- Hahaha! Not sure about that! They might not like to advertise the fact that there might be a rather big dog roaming around loose in their grounds! Apparently the poor boy is rather traumatised but the owners are going to take it slowly to get him used to being at home again. However, thought you might like to know that Bernie's owners will be making a donation to Doglost to thank everyone who helped. Well done to all!

- Marshall .. do you know if it is a smooth coated St.Bernard pls and did you find the link? Owner brought me some laminated posters yesterday but I work daytimes so hv not bn able to put any up in the Lane. I had asked owners to do so though. I took posters to places I said in my earlier post. If anyone is able to help I wld be grateful! I put plenty of posters in shop windows in Battle and sharing/tweeting.

- IDK if it's coincidence or the same dog but a male St B is in a pound in Newcastle - might be worth contacting them? I'll try to find the post.

- Hi Paddy, unfortunately no sightings over the weekend or today. Owners have bought laminator and are printing posters. When I get some I will be putting more around the Battle/Catsfield area. I hv emailed all the rescue centres in the area and rung the Dogs Trust in Shoreham/Eastbourne dog wardens to make sure they are all aware he is missing. Hv suggested owners widen search area and let vets further afield know. Bernie lives in area with loads of fields/woods so could be lying low. I'm hoping he has not gone too far and is found nearby. Feel sure that POSTER POWER is the way to go! Last edited: 2013-03-04 16:01:24 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex

- Hv bn out this morning looking for Bernie who sadly didn't turn up for b'fast at the hotel 2day. Posters to P'mill Woods, Wylands Fishery and given to postlady ((wl put up in depot). Put posters up in Battle and visited Senlac vets. Posters in the butchers, Webbs garden store, Shires country store, Jempsons, Truffle Pig, Taste of Battle, Alan Hunters,Martin's newsagent, the ironmongers in courtyard and Memorial Hall. Also.. Battle Abbey School hv posters which they will email to all who use grounds. Met dog walkers fm Pets Home Alone who'll pass word around & know owners (n'bours) so very productive morning. Lots of people sharing on Fbk. Spoke to owner and stressed how important it is to poster .. POSTER POWER works! Thanks all who are helping.

- Sadly Bernie is not home yet. I had a call fm his mum who says that although Bernie was indeed seen outside Powdermills Hotel no-one kept him there so he is still lost. Owners got there within 5 mins but there was no sign of him .. they spent the next 6 hrs looking for him. Unfortunately no luck. I hv suggested that they go to the hotel either this evening at dinner time or tomorrow morning at breakfast time in the hope that Bernie turns up again! How frustrating, but I suppose a dog of that size can be rather daunting to people who are not used to big dogs! At least we know that he is ok at the moment and still close to home. Keeping everything crossed that he will be home after breakfast tomorrow!

- Bernie went missing in the late evening fm farm on P'mill Lane. Is unusual for him to leave their land although is sometimes 'led astray' my energetic dalmation, bless him! Have advised to check that other local landowners along P'mill Lane know Bernie is missing and to ask them to check barns/sheds/outbuildings. Also to put posters up all around and to check with dog wardens in neighbouring areas in case he has bn picked up and taken out of immediate area. Owners have reported Bernie to all the right people. Have also suggested lighting the bbq with smelly food to see if it attracts Bernie. Hopefully he will be back very soon. Last edited: 2013-02-28 20:47:37 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex

- Hi. Wld you tell me exactly which part of P'mill Lane Bernie went missing please ..was it the Battle or Catsfield end? I know the area well and friends live by N'hurst Estate. I hv asked them to keep an eye open when riding. Pls let me know if & when you hv a search for him .. happy to help. Try to poster everywhere and anywhere you can to get the word out. Remember to keep in constant contact with the vets, rescue homes and the dog wardens (Sussex/Kent and Wealden)..Blue Cross Northiam, RSPCA Brighton, Barby Keel Sidley, Kit Wilson Uckfield, Raystede, Last Chance, Dogs Trust Shoreham .. try to check them regularly to remind them that he is still missing. Also if Bernie has been picked up by someone it often happens that they take them home to their area and then report it so put his info everywhere. Here is the link for the dog wardens phone numbers in your and surrounding areas .. http://www.animalwardens.co.uk/lost-found-dogs-search/all-dog-warden-phone-numbers. Glad to see he is registered on there already .. you can check 'found' dogs on there too. Give posters to vets, riding schools, postmen, milkmen, taxi drivers, bus drivers, ice cream van drivers, schools (children are good at spotting things!), post offices, doctors surgeries etc. Just get the word out to as many people as poss.. maybe put an ad in Friday Ad/ the Observer? Thanks pixiepeeps and SarahW for yr help. Come on Bernie .. time to go home.Last edited: 2013-02-27 23:50:54 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
