JudeM thanks a million for the text with the brilliant news he was reunited with you. Great you have updated his page with your story on how you got him back. You have all been amazing and worked your socks off and it has paid off. Look forward to a reunited photo.

THANK YOU to all who helped in the search.

Welcome home BUSTER sending you a big hug and cuddle. xxx

That's wonderful news, have been checking on here everyday in the hope you have found him. We went to Formby with our dogs on Tuesday and kept looking out for him but never saw him. You must be thrilled. x x

I only have one thing to say Yahoo xxxxx and I hope you sleep really well tonight and Buster too. Well done and you deserve it for all your efforts. Looking forward to seeing him around Crawshawbooth Reservoir sometime xxx Its a shame all rescue dogs don't have such lovely owners !

And here is the dramatic story in it's entirety - I got there at about 7.30 am and spent most of the morning near the car park but had no joy spotting him. All of a sudden there were a spate of sightings of him on the beach. Rick Pullar got a lift off one of the council rangers onto the dunes while I had to stay and keep an eye on the ranger's trailer. Then someone reported that they'd seen him on the beach near the boardwalk but when they'd approached him he'd headed off towards the sea. They kept him in sight and saw that he was running towards, and then finally arrived at, the shipwreck on the beach. Rick and the ranger drove out as far as was safe and Melanie J Nolan and Ian Nolan walked out then Rick carried on on foot.Rick heroically (stupidly) waded out into the sea (coastguard and lifeboat on standby) and managed to persuade Buster to jump off the shipwreck and swim towards him.

I've got both my boys home and bathed and warmed up, both are fine although Buster is very skinny and has some nasty sores on his tummy (but he hasn't had any of his allergy tablets for a week) - nothing that won't be sorted soon. He is currently snoring on the sofa :-)

Can I also just take the opportunity to thank everyone for their continued help and support - it is humbling and life affirming, you are all marvellous and have earned a whole heap of good karma coming back to you xxLast edited: 2013-03-09 20:21:29 by JudeM

Update - ****SIGHTINGS**** - copied from comments on Doglost NW facebook

There were a number of definite sightings of Buster yesterday afternoon in Formby.

The sightings were mainly around the lakes and near the car park at Lifeboat Road. He seems to be approaching other dogs but gets nervous around people.

Busters owners will be there again today if anyone is able to join them. If you are in the area, and see Buster - do not call out to him, or make eye contact - stay low to the ground and speak quietly. Carry a spare lead and food or treats and allow him to approach you.

Bumped for sightings. xLast edited: 2013-03-09 09:18:46 by skippy

Buster Update: 07 Mar 2013

I'm afraid there have been no new sightings since Monday. I went back to Formby again today but with no joy. I also visited five different rescue centres and saw far too many homeless dogs but unfortunately no Buster :-(

We are setting up a fb page for him and I will post a link to that here so we can share details of meet on Saturday
honeyharvey
I will help from about 11am for a couple of hours if someone could tell me where to meet up x
JudeM
Sorry it's sdo late, we've only just got back - been there all day. No news I'm afraid but back again tomorrow. If he isn't home help on Saturday would be massively appreciated. I've no idea how we're even going to begin to thank everyone.
K7Miles
I'm waiting on today's news? Hope they haven't given up. I'm trying to rally people for Saturday on Facebook. I think there is a real possibility we can find him if we all work together.
Bo
As honey says below; happy to RV on Saturday and sweep through the area - if enough people are there we could start from the rifle range and push through all the area not fenced off all the way to Freshfield parking area. Maybe a tape recording of your voices shouting his name on our phones so we can get his attention if anyone sees him and are not near you. I did notice quite a bit of rabbit carnage by the lakes today, 3 areas of bunny rabbit fur everywhere and I walk there every day twice a day so know it well. There are also plenty of shelter places for him and big holes which he could lie in.
honeyharvey
If you can organise as meeting place in Formby I can do a couple of hours on Saturday around 11am or 12am.I could also do some postering if that would be better for you. Do you have some spares ? Put a post on and I will check, hope he is found soon x
Bo
Was out at 0630 for a couple of hours looking for him and no news. I did pop into the caravan park and spoke to a resident who said he would tell the park owners to keep an eye out. May be worth putting a poster up on the entrance to the caravan park as he may be attracted to the smell of cooking. The hospice in the woods smells delicious at breakfast time too with bacon cooking which again may attract him.
K7Miles
If Buster is still missing this Saturday my partner and I are going to Formby beach and pinewoods to help with the search. I looked today, but nothing this time. Sorry we can't come any sooner.
AnnieSparky
Hope Buster is found soon, am keeping a look out for him and sharing his poster......hope to get down to Formby beach area this week to help look for him x
JudeM
I'm afraid there has been no real news today. He was spotted yesterday apparently. I've been there all day today with nothing to show but a sunburnt nose and big blisters. Everyone I've met and has been incredibly supportive, most had seen the posters and all were keeping a look out and spreading the word. Complete strangers have given their time to help look which is absolutely amazing. Rick is heading back there tomorrow - hopefully he'll be back with us this time tomorrow.
JudeM
No joy today but I'm heading back there tomorrow. I know he'll be home soon. There are so many people helping I can't even begin to thank them all

JudeM thanks for the update. Sure it is only a matter of time before you get a phonecall and you are able to get there in time. The Scenting Instructions are attached to the info/advice email I sent to you. x

Buster has been sighted by quite a few people on the beach today. He is generally very friendly with both dogs and people but I imagine that by now he may be quite nervous and skittish. Thanks to everyone who has helped look. I'll be there again first thing tomorrow.

Have noticed Buster has been on DogLost before ID 28312, won't reactivate as when anyone shares the link from DL to fb it may still show up as REUNITED. Last time he made his way home but this time he is approx 50 miles or so from home.

I've made contact by text and emailed info/advice. Just about to go out to the kennels before it gets too late and will speak to owner properly a.s.a.p.

He was SIGHTED this morning on the beach. After sharing his details this morning helpers have said they would look out for him as they were going to the beach. Keeping everything crossed he is found soon. x
alex
Sorry Buster is missing.... I was walking my own dogs on Formby beach yesterday evening at about 6pm but did not see him... I will go again today and search. Is he generally friendly with people and dogs, or will he shy away...and is he from the Formby area or elsewhere? Hoping for good news soon.

Message left for an update.

Will hopefully be calling into Liverpool RSPCA (Halewood) to look out for any NW ones, we have three new registrations that would be taken to the RSPCA if handed in and also others registered recently on DL. x

Will try and contact family a.s.a.p. to offer help and advice. If picked up in the area and handed in he would be taken to Liverpool RSPCA (Halewood) 0151 486 1706.
