ty dont know what day I was on :) Have also walked from Croxley to Cassiobury (but not further on) then back down to Croxley Moor lock. x

- TX Nik....
- 2013-03-09 22:23 Unknown
- Hazel, it's Tuesday they'll be going. I walked between the locks at Cassiobury Park and Croxley this morning.
- 2013-03-09 02:34 Unknown
- Do we know how C&RT got on? I know the owners check in when they can, so hope they can give an update with any news? Will pop down again over weekend see if I can catch them in x
- 2013-03-06 16:09 Unknown
- C&RT have a maintenance boat going down this stretch of the canal on Tuesday. They are going to search the off-side areas for us.
- 2013-03-06 15:57 Unknown
- Finally got to the bottom of Bulbourne. Yard open, office closed hence the phone ringing out. Poor communication at C&RT. They really need to tell their frontline staff ! Waiting for a call from local maintenance supervisor.

- Nik directly across from where Dido interested, there is a concrete part with lock on top it, water flows in, all though you cross bridge into golf part the actual structure is on rough land of the canal so would this still be water way in charge? Owners not in today, gonna try catch them tommorrow x
- 2013-03-03 03:12 Unknown
- Going to go back Monday and check round area Dido interested in, and go further along canal x
- 2013-03-02 16:29 Unknown
- We searched all the undergrowth from Grove Mill Lane to Lady Capel Wharf. The only place that Dido got animated was gap between the tow path and the owners' boat. We also searched the weirs around the properties in Grove Mill Lane.
- 2013-03-01 10:21 ClaireC
- Good luck xx
- 2013-03-01 09:12 Unknown
- I'll be going down to the canal Saturday morning with OH and hound. We know the area really well and if something of Higgin's is available we'll see whether Dido can follow the scent.
- 2013-02-27 20:41 Unknown
- Thanks, Hazel. You've been doing a terrific job.
- 2013-02-27 17:45 Unknown
- Properties checked today that could not get to yesterday Higgins not seen. Checked through other areas and hedges. Have met up and spoken with owners again. xx
- 2013-02-26 23:59 Unknown
- Monkeydog............was lovely to meet you both today so sorry it was because of Higgins missing. You are doing every thing you can and you are also very aware of things that could be. Fields and hedges searched. The area where the lane Higgins would prefer to walk on is actually the path that leads to The Grove from Hempstead road. lots of houses visited, walkers spoken to. The owners have put up posters in all areas to be noticed. Need to come back tommorrow to check some properties with a weir that were out, will be going to canal further away towards Power station tommorrow xx

- Aylesbury is not that far from Watford and he may have been that he has been found and taken to a vet. Aylesbury Vet is 01296432666 or another Vet Aston Clinton is 01296 630326.

- Firstly, thanks for everything. Much appreciated.
Higgins was frail and slow, and cannot walk far. Incredibly loyal and has never strayed. The dog is ill. Because of circumstances, we believe he can only have 'vanished'in this way if he was helped,or fell in the canal(there was no sign of this). In the time he had he could not have travelled more than 20 metres from the boat. He hates rough ground and always sticks to the path.
I was surprised at the Grove as he was reported missing to them Saturday lunchtime. Again thanks to all for your help and support.

- Affinity Water have come back to us and will be opening the pumping station site for the owners to search this afternoon.
- 2013-02-26 14:38 Unknown
- Higgins went from a houseboat near Grove Mill Lane so we have a better idea of where to look now. Hazel's going back down there for another search and we've been in contact with Canal & River Trust and the pumping station.

- info from owner
On saturday 23rd Feb at about 8:00am our very old and unwell
Affenpinscher went missing from the tow path while I was putting my
boots on to walk him.
We are at 'The Grove', Watford, Hertfordshire, WD3.
We are desperatly concerned about his wellbeing ; he's unwell and needs
to see a vet.
He is typical of breed if being a bit thin coated and now showing his
age, 13yrs.

- Lynne if you could find that be great as that could make sense if you come down grove mill lane from Hempstead Rd you come to some cottages with two quite sharp bridges the second bridge look to your right that is the canal with boats on it. There is a small part there to park up on so will go that way tommorrow x
- 2013-02-25 23:23 Lynne
- I read on another site that he was lost on the towpath, I think by some boats but I can't find the site again to verify what I read :-(
- 2013-02-25 22:19 Unknown
- Thanks Hazel & Little Pooch. I'll send a poster to Grove reception & Golf Club. Have already sent one to Park Vets. Will also do the businesses along canal/Hempstead Road.

- took drive around (as got no printer at min, but still tried to get a feel of areas. The reception at the grove have had no reports about a missing dog. the entrance from grove mill lane into The Grove, leads up to the part where golfers are i only saw one member of staff he did not know anything but said "the owner" would have to go up to put poster in club. As Nik said this is just a mass of open land never mind the golf course is massive. will come out but need more clue what area and would def need more than one to help on this xx
- 2013-02-25 14:20 Unknown
- If we're talking about The Grove as in Golf Club etc, this is a very large estate that encompasses the Gade and the Grand Union. It is bounded by the M25 link road, Langleybury Lane, Hempstead Road and Grove Mill Lane. It's surrounded by Whipendell Woods, farms and the quarry. A bit more on location would be helpful. Most of it is not WD3, but WD18 and WD4 !!
