H, I also think different councils work differently. I know Basildon DW will take them to vets if worried. Others may need to know whether owner will pay, but bottom line, I hope, is that these people care. And, I felt just the same as you. It was horrible not knowing for sure how sick Kia was. Thank goodness Kia is now having treatment. Just in time. Could have been a different story. x
hoolibelle
Thankyou Kimmybear. i just felt awful for poor mite. I am sure the dog wardens do a wonderful job in often very difficult circumstances. Keep getting better Kia and big hugs to you and your mum x

So glad Kia is back where he belongs, with an owner who obviously cares about him so much. Hope he recovers well and has a happy life ahead of him. Well done to DW involved for their help.xxx

Maddison, thank you for offering a donation to DogLost and as much as we need donations to keep the site running and appreciate this, I do think in this case, we would all prefer this to go towards Kia's vet treatment instead. To know that he is safe, back with you and under the vets is thanks enough. Of course, if you come into some money later, then do please think of us, but right now Kia must come first. I am sure we all agree. xxx

This i sbrilliant news Maddison. I am so glad you got him to the vets today - you did good girl! Worms can be VERY dangerous so it was extremely lucky that Kia was found when he was. Do keep going with the treatment and remember to worm him every few months as per the vet's instructions as you need to make sure they all go and stay away. You did great!
Hoolibelle, I think and hope, dog warden would have rushed Kia to the vet if she thought his condition was immediately dangerous. I have been concerned about this myself, but now that Maddison has told us what the problem is, and that same DW insisted on Maddison signing to agree she would take Kia to a vet, we must assume that DW knew he would be okay for a day longer.
Maddison, I am so glad to hear this good news and I know everyone else is too. Let's just hope we can find a nice trainer/behaviourist for you now. Even just to give advice to help and put everyone on the right track. And don't let your sister near him :-) xxx
maddisonxx

Am so pleased that Kia is safe! Can someone bring me up to speed with what happens when councils find injured dogs that need veterinary treatment? I thought the dog would be zeen by a vet! It has worried me to think they are left untreated. My vet uses a very good behaviourist whether she will work for free i don't know. Newnham Court Vets. I can ask. So pleased you have him back x
mrs doyle

Kia is on his way home! He will going to the PDSA tomorrow. He seems okay in himself although does need veterinary treatment. From the sound of it vets will need to carry out investigation and this may be why he is so thin. Praying he will soon be well. Dogs are so amazing as they carry on regardless of illness; real little troopers. Does anyone know of a kind behaviourist who would be willing to work for free or visit just once to offer advice in person? Kia might need a little help in adjusting. If so please contact owner. PLEASE make sure this will be a genuine registered behaviourist/trainer with the UK Registry of Canine Behaviourists, not someone who calls themselves one! This is very important. Thank you. And of course - WELCOME HOME KIA!xxx
mrs doyle
i hope you get kia back today and that he is ok xx

Staffyclub & Lucinda, you are amazing. Thank you! Pls see owner's post below. Sadly, dog warden has left for the day but is kindly assisting tomorrow. Personally, I am truly grateful that people have taken the time to help. You are lovely. Everything crossed for tomorrow as owner has a lift. Just hope Kia is doing alright. From what I understand he may have been missing longer than owner first thought as amongst other things, he is very thin, but we'll wait for owner to update when she's got him. Poor little boy. I am very angry with whoever has done this to him. I am so very glad he has been found and pray he can recover from this terrible ordeal.

i have a lift to collect kia from newham at 12,00 tomorrow as the lady there has to go to a rescue this afternoon so i wont be able to collect him this afternoon

I've just had a lady say she could help just now but doesn't know who to contact.
Lucinda
Although this appears to be sorted, I can help with transport this aftermoon or tomorrow (Sunday) morning if help is still required. Sorry for not posting sooner but only just seen the message on Staffyclub For-Rescues Facebook page. Hope all works out ok, and Kia is reunited and gets whatever vet treatment is needed x

Thanks to Miss Marple, we have established that now Dog Warden will keep Kia overnight as owner cannot get there today. I just hope Kia is being looked after well, as he does need urgent vet treatment from the sound of it. Owner has got transport for tomorrow. Thank you for everyone's help. x

Miss Marple is calling owner. Have be in contact with owner and I am not sure owner will make it from Southend to Newham in time, especially as they don't know the area. I have tried to put word out to a get a transport run to help, no luck so far. If he's in a bad way he must see a vet, Maddison. He is so lucky to have been found and he really needs you now. Keep us posted. x

Maddison, it could be a civil matter if you want to take your sister to court, which will take a long time to come to fruition and you will have lost precious time in finding your dog. BUT your sister HAS has STOLEN your dog which makes it a crime, and, a crime is thus a criminal matter - not a civil matter. I suggest you go back to police and even print this page and take it with you. It is your right to demand a crime number (a CRN not an incident number - make sure you get the right one!) and police have a duty to investigate this. They are there to help solve crimes and this is very much a CRIME. Perhaps you could get the details of the officer/s you speak to and we may be able to get our police liaison officers to call them if you still have a problem. Please do this urgently.
maddisonxx
police dont want to no they said its a civil matter have managed to get some info kia was seen in barking with a man possably by the name steven birstow have reported kia missing to redbridge dog warden and barking and dagenham
maddisonxx
all chip details are upto date spoke to petlog yesterday and today even though he was chipped in 2011 he wasnt on the database so have been on the phone to the vet anfd the resent all details over so he is now registered and reported missing with them aswell
Dog Wardenstarmutts
Make sure you contact the dog warden for your area and surrounding area and are your chip details up to date? even if she has given him to someone they could have then called the council to pick him up. It is worth putting in a report.
maddisonxx
hi kimberly no she hasnt lost him she just refuses to tell me who she gave him to but im sure she dosnt no the police dont seem interested either
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Maddison, is it possible she has accidently lost him and doesn't want to tell you? You need to find out because if he is lost then there are lots of thing you need to do and I can send this advice to you. If sister has really given him away do what Jayne said and also tell the plice who should give you a crime number and investigate. You must do this asap!
HelperNeil @BTP
have monitored met police cad system- reports of a pit bull type dog left tied up in hedgmans road, dagenham 1556 hrs today- no description mentioned-dog warden was called and dealt, worth a call to dog warden just in case ?
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
The police will probably tell you this is a civil matter...especially the Met police....email admin and I can pass it onto our police contact co ordinator who can give you advise...and pass you onto an officer who can help...ie a dog owning policeman/woman....please mark attention jayne and put your dogs name down...
maddisonxx
i have threatened her with the police all she keeps saying is she will find out there number but keeps putting it off ive told her i will go to the polce and still nothing so im going to them tomorrow i have no idea why she did this he isnt aggressive or anything plus it was nly a tempary thing and he was going to come back i just wanna know where my baby is
Tara H
Personally after reading this I would contact the police. Tell your sister you will be contacting the police before you do it in case this loosens her tongue. I would inform your local dog warden Redbridge and also Newham Dog wardens. And Battersea.
Did she say why she gave away your dog ? Was it being agressive or something like that ? Have you had an argument with your sister and she is doing this to get her own back ? Hope you get it sorted out
